A's Win in 11 Innings
April 26th, 1950 (Wednesday) - Philadelphia, PA
W/L record 6-4 (.600), 3rd place, .5 GB
The Athletics dispatched the first place Washington Senators last night at Shibe Park by a score of 3-2 in 11 innings.
Paul Lehner got the game winning hit off Lloyd Hittle (0-1) scoring Billy Hitchcock from third base. Hitchcock's one out base hit combined with some defensive miscues in the Senator's outfield allowed Elmer Valo to single putting runners on the corners, setting the table for Lehner.
Philadelphia starter Alex Kellner pitched four-hit shutout baseball going into the ninth inning before allowing Washington to tie the game. Bob Hooper gets his first win of the season in relief for the Athletics.
The A's take on the Senators tomorrow night to complete the quick two game series before Boston heads into town for the weekend.
