1878 Season

Posted 05-10-2010 at 01:31 PM by scott1964 (The Northern American BaseBall League)

Reds were out of the race just after the All Star break. Finished the season 26-34. Couple of bright stops. Jim McCormick, 10-9 2.08 era and struck out 77. Steve King, .313 BA 3 HR 60 RBIs. And Jimmy Wood, .322 BA 42 SB. The Reds drafted Harry Richardson (Old True Blue) in the first round. Hopefully will not get fired next season as this year the owner was very mad and furious. On to 1879.

Bunker Hill 5, Valmeyer 3 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Posted 05-10-2010 at 12:56 AM by hopeful1212

We've won four in a row now, tying our longest winning streak of the season. Cliff Sanders took the hill for us, pitched well (8 IP, 3 ER), and got the win. RF Boyd Adkins and 3B Derek McIntosch gave us the lead in the 8th with back-to-back homeruns. All-in-all a very nice win for us. We'll try for our 5th straight tomorrow.

May 6, 1950 (Saturday) - Philadelphia, PA

W/L record 9-11 (.450), 7th place, 2.5 GB

A breezy day at Shibe park found the Athletics splitting their two game series against the Browns today 7-5 behind the bat of center fielder Sam Chapman. Chapman's three-run homer in the fourth inning off of St. Louis starter Stubby Overmire (L, 0-2) proved to be the decisive offense required for the victory. Chapman also hit a solo shot in the third, and finished with four RBI on...

The St. Louis Browns sealed the first game of a two-game set last night at Shibe Park by a score of 6-3.

Bunker Hill 17, Valmeyer 6 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Posted 05-08-2010 at 08:53 PM by hopeful1212

Now that's what I'm talking about! This game was actually very close for most of it, tied 6-6 after 6 innings. But it got un-close in a hurry. Boyd Adkins, playing RF for us today, untied it with a single in the 7th and had the biggest day for us collecting 4 hits. It's nice to see our offense breaking out like this, if only for a couple games.
