Spring Training game against the Indians.

Pete Broberg pitched 4 innings, allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits, walked 4 and struck out 1.

Second round pick Bucky Dent got the start at short stop and went 1 for 3.

Angel Mangual left the game in the fifth with an injured leg.

Jim Panther pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, gave up 2 hits and a walk and struck out 1.

Paul Lindblad pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit.

The Rangers out hit the Indians 8-6 but lost 2-0.

The Rangers next Spring Training opponent was the Red Sox.

Rich Hand got the start. In 4 innings, he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1.

Jan Dukes pitched 3.1 innings, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 1.

Jim Shellenback struck out 1 in the 0.2 inning that he pitched.

Bill Gogolewski, now in the closer's role, pitched 2 scoreless innings, gave up 2 hits and walk 2.

Paul Lindblad pitched a perfect 11th inning.

Jim Driscoll got an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Rangers their first win in Spring Training 4-3.

Bucky Dent went 2 for 3. Jim Mason had a double and Elliott Maddox had a triple.

Boston rookie George Brett went 0 for 3.

Today's Spring Training game saw the Rangers take on the Royals.

Don Stanhouse got the start. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 6.

Mike Garman pitched 2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits but he also struck out the side in the sixth inning.

Gerry Janeski pitched 2 innings allowed 1 hit and struck out 1.

Larry Biittner had 3 hits, Elliott Maddox scored twice and Bucky Dent had a couple hits and drove in a pair.

The Royals won 5-4.

Minnesota beat Cleveland 9-8 in 13 innings.
Oakland blanked Milwaukee 1-0.
The Yankees doubled up the White Sox 4-2.
California whipped Boston 13-4.
Baltimore shut out Detroit 9-0.
It was Pittsburgh 3 Houston 2.
St Louis got passed the Cubs 1-0.
The Mets nipped San Diego 4-3.
The Dodgers edged Philadelphia 3-2.
Cincinnati was one better than Atlanta 2-1.
Montreal needed 10 innings to beat San Francisco 5-4.

A couple of Spring Training injuries to report. Cleveland RP Phil Hennigan had surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow and will be out 4-5 months. Cubs RP Phil Regan is expected to miss 6 months due to shoulder inflammation.

The Rangers batted the Orioles in Spring Training action.

Kevin Kobel got the start and went 4 innings, allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 3 and struck out 3.

Steve Lawson pitched 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 2.

Bill Gogolewski pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 1.

The Rangers scored 4 runs in the first and held on to win 4-3.

Angel Mangual had a pair of hits, an RBI and scored a run.

Minnesota beat Boston 5-2.

The White Sox got passed the Indians 5-4.

California scored 5 in the eighth to down Kansas City 7-2.

Milwaukee doubled up New York 4-2.

Oakland spanked Detroit 10-0.

Houston slipped past Montreal 2-1.

St Louis came back to beat Cincinnati 5-4.

The Cubs handle San Francisco 10-4.

The Mets downed Los Angeles 9-5.

Philadelphia was just better than Pittsburgh 2-1.

San Diego shut out Atlanta 3-0.

The Rangers next opponent in Spring Training was the Detroit Tigers.

It was time for Dick Bosman to take the mound. In 4 innings, Bosman allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1.

In 2.1 innings, Casey Cox allowed 1 run on 1 hit and struck out 2.

Horacio Pina went 2.2 innings, allowed 1 unearned run, on 3 hits, walked 2 and struck out 1.

Jim Mason went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

Dave Nelson went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 stolen bases and scored twice.

Bucky Dent went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and scored a run.

Detroit won 5-4.

Spring Training continued with a game against the Angels. Steve Rogers against Nolan Ryan.

Rogers had a bad first inning and in his 4 innings allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and struck out 1.

Ryan allowed just 1 hit in his 4 innings, walking 2 and striking out 5.

Danny Fife pitched 3.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on just 1 hit, walking 3 and striking out 3.

Jim Panther pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 2 hits.

Jim Mason had a double, Toby Harrah stole a base and Tom Grieve had a pair of RBI.

California 7 Texas 2.

Rich Hand had a solid 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4.

Jim Shellenback pitched 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits (1 home run), a walk and struck out 2.

Jan Dukes gave up a hit and struck out 1 in 0.1 inning.

Toby Harrah had a pair of hits. Angel Mangual hit a triple. Dave Nelson hit a double.

Chicago 3 Texas 2.

Boston beat their nemesis from the Bronx 6-0.

Minnesota thumped California 10-1.

Bill Voss hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 11th to lift Milwaukee to a 4-2 win over Baltimore.

Kansas City also got a walkoff win 3-2 over Oakland.

Pittsburgh doubled up Montreal 4-2.

The Mets blanked Cincinnati 2-0.

St Louis bested Houston 5-3.

Los Angeles took care of the Cubs 4-1.

Kevin Kobel was near perfect in 4 innings. He walked 4 but allowed no runs or hits.

Jim Panther pitched 2.1 innings before leaving with an injured hand. He allowed a solo home run and struck out 1.

Steve Lawson gave up 1 hit in 1.2 innings.

Joe Lovitto went 2 for 2 with a double.

Bucky Dent was 2 for 2 before leaving the game with a foot injury.

Tom Grieve had a double.

Texas out hit Oakland 9-2 but lost 1-0.

Milwaukee thumped California 7-1.

Cleveland crushed Kansas City 10-1.

Minnesota whipped the White Sox 7-0.

The Yankees outlasted Baltimore 4-3 in 15 innings.

Detroit blanked Boston 3-0.

The Mets just barely won over St Louis 3-2.

Steve Rogers held Cleveland scoreless through 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and walking 1 while striking out 2.

Baltimore won over Kansas City 3-1. The Royals also placed RP Monty Montgomery on the DL with a torn labrum. He is expected to miss 5 months.

The White Sox nipped Oakland 2-1.

Pittsburgh crushed San Francisco 11-2.

The Cubs bounced Atlanta 7-3.

The Mets handled Philadelphia 4-1.

San Diego edged Cincinnati 3-2.

Next up on the Spring Training schedule is the Kansas City Royals.

Rich Hand got the start in this one. In 4 innings, he allowed 1 run on 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 2. In the fourth inning, he worked his way out of a bases loaded one out situation without allowing a run.

Casey Cox did not fair as well. In just 1 inning, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and struck out 1.

Jim Shellenback gave up a solo home run to the first batter he faced. He would go 2.2 innings, allowing that run, 3 hits total while walking 2 and striking out 2.

Steve Lawson pitched 1.1 perfect innings, striking out 1.

For the second game in a row, Hal King hit a home run. This was a solo shot.

Ted Kubiak had an RBI double.

The Rangers were out hit 15-6 and lost 6-4.

The Yankees gave up the go ahead run in the top of the ninth but scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to beat the White Sox 3-2.

California got all their runs in the seventh to beat Boston 4-3.

Cleveland crushed Minnesota 9-3.

Detroit gave up 3 in the top of the first but came back to beat Baltimore 5-3.

Oakland handled Milwaukee 5-1.

Pittsburgh needed 13 innings to beat Houston 4-3.

Montreal eased to a 6-1 win over San Francisco.

Cincinnati blanked Atlanta 5-0.

The Dodgers slipped by Philadelphia 3-2.

The Cubs murdered St Louis 15-2.

The Mets shut out San Diego 3-0.

A grand slam by Jim Fregosi in the bottom of the twelfth gave the Mets a 6-2 win over Pittsburgh.
