Interesting start to the season so far. The top teams are starting to pull away, now three leaders with 4+ game leads. The Red Rockets and Rad Sax are both red hot. Roxbury may run away with it again

StLee 09-09-2023 08:49 AM

The league is definitely top-heavy right now. There may be other actual contenders, but it appears Roxbury, County Crossing, Jamaica Plain, and Nordhagen Beach are the teams truly battling for the right to the title this season.

I thought a few other teams would be more competitive, like the Reapers. I did not expect them to be a playoff team, but I did expect closer to a .400 win percentage than a .200 one. As I have mentioned, an ideal range is for the top teams to be around .600 and the bottom teams to be around .400. I am not getting those results even with the 125 Talent Change Randomness.

Again, I have to remember that the short-term returns are not as problematic as the long-term returns. When I used a test sim into the future, every franchise seemed to have its turn at some point. Based on the minor-league ratings, there are some teams that are either going to get a lot of talent coming up soon or they'll trade those prospects away for trusty veterans who will make them competitive sooner.

BNN Monthly Report

Last Month in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 June 2304

Month's Outstanding Players

CBO

NCA Hitter - At only 25 years of age, Babs Rooth could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the County Crossing Bloodbugs, as May was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .333 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

In his season totals, Rooth has 17 home runs, .331 BA, .430 OBP, 40 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 43 games.

SCA Hitter - Barker Cocoa may be much younger than other hitters in the South Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 25-year-old University Point first baseman hit .375 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Cocoa on the season is batting .400 with 17 home runs. His totals include 43 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has played in 43 games.

NCA Pitcher - Whip Lashley of County Crossing excelled on the mound in May with a 4-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the North Charles Association.

Lashley restricted opposing batters to 31 base hits and a .191 batting average. He rang up 30 strikeouts in 45.1 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks, and fashioned a 1.59 ERA.

This season, Lashley has 6 wins and 3 losses and a 2.27 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - When Chris Teddybear takes the hill, chances are good for a Jamaica Plain victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 2.36 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 34.1 innings, fanned 32 and held others clubs to a .229 average.

That's why the Red Rockets star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the South Charles Association.

For the year Teddybear has compiled a 8-1 record with a 1.69 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Yes, Machine Man Fortune is just a rookie. But he is a special rookie. Today the 23-year-old Salem starter was awarded the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month trophy for his standout performance in May.

He dominated the rookie class, registering 3 wins and 2 losses in 6 starts with 24 strikeouts in 33.2 innings and a 3.48 ERA.

Not bad for a first-year man.

Fortune has made 11 starts so far this year and put up a 3-5 won-lost record with a 5.05 ERA. In 62.1 innings he has allowed 77 hits, walked 23 and struck out 41.

SCA Rookie - Justin Tootles is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Egret hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .350 average with 7 hits, 1 home run and 2 RBIs.

For the year Tootles has hit .306 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

BMU

CA Hitter - Jason Templeman is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Cambridge left fielder joined that select company when the Commonwealth Association announced the results of May's voting.

Templeman totaled 30 hits, 7 walks, 12 home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored last month to put together a .390 batting average and .440 on-base percentage.

MA Hitter - Otto Krappe put together a good May to earn the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Vault 95 officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Robobrains shortstop posted a .403 batting average with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

CA Pitcher - Jason Bourque really strutted his stuff in May with 4 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Commonwealth Association. The Breakheart Banks starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 32 innings of work, Bourque limited opposing batters to 23 base hits and a .204 batting average. He totaled 17 strikeouts, issued 9 walks and had a 1.41 ERA.

MA Pitcher - Aaron Demps of Cabot House had an excellent May with a 4-0 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the Massachusetts Association.

He finished the month with a 1.27 ERA while piling up 23 strikeouts in 35.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .176 batting average.

GBRL

NL Hitter - Ben Dimecup made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the North League this past month.

The Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks right fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 21-year-old hit .382 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

SL Hitter - Atomatoys Factory Buttercups fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May.

Magnum Peaeye put up a remarkable month at the age of 19 and has been named the South League Batter of the Month.

For the month, Peaeye hit .405 with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

NL Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher in the North League this month was Walden Pond Poets reliever John Williams. He won the league's premier pitcher award for May by saving 10 games in 10 save opportunities.

