A few flip-flops this week as the playoff races start to take shape. Also, the Lexington Synths, are the CBO's hottest team, boosting themselves from 6th to 4th.

I thought I must have picked up the wrong ESAU feed! Great weekend for the Boys, just hoping they can maintain the upward trend.

2296 Players of the Week - Week 12
BL - BL Player of the Week Named: So far in his young career, C.T. Woodard has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Brotherhood League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 17-year-old The Slog Ghouls second baseman hit at a torrid .900 clip as he collected 9 hits in 10 at-bats, 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Woodard is hitting .371 this year with 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 53 hits in 143 at-bats, 19 walks and a .452 on-base percentage. Woodard has played in 36 games. IL - Institute League Winner is Nukes: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Amari Nukes, the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 24-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Institute League Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 14 at-bats, compiling a .643 average with no home runs and 3 RBIs. So far this year Nukes has 4 home runs and a .381 batting average. ML - Kimbrough Wins ML Best Player Award: 16-year-old James Kimbrough sent shock waves through Minutemen League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Minutemen League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Kimbrough made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .667 average, 8 hits in 12 at-bats, no home runs and 1 run batted in. Where the Goodneighbor Hancocks third baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Kimbrough certainly made his mark last week. To date Kimbrough has chalked up a .342 average with 4 home runs, driven in 15 runs and scored 42 times. RL - Week's #1 Player: Oberland's Bugs: Jeremy Bugs is respected by most Oberland T-51s fans for his no-frills style of play. The 26-year-old third baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Railroad League Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .615 average (8-for-13) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This season Bugs is batting .421 with 69 hits, 4 home runs, 30 RBIs, 11 walks, .461 OBP and has scored 45 runs. He has played in 36 games. |

**** explored a hideout that appeared to belong to the Mysterious Stranger, at least based on the tell-tale fedora and trench coat hanging on the coat rack and the initials M-S as the username. Obvious. The terminal had lots of entries on it. **** leaked them anonymously to Piper Wright. Nate wanted to know how she got them, where they came from, and if they were even real. The information was recorded onto a holotape, so that is all that Piper knew. Nate did not seem to know what the information meant. I know. And so on.

Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 23 June 2296 - Concord Each Tuesday for the upcoming weeks through the playoffs, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. In our eleventh installment of "Settlement Today," I visited Nate Howard's hometown, Concord. According to the intranet and the Museum of Freedom, Concord has a long history in pre-War Massachusetts: "Concord was a famous historic town, founded in 1635[1], famous along with nearby Lexington as the site of several battles that lead to the American Revolutionary War. The town's centerpiece, the Museum of Freedom, described these events and welcomed tourists, as the rest of the city shows remnants of patriotic bunting, flags, and signs. Sanctuary Hills, a suburb of Concord, was the home of the Sole Survivor before the Great War. "In 2287, the city is a raider stronghold, and upon the Sole Survivor's emergence from nearby Vault 111 it is where Preston Garvey and his group become trapped after the Quincy Massacre." https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592771250 Concord 2288 - After the raiders were permanently evicted but before building repairs took place After Nate Howard cleared out the raiders from Concord, he later had a crew come in and start clearing out downtown Concord. Redeemable buildings were repaired, and the Minutemen made the town its Northwest Commonwealth stronghold. Today, the town is mostly secured by fences and other barriers with Minutemen posts all around it. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592771250 "New" Concord 2296 - See the complete modded build here: https://imgur.com/gallery/UJwWmPu Owner - Sturges Sturges was one of the group of Minutemen Nate Howard saved from the Museum of Freedom. According to the intranet, "An escaped synth, Sturges is a talented repairman, capable of fixing anything that passes through his hands. He also possesses considerable knowledge of the pre-War world, but unfortunately, all that knowledge does not translate into hacking or lock picking talents. He was a long-time handyman in Quincy before the city fell to the Gunners, responsible for restoring power armor frames bought from the Atom Cats garage to full functionality. After the Minutemen's arrival and routing the initial Gunner attackers, he lamented that the one he had on hand couldn't be used to lift lumber to fortify the defenses across the city." https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592771250 Sturges then moved on to Sanctuary Hills where he began repairing and building up the community there. That community eventually expanded out of Sanctuary Hills to the Concord area, a place where the bombs damaged but barely destroyed any buildings. Many more settlers