4th Place (tie): Turon Typhoons (77-77) (19 GB)
Last Pennant: 2061
Pro Cups: 4 (2003, 2006, 2009, 2018)

If you went by won-lost percentage, the Turon Typhoons are the best team in IPA history with a .551 percentage... they also have gone to the playoffs 21 times and have captured 4 Pro Cups... in recent times Turon won 6 pennants in 10 years from '52 to '61... however, all of the Pro Cup titles came in the early years of the franchise... the Typhoons have gone into a mild decline since the last Tycobbian South title year... 3rd in '63 (14 GB), 5th in '64 (10 GB) and 4th place this season (19 GB)... offense is the crux of the problem... Turon can't put runs on the scoreboard, but they have fairly good pitching (3.66 ERA)... only 567 runs scored and 73 balls hit out of the park... but the defense is good with a .980 FA... the Typhoons began April like a ball of fire with a 17-8 mark and were on top of the TU South standings... but they quickly came down to earth and slowly drifted downward the rest of the season... the bats have to improve for Turon to get back with the elite teams in the Tycobbian South Division.

Last Pennant: 2064
Pro Cups: 1 (2032)

Lately the Monties have been up and down... 2nd place in '62 (12 GB), dipped to fifth in '63 (19 GB), rebounded and won the TU South flag in '64, then tumbled down to 6th this season (23 GB)... the offense is adequate with a solid .271 BA, 647 runs and 145 homers... pitching is also just average with a 3.78 ERA... ditto defense with a .978 FA... it was a disappointing year... the preseason pundits picked the Montaneros to win the TU South again, but they never were a presence in the race... San Alejo ran near the bottom of the division most of the season... they are just a pitcher and a hitter away from being a serious contender again... the bullpen could use some help... historically the Monties have made the playoffs only on 9 occasions and have just one Pro Cup trophy... they have chalked up a .498 won-lost percentage...

7th Place: Arroyo Grande Suns (69-85) (27 GB)
Last Pennant: 2024
Pro Cups: None

The Suns are just about the worst franchise in IPA history... they possess the worst won-lost percentage (.469)... only four postseason appearances with no Pro Cups... never came close to winning the Pro Cup trophy... no pennants for 44 seasons... the last one was in '24... recently nothing but bottom-rung finishes... 8th in '62 (39 GB), 7th in '63 (31 GB), 7th in '64 (12 GB) and 7th again this year (27 GB)... Arroyo Grande is pathetic with bats, hitting a very poor .220 for average... but they can score with 617 runs because they hit lots of homers (203)... pitching is mediocre (3.93 ERA)... however, the guys plays some fine defense, the best in the IPA with a .983 FA... improved contact hitting is a must for the Suns to turn it around... otherwise the outlook is quite bleak for home fans.

Last Pennant: 2036

The Elites are another bad franchise... no Pro Cups... never come close to one... won-lost percentage is only .484... just four playoff appearances in its history... the last one three decades ago... no winning seasons for the last 12 years... finished dead last in the Tycobbian South the last three years... Colchester features poor hitting (.248 BA), little scoring (577 runs), very poor pitching (4.68 ERA), but very good defense (.981 FA) and good firepower with 144 roundtrippers... yes, as they might say in jolly old southern England, the Colchester Elites are sho 'nuff bad.

1st Place: Tuckanarra Tiger Cats (94-60)
Last Pennant: 2064
Pro Cups: 3 (2023, 2024, 2035)

The Tuckanarra Tiger Cats (nee Blue Jays) are one of the most successful franchises in IPA history... second-best won-lost percentage (.546)... 3 Pro Cups... and 20 playoffs appearances... winning record the last decade... 3rd place in '62 (5 GB)... 5th place in '63 (9 GB)... and 1st place in '64 and '65... the Tiger Cats had a spectacular season this year... the Tycobbian East was a dogfight until midseason with 4-5 teams in the mix... then the Tucks took off like a rocket in July and won going away by 10 games over the preseason pick, the South Fork Stallions... the Tiger Cats were rated the number-two team in the poll... third place Red Bluff (13 GB), fourth place Midway (14 GB) and fifth place High Mesa (15 GB) were in the running, but fell to the wayside in the second half of the season... Tuckanarra went 50-25 in the last three months of the year and soared way ahead of everybody.