During the period Williams also had 1 win and no losses. The Walden Pond relief specialist had 8 strikeouts and 6 walks in 12 innings, permitted 10 base hits and compiled a 0.75 ERA.

SL Pitcher - The South League hitters didn't have a chance in May when the Beantown Brewers manager wrote "Downing" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Ryan Downing held teams in check and usually got a win.

He excelled with a 3-0 mark and 2.50 ERA in 4 starts. The talented Brewers star pitched 36 innings, fanned 48 and held opposing teams to a .171 average.

For his superb mound work Downing was named the SL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

BYDL

NR Hitter - Family Sam Partridge has a lot going for him. The Boston Harbor right fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the North Region has just picked him as its top hitter for May.

In 28 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .405 with 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

SR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Boston Youth Development League, Missile Crews put up some good numbers in May and earned the SR Batter of the Month award.

He was one of West Quincy's offensive leaders with a .423 average in 28 games. He also racked up 13 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 25 runs scored.

NR Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in May has been selected and the North Region honor went to Lynn Pier hurler, Saint O'Fender. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher.

During the month, O'Fender was superb with a 1.12 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 48 innings he struck out 49 and gave up 39 hits and 10 walks.

SR Pitcher - Mister Burns was firing on all cylinders in the month of May with 5 wins as he steamrolled all South Region opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award.

During the month Burns was 5-0 with a 1.01 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 53.2 innings and had 57 strikeouts.

CCYL

Playoff Outlook - With 13 games to play in the season, the playoff outlook looks clear in one division, while the other looks to be a fight to the finish in the Cape Cod Youth League.

In the South Division, the West Dennis Menaces (19-8) have a five-game lead over the second-place Harwich Fishheads (14-13). In the North Division, the Truro Hatchlings (15-12) has a one-game lead over both the Provincetown Land Pirates (14-13) and the Wellfleet Settlement Beacons (14-13).

Juniors, CF Pad Mee (.304/5/16) and RF Pogo Cliffhanger (.268/7/18), lead the Menaces in a potent offense that leads the CCYL in runs scored. FR SP Leo Mondragon (5-0, 1.80) has been their best pitcher.

For the Hatchlings, they have been led by JR 3B Carlos Lars-Mars (.290/9/24) and SO SP Sebastian Brakefield (5-2, 1.49).

Hitter - When Castor Puzzlemaker stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Cape Cod Youth League Batter of the Month award.

The young Harwich left fielder posted a .340 batting average with 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 19 runs. Puzzlemaker also worked pitchers for 10 walks to post a .405 on-base percentage.

Pitcher - When Sebastian Brakefield takes the mound, a Truro victory is usually the result. That was the case in May.

That's why he was voted the Cape Cod Youth League Pitcher of the Month.

Brakefield throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 5-2 mark and 1.49 ERA in 8 starts. The Hatchlings star hurler also rung up 53 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.

PJPL

Playoff Outlook - Like the CCYL, the Providence Junior Pro League has just 15 games left to play. Unlike the CCYL, there is no clear leader in the PJPL, though there is one team at the top.

The Woodlawn Red Clay (15-10) is currently the league leader, with the Freeplat Wicked Goods (14-11) just one game behind them. There is a three-way tie for fourth place, all just four games behind the Red Clay.

Woodlawn may be the team to beat for a few years, with four good freshmen pitchers: Thrifty Tony Malacara (3-1, 1.29), Red Eagle (2-1, 1.89), Mjoll Lioness (3-2, 2.90), and Idgrod Younger (4-1, 1.96).

Hitter - West Seekonk Quahog fans believe they've got a talented young star in Avrusa Sarethi.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .327 with 8 home runs, 21 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

The end result was the first baseman being named the Providence Junior Pro League Batter of the Month.

Pitcher - Pokey Chatman of the Pawtucket Paw Sox was on top of his game the entire month of May, capping it off with the Providence Junior Pro League Pitcher of the Month honors.

He was outstanding in 7 starts with 5 wins and 2 losses, 56.1 IP, 51 strikeouts and a fine 1.44 ERA.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 June 2304

New Look, Fun Runs in the NWL

The 2304 NWL season is a month in, and the new look of splitting teams into the North Bradberton and South Bradberton divisions has given new excitement to the playoff race. Here's a look at what happened in May.