started to arrive from the northwest, with many stopping in Concord instead of continuing to Boston. Cola King https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592771282 Though they did not start the season as the Radstags' sponsor, Nuka-Cola is now their sponsor, which also changed the stadium's name to Nuka Park. According to the intranet, "Nuka-Cola is the flagship product of the Nuka-Cola Corporation and one of the symbols of United States culture. Introduced in 2044, it rapidly dominated the soft drink market, eventually becoming the most popular soda on the market and a staple of American culture. Bottled and distributed nationwide, Nuka-Cola was available in such numbers that even two centuries after the Great War put a stop to all bottling operations, Nuka-Cola bottles can still be found in the wastelands in large quantities. In the aftermath of the Great War, Nuka-Cola bottle caps became the de facto currency in most post-War societies." https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592771282 With the reemergence of John-Caleb Bradberton, Nuka-Cola is sure to be a powerful partner in the Commonwealth baseball scene. There has been rumors of expansions to the extent Nuka-Cola sponsors the league, with an announced revisit by Bradberton at the start of the playoffs in mid-August. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 24 June 2296 – Nakano Path to Jamaica Plain Though I have not been on the same path across the Commonwealth, I was able to catch up with Kasumi Nakano over the ESAU, which has proven to be a useful tool in our daily baseball access, as well as getting news from across most of the civilized areas of the Commonwealth. I will now break down the information that she shared with me through an approximate timeline. I was able to verify some dates, but some others are best guesses. 16 April – John-Caleb Bradberton began his tour of the Commonwealth and the CBO. His first stop was to Fairline Hill Estates where Commissioner Nate Howard joined him. The fanfare of the even caused most of the town to be distracted, which led to . . . 17 April – Fairline Hill Estates’ pitcher Crick Dubya was attacked by the Toddlers gang that originally operated out of Easy City Downs. Because of the attack, Howard, who was on his way to Diamond City with Bradberton, was forced to return and lead the manhunt for Baby Aorta and his gang. 26 April – After arriving in Salem, Nuka-Cola officially partnered with the CBO and made a large caps donation to the league. CBO Artist Erin Reische unveiled three uniform sets—one red Nuka Cherry uniform, one purple Nuka Grape uniform, a home and away for a team called the Breakheart Banks Wasteland Whisperers, and a home and away for a team called the Greentop Nursery Red Rockets. 26 April – Nakano met with Bradberton, Reische, and Bradberton’s wife Sierra Petrovita about the intentions behind those uniforms, with especial interest in the Red Rockets uniforms. Reische informed Nakano about the plans for a minor league system and the two local teams were meant to represent Salem’s team and the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys’ team, which is sponsored by Nakano through the 2296 season. 27 April – Either the next day or two days later, Nakano met with team officials for Nordhagen Beach, including Emogene Cabot before returning to Nordhagen Beach. Nakano wanted to discuss the possibility of changing the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys to the Nordhagen Beach Red Rockets and allowing Greentop Nursery to take the Party Boys name. Cabot declined the offer and reminded Nakano that Cabot was the owner. 29 April – Either the next day or two days later, Nakano did not travel back to Nordhagen Beach with the team. Instead, she met with Salem owner Barney Rook. Rook, who is elderly, said that he was interested in selling the team under the right circumstances, but Salem townspeople and Witch Hats players in attendance also expressed a pride in the Witch Hats name as being the symbol of Salem. Nakano left the meeting understanding that she could purchase the team, rename the stadium, and put her logo on the stadium as much as she wanted, but she would not be allowed to change the team name and that would be a part of the purchase agreement. She did not want that option. 1 May – Nakano arrived in Fairline Hill Estates to meet with Nate Howard. She expressed interest in purchasing that team and let Howard know that she planned to change any team she buys to the Red Rockets because she wanted to use those uniforms. Howard said that he understood and would help her. Nakano mentioned that her first choice would be to sponsor a team that would change its name. Howard said that Yao Guai owner Eleanor Scarface would be interested in selling the team outright but there was already some interest in someone purchasing Fairline Hill Estates. That meant he would let Nakano know if that deal fell through. 2 May – Bradberton arrived in Jamaica Plain with a robot’s body. He left with seemingly little concern about the Treasures baseball team. Jamaica Plain owner Lucas Miller was not present, supposedly on a “business trip.” Apparently the Nuka-Cola empire was not prestigious enough. Miller’s son-in-law, Murray Manhole, attended the game in Miller’s stead. 9 May – Bradberton announced that he would sponsor the Concord Radstags of the Institute League. The sponsorship meant that the stadium immediately changed its name from Nate Howard Honorary Park to Nuka Park and renovations began to “turn the stadium red.” 20 May – The unnamed buyer for Fairline Hill Estates turned out to be my sister, Piper Wright, who I swear never told me about it beforehand. While negotiating the upgrade to BosCom and making a television network, including the ability to televise CBO games, Wright made a deal to sponsor the Yao Guai and take over ownership of the team in either 2297 or 2298. As of now, the team name is not changing, only the ownership. 