The Tiger Cats are an offensive juggernaut with a .261 BA, 740 runs and 201 homers... the lineup is chocked full of good, solid hitters... no slouch on the hill, either, with a 3.61 team ERA... but they were lackluster defenders with a .976 FA... the Tucks will again face powerhouse Rolling Hills in the first round of the Pro Cup playoffs... they gave the Racers fits last year before succumbing in a tense six-game set... the Tiger Cats are better this year, so it should be quite a series again... the survivor of that series will be a prime contender for the much-coveted IPA Pro Cup.

Last Pennant: 2063
Pro Cups: 2 (2025, 2042)

South Fork has only made 8 appearances in the postseason playoffs, but they have snared 2 Pro Cups... the Stallions have had good success recently with two pennants in '60 and '63 in the highly-competitive Tycobbian East... South Fork lost a thriller 7-game series in the TU title series to the eventual Pro Cup champion Hartsdale in '63... they came in third in '61 (7 GB)... 2nd place in '62 (3 GB)... and fifth in '64 (11 GB)... South Fork was outgunned this year by the Tuckanarra high-powered arsenal... the Stallions just didn't have the offense to deal with them, but they certainly had the pitching... South Fork batted .253, scored 621 runs, hit 131 out of the park... had superb pitching with a 3.18 ERA... and average defense (.978 FA)... the Stallions need a 2-3 more solid bats to make some noise in the TU East race.

Last Pennant: 2057
Pro Cups: 2 (2004, 2057)

Overall the Red Sox are usually a winning ballclub... IPA won-lost record (.513)... but they have made only 9 playoff appearances... Red Bluff has won the Pro Cup trophies on two occasions... the Red Sox used to depend on home-run power, but nowadays, its strength is in its mound corps... they were just as good as South Fork this season with a 3.20 ERA and they backed that up with a very good defense (.980 FA)... Red Bluff's problem was its poor and feeble offense... they only batted .242 with just 575 runs and 129 roundtrippers... no way could they compete with TU East champ Tuckanarra... to contend next year the Red Sox have to improve its offense.

The Middies have only been to the postseason on 9 occasions, but most of that was since 2053... the Wolves have captured 6 Tycobbian East titles in the past 13 seasons and they also captured back-to-back Pro Cup trophies in '53 and '54... overall Midway has one of the better winning percentage in IPA history (.519)... like South Fork and Red Bluff, they had fine pitching with a 3.31 ERA this year, but they didn't hit much for average (.243 BA)... however, they did score pretty well with 659 runs, mainly because they packed a wallop in their lineup with 171 homers... excellent pitching and longballs, coupled with a strong defense (.980) made the Wolves a solid ballclub in 2065... the future looks good in Midway... after flopping in '60 below the .500 mark, the Middies won the TU East in '61... were fourth in '62 (10 GB) and '63 (8 GB)... and they jumped to second place in '64 (6 GB)... after the retirement of their two superstars Norishige Ito and Daryl Vale at the end of the '64 season, many pundits expected the worst this year and forecast several bleak years of rebuilding, but it didn't happen... Midway continued its winning ways.

High Mesa has not won many awards, but overall they have a winning record in the IPA (.504)... won their only Pro Cup over six decades ago in 2002... lately the Mustangs won the pennant in '59 and '62... came in 6th in '63 (9 GB), but they had a winning mark... rallied a little bit in '64, winding up in 3rd place (7 GB)... and finished 5th this year (15 GB)... they took the top spot at the end of the first month of play, but fell out of grace soon... High Mesa remained in the hunt until midseason, then dropped out of contention in the second half of the year... home runs were the name of the game this season for the Mustangs... 240 homers and 711 runs kept them in the running... six players in the lineup had 20 or more roundtrippers... but they didn't hit for much average (.240 BA)... mediocre pitching kept them out of contention (4.18 ERA)... the Mustangs have quality starters, but are weak in the bullpen... in addition to a healthy attack, High Mesa could field very well (.980 FA)... a couple of contact hitters and a couple of good relievers would do wonders in High Mesa.

Oh, it hurts to research the 64 seasons of Hillsboro baseball history.
WARNING: the following could be disturbing to read:
Just one solitary pennant... back in '51... that's all y'all... one single... solitary... Tycobbian East pennant... Hillsboro has a bad history... and it continues into the present day... no winning season since '58... no finish higher than 6th in the standings... this year the Blazers came in 6th, 18 GB... they were near the bottom the entire year... but they were improved this year... Hillsboro was horrible in '62 (32 GB) in 7th place... made some good progress in '63 (13 GB), but still ended up 7th... regressed in '64, still 7th place (22 GB)... in the current year the Blazers almost played .500 ball... they featured longballs, solid pitching and real good defense, the shortcomings were a pathetic .235 team batting average and a subpar closer... Hillsboro had some good stats: 615 runs, 204 homers, 3.78 ERA and a very good defense (.980 FA)... like High Mesa, Hillsboro could use a few good hitters and a good closer... if that came to be, the Blazers might possibly move up in the Tycobbian East standings.

