Again, Old News, but Official

The Rustlers capture Iron. In the PT playoffs, Hartford visits Hooterville for the right to (most likely) get clobbered by the whale that Terra Incognita will face if they succeed in the wild card game. No NC teams from OL made the playoffs.

Sierra Vista and Bluffton will remain in iron. Vlora is headed back to stone. I'm not sure exactly how the promotions run this year. If it's still necessary to make the final eight, then Terra Incgonita will stay with a wild card loss. Right now, Hartford shows as remaining, but they are in the final eight. As I said, I'm not sure what changes there are this year, so I can't be clearer.

The Wrap Up

Thanks for a job well done in 2026. Here's hoping we get everybody in for 2027. Please, check your Friends List carefully and submit, submit, submit. It's of a manageable size, so a little diligence on our part will make it perfect.

Good luck to all still playing. Please post any World Series victories. I kind of like the OL badges. If you'd rather not, that's okay, though.

Coney Island gets a boost in time for the playoffs. I was ready to unload Wilcy Moore at the end of the season. I took a look to see what he is going for and apparently he is a hot card in the '27 Yankees collection so I got him sold and brought in Red Ames and Randy Johnson with some change left over. Long term may not be the greatest but if I look at it as a GM would a trade, I think it would be an easy decision.

Red Ames was a sentimental pickup. He was an original Warrior back from when I was in an APBA online league about 20 years ago. I tried with last years PT Warriors team to collect as many as I could but several weren't in the game and the team wouldn't be very good. Last year I had as many as nine but I think only five remained (haven't logged into PT20 in weeks). Ames joins Three Finger Brown as an original Warrior on this years squad. Ames, Brown, Frank Smith and Ray Collins (who is too rich for my blood in the AH) anchored my rotation. I have never seen Smith in PT

Wow, twenty years ago is just when I left a play-by-mail Strat-O-Matic league that had begun in 1973 or 4. I'm not sure because I was only in from '84, I think. I know what you mean about trying to get your old players. ESSOM was a keeper league that drafted newly carded players each year. There were separate AL and NL leagues, so crossovers were limited a bit. Twas great fun. I believe it went on-line a couple of years after I left, when everyone finally switched over to the computer game. I lost track, but I believe they also became a fairly extensive head-to-head league. Could still be going. Thanks for reminding me of it.

I think the league I was in only lasted 4 maybe 5 seasons. Studying for the draft became very difficult. You kept players and followed his career year by year so you had to make sure you had no holes in your lineup. Injuries were off, you can only play someone within 10% of his games played.

I don't have any of the records or manager contacts from that game-I always wonder if I am going to bump into one of the members here.

Jefferson Valley won their WC scoring six runs over the last 3 innings in a come from behind 12-7 victory. Now a date with the Hamilton Ding Jackers whose game one starter is a perfect Lefty Grove. The Rebels beat them 8 times in 19 tries, a tall order but lets see if they can beat them 3 times in 5 tries.

Looks like the Rebels head to Iron next week regardless of the outcome.

Aaaaand Brigadoon continues my tradition of losing in the Wild Card game. However, I can't be too disappointed, since we lost to a 2-run homer in the 12th inning to a team that won 102 games (and underperformed by 5 games!). So it was a match of equals and ended up going to the wire.

Port Ruppert lost their wild card game against Krikkit, so that means only Coney Island and Krikkit are moving up to Silver, while most of us are staying put in Bronze.Otonokizaka is relegated to Iron.

I made the play-offs in Gold. So I think I am going to get promoted. I'm sure I will get annihilated at the next level. So, hopefully I will see some of my OL friends back in Gold the week after next!!

So Caspers and Southpaws both head to their respective sub-league series, Caspers by beating Voltiguers and Southpaws by beating Mermen 3-0. If they both win their next series, they will meet in the Silver League Series!

Stone is done for the season. The Labrats and Rebels both flamed out in the Division Series. Both teams will be moving up.

In Bronze, Krikkit dropped a game five decision to the 122 win Earthquake team who will now take on Coney Island in the Sub League series.

Okay, then

Since the other two I can check got updated, let me add that Hooterville is up against the mostly 100's Bats team that eliminated Terra Incognita in four, but they have already won a game, so go Hooterville! They're the only OL left in I156. They, Terra Incognita, and Hartford are going up to bronze, which will have at least 8 teams. Full check-in later. Some things to do now. Good luck to all who remain.

Ring Road released from Rookie purgatory

Ring Road fell victim to the 3-1-Curse in the Rookie Sub-League series, but will still move up next season. Ring Road finally finished several missions which propelled them to a vastly improved season.

Coney Island comes back from a 3 games to 2 deficit to beat the Earthquakes in 7 and advance to the Bronze League Series. They are awaiting the winner of the Ouran vs. Laramie series which is awaiting its game seven.

Last season Ouran beat up on the Warriors pretty good. Either way I can only hope their game goes 36 innings......

As far as I can tell...

These are the league placements for 2027. Please make sure to check your friends list so all get included. Cochise County has always been missed, but would now give us an 8th team in iron.

Here we go (subject to correction by smarter people than me):

Diamond - Shinbone Stars (Those tasty Keepers Cakes make you strong)

Gold - Western Pointe (Just Won Series, congrats!) Cary

Silver - Coney Island, Krikkit, Palolo, Highland, Asylum

Bronze - Hooterville, Terra Incognita, Hartford, Port Ruppert, Brigadoon, Annandale, Waffletown, Asheboro

Iron - Sierra Vista, Bluffton, Transylvania, K-Town, Otanokizaka, Jefferson Valley, Left Coast, Cochise County

Stone - Vlora, Daytona Beach, Fort Huachuca, Ring Road

Please make sure to check carefully. Be nice to do four crowns next week, as long as PT seeds the teams well. Let's at least do our part.

I believe this is the only one.

I know for sure that Coney Island lost in their World Series, and I believe I checked and no other OL team prevailed in PT except the Caspers. Congratulations!

After winning Game 1 the Warriors folded like a cheap tent and dropped 4 straight to Laramie.
