Valmeyer 5, Bunker Hill 1 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Our fourth loss in a row. For Valmeyer, Eric Schmitt pitched a great game (7 IP, 0 ER) and 3B Richard Lewis was their star with the bat (2-for-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI). We had trouble getting much going for most of the game, and left the bases loaded in the 8th and 9th. We're having a terrible July (2-10 record, outscored 36-64).

Valmeyer 4, Bunker Hill 3 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Posted 06-17-2010 at 12:36 AM by hopeful1212

Very tough loss. We had a 3-2 lead into the ninth, but Valmeyer's catcher, Mitchell King tied it up with a solo HR and 2B Carl Reed drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th with a single. Marvin Wright made the start for the Vampires and was effective over 7 innings (2 ER). We're still winless in the 2nd half (0-3).

1884 Season

Posted 06-14-2010 at 03:14 PM by scott1964 (The Northern American BaseBall League)

The 1884 Season started out good for the Cincinnati Red Stockings. A 42-22 record at the All Star break with a seven game lead over the Brookyn Atlantics. Cincinnati went 27-21 after the break while Brooklyn went 33-15. A combination of Steve King going .298 in July and .256 in Aug. Steve had a very good chance of a triple crown, but he went cold when we needed him. Still 11 HR 87 RBI 100 R 30 SB, is a very good achievement at 42. Pitching was not there at our 4 game series with Brooklyn at the...

Grafton 4, Bunker Hill 3 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Posted 06-07-2010 at 01:28 AM by hopeful1212

Another loss against Grafton. That makes us 0-10 against them this year. PH Bob Weeks had the big hit for Grafton: a two-out bases loaded single in the 6th to put Grafton up 4-2. C Brian Holmes also had a good day for the Drifters, picking up 2 hits. At least we'll not have to face Grafton again for a while.

Grafton 9, Bunker Hill 5 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Posted 06-07-2010 at 12:07 AM by hopeful1212

We start the 2nd half with a loss to Grafton. Our problem in this one was clear: we issued 10 walks. 2B Ed Allen had the best day for Grafton, with a HR and 3 RBI. 3B Jacob O'Brien also had a good day. He reached base 5 times (2 hits, 3 walks) and didn't make an out. We hit 3 HR in this one, but didn't get a lot else going.