In the NB Division, the Victory Cave Crickets have taken the early lead in the division, leading the Quantum Nukalurks by a game. The Cave Crickets have looked to be the top team overall in the NWL, leading in both runs scored (152) and runs allowed (105).

On offense, Victory's 2B Diss Montand (.471/0/11) has been ripping hits galore. 1B Settler Colon (.389/1/16), 3B John Parsons (.344/0/9), C Coco Caravaneer (.340/2/13), and RF Brotherseven Dadson (.340/4/10) are all hitting above .300 as regulars for a team batting .323 on the season. Part-time 2B Speedy MacMillan is batting .453.

The league has experienced an extreme hitting imbalance since the first season, with hitting much more talented than pitching. That does not mean Victory is not loaded, leading the NWL in Staters ERA (3.71). The most successful pitcher to keep the ERA low is SP Chad Hartwig (3-1, 2.68). CL Ryan Bugg (7 SV, 2.45) leads the bullpen.

In the SB Division, the Quartz Star Force have a more comfortable lead, 2.5 games ahead of the Orange Tourists. Despite winning most of their games, however, the Star Force has not been as dominant as Victory. Quartz is currently 4th in runs scored (128) and tide for 5th in runs allowed (123).

On offense, everything revolves around the hitting in the third hole of 3B Daniel Rousseaux (.422/3/24). LF Alec LeVier (.374/4/10), RF Step Chaver (.373/1/12), 2B Brad Krol (.324/6/21), and SS Julian Roughneck (.326/2/6) have all contributed heavily on offense.

The starting pitching is 6th in ERA (4.98), which has kept the team from being the NWL's best. Ace SP Craig Widmar (1-3, 4.71) has the lowest ERA but is the only starter with a losing record. CL Salacious Thames (5 SV, 2.25) has helped keep the runs down, as has RP Rouge Iorres (2-0, 1.74).

Top Players in May

NWL Hitter and Top Rookie - For a rookie just breaking in, Signal Frummy certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the NWL Batter of the Month award for May.

The 26-year-old second baseman for the Quantum Nukalurks hit .495 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

NWL Pitcher - Bull Johnson really put his best foot forward in May with 6 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Nuka World League. When he got the start for the Orange Tourists, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 58 innings of work, Johnson limited opposing batters to 53 base hits and a .245 batting average. He notched 47 strikeouts, issued 16 walks and had a 2.48 ERA.

APL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 25 Savoy Slurp has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Bradberton Disciples star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .373 average with 7 home runs, 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

APL Pitcher - A 2-0 record with a 1.39 ERA is a good month for most any pitcher. The Amusement Park League thought it was worthy of an award and named Tyler Nagy, starter for the Safari Adventure Gazelles, May's Pitcher of the Month.

He also held the opposition to a .291 average while posting 26 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.

NWLR - Season begins June 20

BBL Hitter - Os Cazadore picked up the top batter prize in the Bradberton Boys League for May.

The Fizztop Mountain first baseman hit .411 with 17 home runs, 27 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He also drew 14 walks to post an OBP of .486.

BBL Pitcher - Wes Janson had an outstanding May -- so good that the Bradberton Boys League presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today.

"There's no way to know where the Shovels would be without Janson," one fan is quoted as saying.

In May Janson dominated the competition, running up a 5-1 record, a 2.97 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 36.1 innings.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

Very Good Gulpers, Ghoul Whales Vault into Victory's View

Vikki Vail, your devoted Vim! League correspondent, ventures into the vortex of Vim! news as May's vibrant vista unfolds. The National Park Gulpers and Far Harbor Ghoul Whales, veritable visionaries, valiantly lead their respective divisions as we voyage through this vivacious month.

The Gulpers gallantly glide 2.5 games ahead, victorious over both the Eden Meadows Anglers and Echo Lake Harbormen in the Fog Division. Meanwhile, the Gwhales viciously cling to a half-game lead in the Harbor Division, fending off the Grand Hotel Atoms.

When we survey the Vim! League's top teams, National Park emerges as the verifiable vanguard. Their record vouches for their excellence, yet the statistics veil some verisimilitude. The Gulpers are tied for 5th in runs scored, mustering 128 valiant runs, yet stand 2nd in runs allowed with a virtuous 113.