22 May – Nakano attended a Jamaica Plain game, again without Miller present, but Manhole there to meet with her. Nakano did not comment at the time, but she was in negotiations with Jamaica Plain. 25 May – Nakano and Miller met. Miller agreed to sell the Jamaica Plain Treasures to Nakano with full rights to the stadium and team. 17 June – The CBO announced a minor-league system that will include a single team per franchise, which will replace the current reserve roster rule. Also, the CBO announced its entire pool of sponsors, which will add ArcJet Systems, Curie, Inc., and Slocum’s Joe. Finally, it officially announced that Fairline Hill Estates and Jamaica Plain had been purchased, with the Yao Guai immediately gaining sponsorship from BosCom on May 20 and the Nakano deal beginning that the end of the last day of the season for 2296. 24 June – In conjunction with this story, Nakano has announced that the Jamaica Plain Treasures will be known as the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets for the 2297 season. Also, there will be a minor league with teams in and around Downtown Boston, which will be for Minutemen League teams. The Jamaica Plain minor team will be outside Haymarket Mall and will be known as the Commandos. |
June 2296 - News and Notes - June 25-27

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 25 June Dungan on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Abernathy: The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud tripped up the Abernathy Adamantium 11-10 today. The Silver Shroud were led by Seth Dungan, their 18-year-old shortstop. Dungan made life miserable for Abernathy pitchers all day, tagging them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Seth Dungan doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and doubled in the 7th. This season Dungan is hitting .412 with no home runs. 26 June Bugwing Hits in 20 Straight Games: Chalk up another one for The Slog Ghouls third baseman Stoop Bugwing. He now has hit in 20 straight games. Bugwing went 1-for-5 today's game at Easy Town Field but saw his club defeated 10-7 by the host East Boston Prep Assaultrons. "Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Ghouls manager Mack O'Shea said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one." Stoop Bugwing struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. Bugwing is hitting at a .353 mark this season. His stats show 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has played 38 games for the Ghouls. Nordhagen Beach Befuddled by Cartrette in 7-0 Whitewash: In a splendid 7-0 shutout performance, Mike Cartrette of the Salem Witch Hats subdued the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys on a 6-hitter. "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes, so I kept sending him out there," Salem player-coach Josh Historybuff said in postgame comments. Cartrette registered 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Over the season Cartrette has thrown 41.2 innings and dished out 33 strikeouts with a 2-2 mark and a 5.62 ERA. McBride Belts Bunch of Base Hits: No matter what the Concord Radstags threw him today, Hubris McBride hit it. The 18-year-old Starlight Lady Killers third baseman racked up 5 hits in 5 at-bats today at Valentine Detective Agency Field and led the Lady Killers to a 19-9 victory. Hubris McBride singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Johane Iwanski in the 5th and singled in the 5th. So far this year McBride has 7 home runs and a .356 batting average. Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Seaweed: The hot bat of Treasures right fielder David Seaweed continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 20 games after he went 3-for-5 in today's 11-8 loss to the Gunners at The Treasure Box. "I'm trying not to think about it much," he said later. "I don't want to mess with whatever zone I'm in." David Seaweed grounded out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Rickashaw in the 7th, tripled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th. Thus far this season Seaweed has hit .392 with 12 home runs, 36 RBIs and scored 32 times. 27 June Crook Raps Shaw HS for 5 Hits: Adam Crook was on fire today and sparked his club to a 17-6 victory over the Knuckle Punchers. The Fairline Hill Estates left fielder was a tough out and went 5-for-6 against Shaw HS in a fine hitting display. "I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody and some days they fall in." Adam Crook singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Crook is currently batting .346 with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 162 at-bats. Pettinato Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games: Ben Pettinato extended his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games today in the Quincy 10-6 triumph over the Jamaica Plain Treasures. The 18-year-old Gunners third baseman collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats. "Of course it's going to end," he said. "I'm just enjoying it until then." Ben Pettinato flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Currently Pettinato is batting .389 with 4 home runs and 43 RBIs. Assaultrons Snap Bugwing's Streak at 20: The East Boston Prep Assaultrons did something to Stoop Bugwing no team had done for the last 20 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Ghouls, who came away with the 11-4 victory at Easy Town Field. "Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 30-year-old third baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted." Thus far this year Bugwing is hitting .342 with 3 home runs, 31 RBIs and 28 runs scored. |

