Dreaming of PT24
While feeling like I am going through the motions this year, I find myself hoping that the game can bounce back next spring and have not just a smooth launch (including GO) but a strong push to bring new A LOT of users into the game.
With less than 12,000 teams in our universe right now, being in Diamond doesn’t feel nearly as special as it did last year when there were about 50,000 teams at this point in the summer. I get that there are probably about the same number of dedicated players against whom we compete at the top levels but staying in Diamond (or Perfect) for 20+ consecutive weeks felt like an achievement last year when only about 1.5% of the teams were at that level. My current streak of ten weeks at Diamond/Perfect feels much more mundane knowing that about 7% of all teams are at the top levels at any given time. Anyway, I’ll head up to the Temple Of Game Popularity and make the necessary sacrifices to help bring a huge start for PT24 in the spring.

There were only ~25000 teams at this point last year, but a 50% decline in number of teams has to be worrisome.

Money with no return
I have been almost like a gambling habit myself sometimes seeing a major player and trying to get him either by huge PP amount or pulling card packs. So I think, but I have not reached that point just have tried to not reach for my wallet as much and wait till i have PP for the players i want. But I could see how people could easily spend a lot of money on this game, with no return. Meaning like I have played what if sports baseball since 2010. You buy the teams yes then have a budget. you can buy like 6 teams for 30 bucks, but anyway my point is that if you win a championship you are then entered into a Tournament and winner gets 200.00 bucks. So I think for perfect team for the guys who spend a lot of money on here get some kind of return other than a possible championship symbol on their team card maybe people wont have so much buyers remorse. I have some times thought myself ok I'm playing this season with no spending of real money, hmmm I broke every season... Especially on the first perfect teams I spent a lot and now that game is not even active so all the money i spent I can't even access anymore it was thrown out the window, so I can see how people just don't even play anymore to save their money with no return. I should have back then invested it in bitcoin lol...

Yes, PT24 needs to make a comeback.
I'm getting my thrills with the classic game, but PT has fallen on hard times this year... partially because of the stuttering start, but also because the game mechanics have made competitiveness much harder to achieve. By the AllStar break, most teams consisted of Diamond Players but were still struggling to stay in Silver/Bronze. If your an FTP player without a 24/7 live console on the game, that's pretty much the end of the season for you. I'm hoping the powers-to-be can inject some life back into PT24. |

My experience this year has definitely been less exciting than last DESPITE my teams' ability to stay in Diamond. Original #1 team is a great example. In Diamond since Week 6, 1208-1200 record, good enough to play .500 ball overall and make the playoffs twice, currently no way to make more than minor improvements, snooze.
My other two teams have moved ahead thanks to better card pulls, but they're in a 2nd-place rut for the most part, a lot of it due to the apparently-inevitable card volatility from week to week. Awfully hard to build the team knowing that your top players can and will go from world-beaters to scrubbies depending on which day or which week we're in. I'm having more fun than this with my GO team slaughtering all the noobs, which should be good for another month until they, too, join the Diamond slog (since their card pulls from tourney packs have been below average). |
