Oilers and Canucks played against each other in both the Division Finals and Conference Finals.

Leaving aside the technical isse, from an aesthetics point of view, that's a rather unattractive screen. Not at all an efficient or eye-pleasing way to present the playoff brackets. In this case I would think it good for FHM to blaze its own path here and not echo OOTP's playoffs screen. Especially considering the degree to which playoffs are a part of hockey.

Very good observation. I agree 100%. That is ugly as hell.

They've stuck with the look of ootp. It's almost the exact same.

I think they should at least add the position the team finished in the brackets. Clearly we can identify the order but it would just be easier to look at if it said "1 Montreal Canadiens, 8 Hartford Whalers"

Having a nice little border splitting the east and west would be good too.


As for the screenshot, maybe chicago was betting on their games so were disqualified We just witnessed history here. Edmonton even beat the canucks twice! That would of been a heck of a double series.

Not a good choice IMO.

Heck, the simple screenshots I've put together for a (on hold, regrettably) customizable playoffs proposal for FHM look better, and I wasn't even trying to do anything special other than create the basic interface.

Proper bracket lines, positioning, and spacing are vital in my view to making any sort of playoff screen look good.

Maybe the Black Hawks had to forfeit because they didn't have an available arena. Remember the WHA Chicago Cougars. They had to play playoff games at a Shopping Center's ice arena(or something like that).