Lucky 13 is in the books, and we are down to the final 21 games of the season. In this weekend’s series, we saw the Quincy Gunners come in and defeat the Jamaica Plain Treasures 10-6 here at The Treasure Box. As a result, the Gunners take the series, two games to one. They move to 19-20 on the season, right in the middle of a jumbled pack in the middle of the Minutemen League standings. The Atom Cats are currently in second at 20-19. Third is University Point playing against Warwick as we speak. Quincy and Goodneighbor keep pace with each other at 19-20, each only one game back. For Jamaica Plain, their exciting news this week was that Kasumi Nakano has purchased the team, and that will hopefully give them life in 2297. It seemed to boost them this weekend as they won Game 1, but Games 2 and 3 were all Quincy. The Treasures are now 13-26 and look to be the team everyone else hopes they play. Next week that happens to be the Cats. For outstanding players this weekend, Alan Settler of the Treasures was the top player in Game 1. He was 3 for 4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. John Atomson added a home run, knocked in four, and scored twic in that game as Jamaica Plain won it 13-5. In Game 2, David Driftwood of Quincy was the game MVP and had the best performance of the weekend. In the Gunners’ 11-8 win, Driftwood was 3 for 4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored, four runs driven in, and a walk. Today’s top player was Dan Derp for the Gunners. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. Well, that will do it for this week’s edition of “The Confidence Man Minute” with Travis Miles. Next week’s matchup will be a Brotherhood League showdown between the 21-18 Salem Witch Hats, who have just completed the sweep at the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, against the County Crossing Bloodbugs at 19-19. The Bloodbugs are currently tied 0-0 with Finch Farm in Game Three at Brewtown Brewery Stadium. I suppose next week is a bunch of free Bobrov’s products from my old friends Vadim and Yefim. |

I am your host George Cooper. Joining me today are Anne Hargraves and Rex Goodman. And you are listening to "The IV Bag." We watched in our first morning start of the season as The Slog Ghouls defeated the East Boston Prep Assaultrons 11-4. With the win, the Ghouls avoided being swept and pick up their record to 20-19, just half a game back of second place with the Salem Witch Hats who are trying for the sweep this afternoon at Nordhagen Beach. The Assaultrons drop to 18-21, which will leave them in fifth place in the Brotherhood League, but they are only four-and-a-half games back of first place Finch Farm who are trying to avoid being swept at County Crossing. Anne and Rex, we have an exciting evening planned at Easy City Downs tonight, so let's jump straight to our weekly awards. Take it away, Anne. A: Thank you, George. Yesterday's game was the only one we saw where the first team to score ever trailed, meaning we only had one come-from-behind victory this weekend. These baseball bums were hardly ever on the tail end of defeat; therefore, let's be creative with our Bottoms Up Award. That will go to the go-ahead hit in Game Two when the Assaultrons ended up winning 10-7 after a late Slog push. Trailing 3-2 at the time in the bottom of the fourth, Frank Clawdodger hit an RBI single to tie the game. With two outs and the bases loaded, Joe Ransom hit a two-RBI single off The Slog starter Gary Estate. That hit ended up chasing Estate from the game and putting East Boston Prep on top for good. Therefore, Joe Ransom is this week's Bottoms Up Award winner! R: I rue the moment when baseball will cease to exist for a time in the tides of August. Yes, yes, playoff baseball will discover its feverish pace, but there are only two from each division moving on. Therefore, we lose two-thirds of the hearts and souls of teams fighting for another day. The Slog may be one of those teams that are close but minus their San Francisco Sunlights. Therefore, this week I nominate and reward The Slog's left fielder, Po Greenzone, for the Sportiest Sport award. He took the bat on his shoulders and swung the Ghouls to victory today with three hits and three runs batted in. G: Thank you both. Let me now tell this week’s show with the Outstanding Player of the Series. That player is Jarrett Metalboz of East Boston Prep. For the weekend, he had six hits in 13 at bats. Two of those hits were doubles and another was a home run. He scored six times and knocked in five, as well as walking once. This week's show was brought to you by Easy City Downs. "When you're in town, settle down with Easy City Downs." I've got my money on The Boston Blaster tonight. What about you Anne and Rex? A: Let me see the card. Based on the names, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll root for Lady Lovelace. R: I shall place my money on the one that speaks of the arts and passion. Since the references of all these racing robots are beyond my base of knowledge, my random finger point tells me it will be Iron Maiden. Excellent. G: This will do it for "The IV Bag" with the Charles River Trio. Our destination next week is University Point when the Deathclaws take on the Quincy Gunners, who I believe are being featured on Diamond City Radio this week. Our game