Their offense excels in numerous categories, with the exception of run generation. This peculiarity, it seems, is due to their ranking of 7th (the very last) in home runs with a modest 20. The chief catalyst for this modest yet valiant figure is SS Steve Commie, boasting a veritable .462 batting average, 4 home runs, and 17 RBIs, positioning him as an early MVP contender. C Tony Becker (.347/2/17) and CF Jeff Cramer (.323/2/15) have also verily contributed to the offense's valor.

The pitching staff, a vital vein of the Gulpers' success, unveils a variegated story. SP Niner Poliquin (2-1, 1.84) and Steve Harpoon (4-0, 2.45) emerge as valiant stars in their starting rotation. RP John Baty (3-0, 1.06) proves to be the Gulpers' virtuoso reliever, while CL Ethan Tarberry (4 SV, 10.80) looms as a vexing vulnerability.

Far Harbor, sharing the Vim! League's third place in runs scored (129), navigates through the turbulent seas of success, ranking sixth in runs allowed (137). This situation veils the division leader's long-term viability, especially in comparison to the more steadfast Atoms.

The division leader's distinction stems from their 4-2 season series advantage over the Atoms, underlining a valorous edge. On the offensive front, 2B Jarrod Sebiess (.370/5/20) marches as the Ghoul Whales' vanguard in their voyage. Accompanying him are RF Adam Crewmate (.354/2/14), LF Blu Furman (.346/1/20), and CF Drew Buntrock (.305/3/20), who provide valuable contributions.

Pitching proves to be Far Harbor's vexing vexation, ranking sixth in Starters ERA (5.60) and fourth in Bullpen ERA (4.96). SP Alex Ruder (5-2, 4.02) valiantly leads the starters, while RP Enrique Rodriguez (0-0, 1.84) emerges as a beacon of hope in the bullpen. Chris Blackmire (3-3, 7.58) valiantly transitions from a starting role to the closing position, filling the void left by the injured CL Noodle Green (17 SV, 2.88 in 2303).

As we venture deeper into this Vim! League voyage, stay vigilant for the valiant struggles and victories that will undoubtedly define this vibrant season.

Standings

Outstanding Players in May (from BNN reports)

VL Hitter - Steve Commie relied on a .462 average to become the Vim! League Batter of the Month. He had a good May, going 42 for 91.

He finished with 4 home runs and 17 RBIs, scored 20 runs, and had a .532 on-base percentage.

VL Pitcher - It was a monstrous May for the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month award winner, Nick Glawe of the Grand Hotel Atoms. He put up some mighty scary numbers.

Glawe recorded 4 wins and 1 loss in 7 starts. Throwing a total of 50 innings, he yielded 43 hits, mowed down 34 on strikes, gave up 16 walks and put up a solid ERA of 2.52 in a stellar month on the mound.

VL Rookie - Ryan Hurst earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Vim! League for last month's performance. The boyish Echo Lake third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Hurst hit .383 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

MDIL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Whear Flynn set the league afire in May and took home the Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month award.

The Eagle's Cove second baseman posted a steady .408 batting average, 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs.

MDIL Pitcher - It's official!
Mike Ropeman of the Rayburn Point Patcheyes is the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month. In May he dominated the league with 4 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts. In 51 innings of work Ropeman chalked up 34 strikeouts, 12 walks, a 1.41 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .247 batting average.

VRL - Season begins June 20

MYL MDI4 Hitter - Today Tasu Leech was voted Mount Desert Island Four Batter of the Month for June. During the month the 16-year-old National Park third baseman compiled a .330 batting average.

Most importantly for the Rangers though, he also posted 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

MYL GDIL Hitter - It's a time for celebration in Pleasant Cove as Mercurial Swift has just walked away with May's Great Diamond Island League Batter of the Month award.

He socked 30 hits in 98 at-bats to put up a .306 batting average, 6 home runs, 10 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

MYL MDI4 Pitcher - When Truss Tee takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the National Park Rangers. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-1 mark and 1.53 ERA in 7 starts. In 47 innings, he fanned 39 and walked 9.
That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Mount Desert Island Four.

MYL GDIL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month for May has been picked and the Great Diamond Island League award went to Echo Point hurler, Keip Choppin.

