Freeburg 4, Bunker Hill 3 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

We had a chance to sweep Freeburg, but just couldn't quite get it done. The Firedogs took an early 4-0 lead and made it hold up. Freeburg SP Joe Davis went 6 scoreless innings for the win. We finally got to Freeburg's bullpen in the 8th, putting up 3, but leaving the bases loaded. We also left the bases loaded in the 1st.

Bunker Hill 9, Freeburg 0 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Don't look now, but we've got a winning streak. SP Cliff Sanders scattered 8 hits over 7 scoreless innings for the win. Our offense got in gear, putting 9 runs on the board, capped by a 5-run 8th. PH Cliff Beard delivered the final blow, a pinch-hit 3-run HR in the 8th. Our team batting average is still climbing. It's up to .232 now.

Bunker Hill 3, Freeburg 2 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

We came from behind to win this nail-biter late. LF Craig Clark tied the game up 2-2 in the 8th with a 1-out RBI double and PH Spencer Flynn won it in the 9th with a bases loaded sac fly. C Boyd Adkins went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. The bullpen also deserves a lot of credit for shutting down Freeburg over the last 4 innings without allowing a single baserunner.

Bethalto 7, Bunker Hill 5 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

And we're back to losing. SP Karl Walker went 7 strong innings for Bethalto and drove in 2 runs in the 6th with a double. Bethalto 1B Corbin Mayes was a real pain, reaching bases 4 times against us including a solo HR in the 5th that tied the game 3-3 at the time. We also made 2 more errors, to bring our fielding percentage down to .955.

Bunker Hill 2, Bethalto 0 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

We finally got our first win. SP Jeffrey Garner threw 7 excellent innings and got the win. And this time the bullpen was able to hold it together. Our offense had 9 hits and 4 walks, but they were scattered for the most part. RF Riley Gram put us ahead with a sac fly in the 1st and 3B Ken Jordan gave us an insurance run in the 8th with an RBI double.
