The Philadelphia Athletics split a two-game stand by falling to the Tigers 3-1 today at Detroit.
Tigers starter Art Houtteman completed his effort allowing only one earned run and seven hits. The win gives Houtteman five victories agains one loss and an impressive 1.25 ERA over eight starts and 65 innings. Philadelphia starter Alex Kellner pitched well, but is saddled with the defeat. His record slips to 2-5.
Charlie Keller is the offensive player of the day for Detroit going 3 for 4 with an RBI.
The A's head to St. Louis for a double header Sunday. The Browns are tied for 3rd in the American League with a record of 16-14.