During the month, Choppin was impressive with a 3.47 ERA and 5 wins and 1 loss. In 49.1 innings he struck out 53 and gave up 27 hits and 23 walks.

I have a background in statistics, and the number one, golden rule they always emphasize is you can't tell anything from a small sample. In short, you can't tell anything from one season. It's why it's not a lie when I say I'm genuinely not concerned in the slightest the Cardinals are having the worst season since I was born. It's just one season.

I think you have a very good structure for creating dynamism in your universe, which is naturally going to even out things over time. Generally that's why I'm a fan of the financial system, though this being such a custom universe I'm 100% on board with understanding why it's not at play here, but if you're still concerned you could add in another category of "events" you roll for to simulate financials without actually using financials, merely because the more events = the more the leveling effect will become.

Apologies for not commenting much lately, BG3 and now Starfield have been distracting me. Seeing as Starfield is basically Fallout in space (and obviously a Bethesda game) I think you'd really like it. It's got an optimistic tone that's missing from a lot of current media that's quite refreshing, and I know you've said you enjoy that.

In MLB there are definitive demarcations of financial advantages (Dodgers and Yankees with typical huge advantages over the Royals and Pirates, for example) that I cannot accept in my dynasty, thus the fixed incomes of the players in the league. It also gives me much more control! I like the idea of introducing some financial events, though, and may consider something like that. Maybe I will add in a redistribution draft of sorts over time if I feel some teams can never find their footing. However, I do need to be patient. If this dynasty is here to stay, then it needs patience.

Not related to the above, but there are some future events I look forward to, but they just need to wait!

About Starfield, what I have read about it has convinced me that I will buy it, but I cannot buy it now. I hardly have time these days to switch on OOTP for a few simulation days. I want to play significant time on another purchase I made, Red Dead Redemption II, before I move to Starfield. I don't anticipate even getting much time on RDR until maybe mid-December. By then, I could change my mind and want to play Starfield if my laptop can handle it.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

13 June 2304

Analysis

There are some dynamics emerging in both the North Charles Association and South Charles Association. The NCA sees a Brotherhood League with the association's top three records, while the Institute League has a toppling Concord team allowing Fort Hagen to claim first place during the Stags' 9-game losing streak.

In the SCA, five teams look to be playoff bound, though the Railroad League's FHE and Vault 81 are far from done. The Minutemen League sports a trifecta of power in Jamaica Plain, University Point, and Atom.

Speaking of the Red Rockets, they take the #1 spot on this midday of June. Jamaica Plain trails by one game for the CBO's top record, but have been a strong 7-3 in the last 10, tied six other teams for the best record in that span. The Rockets split with Egret (#17), swept Quincy (#19), swept the Ninjas, and the won one of three at the Gunners.

Roxbury still holds the best record in the CBO, though they struggled more than usual in their last 10, going 6-4. The Rad Sox swept Goodneighbor (#15), won two of three over the Yao Guai (#10), split at Atom (#8), and then won one at Diamond City (#6).

Nordhagen Beach comes in at #3 despite trailing in the BL by a game thanks to a 7-3 streak. The Boys split with Abernathy (#23), swept Salem (#22), split with an equally hot Lexington (#14), and then won two of three versus the Witch Hats.

The leaders of the BL, County Crossing, is #4, despite their three-game losing streak. Before that, though, the Bloodbugs had won 10 straight. In the last 10, the Bugs swept Sunshine Tidings (#11), swept Finch Farm (#21), swept the Radstags (#16), and then got swept at Easy Town (#7), the third-best team in the NCA.

At #5, we see the always-tough University Point Deathclaws, going 7-3 in the last 10. The Claws started with a split against the Swatters, won two of three at the Hancocks, swept FHE, and then won two of three over Spectacle Island (#24).

BNN Youth Leagues Report

This Month in the BYDL, CCYL, and PJPL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

16 June 2304

CCYL, PJPL End Regular Seasons

The CCYL and PJPL have both concluded their regular seasons with each league hosting a two-team playoff in the Cape Cod Series and Rhode Island Series, respectively.

