My pitching staff has been demolished. The stat that really stands out is the number of homeruns allowed, although the ratings for movement are not that bad. Any suggestions for improving my pitching staff? I'm working on improving the defense and finally sold my Special Edition Troy Tulowinski as he has been killing me with unusually high amount of errors and extremely poor batting. Looking for a better shortstop as well. I also have a new team currently in the Entry Pool that should be available for next week. |

You are seeing firsthand how PT21 can play out. One season, your team owns everyone and the next season, you can't win a game if your life depended on it. One season a star pitcher wins 20 games and the next season, that same pitcher is barely lucky to win 5 games! Some players will play well at one level, and be useless in a different one. Some players who "should" do very well, never do. And every once in a while, a "Joe Unknown" will outplay players on your team who are rated very high, and cost 10-20 times more in the AH. I am not sure how your staff is put together however, if you have a pitcher having a very bad season, bench him and try a different one. 99% of my pitching staff is Diamond and Gold. If I have a Diamond starter who is having a very bad season, I bench them and I'll throw in one of my gold pitchers. Some times this works and sometimes this doesn't. As for shortstop position, I had many seasons where I couldn't find a single player who would preform good, year after year. I had some seasons when it didn't matter who I placed into a position, as every player would "have a curse" and couldn't hit the ball if it was the size of a beach ball. It doesn't make any sense how PT21 plays out however, it will at times drive you nuts! |

It doesn't look like you need to make moves in haste. I see you are only carrying 12 pitchers. You might check on how they're doing as far as fatigue is concerned. I also agree with Chad that PT can be a real crapshoot. The game engine seems very universe oriented, that is, it seems bent on fitting the overall universe into a certain order. Where you end up in that universe seems very "chancey" and there are wild swings, depending on where you end up in line . It also seems that you must contend with an AI that doesn't follow your strategy as closely as you might hope. Try not to stress about it. Build your team with players that you like. For me, that is the biggest factor. I also focus my enjoyment on my teams' OL finish. Success in PT is important to me only in terms of the PP it brings. |

OL G333 is Norwood's Race to Lose

The Diamonders hold a comfortable lead heading into the final sim. Although a couple of the chasers show respectable efforts, only a serious slump by Norwood can prevent their crowning. By the way, I forgot to adjust the loss column formulas for the size of the league, but it's fixed now. Sorry.

Cochise sits atop the standings going into September. Their schedule is complete and the only two teams that are not mathematically eliminated are Jefferson Valley who would need a sweep of their three game series with Blitzkrieg and Sierra Vista who would need a minimum 7-2 record in their 9 games today (5 vs Ft Huachuca and 4 vs Hooterville) to knock off Cochise. If both teams win out it will be a dead heat for the title.
In PT play JV and Norwood are holding down the two WC spots in the AC with the Rebels only 1.5 back in the AC East and Norwood who made up 5 games yesterday (17-7 August record) and are now only 4 back in the AC Central. In the NC Hooterville is 6 back in the WC but it will be a tall order to nab a spot as their are 4 teams above them. |

Coming down the stretch, I169 is tighter than Hopkinsville at rush hour. (You might have to Google that reference.)
With plenty of action on tap today, any one of at least four teams could take the top spot. Cuidad and Vlora have some head-to-head action, and Transylvania's lone series against Otonokizaka takes place at approximately 5:30pm (EDT). And don't count out Daytona Beach, who has a 3-game series with Asheboro remaining. |

should be an interesting final two weeks in Silver..... Terra Incognita hold a slim 2.5 game lead over Ring Road in the AC East.... K-Town and Waffletown sit 2nd/3rd in the AC Central (each holding wild card spots); with K-Town playing 3 games against division leader Tuscon and Waffletown with 6 remaining games against Tuscon (and 4 games against K-Town)...
in a perfect OL scenario, K-Town and Waffletown both leapfrog Tuscon, and Ring Road passes them as well in the wild card standings.... 16 games left to decide it |

Cochise County takes the Bronze title. Norwood is the only OL team heading to the playoffs as the top WC as Jefferson Valley stumbled through a disappointing September.
Norwood will be promoted to Silver while Ft. Huachuca and Sierra Vista will pack their bags for a trip to Iron. I will take care of Bronze next week |

The Transylvania Impalers used a 3-game sweep of Otonokizaka and a limited OL schedule to take the I169 title. Vlora had managed to overtake Cuidad with a late push of their own, but the Impalers gained the upper hand in the all-important percentage race.
Transylvania's late charge was part of an incredible 22-3 September. They will be the lone OL representative in the postseason. Meanwhile, with the sounds of ELO playing in the background, the Dragones and Iron Maiden will be relegated to Stone. |

Only Diamond?
I believe all we are missing are results from diamond. I don't think there was a stone OL race. Unfortunately, my OOTP 21 is again giving me the message that it can't connect to online services, so I can't check on anything.
Also, suggestions on a theme for the wrap up are welcome. Ah well, guess I'll check the bug reports forum and hope. |

huzzah! Went to bed last night with 5 games remaining, so wasn't sure how things were going to shake out (figured my bunch would choke in the last three games against the worst team in the league, but they apparently proved me wrong)... here's hoping the down servers mean the playoffs don't start running before I can log in to set my post season staff.... |
