Is My Glass Half Empty or Half Full, or am I Just Full of it?
Quote:
It made me laugh when I saw this, because I took a similar approach, but got different results. I awarded 8 points for most in a category, down through 1 for least, but I also awarded teams tied in a category their points without skipping places because of the ties. I guess my thinking was more in terms of how much rather than the rank. That gave both Port Ruppert and Krikkit 7 in crowns, while Hooterville and Weston Pointe got 6, and Waffletown and Hartford got 5. Not sure if that makes me an optimist or a pessimist, or if it proves that figures lie and liars figure. It does make my results: Weston Pointe - 20 Cary - 18 Kansas - 17 Hooterville - 16 Port Ruppert - 15 Waffletown - 15 Krikkitt - 14 Hartford - 9 After reading Jason's post, I did recalculate, skipping places for ties and ended up with: Weston Pointe - 18 Cary - 18 Kansas - 17 Hooterville - 14 Port Ruppert -14 Krikkitt - 13 Waffletown - 12 Hartford - 6 I now am not sure who to vote for, and so, I hope for more votes to come in (as well as results for gold 335). OL results for G335
Huge differences between top and bottom this week. It came down to the seven games that Hidden Valley played against Weston Pointe this season, which Hidden Valley won 6-1.
Here are the results: Hidden Valley: 38-11 Weston Pointe: 27-17 Hooterville: 25-23 Shinbone: 22-22 Hartford: 6-7 Cuiford: 5-9 Ewa Beach: 14-30 Brooklyn: 14-32 Hidden Valley (Wild card) and Weston Pointe (NC East champion) were the only teams to make the playoffs. Ciudad, Brooklyn, and Ewa Beach will all be relegated to Silver next week.

Tortugas Win Bronze
Daytona Beach finished their successful run in OL B292. The Tortugas were bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

Aztecs Dominant in S273 Series Win
El Dorado lost only a single game throughout the playoffs and topped it with an impressive victory over South Side. Those two will be joined in the golden jubilee OL season in gold by the Norwood Red Menace and Illawarra.
Many thanks to those who've voted so far. Still can't make up my mind, but the Southpaws are leading. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 03-07-2021 at 10:32 PM. |

Jackson Represents in ST226
The late entry Wood Ducks were top notch in grabbing a World Series in stone 226. Hopefully there'll be enough teams in iron for them to get a belated crack at a crown. The user name is ustoffee. Congratulations.
By the way, I didn't get a logo, so I cobbled together the one pictured. Be happy to replace it. |

That's it
We head into the golden jubilee year of this version of OL. Hopefully we can grab everybody for the last week.
I will be pulling the plug on PT, so there will be no more post season graphics, but I think 50 seasons is a formidable number. I have a visceral disaffection for PT, and this season has been the worst. The cards are increasingly detached from reality. I have an old Strat game with some old timer teams that I might break out to cleanse my head of the idea that there is a world where Johnny Vander Meer could out pitch Johnny Sain, let alone Left Grove or Walter Johnson. I don't mean to carp, but that was the card that broke my brain. Sorry for the whining, but I'm an old guy and have the sense of privilege that develops from snow on the rooftop. The last two or three months I have just been entering tourneys and opening packs, filling the collections I fell into and occasionally hitting the AH to complete one. Anyway, during that time I only sold duplicates and live perfects, diamonds, and golds. I had built up quite a backlog of historical cards, so I sold off the diamonds and golds on Saturday night and Sunday morning and spent the points on new players for my teams. With at least 500,000 per team, the improvements still weren't enough to put a charge in the game for me, so I will just let it go. I'm sure I'll check the forum now and again.May open packs in a month or so. I do love the pack open sound bite. No, I didn't get a Vander Meer 100. ![]() Good luck to all. |

yeah, I think what broke me from the view that the PT players should line up more according to how they actually performed was last version when the Zack Wheat card came out, as he was basically superior in every way to the top Rogers Hornsby card.... and since both of their 'peak' cards were based off the 1922 season, it was easy to compare their real numbers and just shake my head at how Wheat could be scored higher in contact, power, etc... that's when it really hit me that I should stop looking at the name on the card and look at the ratings instead... the names are inconsequential, and if their ratings actually measure up to their real like performance, so be it, but if I manage to land an Eddie Gaedel card with 120 ratings in every offensive category, I'm gonna play him over Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth or whoever else might play his position, and I'll be ok with it ![]() figure in v22, I'll be back for PT as usual (waiting until the first Monday to create my teams again to get the full week of entry league), and will probably spend more time in solo mode with my Beer League like I have down the stretch here |

Ok, since my team IS the Southpaws, I guess... sigh... I will vote for them too.
I share your disaffection for Perfect Team. I am playing as a team in the Brewster league, and it is much more fulfilling than PT ever was.

The nostalgia of those names is what drew me to the game. OOTP has ruined that part of it, the most important part for me. |

B221 and S338
We seem to have done fairly well. Nice to see that the iron teams got pulled so there will be a chance for the Wood Ducks to actually play some OL games in season 50.
I see something amiss in gold, but otherwise it looks pretty good. Hopefully we have spirited races for our last official go round in PT21. Good luck to all. I will keep open the Founders Cup vote until the end of the season, but the Southpaws look like a heavy favorite. |

No votes for Coney Island?
Congrats to all. I have been looking in from time to time on OL as I really enjoyed being part of it the last two seasons. I can sum in a few words my feelings on this years version of the game-Since I left OL I have not logged into PT even out of curiosity to see how my teams have fared. Been concentrating on my random debut league and playing FHM7. Odds are I will join again with one team only. |

Diamond league:
unless the schedule changes, Laramie and Cary will play each other a handful of times, but doesn't look like any interleague OL games.... Norwood will get to beat up on Waffletown 19 times so plenty of games there

You could vote for them. Since you didn't indicate your preference, I'll count it for the Rebels.

Even though we've nominated the top contenders, I'm going off the board and voting for the perpetual OL Iron champions of the Universe, the Otonokizaka Muse. We have taken winning OL Iron and made it a science.
It's like Marge Simpson once said... "I can hit that one pin alright, but the rest of them don't even wobble" If you can't tell this is a joke post and not meant to be taken seriously at all. |