The CCYL will feature a battle between the winners of the North and South divisions, as the North's Truro Hatchlings (25-15) will face off against the South's West Dennis Menaces (25-15). One of the two teams will win its first Cape Cod Series. Chatham Lighthouse, Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters, and Harwich Fishheads were the first three champions. This is the first appearance in the CCS for both Truro and West Dennis.

The Hatchlings completed the season tied for 1st in runs scored (168) and 5th in runs allowed (154). A few team leaders on offense include JR 3B Carlos Lars-Mars (.297/10/29), FR CF Calixto Corrium (.291/6/29), FR RF Talsgar Wanderer (.289/4/19), and FR 1B Fura Morrard (.264/8/20). For pitching, the tea, is led by SO SP Sebastian Brakefield (6-2, 1.30), JR SP Waxer Lucatero (6-2, 2.31), JR CL Q.T. Pai (13 SV, 1.77), and JR RP Moralo Eval (2-0, 2.31).

For the Menaces, they finished 3rd in runs scored (164) and 1st in runs allowed (102). On offense, West Dennis is led by JR RF Pogo Cliffhanger (.270/11/27), JR CF Pad Mee (.285/6/18), JR 1B Ani Waalk (.277/5/19), and SO C Phoney Brown (.234/6/19). Their pitching has two good starters in JR SP Jobie Toast (5-3, 1.72) and SO SP Lucky Petman (5-3, 1.62). However, they are missing their other starters in FR SP Leo Mondragon (5-1, 1.89) and FR SP Skulvar Sablehilt (4-2, 2.90). JR RP Odd Ball (0-1, 1 SV, 2.50, 1 GS) may get the third start should the series go three games.

In the PJPL, both the Woodlawn Red Clay (26-15) and Pawtucket Paw Sox (25-16) finished the regular season tied but had a one-game series to determine seeding, with the Red Clay taking that game, 2-1. The Paw Sox have won two of three championships in the three-year history of the PJPL. Woodlawn is making its second appearance in the Rhode Island Series, having lost to the Hope Firestarters in 2302. This is the first season that Hope is not in the RIS.

The Red Clay finished the season 1st in runs scored (167) and 2nd in runs allowed (112). Their three best offensive players are JR 1B Weequay Taanti (.318/5/18), JR SS Dathomirian Zabrak (.316/5/17), and FR RF Sebastian Lort (.294/7/35). Three quality pitchers include three freshmen SPs in Thrifty Tony Malacara (4-3, 1.89), Red Eagle (4-1, 1.71), and Idgrod Younger (6-2, 1.99).

For the Paw Sox, they were 2nd in runs scored (134) and 1st in runs allowed (108). SO 3B Zero Nought (.248/10/26), JR LF Voldsea Giryon (.282/9/14), and JR RF Pagetti Rook (.289/3/11) led the team on offense. Pawtucket's pitching was led by outstanding JR SP Pokey Chatman (8-3, 1.27), SO SP Marshall Adventure (4-2, 2.32), and FR CL Adventus Caesennius (10 SV, 0.00), who did not allow a run in 20.2 IP.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

MYL InVigorated by Valued Youth Clubs

Both the Mount Desert Island Four and Great Diamond Island League have of the Vim! youth leagues system come to an end for the vaunted 2304 season. The National Park Rangers (27-13) and the Echo Point Glowers (24-17), victorious in their respective leagues, will now face each other for the Maine Youth Series.

National Park was 1st in every offensive category in the vulturous four-team league. Their three best-valued all-around offensive players were LF Kaydel Ko-Connix (.258/9/19), 1B Moon Maid (.282/3/17), and RF John Glowing (.270/5/21). Their three viable starters were also outstanding for the 2nd best pitching staff. Those three are SP Truss Tee (5-3. 1.86), SP Ric Olie (2-0, 1.48), and SP Greer Sonnel (4-1, 1.74).

For the Glowers, they were not as villainous in their league, having to win a tie-breaker against the perhaps better team in the Diamond Cove Fort Knights. Echo Point was 2nd in runs scored and 3rd in runs allowed in the four-team league. On offense, they were led on their championship voyage by RF Trent Chuppta (.307/5/21), 2B Pan Sea (.273/6/23), and 3B Clutch Cash (.268/5/12). SP Keip Choppin (6-1, 3.55) was their only starter with a winning record. SP Testor Pava (5-5, 3.33) also helped. Five other vital players were tied for third on the team with two victories apiece. CL Kazuda Xiono (13 SV, 2.40) led the bullpen.