is the first complete today, so we know going into today that Quincy is 18-20 and the Deathclaws are 19-19. It looks like that will be a matchup for trying to work their way up into second place since the Warwick Mirelurks are currently 26-12. Before we head to the tracks, let’s close out this week’s show with Billie Holliday and "Crazy He Calls Me": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mitLcbHHz8 |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 29 June 2296 - Dwellers Player Loses Game of Chicken, Lives Vault 81 Dwellers left fielder Chris Van Benschoten is lucky to be alive this afternoon after he decided waiting five minutes for the Vault 81 door to reopen was too long. While Calvin Whitaker and Bobby De Luca were running some routine checks on the vault's mechanisms, they had to closer the Vault 81 door. Van Benschoten saw that the door was closing when he was still inside the vault. Instead of waiting for the mechanisms to run through their checks, Van Benschoten decided to try to squeeze through the door before it closed. That decision nearly cost him his life, with Whitaker and De Luca thinking it had. Instead, Van Benschoten made it through but not before one of the large metal gear cog's teeth bashed him in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him unconscious. When Whitaker and De Luca reopened the vault door, they discovered a blood covered but alive Van Benschoten rather than the bloody pancake they expected to find. Van Benschoten was raced to the Vault 81 clinic where Dwellers owner Dr. Jacob Forsythe was on hand to treat him. "He'll be hurting for a while, and it will take at least a week for the swelling to go down in his face, so he is definitely out next week," Forsythe said. "He's lucky to be alive right now, so I am sure he'll need more time to reexamine his life, too." Van Benschoten, who was selected in the 14th round by the Dwellers, has been a steady member of the team from the 8th spot in the lineup. On the season, he is 29 of 101 (.287) with four doubles and eight home runs, which is tied for second on the team behind Erns Gold. He has scored and driven in 19 runs apiece. "I consider Chris to be one of the smarter players on the team," Forsythe added. "Maybe I need to reconsider that. He certainly was lucky with the dice roll today. That could have been much worse." Van Benschoten is not expected to play next week, but he should be available to play in Week 15 when the Dwellers host Diamond City. |

2296 Players of the Week - Week 13
BL - Star of the Week Awarded in BL: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Brotherhood League, but last week Sean Koester of the Salem Witch Hats reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Koester rocked opposing pitching for a .667 average (10-for-15), 1 home run and 3 RBIs to come away with the award.
In his stats this season, Koester has posted a batting average of .398 with 72 hits in 181 at-bats, 4 home runs and 19 RBIs. He has also scored 35 runs, walked 12 times and compiled a .439 OBP. IL - Star of the Week Picked in IL: Skinny Danner burst onto the Institute League stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie right fielder for Starlight garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy. The 27-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .615 (8-for-13) with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs last week. This season Danner has hit at a .338 clip with 37 RBIs, 5 home runs and 38 runs scored. ML - Star of the Week Honored in ML: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Jeremy Nicholson, the University Point Deathclaws 17-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Minutemen League Player of the Week honors. He ripped 6 hits in 12 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs. Currently Nicholson has 5 home runs and a .327 batting average. RL - Juras Picked Best Player: His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Jason Juras was rewarded with the Railroad League Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Egret Scrappers third baseman hit .500 while collecting 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs. So far this year Juras has 8 home runs and a .204 batting average. |

Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 30 June 2296 - Fairline Hill Estates Each Tuesday for the upcoming weeks through the playoffs, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. In our twelfth installment of "Settlement Today," I visited the luxurious settlement, Fairline Hill Estates. Before the purge of the wasted Commonwealth, Fairline Hill Estates was a place where settlers always tried to make a community but experienced several problems. According to the intranet, "Since the Great War, the remains of this gated community have been used by several scavenger and raider gangs. It was recently occupied by a small settlement, though now it is home to yao guai and feral ghouls. The previous [sic] residents left behind a small amount of evidence of their existence, including some of their belongings. Several rotting brahmin corpses lie in the playground being eaten by yao guai, and workstations remain inside the houses undisturbed. In the interim, one home was fortified (and filled with ghouls), its well armed occupant killed, and the place was ultimately abandoned. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592951406 Fairline Hill Estates 2288 - The beautiful homes had fallen into disrepair Nate Howard made Fairline Hill Estates a "second Sanctuary." With the nearby potential with Milton General Hospital and Fallon's Department Store, Howard could see the potential for a powerful settlement outside the Commonwealth. It is not yet where Howard imagined it to be since there is still some time needed before the sheer numbers reach the place where it needs to be. However, with the sponsorship by BosCom, with the probable location of the BosCom main TV studio occupying the old Gunner's Plaza south of Fairline Hill Estates, that vision could become a reality. Today, settlers have rebuilt the mansion estates of the area, making the homes there into multi-family homes. The Yao Guai Circle, named that because Howard found yao guai occupying the area when he first arrived, has added more attractiveness to the area, and the residents there hope that it can continue to grow and more people will attend games there in time. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592951406 Fairline Hill Estates 2296 - The mansions of the Estates. Tour this custom settlement at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCEahOIkSis Owner - Eleanor Scarface It might have been better to have written this earlier or wait for Piper Wright to take over, but right now Eleanor is still the owner. She will not talk about herself much, but she has been successful in establishing trade in the area. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592951406 All we know about her past was a note found. To sum it up, "She apparently has some history with the raider Bosco [deceased] and his gang from D.B. Technical High School, and this resulted in the large scar down the left side of her face." It is believed Bosco gave her the scar since he wore a yao guai head mask and used a deathclaw gauntlet on his enemies--perhaps sometimes his friends. TV is coming back https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592951470 According to the intranet, "BosCom was a telecommunications company that was focused on serving the Boston area. Various advertisements boast phone and television services." Piper Wright has now tagged that technology and can get closed-circuit television programs to play. Now her conglomerate BosCom, which is the owner of Publick Occurrences, is working to expand that technology into each settlement, starting with its first targets of Fairline Hill Estates and Diamond City. In conjunction with Kent Connolly of Hubris Comics and in cooperation with Nate Howard and Isabel Cruz, with help from scriptwriters like Rex Goodman of WRVR, BosCom plans to run a five-episode TV series of The Unstoppables. That series is planned to run later this year. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1592951470 |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 1 July 2296 - Batters of the Month BL - BL Batter of the Month Honors to Treestump: For being a 5th-round pick, Chris Treestump certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the BL Batter of the Month award for June. The 18-year-old right fielder for the Salem Witch Hats hit .440 with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored. So far this season Treestump has hit .345 with 9 home runs, 43 RBIs and scored 32 times. IL - Qesadena Wins Best Bat Trophy in June: At only 16 years of age, Willie Qesadena could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career. On the month he hit .420 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored. So far this year Qesadena is batting .350 with 9 home runs, 44 RBIs and 36 runs scored. This year Malone has compiled a 7-2 mark with a 4.89 ERA. RL - Bush Gets RL #1 Pitcher Trophy: Over the past month Papa Bush has turned quite a few heads. The 9th-round pick for the Oberland T-51s posted 4-0 mark and a 4.22 ERA. In 4 starts he tossed 32 innings, permitted 40 hits and fanned 25 batters. Pitones was originally signed by the Ghouls as an undrafted free agent, but Abernathy seems to believe he may have more long-term potential than both DiGrande and Behr. |
July 2296 - News and Notes - July 2-4

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 2 July 2296 - Red, White, and Blue Weekend for the CBO Despite the Commonwealth being a shell of the former United States of America, this weekend has been a celebration for what Commissioner Nate Howard has called his own "nostalgia." Howard, as we all know, was alive before the Great War that turned our land into the Wastes we have grown to love and hate. He was also a decorated soldier who served in Operation Anchorage, a war-time occupation by the country China in the United States. This weekend, as a celebration of the USA's founding 520 years ago on July 4, 1776. This land that we call the Commonwealth was actually one of 13 Commonwealths across the United States. The Boston area was actually part of the New England Commonwealth. And in our own celebration, we are not official, but we have been operating under our own United Commonwealth ever since Howard defrosted from Vault 111. This weekend, Howard has proposed that ballparks serve the usual refreshments, but he wanted to add a recipe of his own to each of the 12 hosting ballparks' menus. He calls that item a "hot dog." It includes ground brahmin or dog meat set in brahmin intestinal casings and it is put on top of wet-mashed and baked razorgrain made into what he calls "bread." On top of the "dog" he places a softened paste mixture of mashed tarberries, mutfruits, and tatos that he calls "condiments." Howard said his version of the hot dog is not the same as it was in 2077, but it should be a new, tasty treat he hopes will become popular at the ball parks. Happy Red, White, and Blue Weekend, CBO! 3 July 2296 - Greenzone Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games The hitting streak for The Slog left