Last Pennant: 2064
Pro Cups: 5 (2029, 2031, 2048, 2060, 2062)

Rolling Hills is one of the premier franchises in the Islandian Pro Alliance... the Racers (aka Reds) have won 5 Pro Cup trophies, more than any other team... 17 playoff appearances... and they rank 4th in overall IPA won-lost percentage (.535), topped only by Turon (.551), Tuckanarra (.546) and Sugar Valley (.536)... Rolling Hills is really on a remarkable roll with 6 straight Tycobbian West pennants... 3 times in the last 4 years they have won 100 or more games... each year the Racers handily won the league title, challenged just one time in 2064, when they outlasted La Claire by 4 games... they won by 9 games this season, 25 games in '63, 9 games in '62, 10 games in '61 and 8 games in '60... this season Rolling Hills was slow out of the starting gate... they were only 28-24 the first two months of the race... Bay St. Clair, Denton City, La Claire and Kenwood were all in front of the Racers in April and May, but lo and behold, Rolling Hills went on a terrific tirade and piled up a splendid 41-11 mark in June and July... 'nuff said, case closed, the Racers made a robust statement that they were ready, willing and able to add another Pro Cup to their vast collection... Kenwood finished second and trailed by 9 games at season's end... Denton City came in third and 14 games behind... the fourth spot went to Bay St. Clair, 25 games back in the race... and La Claire wound up in fifth place, 28 games off the pace.

Rolling Hills led the IPA in wins (101), batting average (.304) and runs (887)... the Racers can go deep, too (164 HR)... they have a good ERA (3.67)... but they struggle dearly on defense with a .972 FA... it is hard to speak against a team that has seven .300 hitters in their batting order... Rolling Hills should be a serious contender for their 6th Pro Cup trophy... if anyone can win the Pro Cup this year, you would think the Racers will be right at the top of a lengthy list of challengers... Rolling Hills came close to winning the IPA postseason crown last year... they are better this year because the pitching is better.

It's tough to be in a division with the Rolling Hills Racers... just ask the 2065 Kenwood Wildcats, who had a rock solid season winning 92 games... they hit .289, scored 808 runs, hit 140 baseballs out of the park... even had decent pitching with a 3.94 ERA... and the Wildcats played good defense (.979 FA)... they even won the season series with the Racers (13-9)... however, they will sit home in the postseason... same thing happened to them in 2062, too... same old scenario... Kenwood was 93-61 that year and they lost the pennant to guess who?... yep, those dastardly Racers again... 2063 was a bad season for the Wildcats (76-78), fourth place (30 GB)... but they rebounded in 2064 with an 87-67 record, good for third place (8 GB)... historically, Kenwood has played .515 baseball in its 64 seasons in the IPA with 10 playoff appearances and one Pro Cup trophy... the Wildcats just need to take the rest of the Tycobbian West Division a little more seriously... head-to-head against Rolling Hills they fare very well, but they must let up against the other six clubs.... a little better pitching... a little better hitting... a few more homers... and low and behold, Kenwood would beat the Racers... maybe... maybe not.

Gotta love the names of the players on Kenwood's all-time team leaders - Corky DiNozzo, Country Crowder, Freddy Gooch. Those are classics!

IPA baseball has been played in Chicopee for 64 years with very little success... won-lost percentage (.471)... which is not the worst in the IPA... East Point (.457), Arroyo Grande (.469), Fort Benton (.469), Ancona (.470) and Belle Plaine (.470) are all ranked lower than the Braves... only 3 playoff appearances and they all came in 2034, 2035, and 2036... Chicopee has never won a Pro Cup... never has come close to winning one... and it looks like it will never win one... but they are not alone in that dismal forecast... the current crop of Braves are fairly good at making contact with a .273 BA, average in scoring runs (631), but have no longball power (99 homers)... pitching is non-existent with a horrendous 4.99 ERA for starters... and the defense is the worst in the entire IPA with a .972 FA... in a word Chicopee's outlook is black, dark, depressing, dire, forlorn, glum, miserable, wretched, woeful and disheartening... yes, I know that is not just one word to describe the poor pathetic Braves, I just got carried away in the moment.

