Texas loses heartbreaking series to Brewers

Posted 08-18-2011 at 04:58 PM by neugey

In a closely contested series, the Rangers lost to the Brewers in the full 5 games. The Brewers powerful offense proved to be too much for the Rangers over the course of the series and the Rangers pitchers gave up a few too many walk, hits and homers to pull out the series. The series went as follows -

The Philadelphia Athletics defeated the New York Yankees Sunday afternoon 6-5 in 11 innings. The A's led early behind the sturdy pitching of Bobby Shantz, but the Yankee bats awoke in the later innings as they stabbed Shantz with three runs in the 7th and then tied the game in the bottom of the 9th forcing the game into overtime.
