Spritze DB's for OOTP11 - Page 40

This looks very interesting and I would like to try it out. Is there somewhere a step by step instruction for downloading and using it -- let's say, for people who have zero knowledge of how to use computers?

I can click the link, download the file into the OOTP folder, but from there.... no clue what to do after that.

New one on OOTP Wiki and Dropbox
Major League and PCL players who debuted
1871-1912 now as well as 1940-1974
Plus added a few new unusual characters like Dwight Eisenhower who was historically significant in non-baseball ways.

I believe this matches the old file just with more player years available. Players should still have the same debuts just different stats. More complete histories.

Yes, that will be fun. You are right about that.

I DL'd the file and took a look at it. There are the usual files and some with an ootp prefix. What or how are these used or not?

OOTP* files are just copies of the ones that came with OOTP16. Not used.

Spritze, a few questions.

1) Do I have to start a new game, or can I switch to your database mid-game?
2) How do I switch the pathway to use your stuff? I'm not good at all the technical stuff, so talk me through it pretty simply. I have downloaded your file.

If you already have a historical game or a random debut game going using the default DB or his previous DB you can switch mid game. Ihave and have had no issues.

After you downloaded the file, go to the html line ( whatever it's called, waiting for someone to tell me what it is called) copy it using keyboard controls CTL-C. Go to league settings - historical or ina custom game options. Look for the database path and paste the thing you copied into there using CTRL-V.
Here what mine looks like.

This version does not import the players as high schoolers. I compared the master.csv for this version and the previous version. For example in the previous version, Sherry Magee's first year in the master.csv is 1902. In this version, it is not till 1903.His fake 1902 year is in the batting.csv. I noticed this because when I ran a draft for 1902, I was getting 29-year-olds in the pool.

My current copy shows 1902 in the master for Magee not 1903. 1903 is what the regular OOTP master has.

I'll be setting up a new download tomorrow with 2015 added anyway. Use that.

Did this ever happens? Most recent file that I can find is from October. I had a few anomalies, but I was waiting to see if they were corrected before I started blabbing on.

OOTPWiki = No - I was not able to update the file.

Just finished adding the full careers of players who debuted in 1913. I'll be updating the files again after testing over the next few days.

If you have noted challenges I will check them out and include fixes with the next release.

One small mistake I found in the database ... simply because he's my all-time favorite player:

Robin Yount's birthplace is listed as Danville, Virginia ... but it actually is Danville, Illinois.

But your database simply is awesome
