A few noob questions

I'm a total newbie to this game, so I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

First of all, when going to "manager options" and setting up lines and tactics to assistant... who is my assistant? Is it my head coach? And how can I let my coach actually do his job? I'm not really into this micromanagement part of the game. I like to exclusively focus on the Gm-ing part.

Secondly, if I go to play (just watching) the game, am I overriding those settings? And will my assistant/coach make changes during the game or will I have to since I clicked "play"?

Finally, anywhere I can go to read up on how to set up up the tactics? It's confusing....

The Assistant is essentially the Game A.I. It's there to help you do what you do not want to do...kinda like an Assistant G.M. would do other tasks just like in real life.

At no point should the game override your settings, unless you have your top settings (this is under the Management Tab) set to Assistant Control. In that case the A.I. may change the lineup. Your Coach will handle all in-game calls, if someone gets injured, or kicked out of a game to adjust the lineup.

Well, first of all, thank you for a very quick response. It's very much appreciated.

As for the AI, I understand that part. I was wondering, though, if it's possible to set my coach to set up tactics, gameplans, etc... I'd like to be able to set up lineups, promote/demote, scratch/dress players, but the head coach to actually coach the games. At least, until I learn more about what each setting does and can set up my own.

I'll definately check out those YT videos.

When you hire a coach it will automaticly change the settings for him to control lineups and tactics. Even when you resign him. Very annoying

What you want to do then is go to Manager Tab at the top, and under the BASICS heading, click Manager options. In the bottom right hand corner you should see options for you or your Assistant to control things. You make those choices.
