Syrups Soar , but Rustlers Remain Atop OL S331
Waffletown rampaged through OL in May, posting a stellar 17-3 record, but still remained in second place as Terra Incognita swept its only series to hold onto the lead.

WaffletownTakes Over Top Spot in OL S331
The Syrups pulled into the lead, maintaining their solid play with a 9-6 mark for the month, as Terra Incognita was exposed a bit in expanded league play, slipping into second, going 4-5. Port Ruppert, 8-2, and Hooterville, 13-5, both got hot and closed in on the leaders, jumping to third and fourth, respectively.

as usual I'm just waiting for the bottom to fall out ![]() maybe it's something in the maple syrup this season, but looking at the run differential, when Waffletown is winning, they are winning big... they have a +181 run differential already (next closest team is Illawarra with +112)... also helps when your bunch is ranked top 3 in runs scored, batting average, home runs, runs against, defensive eff, and starters era... I'll take it as long as they want to run with it |

Blitzkrieg Maintains Lead in OL B233
Shangri-La appears to be the only challenger to Blitzkrieg's quest for the title. In their only regular season meeting, the Dragons took 2 of 3 from the Boppers. The Boppers' Dwight Gooden threw a one-hitter in the opener of that series.

Hooterville is still struggling to get firing on all cylinders as they have been having a hard time trying to find two catchers who want to hit above the Mendoza Line.
With 85 games in the books already, Hooterville has tried 5 different catchers and the current back-up catcher is right at a .200 AVG! As for some of that "Magic Syrup", I'll be first in line when it becomes available for sale! -30- Last edited by Bottom Of The Sixth; 12-03-2020 at 12:38 PM. |

Syrups Sail on Steady Silver Seas
Waffletown posted a second straight 9-6 month to pad its lead a bit in OL S331. Among the chasers, only Asylum made a bold move, as the Keepers rode a 14-3 month to a five spot jump into 5th overall. The rest hovered around .500 for the month.

Here's Hoping...
...someone will take the time to at least compile standings I285, G320, G340, and D356, since all have the potential for OL crowns, depending on the number of games played by the various teams.
Palolo, which started in OL in PT 19, has a chance to match Casey Stengel's 1949-1953 Yankees as they vie for their fifth straight diamond crown. Although I think the Puppies may have paused their participation at some point, I believe they are the only team besides Port Ruppert to play in all three PT iterations. The Mundys are the only team that's been in OL since the start. I actually have a folder with the older records in it, if I can just remember whre I put it. I put columns for lifetime records/titles in v19 and v20 on the 'titles' tab of the online sheet.... think it's just the regular season records (not playoff matchups), but its something |

So far in the 2056 season, Waffletown Syrups have turned into a major powerhouse however, the Syrups may not be as "Pure" as you may think. With the Waffletown Syrups out batting and out fielding teams in their own league, so much above and beyond other OL teams during the last few months, they have sparked a renewed interest from the baseball community on if the Syrups are really a "Pure" Grade-A team as they appear to be. A top league official from Commissioner's Office, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly said that they have received "several complaints" that Waffletown may be bending the rules in their own favor. The Commissioner's Office have received all types of complaints however, the two that stand out the most is that Waffletown clubhouse staff members have been pumping Grade-B syrup inside the team's maple wood bats and that the players are using Grade-C Maple Syrup instead of Pine Tar. Using both would very easily allow their players to have an advantage while batting. This reporter has also been told that there have been several complaints from opposing team players who have repeatedly complained that there appears to be a "sticky" residue on the balls that Waffletown's pitchers use from time to time. At the time of this report, there was also "creditable reports" that several of the Waffletown players were spotted in the dugout with pints of Grade-C Maple Syrup in their back pockets. Based on the team's 2056 stats, so far, all of these "reports" look pretty incriminating. No matter how all of this stacks up, short or tall, it sure looks like the OL Commissioner's Office has a "sticky situation" on their hands! -30- |

Blitzkrieg Bops in Bronze
The Boppers continue their OL B233 onslaught. Not much change in the standings.
Overall, Cat Town is the first OL team to show up in relegation this season, though several are in danger. |

When a reporter asked left fielder, Andre Dawson, to comment on the rumors regarding possible use of unsanctioned syrup being the reason for their stellar play this season; Dawson simply shrugged and replied: "When things are going your way, you can do no wrong; and everyone will try to find some excuse to tear you down if they can. Just gotta roll with it." Dawson replied. As he strolled from the clubhouse to the field to warm up, the reporter spotted a small bottle poking from his back pocket. It appeared to contain a viscous brown liquid. When the reporter asked about it, Dawson tugged it out, glanced from the reporter to the bottle and back, and replied: "Bourbon... it's just bourbon." He said as he unscrewed the cap and took a big swig.

Whatever's in the Syrup, Waffletown's Results are Grade A
Amid an overly embossed cloud of speculative controversy, Waffletown blew through another month of the OL S331 season, riding a wave of winning that included a nine-game skein of successes. Their crowning seems only a matter when, as they appear to have obliterated the if. Their rivals' dim hopes reside in the slim possibility of a '64 Phillies type collapse. With more than 20 league games remaining, the Syrups could post a stunning number of OL victories. Terra Incognita manager, Gil Gamesh, bluntly dismissed talk of "Secret Syrup" from other quarters saying, "I don't believe that bull___ about type B or C or X, Y, Z syrup. They're just a bunch of good ballplayers playing good ball."

I was incorrect. Palolo was not a member of OL in PT 19. Omgpuppies did participate for a couple of seasons with the Aina Haina Parakeets, and one season with the Kaneohe Mokes. The Puppies did not appear until PT 2.0. OL founder B.O.T.S. competed as the Gas House Gorillas. OL lasted only nine seasons. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 12-05-2020 at 10:08 AM. |

got a couple packs from a mission.... not a bad return from one of 'em... obviously won't be seeing playing time on the squad, but will add a pretty penny to the war chest:
(only missing a gold card to get one of each) |

Blitzkrieg Claims OL B233 Title
Late Saturday report:
Blitzkrieg has clinched. Saturday's highlights included a 20-3 shellacking of Sierra Vista. (Personal note: my 3 teams managed to secure the basement of the OL B233...not a great season) Should be several OL teams in the playoffs. Vlora is in position to be relegated. |

Yes, it's enough. With at least four teams in the league, where at least two of them play 10 games, a crown is awarded. Would be greatly appreciated if you can post the final numbers at the end of the season. Thanks. |

Syrups Secure Silver, But Barely
Waffletown wavered, and squandered nearly all of its large lead, but won the OL S331 crown by a slim margin. The Syrups pounded out a 13-1 victory over the Brooklyn Pimp Ministers in the opening game of their final OL series of the season at the Spile. The crowd began the game subdued, but the joint was jumping by the end of the 4th inning as the Syrups broke out to a 9-0 lead. Waffletown cruised thereafter behind Walter Johnson's complete game, 4-hitter, and all manner of secret syrups flowed. Terra Incognita won it's only three games of the final month to finish within an eyelash, while Port Ruppert went 6-1 to grab third.
As the attached attests, OL will be well represented in the PT playoffs. |
