Also, please allow us to "pre-switch" our pitchers (ie, hit a button and it will change pitchers when you're allowed to, ie, after the half inning is over), where the pitcher will stay ready but not overthrow pitches to be tired before they even come into the game. If that's not possible, at least have a "You indicated you wanted pitcher A to replace Pitcher B, do you want to continue with that?"

As the minor league season starts OOTP warns us in a popup that we have ineligible players. It gives us the player name(s) and league(s). It does not give us the reason they are ineligible. It would be nice if in addition to the name it also reported either "age" or "service time" as the reason.

The trouble with this model is it runs the report on the league's opening day. This leaves us scrambling to make moves to correct any roster problems. Either with cuts, promotions, or signings.

What I would like to see added to OOTP is the ability to run this report whenever we want over the off-season, preseason, spring training, etc. My thought is the user selects a league and has a "run eligibility report" option based on your settings for age and pro years. This report would use the league's opening day date to figure who would not be eligible on that date. The same thing it does now. BUT the user could run this before FA filings, Jan 1, or on any day he chooses to do so, allowing one to plan ahead. No more scrambling on each league's opening day to fill holes.

I am really loving OOTP 27, and recent balancing patches are feeling meaningful in a gentle and positive way.

One area I'd love to see future versions of OOTP focus on now is overhauling the interface and how we interact with the enormous amount of information the game now contains.

I previously would’ve said make the 3D game experience more interactive or intuitive, and I still do, however more now in terms of improving in the interface within to enable me to analyse, synthesise and inform decisions during play via easily accessed in screen devices that bring me the data to my eye quickly. in as opposed to any animation/ PbP discrepancy glitches.

The depth of data in OOTP is one of its greatest strengths and appeals. I can’t believe how much I enjoy rifling through different filters and views.
The challenge isn't a lack of information. It's finding, organising and navigating it as a save grows over years or even decades.

For example, views and filters could really benefit from a multi-folder system. Maybe this is partly.. well definitely a "me" problem, but I've accumulated enough custom views and filters over the years that they now resemble a never ending scroll for all my saves. Being able to organise them into folders and subfolders by save, era, purpose or league would make managing long-term universes much easier.

As an aside for baseball newbies like me…provide from all of the baseball brainiacs out there either within a mega list of easily selectable folders or make available to download filters, views or posts with suggested filters to integrate into a save.Differnt filters that help guide someone unfamiliar with what to look for in stats/ratings in diffrent eras

Heavily linked to that is that I'd also love to see more flexibility in report layout and screen organisation. This is a sport centred around data, and so many of spend a lot of time curating reports, resizing columns and trying to squeeze one more useful metric onto our various monitors.

The big opportunity, therefore I reckon might be exploring next OOTP version development cycle(s) making all that data easier to explore, and interact with either transformatively in one big leap. or iteratively across many versions going froward.

In full on dream concept, It’d be amazing to get to a point where you could ask via a text interface questions of your universe in plain language, presets or easily interactable tools. Whether it's "Who are the best catchers in Yankees history by batting average and catcher ERA?" or something far more obscure, the point isn't the specific question. It's having the flexibility to explore and manipulate the data in whatever way feels natural, without needing to fight the interface or work around rigid search and reporting tools.

Not because that information is inherently useful, but because the ability to ask strange questions and follow the answers down rabbit holes is part of what I reckon would makes long-term OOTP saves so much more fun than they already are.

It kinda feels like LLM tool technology is not that far away from being not just accessible to developers like the OOTP team, but desirable as devices to help drive increased innovation and immersion in th game.

I'd love to see OOTP evolve towards a totally more connected baseball encyclopedia experience. Click a player and jump to related records, seasons, awards, games and teammates. Follow links, explore stories and uncover bits of league history you weren't even looking for. The longer a universe exists, the more valuable that history becomes.

So for me, the next big leap for OOTP isn't necessarily more data (but that would be cool too :) ! It's making the incredible amount of data we already have easier to organise, explore and enjoy.

I’m also starting to appreciate the value in well thought out interfaces that reduce unnecessary keystrokes, clicks or scrolls.:D

I was thinking about how Perfect League is really neat that if you come back in a half hour, you'll have a new result to look at, and I compare it to Online Leagues, which run 2 or so weeks at a time, which kinda takes away the fun of every game counting. I would love an option with Perfect League like scheduled sims set up for Multiplayer Leagues. (For example, a day simmed every hour or what have you).

It probably means OOTP would have to host the files, since they would run it on their server, and there'd have to be a slight variance of scheduling ( a season in 2-3 weeks, instead of the weekly churn that perfect league is, building an off season module into the simming schedule, etcetera)

I'd love it if the design and interface for projected league totals could be tuned up for a future version.

There have been a few recent threads on this topic:
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=369808
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=369535

I'm attaching three screenshots that show the guidance the game provides. But even with this guidance, and the info in the threads above, I find all of this extremely confusing and hard to follow. Tucked away in one of the threads also is an ask to target the league leaders rather than the league totals- as you don't really have any control over the distribution of different events across players.

I'd suggest something a little more intuitive. This type of interface would show the projected league totals in a "standard" league, with a default rate for outcomes per plate appearance, and the projected totals in THIS league. You could adjust either the ratio or the target total to get where you want. On the right, you would then get (based on what you've got on the left) to see what the projected league rates are, and the projected leaderboards, after clicking a box to do a quick test sim. (The leaderboards would also be influenced by the league strategy settings for things like saves and complete games.) You could also exert some control over the variance of the league leaders, so you could get individual players that end up with tons of steals or home runs without the league totals needing to go through the roof.

I think something like this would really help to take the guesswork out of starting a new league and figuring out what the results will look like.

-And finally, we should have more awards: Player of the Year (like MVP but less influenced by team record, possibly also incorporating postseason performance), Comeback Player of the Year, Character Award, Baserunner of the Year, Defender of the Year, Postseason MVP award (encompassing all rounds of the playoffs), Historic Achievement award. Having more than one Custom award could help with this as well.

In the same way one can have custom lineups, I'd really like to see something similar introduced for team depth charts.

As someone who uses daily lineups and depth charts extensively, it is a real pain having to first change both depth charts when a player gets injured and has to go onto the IL, then having to change them back again when he returns.

To be able to save these depth charts and re-introduce them seamlessly, with just blanks for any other players that might be missing, would be such a godsend.

Even if it's just the option to set one "MAIN" or "DEFAULT" depth chart for both LHP and RHP would be a huge improvement.

Hope this idea gets some consideration.
My findings, with well over 10 coaches, indicated that each version was the same: the better coaches will not negotiate with my low-fan-interest team.
For version 28, please change this to allow teams rebuilding that really need these higher-end coaches to have an equal or near-equal opportunity to negotiate.
I wanted to see what was up with that team and saw what you might expect -- excellent performance -- but with a twist.

Eight of the nine position players and three members of the rotation had seen time in the major leagues already that season. That was amazing to me. If you're going to demote a player, all the way to B/C ball is excessive. Veteran players might retire in such a situation or request an outright release. I do think this should be looked at in teams that have a computer GM as mine does.

Each catcher could have ratings that dictate how well they call a game, how they call/work with a new pitcher or how fast they integrate. The same could be with pitchers. Some pitchers can pitch the same regardless of the catcher snd vice versa.

Under the player info, you could see list of the catchers/pitchers with the highest affinity/synergy.

This would add a whole new level to realism, roster construction and strategy.

Is this something that can be realistically added?
