It's a slow time in the off season for us with our roster set we wait patiently for pitchers and catchers to report in February.

There have been a flurry of deals that have occurred over the past week:

12/27/13:
The Yankees pulled out all of the stops today to announce the signing of closer Joel Hanrahan. The 32 year old is one of the game's preeminent playmakers and has definitely proven why he was such an attractive signing. Last season for Boston Hanrahan pitched 78.2 innings racking up 123 K's with 37 saves and a 2.40 ERA. Looks like he will bump an aging Mariano Rivera from the closer role which will be a controversial move in New York to say the least. The deal will pay $47.4 mil. over 3 years with the last year being a player option.

12/29/13:
As speculation mounted in the morning, rumors over a final agreement between 2B Chase Utley and the Los Angeles Dodgers became reality with the star opting for a $49.8 mil. deal over 3 years. Utley who has battled injuries over the past few years was able to post a solid season for Philadelphia in 2013 with a line of .278/.377/.423 in 482 AB. He also added 15 HR 60 RBI 74 RS and 17 SB. LA added another star to an all ready star-studded line up where Utley will man second base and bat 6th in the order.

12/31/13:
Tampa Bay came to terms with veteran starting pitcher Colby Lewis today, locking up the 34 year old to a $28.4 mil., 2 year deal. Lewis went 11-5 for Texas in 2013 posting a 3.91 ERA in 23 starts. Tampa Bay plans to insert Lewis in the middle of their rotation.

1/3/14:
Texas fans welcomed 36 year old Roy Halladay into the fold, as the veteran announced he had reached an agreement with Texas brass. Halladay will earn $52.8 mil. over 3 years. Halladay bounced back from a rough 2012 to post a 13-10 record with a 3.69 ERA over 34 starts for the Phils in 2013. Texas who needed a proven veteran innings eater feels that Halladay can stay healthy and be effective through the end of the deal. He will pitch out of the 3rd spot in the rotation.

1/5/13:
Veteran SP Dan Haren has agreed to a 2 year deal totaling $29.2 mil. to play for the Seattle Mariners. Haren compiled a 13-10 record for the Washington Nationals in 2013 with a 3.96 ERA and 193 K's over 215.2 IP. Haren will pitch out of the #2 spot in the Nationals rotation.
