I don't see the harm in having this. It's another option that some people would use, possibly even me.

I don't have a problem at all with "science fictional" or "fantastical" ideas being used in OOTP. It just gives the game more options.

So does that mean if/when u play a historical league u dont switch your parks to astroturf? like Busch, Kauffman, Skydome, even Comiskey.

I don't play historical. Just current.

I am not sure, however, how you can be so certain that there will never be a women's baseball league. Unlike many science fiction ideas, all this one would require is enough people committed to the idea, and there seem to be a quite a few on these boards. I'm not sure on what basis you are entirely discounting the possibility.
The basis? The simplest. People won't pay to see it.

This is becoming a very political thread. The way I see it, the ones who are supporting this ridiculous feature are the politically correct leftist types who were taught in school that everything and everyone is equal all of the time.

If someone started a women's baseball league (that actually plays regulation baseball, to save an argument) tomorrow then it would exist. It doesn't have to make money or attract fans to exist. As I've said, I see no reason why a women's league couldn't be self-sustaining, as long as it was well sponsored and well run.

I wouldn't have put it like that, but still...

I'm certainly a leftist, but I wouldn't say I was taught it in school.

If Markus was to add women to the game, won't he have to completely rewrite the play-by-play? Have to add tons of things about what each playing is thinking. What they are trying to do etc. I love watching the College softball tournament, but the announcing is dreadful.

Different ideas are one thing...but threads like this are the reason why a lot of people laugh at this forum...and I can really see why!! As said prior, this is not a fantasy/role playing game. The women, the hobbits, the leagues in Gayna...it's just silliness.

Exactly. Threads like this are why people I know both online and offline laugh at us for playing OOTP. "At least Baseball Mogul/SOM/Diamond Mind/Action PC/MLB The Show/whatever is about REAL BASEBALL," they will post or IM me or say to me, "and not about hobbits/Vikings/weird fictional worlds/robots/Ghana/women/whatever."

The problem is that we have a vocal minority who appear to believe that this IS a role-playing game and not a baseball simulation and who lobbies Markus that way. And they also start threads like this one.

You're right, though, it really is just silliness.

No. That's just as wrong a generalization as saying that everyone who opposes women in OOTP must be a sexist.

To some of these guys, OOTP isn't a baseball simulation but instead is a role-playing game, and they just want to add a new type of character to the mix. Yes, it's silliness, and it ignores reality, but they just don't care about that.

Well, yeah, That's kind of the point, isn't it? I'd imagine it's one of the reason "these people" prefer OOTP, because they know it's more open to what they want to do.

The last I remember baseball mogul has the option for women in it.

At least 2008 did. Unless you just avoided it and went on with your life.

Anyone who thinks MLB The Show is "real baseball" is probably beyond help, and people who laugh at you for what game you play are probably not worth your time, or energy, to care about.
