Standings and 2 month Team Snap Shot

Some other players among the league leaders for the Pirates:
Neil Walker: 4th in OBP (.404), 5th in OPS (.964), 5th in wOBA (.411), 3rd in WAR (2.8), 1st in hits (69), 1st in 2B's (19), t-2nd in RS (40), 3rd in XBH's (27)
There's no question the impact that Neil has had stepping into the lead off spot and being the table setter that he has. With out a doubt he is the team MVP for the 1st 2 months of the season.
Andrew McCutchen: t-4th in BB's (30), 4th in K's (63)
Tim Lincecum: t-1st GS (11), 1st in BB's (35), 3rd in K's (73), 3rd in K's per 9 (10.48)
Francisco Liriano: t-1st in GS (11)

The 2 biggest concerns are the starter's ERA and our team defense. Unfortunately we simply do not have the budget room to acquire a starter but we have some arms in AAA who might be able to step it up. Our defense has mostly been inconsistent. Neil Walker, who's play at 2B I felt was suspect at the beginning of the year has more than made up for his defensive short comings with the bat. Our outfield defense is among the best in the league and Jed Lowrie has been more than serviceable at short. You'll also notice we don't have anyone penciled in at closer as we've been using a committee with Herrera and Grilli getting most of the opportunities and Chris Perez being used as a right handed specialist.
