Hey Stanley, is there maybe something going on with your laptop's network adapter or wifi card? If you have a desktop that can connect but your laptop in the same house can't it seems like it might be the wifi.

Have you tried plugging an ethernet cable into the laptop and connecting? If that works then that's more evidence that the wifi card is flaking out.

No the problem's definitely with OOTP. I swapped out the ethernet into the laptop the first day to make sure it wasn't my wifi. The laptop was fine until this morning. The phones in the house all seamlessly shift into wifi mode from data, etc. I had my son check and my wifi speed's actually pretty good compared to the direct connect, so my modem is fine. Everything else works except, PT 20 (which I have left uninstalled) and PT 21, which I reinstalled early on in the problem. I'm not gonna mess with the laptop in the hope it returns to use. I never had 20 on the laptop. I guess the problem is isolated to few enough cases to make it hard for them to find. Ah, well. Hope I at least win a pack or two from the last tourneys I could enter.

Is it possibly a weird DNS error? If you have VPN software available you could try turning your VPN on and then connecting to see if that makes the problem go away.

It also makes sense to try to eliminate your ISP as a potential cause. You could take your laptop to a different place like a Starbucks or a place that offers free Wi-Fi (or the library if your library is open) and see if you can connect from a different network. Maybe none of that will work but all of those actions will eliminate other potential causes of the problem. That is, unless you are 100% sure it is a problem with OOTP’s servers in which case just keep complaining to them.

I would be inclined to try this as the next step. Or, safer yet, a friends house.


Side note, the transformation is complete, so the Bombers will be back in OL next week. Trout and his -0.8 WAR in Diamond across a couple seasons has been banished from the team!

Too much of a coincidence that only their stuff is giving me problems for me to go through that many gyrations. They mentioned something about certificates expiring with their servers. My guess is that they're not a big enough fish for their server to give them a great deal of attention for what seems like a fairly narrow problem. Probably not enough users affected for the server folks to care that much. My guess is that OOTP is doing most of the investigating and they're a small team. Just gonna wait it out. Complaining more doesn't add anything at this point. I'm sure they're embarrassed by this. Thanks for your help.

It seems I had a senior moment and screwed up the settings, so the problem, Dear Brutus, was not in our stars. Thankfully my son set me to rights, with only a wry smile, rather than poking the fun I deserved.

I am not sure what the PT21 baseball gods have against us this season however 90% of the OL teams in Silver 286 are bottom feeders.


Even Jason's syrups were having a really tough go of it, early on sporting a 6-14 record after the 1st 20 games.


The majority of our top pitchers are having "issues" and all of my big bats decided to take the season off, all at the same time.



If nothing changes, it will be a long week!

I think I discovered the problem.... instead of the usual supply of bats from the Louisville Slugger company, Waffletown was mistakenly sent pool noodles (which accounts for their inability to hit the ball this season).... combine that with the pitching staff, who are trying a radical new pitching style: asking the opposing batter where they want the ball and tossing it in underhand.... makes for a losing combination

might need a team meeting to rethink things.

(gotta say, the temptation to ignore the pre-ww2 restriction and bring aboard Ichiro and Bagwell is growing larger after each dismal game we play)

Palolo went 2-5 and yesterday but still holds the lead at the halfway point of the season. Krikkit was 3-0 yesterday close the gap and sits in second (Coney Island has completed their schedule and is ineligible).

The Scorpions dominated Hooterville in a home-and-home to grab the top spot in OL S286.


In PT play, it seems that a few OL teams are beginning a slow rise, so the calendar may not be their friend.

I have an important correction to make: when I looked through everyone's schedule I thought Shinbone was ineligible because I only saw 7 OL games for them. Somehow I missed a 3 game series vs Highland that happened in June. So as it turns out Shinbone IS eligible for the crown. And look, they're in first place!

Shinbone's last 3 OL games are against Weston Pointe right after the All-Star break. That series will go a long way towards establishing who brings home the Diamond OL crown.

After further review of the upcoming schedule in OL B241, only Daytona Beach plays more than 10 OL games (12). The scheduling gods have conspired to perfectly place the 4 Bronze teams in a way they don't meet.

Meeting in the postseason also looks unlikely, as only Ring Road holds a solid spot in the playoff chase, with Daytona Beach right on the edge of a wild card.

Finished the AL Central missions and now working on AL East. I have BAL and BOS done....flipped the gold SE cards to fund more mission needed cards. Currently on the Yankees, which I think will take a few weeks at least to accomplish. TB and TOR look relatively easy.

Reading on here, it does appear that there are many "carbon copy" teams consisting of most or all of the SE rewards cards, which I may try to shy away from, which will mean selling some to acquire similarly talented cards so my team has a little different identity. I will wait until I finish the mission to do that, probably once I reach gold (if I ever do!)

In the meantime, The hunt continues for my first OL Championship.

I am the webmaster for seasonspastbaseball.com. It is a set of six different computer baseball leagues using Diamond Mind Baseball. I have dabbled with OOTP in the non-PT realm, and love its functionality.....but most of our current members are crusty old farts who abhor change! This isn't about DMB vs OOTP, but rather to point out that the avatar is the logo for our organization.
