New World Order: The World Baseball League
In 2029 Baseball went global, with the creation of the new World Baseball League. Comprising of Twenty teams divided into two leagues (Pacific and Atlantic.) the competition would contest the WBL Shield.
The Pacific League features teams in Tokyo, Osaka, Sydney, Brisbane, Seattle, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Wellington, Taipai and Seoul.
The Atlantic League features teams in: New York, Boston, London, Manchester, Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Valencia, Paris and Berlin.
The Americans won the first three series, with the New York Sliders clinching the '29 and '30 series and Seattle winning the '31 series. Recently, Osaka appeared five out of the six previous years winning four of them.
But despite this, no real powerhouses have emerged to dominate the series.
This was on my mind as I weighed up my first offer from a WBL team. The Berlin Daggers were a damaged team. Struggling with a low budget and poor attendance I vowed to turn this nothing city into a powerhouse. Their best finish in '31 was 5th, but in the last three years they'd finished 8th, 10th, and 10th. In fact in 2036, they'd failed to reach an average attendance of 1,000,000!
In 10 years I want to win a series. That is my goal. From there, anything is possible.
