I contemplated a few ideas for this one, including a Daniel Boone-type silhouette, a silhouette of Andrew Jackson, crossed rifles and the historic V-logo, but in the end I opted for the stars from the flag. As far as colors, I don't have anything in particular in mind. However, I'll mention I am using the following logos from you in this league so something that is unique from these:

Detroit Chiefs
Cleveland Lakers (blue and white logo)
Minnesota Muskies
New York Giants
Washington Capitals
St. Louis Lions
Chicago Bruins (White Blue primary)
Brooklyn Kings
Cincinnati Buckeyes (Green and white)
Pittsburgh Arsenal
Baltimore Cannons

These are fantastic.

If you ever get a chance, I would love to see this Bangor Sawyers re-done to fit this style.

This was made for me years ago using a Central Maine Railroad logo as a base.

Thirsty script medium. There is also a similar font at Lost Type called Wisdom Script - I believe the primary difference is in the upper-case letters.

They're...they're...beautiful.

Seriously amazing work. Better than I could have envisioned. I am going to use the second of the logos. I like the orange as a drop shadow in the OWLS name.

How much information of this original logo did you want the new one to incorporate?

Awesome, I'm glad that you like them. I agree with you that the type usually looks better when the drop shadow is the darker of the colors. I just wasn't sure if these had enough color.

Is this version okay?

As far as the shapes, lines, stripes, etc. go, I create almost all of them from scratch with each logo. I don't really have a template, but I'm more than happy to share my .psd files with anyone that might get some use out of them. As far as the images go, I try to use things that are in the public domain and keep them simple.
