Long-time OOTP Franchise fan here! I’ve always been super into it and then I stumbled upon this new button on the front page called Perfect Team. And just like that, I was hooked. Actually, my journey started way back with FPS Baseball 94, which totally feels like the inspiration for OOTP. The similarities are wild—so many ideas seem straight out of that game.
Since I'm a huge fan of this franchise, I'm always up for sharing what I've learned and maybe even giving some tips on how to enjoy it even more.

Recap and targets from 2028 Gold
Previous post about setting targets and line-ups : Gold .308 - Year 2028
Finished season with positive record and avoided promotion to Diamond, main thing was to improve team overall which seemed to work to some degree.
2028 Hawkins Flayers MVP - Hardware Heroes 1B Roger Connor NYG 1885
5.1 WAR, .303 AVG, .410 OBP, 6.2 RC/27, 3.65 WPA, 6.0 ZR
He was the only player in the league to have an on-base percentage (OBP) over .400 and was doing everything right, except for being caught stealing a little too often. He also received the AC Great Glove Award. I promoted him to lower strikeouts and to have a proper leadoff hitter, but I never expected such an overachieving performance.
Offense
This team is in dire need of offensive upgrades. However, every time I opened packs or finished missions, I kept getting pitchers instead of the position players I needed. Eventually, I decided to upgrade my center fielder, since LIVE 100 Byron Buxton was a disappointment and a liability. I ended up getting a 97 Hardware Heroes RF Jesse Barfield (TOR 1986) card for 14k, which had both strong offensive and defensive capabilities and could challenge most of the Perfect alternatives.
The lesson here is to not get sentimental about certain players and be willing to demote them to reserves without remorse. Even though it's easier said than done, one must be realistic and accept that not all players will succeed. This applies especially to Perfect cards, as replacing them with a Diamond or Gold just doesn't seem right.
Defense
Regarding pitching, I had a couple of lucky pulls from packs which allowed me to finish "Negro League 1 - Hurlers Level 2" and receive 100 Rube Foster as a reward. I now have plenty of pitchers to cover all spots, but most of the damage was done before the All-Star break, so the final numbers did not look good. I need to examine the bullpen role setup more closely and determine who should play each role. Since there is plenty of stamina, I could possibly demote someone to bring in a lefty utility player to help with offense.
Special note, 87 Hardware Heroes SP Herb Score is just mental, leading team in many categories and finishing with 18-8 record …
KPI's from 2028 and for 2029
There are some more Targets defined for this season, mainly to have better tools in selecting from Market next upgrade as it is going to cost beyond 60K. Luckily I just sold a duplicate 100 Josh Hamilton

Roster for 2029
There are some additions which are highlighted in Green. Still conflicted about which position to upgrade, either 2B and/or 3B, more reasonable is to get one Utility guy that can cover entire Infield. It would also help in sending some of the current unused utility players to reserves and get some specialist Pinch Hitter or Runner.
NB! I am using attachments and images quite a lot as I have not figured out how to make HTML Tables and other features in vBulletin even somewhat pleasing to look at.
NBB! At the moment of posting I noticed having a 0-4 starting record ... that is just mean
