To my surprise I find that a thing working so-so in the past version doesn't work at all now.
The historical correct managers for the year you start a save in historical mode was correct in the past. Now they pop up as "free agents" and all teams are filled with fake managers ? I was sadly surprise after first locating many true and real managers in the free personal pool. I thought for once the game actually imported managers that really was unemployed the season I started. Now it was even worse than in old versions of the game after those real managers for the starting season was fixed. How difficult could it be to have managers/coaches imported as one can do with players ?? They are in the DB and it would be nice to be able to import them with their true win-loss records up to the season you start with Still the maximum would be to get correct coaches on all teams in the majors, pitching, hitting and bench coaches. It makes a historical play much more cool. |

Robinson Cano's birthplace (San Pedro de Marcoris) is missing.
Mike Epstein's birthplace (The Bronx) is missing. Oddly, The Bronx does not appear as an option in the City list, either. Red Rolfe's birthplace (Penacook, NH) is missing from the DB. |

Larry Dierker's birthplace is listed as Hollywood, Florida. But he was actually born in Hollywood, Calif. And the game only lists "West Hollywood, Calif." as an option.

There's a long explanation of why The Bronx, Staten Island and Queens are not in the db (Mostly related to the naming of new teams in fictional leagues), but suffice to say that it's an intentional decision. There are good reasons both to have them in and to leave them out, and it's a tough choice. Penacook, NH likely won't be in the db, as it is neither a current city nor a census designated place. Given that is is Rolfe's listed birthplace though, we might make an exception and add it in. I'll have to see after doing some more research. Overall, just to add a note/update, I'm working on totally revamping the US cities in the world db. Right now, basically we have all cities listed at 1000 population or more based on 2008 or 2009ish numbers in the db. A handful of other cities have been manually added, but I'm working on going through the db and systematically adding in all towns and CDP's in the US that are missing. It's a big project though and honestly not a major priority compared to other things that need to be done, so it will take some time. It's more an OOTP22 thing to be realistic, but it is being worked on.

Added Van Meter to the db but Danway is another town like Penacook, NH where neither is a CDP or official town, so they lack any current population data. Thus making it a tough call on whether to add them into the db with fictional (guesstimate) population or to leave them out.

We're working on merging the historical db into the roster db though, which will fix this issue when it happens. More of an OOTP22 thing at this point though. As for Hollywood, Calif., probably that will never be in the db, as Hollywood is really just a neighborhood of Los Angeles, and we don't list neighborhoods as their own cities/towns in the db, even when they are bigger than most cities or towns, as in the case of Hollywood. Ultimately, the solution here will likely be to change Dierker's birthplace to Los Angeles.

Looks like we have another Gromek situation. I just imported 1983 Bill Gullickson. He came in with a birthdate of February 20, 3952, and an age of 27745 years, 5337 days. He's also listed as a third baseman, and has no stats whatsoever.
Edit: Never mind -- it looks like I accidentally imported Gullickson using a year of 0. Honestly, though, that's probably something the game shouldn't allow to happen. Last edited by dewelar; 08-05-2020 at 10:21 AM. Reason: My mistake |

Sorry, I wasn't clear in trying to differentiate between different things. SPDM is in the DB, Cano is listed as not having a place of birth.

I also found duplicate players about 12 games into the 1961 season. Don Blasingame and Ed Bailey are both on the Giants and the Reds at the same time. I am playing with real linups and transactions.
Now I just found Turk Farrell on 2 teams. He's on my Phillies and he's also on the Dodgers. I'm getting ready to play a series against the Dodgers and he's in their bullpen. I'm getting the feeling there are probably more. I think the whole 1961 season is messed up. Don Demeter and Charley Smith also on both the Phillies and Dodgers. Demeter and Smith just got traded to the Phillies. Yet, they are still on the Dodgers, too. This is turning into a big mess. FIXED!!! I restarted the game and season 1961 with a clean facegen folder with file names of players names NOT player ID's. Don Blasingame moved from the Giants to the Reds correctly, now. Don't know if that was the problem for sure but it worked for me. Last edited by zappa1; 08-28-2020 at 05:18 PM. |