fielder Po Greenzone now stands at 20 games, but the Ghouls dropped today's contest 11-7 to the Finch Farm Four Leafs. Greenzone went 1-for-4 in the game. "Things went well for me personally today," he said later. "I got 1 hit and the streak keeps going. But we didn't win the game." Po Greenzone hit a sac fly in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. So far this season Greenzone has put up a .331 batting average with 46 hits, 14 home runs and 40 RBIs. 3 July 2296 - Tarberry Goes 5-for-6 After a 5-hit effort to lead Atom's 12-9 victory over the Jamaica Plain Treasures, center fielder Ed Tarberry told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Minutemen League-level is really something special." The 22-year-old player earned his accolades today at The Treasure Box with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Treasures. Tarberry singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. In 41 games this year Tarberry has posted a .362 average and put up these numbers: 4 home runs, 35 RBIs and 39 runs scored. 3 July 2296 - Mustang Whitewashes Knuckle Punchers In an outstanding mound performance, Vault 81 Dwellers starter Josh Mustang fired a complete-game shutout against the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers at McNamara Park today. Mustang was the key to the Dwellers's 7-0 win. The 31-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 6 hits and 1 walk he allowed. "6 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." In 14 starts this season Mustang has notched a 5-4 record and a 5.60 ERA. 3 July 2296 - 5 Hits for Dwellers' Islander Bubb Islander did a number on the Knuckle Punchers in the Vault 81 7-0 victory today, and the number was 5. The Dwellers second baseman banged out 5 hits in 5 at-bats at McNamara Park to lead his club past the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers. "I felt good in the batter's box today," he said later. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done." Bubb Islander singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This season Islander is batting .392 with no home runs. His totals include 16 RBIs and 29 runs scored. 4 July 2296 - Perez Belts 5 Hits It was a big day for B.J. Perez and he brought the Oberland T-51s along for the ride. Perez led his club to a 14-8 victory over the Diamond City Swatters today at The Great Green Jewel, smoking Diamond City pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. The 19-year-old center fielder later called the victory "sweet." B.J. Perez walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and singled in the 9th. Perez is hitting .454 in 2296 with 39 RBIs and 4 home runs. 4 July 2296 - Levy Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Mushy Levy continued his streak at Beantown Brewery Stadium today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The County Crossing right fielder was 2-for-5 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Bloodbugs were not as fortunate, losing 8-6 to the Salem Witch Hats. "Levy was hitting everything we threw at him," said Salem player-coach Josh Historybuff. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win." Levy grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. Looking at his season stats, Levy has compiled a .318 batting average and a .370 on-base percentage, while hitting 11 home runs and driving in 43 runs. 4 July 2296 - Rogers Goes on Rampage Against Ghouls All game long, Finch Farm's Ginger Rogers was rattling the walls at Tarberry Field Forever and banging out base hits against the The Slog Ghouls. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Four Leafs had a 13-5 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 24-year-old center fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Ginger Rogers singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. Rogers currently has a .279 batting average with 50 hits, 9 homers, 33 RBIs, 32 runs scored and a .379 OBP. 4 July 2296 - Nordhagen Beach-Abernathy Trade Rude for Haircutter: Trade winds have been blowing through Nordhagen Beach. This time, a deal has materialized between the Party Boys and Adamantium. According to sources inside the organization, Nordhagen Beach will ship 30-year-old RHP Melvin Rude to Abernathy for 23-year-old 2B Danny Haircutter. On his stats sheet this season Rude shows a 1-9 record, 13 starts, 86.1 innings, 62 strikeouts and a 4.07 ERA. Haircutter, the Adamantium's 26th pick, has yet to appear in a game this season. He is considered to be a good team player and highly intelligent. 4 July 2296 - Vault 81 Dwellers Ship Patterson to Finch Farm The Vault 81 Dwellers have made a deal sending 32-year-old LHP Zippy Patterson and 16-year-old C Mike Elanora to the Finch Farm Four Leafs for 17-year-old 2B Phil Harmon. Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out. On the year Patterson has no saves in 7 relief appearances with a 1-0 record and 6.75 ERA. --------- Nordhagen Beach Update: There was a lot of partying in the Red, White, and Blue Weekend at Nordhagen Beach's Red Rocket Stadium but not a whole lot of celebrating. The Party Boys dropped all three games at home against the East Boston Prep Assaultrons: 7-5, 9-5, and 12-11. That makes six straight lost for the Party Boys, dropping them to 16-26 on the season with just 18 games to go. Game 2 was the biggest heartbreaker of the weekend. The Boys were up 5-0 entering the 7th inning and 5-1 entering the 8th. However, the Assaultrons put up eight runs in the 8th to take the 9-5 win. |
Ouch! My recent rash of optimism has responded to the ointment provided by the Party Boys, and has now completely cleared up.

