I must be missing something about Discord. I'm on the OOTP server plus about 8 others (all of my hobbies and interests) and I just have a hard time following the conversations. It's like standing in a gymnasium and trying to listen and understand 20 different conversations at a time. I'm trying to wrap my head around it, as I'm an old man* but doing my best not to be crotchety

* In "internet terms." I really don't feel that old.

I've stayed away from Twitch. I don't have any interest in the drops, I spend enough time in this game without it. But it's all videos and streams, right? Is there any reason for me to get into Twitch if I am using YouTube? I'm assuming from your statement that the devs post updates on Twitch, is it done via video?

Not to say Discord is perfect (it's far from it) but this is definitely a case of adapt or get left behind that is nothing new to the internet. It's become fairly clear that Discord and Twitch are the primary means of communication for OOTP especially when it comes to PT stuff. Majority of the playerbase has adapted, the ones that refuse to do so give off some serious "back in my day" crotchety old man vibes.

At least it's not like some other developers that only communicate via twitter.

The Big Reveal is Thursdays at 9pm eastern. This Week in Perfect Team, where Dish goes over the new card and mission releases.

I wouldn't be so hasty on labeling the forums as "antique".

As someone here has said, Discord and Twitch move at a much faster pace - designed to cover a lot of smaller information in a very short time. The exact opposite of focused and studied discussion on a particular subject as happens in the forums.

Two platforms for two different type discussions.

Personally, I'm not complaining about Discord or Twitch - they're simply not the fast paced chatter I wish to take part in. I'm more of a slow "forums type guy" where I can bounce ideas back and forth with people and the developers (if they choose to take part).

My complaint is that the powers-to-be have abandoned the attention they use to provide to these forums. I can't count the number of times questions have been asked here only to find out they were answered on Discord or Twitch. Is it that hard to assign someone to insure answers are posted on both platforms?

Traffic here is far less than it was in the past. Many have already moved to the other platforms and many others have simply quit visiting as often. If the forums disappear, there simply won't be a place to voice game concerns in detail. Solutions will become the property of the game developers with less input from the customer base.

I hope it doesn't go there.

Slack does a much better job at giving you the faster pace of discord but also allowing for in-depth discussions via threads (discord sorta added this but it's clunky and much harder to use in an effective manner.). Unfortunately Slack priced itself out of the space that discord now dominates and I don't see them recovering any ground there.

I don't see the forums going anywhere as long as companies have a website. If you already have the hardware running the site there's no reason to get rid of the forum. Nor should they go anywhere, I am a fan of forums and the type of communication they allow.

The devs/community team here would definitely benefit from a forum facelift and some better media platform integration. It would be insanely easy to automate announcement/news sharing across multiple platforms (official twitter, discord, and here). Slightly more work but they could then integrate it into the game proper (showing the twitter feed with the news on the manager home screen?). Also making forums more approachable by doing things like condensing the number of sub forums wouldn't hurt (OOTP23 has 11 not counting the mod sub forums, it could easily be condensed down to 4.. OOTP General Discussion/PT Discussion/Tech Support/Mods)
