Got it. No problem.

F_C, not sure if you're taking requests right now, but the Sydney Cricket Ground would be a fun park to tackle next since it held official MLB games in 2014.

Hey Suigi, nice to hear from ya. I'm just taking a short break and playing my historical save. Pretty much having a lot of fun in general. I absolutely plan to build more stadiums in the new year. Sydney Cricket Ground has been added to my to-do list.

Happy holidays everyone!

Just saw this on Abroad in Japan on Youtube and thought that you might enjoy making this.

That indeed looks very interesting. This small domed stadium could be a good addition to a minor league or independent league team in Japan. I'll keep this one in mind :)

Labatt Memorial Park

I started this stadium last year and finally got around to finishing it. Located in London, Ontario, Canada, Labatt Memorial Park proudly claims the title of the "oldest continually operating baseball grounds in the world", with a history dating back to 1877.

Obviously this means Labatt Park is still in use today. It is the current home of the London Majors of the semi-professional Intercounty Baseball League.
The park is relatively simple, but I paid attention to smaller details and tried to make it as authentic as possible.

Beautifully done, F_C. Next time Laptop and I run a Canada Day Classic on-stream, we're including this for sure.

That's cool :) If it happens, please let me know the link!

I have more Canadian stadiums in the pipeline (for example, I'm looking into Shaw Park in Winnipeg), and obviously the Sydney Cricket Ground is in the works as well. That one is quite interesting. Seems to be comprised of different sections built at different times. No section is completely the same.

Isedelyod 01-30-2024 11:20 AM

Shaw park for sure!

How do you get these stadiums to show in game to use? Do you put them into your ballpark directory and then import them in? Never done this before!

Does anyone plan on making a 3d model of the largest dome stadium in the world? I think it is either located in Japan or Korea and can't think of the name of it. Would be nice to have to play in since it's multi-purpose use!

Flying_Canuck 02-04-2024 08:24 AM

The largest dome stadiums for baseball are probably all in Japan. Since pretty much all of them are currently in use and thus subject to license, the mod community can't touch them. (This was an issue from last year, and you might have missed it if you joined the community recently)

Meanwhile, a quick update on Sydney Cricket Ground. I'm still building the main structures. The more complex and most interesting parts are going to be done soon - bottom area of the screen shot here:

Can you share your plans for creating more stadiums, particularly in the Netherlands and Italy/San Marino, and if you have specific stadiums in mind for future projects?

Well, I plan to complete these 4 stadiums first and then decide where to go next:
  • Sydney Cricket Ground - in progress
  • Shaw Park in Winnipeg - in progress
  • Estadi Olimpic de Viladecans (Spain) - early stage
  • Chengcing Lake Stadium in Kaohsiung, Taiwan - CPBL 6th team starts their first season in 2024, so I will do a quick upgrade to an old model that I made

At the same time I'm thinking about Mexico and other Caribbean countries that seem under-represented. So currently there is no specific plans to make another ballpark from Italy or Netherlands. But if there's anything in particular that you'd like to see, let me know so I can look into it.

Might I suggest the following Canadian fields at some point along the way?

Wilson's Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park (Victoria, BC)
Ironmen Field (Chatham, NB)
Kinsmen Stadium (Oshawa, Ont)
Legends Field (Summerside, PE)
Seaman Stadium (Okotoks, AB)
Norbrock Stadium (Kamloops, BC)

I realize the time it takes to make these from scratch, so no worries if they don't make your list. I loved making them when I had the time available to do so, but three young kids put the end to my stadium modding.

Hey, Isedelyod! Hopefully one day we can see your creations again. I also have kids but they are going to college soon so they don't bother me as much, LOL. That time will come for you, too :)

Anyways, I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind in the future. By the way, the first one has been done already. Here it is:

I don't know how I missed it (I imagine I have it downloaded). I do hope to get back into it, as I really enjoyed making stadiums. Love to get the majority of the quaint Canadian fields made. Thanks again.

BC Place

This should be considered a pseudo fictional stadium? I am putting a baseball diamond into BC Place in Vancouver. The huge revitalization project in 2011 was really well done and transformed the whole stadium into a beautiful gem. But, they put heavy focus into football/soccer so I think the seats/walls are no longer configurable. Realistically, it will be very hard to play baseball in BC Place without further substantial investment. That may never happen.

Well, that doesn't matter to me since we can do whatever we want in OOTP, right? So for Vancouver to have a chance to lure an MLB team in the near future (at least in my own game, LOL), BC Place is now a baseball only facility!

The exterior is a 3D warehouse conversion with some modification and new textures
https://i.ibb.co/M7x1LpF/BC-Place-Exterior.jpg

Had to tear down some parts and reconstruct the interior to fit MLB sized field (400 feet in center field and 320 feet in left/right)

One interesting feature of BC Place is the application of translucent polymer in the upper facade area. During the day, it lets in natural light from outside. At night, the whole thing can light up in different colors through various LED fixtures. I tried to show this in the model. (in-game screenshots below)

Shaw Park

Starting this year, the park is now renamed to Blue Cross Park, but I still prefer to call it Shaw Park. This is the home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes (in the independent league - American Association). It is easy to see the team and community really poured their heart and soul, and much resource, into making this stadium one of the best in minor or independent league levels.

I've included most of things that are visible from inside the stadium, featuring the huge Canadian Museum for Human Rights towards the right field, the Craft Beer Corner at left field side, CN Rail in the background, "High Five" art exhibit along the road beyond left OF wall, downtown skyline outside of the stadium (home plate side)...... etc.

I did not put any more assets such as chairs or tables in those decks, for the sake of file size. But there should already be enough things in the model to make a good presentation of the stadium. :)