(This is a secondary post - Apologies for this as I am new to the forums and this looks like the correct area to post errors regarding players stats)
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this post - if not please direct me to where I should post this - but here is my issue/concern. Recently released was the 96 Overall Derek Jeter Peak Card (Year 2000). I'm not one to complain about player ratings, in fact this is my first ever forum post, but Peak Derek Jeter has a Stealing Rating of 10. This makes him have one of the Lowest rated 'Sealing Rating' of the Yankees. For comparison, Don Mattingly has a 'Stealing Rating' of 11. Yogi Berra has a 'Stealing Rating' of 10. Jorge Posada has a 'Stealing Rating' of 47... Derek Jeter for his career Stole 358 Bases and was Caught Stealing 97 times. So of this 455 Steal Attempts, he was successful at a 78.3% rate. His 2000 season, which when you highlight the card is the year the card seems to be based off of, Jeter had 22 Successful steals compared to 4 Caught Stealing. Jeter's Worst Years Stealing were either 1997 (23 Steals to 12 Caught Stealing) or 2007 (15 Steals to 8 Caught Stealing) I really am not one to complain about ratings. I know many are subjective and stats are used as a guideline of sorts to give as accurate a rating as possible. Even Derek Jeter's Bronze 66 card has his Stealing at a 74... which is really where he Peak should at minimum begin, if not be higher. I just wanted to point this out because for an all time player who was One Vote shy of a unanimous Hall of Fame Career, he in no way deserves a 10 rating for Stealing based on his Career Stats, especially for a Diamond Peak card. Also, as a hardcore Yankee fan, to wait so long for a good playable Derek Jeter card to come out, only to see what can only be an error in his 'Stealing' rating, was rough. Thank you kindly for you time. I love OOTP Baseball and I do hope that the right people take a look at this statistic and reconsider. It just doesn't seem correct based off of his performance over his career for a Peak card. Jose E Ramirez (this guy: https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...1.shtml)'s birthplace isn't set. Bani is in the DB, it's just not set in his record.

Historical Database Issue on Mac
I am trying run historical leagues on a mac, one online league (1994 season) and an offline league (1989). I am not sure if my player database is corrupt, however, I have seen an issue in two cases:
1) I cannot bring in a full amateur draft class when I am trying to bring in the player pool (only loads 23 players). 2) I am trying to create a 1989 historical start, and it is not bringing in the full teams (only see 7 prospects). Can someone help? My path to the historical database is: /Users/dbernstein/Library/Containers/com.ootpdevelopments.ootp21macqlm/Data/Library/Application Support/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 21/stats/ Please help! |

Catcher defensive rating issue
I noticed there was another user who mentioned what I believe is the same issue elsewhere, but the replies were unhelpful and dismissive on that thread and I can't find it now, so I'll post the observation here, hopefully in a crystal clear way. I'll set up the issue as a little experiment that's easy to reproduce, so hopefully devs et al. see clearly what I mean.
4 test groups: a) Catchers OOTP 20 have MLB experience in real life b) Catchers OOTP 20 no MLB experience in real life (played in minors only) c) Catchers OOTP 21 have MLB experience in real life d) Catchers OOTP 21 no MLB experience in real life (played in minors only) Start OOTP20, setup a historical game, I chose from the Golden Age era but I don't think it matters. Let the game be created, and save it. Do the same using the same settings in OOTP21. Save. I took no in-game actions (i.e. altered nothing, did nothing, I just looked at ratings in the games that OOTP20 and OOTP21 created). Now in these games you've set up, look at catcher ratings (I used the player editor to get the rating, to make sure it wasn't a scouting error, but the true number rating). Catchers in group d above will have higher defensive ratings than catchers from the other 3 groups. An unusual number of catchers from that group will have almost perfect defensive ability. I can think of no rationale for this, I cannot believe it was intentional, and I reproduced it on different machines with fresh installs a few times, so here you go, historical db bug issue report. For myself, I wish I could simply use whatever method converted historical stats to ratings in OOTP20 to do that for OOTP21. |