Good afternoon from a beautiful afternoon in County Crossing's Beantown Brewery Stadium where we saw the visiting Salem Witch Hats defeat the home Bloodbugs for an 8-6 victory. With the win, the Witch Hats take two of three this weekend and improve to 23-19, while the Bloodbugs fall to 20-22 on the season. I am Travis Miles, and you are listening to "The Confidence Man Minute" right here on Diamond City Radio, your leader in news, sports, and jams in the Commonwealth. Looking at our top players each game, Thursday night's game MVP was Mushy Levy of the Bloodbugs in their 13-5 win. He was 3 for 5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three runs batted in. Little Jemmy Madison was the winner after relieving Front Porch Potter. June pitcher of the month Terrence Artman was the loser. Game 2 was a mid-afternoon matchup where the Witch Hats prevailed, 9-4. The top player in that one was determined to be Salem leadoff hitter Sean Koester. He was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two walks. Mike Cartrette got his third win of the season. Bad Company Grognak dropped to 3-7 with the loss. Today's game MVP was Salem center fielder Mike Castillo. He was 3 for 5 today with a double and three RBI. Pistol Schmidt and Mike Laughingman each went deep for the Witch Hats. Tom Mastodon was 2 for 5 for County Crossing with a triple, a run scored, and three RBI. Relay Meacham got the win today in relief of Roy Syme. Tom Rose lost the game. We have made a change in our lineup for next week to get a bit of a better and more important matchup. Instead of going to the Jamaica Plain-Goodneighbor series as we originally planned, we are instead going to head to the Institute League for the first time since Week 9 where we will watch the Starlight Lady Killers, who have a chance today to tie Abernathy for first place if they beat the Adamantium. The Killers will visit Sunshine Tidings who moved to 23-19 and third place with their 9-6 win at Fort Hagen this afternoon. |

Today we saw the Quincy Gunners win the game and the series, 7-1, over the University Point Gunners. Both teams are now 21-21 on the season, which puts them in a third-place tie in the Minutemen League heading into next week. Rex and George, who were your standout players for the weekend? R: Droves upon droves, Anne. And of course, I love to name my Sportiest Sport. Typically, I select the player who showed grit and determination in a losing effort. To me, that player was the one who boosted his team, University Point, to a blowout victory in Game 2. Pitcher William Radwater not only pitched his team to victory but he also hit them there. He pitched a complete-game victory with four runs allowed, three of which were earned. He also had two hits, including a double, scored three times, and contributed two runs batted in. He was not the Game MVP, but he is my Sportiest Sport. G: My top pitcher this week is an easy one. In today’s 7-1 win, Quincy pitcher Manny McDuff only allowed one run on five hits in eight innings. He improved his record to 5-5 on the season, and he by far had the most dominant pitching performance. A: Thank you both, gentlemen. I will now name the Outstanding Player of the Week. This wonderful guy is the left fielder for the Gunners, Andrew Nuka. In the three games combined, he was 6 for 11 with two home runs, four runs scored, and three runs batted in. He also walked three times for a .643 on-base percentage for the weekend. That will finish up "The Oven Mitt." Next week we will travel to the Railroad League where we will watch Egret travel to Shaw High School. Going into today’s matchup, the Scrappers are 24-17 and in second place. The Knuckle Punchers are not as good, standing in sixth place by a lot and with the worst record in the CBO at 10-31. They will try to gain a game on Vault 81 tonight. We all know Nuka is a wonderful guy, so let’s finish this show by playing Claire Chatwin singing “A Wonderful Guy.” Take us away, Claire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDT8...&start_radio=1 |