Such a shame... Chicopee has such a pretty logo and really nice jerseys... and a good nickname... a beautiful high school... nice, old-fashioned downtown area... wouldn't you like to live in a town like this?
I would love to move there, but as EC understands it, they have a thing called '"winter" every year in the real Chicopee in Massachusetts... with abominable things like "freezing cold weather" and "snow" and lots and lots of "ice"... and even blizzards... of course, as you know, Chicopee in Tycobbia is not like its Massachusetts' name sake... it is an idyllic and wonderful place to live... with a very mild winter and no snow... trust me... to my knowledge, it has never ever, ever snowed in Chicopee, Tycobbia. :D

It's also a very nice place to go and watch the home team lose with great regularity. ;)

The team info screens that you're posting - are they included somewhere in the game or do you create them yourself? I like the part that has the team history with the last three seasons and playoff results.

Gotta love the names of the players on Kenwood's all-time team leaders - Corky DiNozzo, Country Crowder, Freddy Gooch. Those are classics!

The game allows you to set up the page and gives you various choices... go to the team home page... in the upper right hand corner, click on "Setup".

My setup uses 2 Rows (Horizonal)... and 3 Columns (Vertical).

jg2977, I only copied two of the columns when I did the Division Recaps... there is a third column on my team screen with Division Standings and Team Injuries.

WIDE OPEN PRO CUP PLAYOFFS BEGIN TOMORROW
The 2065 IPA Pro Cup champion is anybody's guess... a case can be made for four or five teams in this year's postseason playoffs... the Claxton Diamonds are the defending Pro Cup champion and back, ready and able to win back-to-back IPA titles... Rolling Hills just barely lost out last year in the Finals and the Racers are back better than ever, seeking its 6th Pro Cup trophy... LaGrange and Southport have super pitching... and unheralded Colfax, Wynnamac, Tuckanarra and Hartsdale are hoping lightning will strike again this year and make it a dream season for them... Hartsdale was in this same position just two years ago and came away the IPA overall champion... Arlon and Ginza were lightly-regarded clubs that surprised and won it all in '58 and '59.

And it all begins tomorrow afternoon across the Islands... baseball bedlam... the Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup playoffs... reigning titleholder Claxton will open on the road on the road in LaGrange in the Ruthlandian Union... Colfax will travel to Wynnamac... over in the Tycobbian Union it will be high-powered Rolling Hills hosting the Tuckanarra Tiger Cats and the Southport Sun Sox entertaining the Hartsdale Hellcats... all playoff series are best-of-seven series.

If this year's Pro Cup playoffs play out according to the baseball pundits and prognosticators, it will be a replay of last year's great Finals... Rolling Hills will prevail in the Tycobbian Union and again tangle with Claxton, the Ruthlandian Union representative... those two powerhouses met in the Pro Cup Finals last year and the Diamonds upset the Racers in a stunning seven-game series... most of the games were decided by one run... Claxton won the first three games... Rolling Hills surged back and won the next three games... only to succumb to the Diamonds in a stirring seventh-game finale... will it happen again?

Could be... the pollsters are picking Rolling Hills to triumph this year and whip Claxton in the Pro Cup Finals.

2065 Islandian Pro Cup Series Poll

1. ROLLING HILLS RACERS (101-53)
The Racers are led by 7 All-Star players with an awesome batting order... team hit .304 this year... top offense in the entire IPA... solid pitching... Rolling Hills has an Achilles heel... the Racers are weak defensively, which might make a difference in a hotly-contested series... the 6th Pro Cup trophy just might be sitting pretty on a shelf in the Racers' trophy room soon.

2. Claxton Diamonds (94-60)
The Diamonds have strong pitching, one of the best staffs in the IPA... offense is adequate... short on power, but can score runs... with excellent defense, too... Claxton won it last year... can do it again and rein in their second straight Pro Cup trophy..

3. Southport Sun Sox (96-58)
Sun Sox are very similar to Claxton... just a good, all-round club... excellent pitching... may be the best staff in the IPA... sound offense... solid group of hitters... not a lot of home-run power... plays good defense, too...Claxton did it this way... the Sun Sox are just as good... Pro Cup number 3 just might be headed down Southport's way.

4. LaGrange Gators (95-59)
The Gators are quite a lot like Claxton and Southport... can score runs... but no longball power... deep and talented pitching corps... plays average defense... the Gators could follow in the successful footsteps of the Claxton Diamonds and captured its first-ever IPA Pro Cup trophy..

5. Tuckanarra Tiger Cats (94-60)
The Tiger Cats will have to win it with home-run power and so-so pitching... that's tough to do... defense is just fair... batting order is chocked full of good bats... the Tucks will be seeking their 4th Pro Cup.

