The Charlotte Knights will be playing October baseball! They have captured the NL South crown, and look to fight for one of the top two AL Playoff spots. This is their 5th time ever in the playoffs (and in a row) and their first ever division crown. There are now six spots in the playoffs left up for grabs.

Yamauchi's 4 homer night leads Orioles over Astros 12-4

WP: Cesar Ramos (26-0)
LP: Jessie Blume (7-4)

BAL Player of the Game: Hideyori Yamauchi (4-5, 4 HR, 6 RBI)
HOU Player of the Game: Joe Coggins (2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2B)

Homers:
BAL: Hideyori Yamauchi 4 (51), Buster Bigs 2 (58), David Taylor (2)
HOU: None

Record: 145-7

Injury Report: Following Yamauchi's fourth home run (a 457 foot blast), a really spineless pitcher named Doug Hess plunked an unsuspecting David Moreno in the head. He was removed from the ball game and was diagnosed with blurred vision, something that will affect him for a week. I hope Doug Hess gives up another four home runs next time he pitches, he deserves it.

First of all, Montreal Expos are moving up! They've locked down the second NL wild card spot with an 89-64 record and look to win their first championship. This is the Expos' 5th consecutive playoff appearance.

Second of all, the New York Yankees are also in! They've locked down the first AL wild card spot with an 92-61 record. This is the Yankees' first ever playoff appearance after many disappointing seasons, so we will see if they can make the most of it. There are now four playoff spots left up for grabs.

Also, the Expos clinching the final wild card spot ensures that most of the other NL teams are eliminated, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, who still have not yet made the playoffs. The Norfolk Tides were also eliminated from playoff contention, leaving 9 teams left in the playoff hunt.

The final NL playoff spot will go to the winner of the NL South, which is currently contested between the Miami Marlins and the Mexico City Vaqueros.

- Baltimore has placed 1B Marcus Ferrell (5.0, 5.0) on the 60-day injured list with a sprained knee. He will miss the rest of the season, including the playoffs. This is the second key contributor for the Orioles that will miss the playoffs, with Ferrell joining RF Scott Kinsey. No corresponding move has been made.

September 18, 2028 General News

- The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed LF Ross Lamb (4.0, 4.0) to a seven year contract extension, worth $167,800,800. This is a HUGE deal for Pittsburgh, where it seemed like they were at a crossroads in terms of their future. They had been getting worse over the past few years, and with Lamb a free agent after the 2028 season, it seemed like they would enter a full rebuild. Instead, Lamb will be contributing for the team for seven more years.

Some of his stats and accolades:
1,025 games, .308/.350/.877, 160 HR, 630 RBI, 30.2 WAR

3 Time All Star
2024, 2025 Platinum Stick Award for LF
2025 NL MVP Award
