2 teams at Washington was one too many

Posted 08-01-2011 at 10:34 AM by AESP_pres (A simulation from 1871 to ?)

Even if the league confidence in the Washington market was high enough last winter to gave a second franchise to the city it was too much for this market.

Today (05/23) was the end of the Washington Olympics. The team did survive two years and got a winning record (22 wins - 19 losses).

Some of the team players were able to sign with a new team following the disbandment of the franchise.

John W. Glenn (Washington, Nationals)...

The end of 71

Posted 08-01-2011 at 02:41 AM by AESP_pres (A simulation from 1871 to ?)

After a first season it is now evident that a professional league of baseball is a viable option. But sadly it was not viable for all the markets as three teams didn't survive after this season...

Fort Wayne had a lot of financial difficulty as the attendance was low wich brought a biggest problem as the players were poorly paid and many of them leaved the team. The team wasn't able to recover and played its last game the august 29 (a 7 to 6 win against Troy).

Mantle chasing Gehrig's "Unbreakable" record?

Posted 07-30-2011 at 09:13 PM by Sinfulrain

In 1946, on the day that Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig took off his Red Sox jersey for the last time... two things were certain. One, the single greatest ballplayer ever to step into a batter's box was gone. And two, that his Career totals of 4014 hits and 730 Home Runs would never EVER be caught, much less broken.

That same year, an upstart left fielder named Stan Musial was traded from his Chicago Cubs to the Philadelphia Phillies... that year, he would hit .370, and rack up 209 hits....