6. Colfax Black Sox (92-62)
The Black Sox went to the Pro Cup Finals in '63 with a solid core of hitters and almost won the Pro Cup trophy... very potent attack, but just fair pitching... better-than-average with the gloves... fhis would be their second Pro Cup trophy.

7. Wynnamac Sundowners (94-60)
The Macs can smack the ball... can score runs... has fairly good power... but just fair pitching... can play defense with the best of them... the Sundowners would like to add a 3rd Pro Cup to their collection.

8. Hartsdale Hellcats (87-67)
Can the Hellcats recreate the magic of '63 when they were picked the worst team in the Pro Cup playoffs, but won it anyway in a huge upset... while the lineup is filled with solid hitters, who can score runs and hit a few out of the park with some regularity, the pitching is just average and the defense is just average... Hellcats' fans, don't get your hopes up... don't think there is a second Pro Cup in your future this year.

BIG TIME POWERS FALL IN IPA FIRST-ROUND OPENERS
The top two favorites in the IPA Pro Cup playoffs took it on the chin in the opening games of first-round action... the LaGrange Gators rallied past the defending Pro Cup champion Claxton Diamonds in 10 innings 5-3 in the Ruthlandian Union... while this year's Pro Cup favorite, powerful Rolling Hills was shut down by the Tuckanarra Tiger Cats 3-1 in Tycobbian action... in the other two playoff series Colfax clubbed Wynnamac 9-2 and Southport won a close one 3-2 over the Hartsdale Hellcats.

GATORS TOP DIAMONDS AGAIN, OTHER SERIES SPLIT
Three of the four postseason games were decided by one run in the Islandian Pro Alliance playoffs... in the Ruthlandian Union, LaGrange won its second straight over defending Pro Cup champion Claxton, edging the Diamonds 5-4... and Wynnamac gained a split with Colfax, defeating the Black Sox 4-3... in the Tycobbian Union, Hartsdale took 12 innings to get by Southport 2-1... the other game was a rout... Pro Cup favorite Rolling Hills smashed Tuckanarra 9-3 to even that series at one game each.

ANYONE STILL CAN WIN THE IPA PRO CUP
Three games into the Islandian Pro Alliance postseason playoffs, any one of the 8 challengers can still win it... no one has dug a deep hole yet that they can't escape... LaGrange, Colfax, Pro Cup favorite Rolling Hills and Southport have won two of the first three games, but Pro Cup champion Claxton, Wynnamac, Tuckanarra and Hartsdale are still in the game.

Yesterday afternoon in the Ruthlandian Union first round Claxton outlasted LaGrange 1-0 in a 13-inning masterpiece and Colfax held off Wynnamac 3-2... over in the Tycobbian Union Rolling Hills smacked Tuckanarra 5-0 and Southport silenced Hartsdale 4-0.

3 OF 4 IPA DIVISION SERIES KNOTTED AT 2-2
Only one series in the Islandian Pro Alliance postseason playoffs looks to be decided... in the Tycobbian Division Championship Series Southport took a giant leap with a 8-5 triumph over the Hartsdale Hellcats for a three games to one edge in that best-of-seven series... the other three are deadlocked at two games each... Wynnamac hung on and nudged past the Colfax Black Sox 6-5 in the Ruthlandian DCS and the Claxton Diamonds blitzed the LaGrange Gators 2-0... in the other TU first-round series Tuckanarra whipped the Rolling Hills Racers 7-4... all the teams will be in action this afternoon with game five on the slate.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to play games today.
I spent all day working on updating some of the team logos, jerseys and caps... several talented graphic designers have agreed to help me revamp some of the teams... I have to give them the teams that I need to update and post them on the OOTP Graphics Forum.

SUN SOX IN TU FINALS, TUCKS LEAD RACERS 3-2
The Southport Sun Sox are the first team to advance in the Islandian Pro Alliance playoffs... they eliminated the 8th-ranked Hartsdale Hellcats in five games and will now play for the Tycobbian title... the #3-rated Sun Sox sent the Hellcats home for the winter with a 7-2 shellacking yesterday afternoon.

The other three series are still in progress... Tuckanarra won a tense duel with Rolling Hills 2-1 and took command of that best-of-seven series... the Tiger Cats are ahead three games to two... ditto for the Ruthlandian Union first-round action... the LaGrange Gators nipped the defending Pro Cup champion Claxton 3-2... and the Colfax Black Sox zapped Wynnamac 3-0... the Gators and Black Sox lead the Diamonds and the Sundowners by a game... game six of those three series are slated for this afternoon.
