August 6th, 1989

Joseph Prost went 3 for 5 with a home run, leading the Blue Jays to an 8-6 win over the Yankees. That marks the 5th straight victory for Toronto and they are out of the basement!

David Roberts also homered for the Jays.

Daniel Wood left the game after being hit in the hand while batting. It is expected that he will ride the pine for up to a week.

Mike Marshall has had quite a career resurgence! The Jays claimed him as a Rule Five player from the Angels... and now they have signed him to a three year contract extension for a total of $1.8 million!

Not only did this game get away from the Blue Jays, leading to a 6-0 loss to the Royals, but Greg Green, in his first appearance after returning from the DL, left the game with a strained back.

This bears watching.

Orlando Contreras was amazing today, pitching nine shut out inning! However, the Jays were also unable to score until the 11th when Paul O'Neill's Grand Slam led the Jays to a 6-0 win over the Royals.

Khachatur Abkhazi left the game after a collision at 3rd base. It is unclear how serious it is.