Ha, well, in lieu of becoming too much of a nerd, let me just say I'm here if you want any help thinking of financial related events or anything. Finance and that sort of statistics are one of my areas of expertise.

The great thing about Starfield seems to be you actually can just pick it up for 30 minutes here and there, because there's always "something" to do, but I say that as someone who's spent probably 2/3 of their time running around barren planets (which are surprisingly interesting!) scanning every last rock. For something that might, on its surface, seem like a really boring mechanic, it's been engaging so far, and you can basically do it whenever you want for however long you want if you're not up for whatever mission is on the table at the moment.

As for the standings in the Dynasty at the moment: I'll just reiterate again I actually do like how the season is shaping up, from a OOC perspective, and look forward to a playoff matchup with the Shroud and Bloodbugs ;)

It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious West Dennis Menaces, that meant the Cape Cod Youth League Cape Cod Series trophy.

The Menaces took a 4-3 victory over the Truro Hatchlings at West Dennis Recreational Field, winning their 1st championship after taking the series 2-1.

"We've got grit," said Menaces first baseman Ani Waalk, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."

The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Cape Cod League South Division and a 25-15 record.

PJPL

The Providence Junior Pro League offseason is like a river. It ebbs and flows toward a sea of uncertainty. The next few months, though, are where a superior general manager really makes his mark: contract negotiations, trade talks, club assessments, scouting and minor league evaluations. Now that the 2304 playoffs are in the books, it's time for GMs and their staff to get down to the business of creating next year's version of their team.

You may now vote for the league award winners, the option is available in the league menu.

"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Starport Nuka manager Airplane Ruesch. "It's a great feeling."

The champs finished the regular season 25-16 and claimed first place in the BBL.

In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and right fielder Karyn Faro said the Hubologists have "great fans and they deserve this."

"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.

MYL

With a 3-0 win over the Echo Point Glowers at Echo Point Park today, the National Park Rangers wrapped up their 1st title in team history.

The Rangers left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game.

"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said National Park manager Pigface Jones. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."

A jovial mood filled the air as National Park celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order.

"I hope they have a big celebration," Echo Point manager Matt Grigsby said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it."

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

27 June 2304

Analysis

There are 10 teams in the CBO above .500, five in the North Charles Association and five in the South Charles Association. If the playoffs were to start today, those 10 teams would be in the playoffs with the following seeds:

NCA
1. Nordhagen Beach, 2. Sunshine Tidings, 3. County Crossing, 4. Concord, 5. Easy Town

SCA
1. Roxbury, 2. Jamaica Plain, 3. University Point, 4. Diamond City, 5. Atom

The Power Rankings also follow suit with all 10 of those teams in the Top 10. Let's take a look at the Top 5.

Roxbury comes in at #1, holding the CBO's best record through the midpoint of the season. The Rad Sox were also hot in their last 10, tying for the best in the CBO at 9-1. In those games, the Sox swept Quincy (#19), swept Diamond City (#8), split with University Point (#3), and swept Egret (#23).

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are #2 after also going 9-1 in their last 10. The Boys returned to their dominant ways, sweeping Fort Hagen (#12), sweeping The Slog (#22), splitting at Lexington (#14), and then getting a big home sweep over County Crossing (#5).

At #3, the previously mentioned Deathclaws come in after a 7-3 stretch and despite being two games back of Jamaica Plain (#4) in the Minutemen League. The Claws were swept by the Swatters, swept Spectacle Island (#21), split at Roxbury, and then swept Goodneighbor (#17).

The Rockets are #4 because of a 5-5 stretch in their last 10. Jamaica Plain swept FHE (#13), won two of three over Atom (#9), got swpet by the Yao Guai, and then lost two of three at the Cats.

The Bloodbugs complete the Top 5, going 5-5 in their last 10, including that current three-game losing streak after being swept by the Boys, In the first seven of those games, the Bugs split with the Synths, won tow of three against Easy Town (#7), and swept Abernathy (#24).

So looking at the head to heads, and I never thought I'd see myself doing this at the start given my distaste of insects, but I'm gonna make a Bold Prediction (TM) just for all of ours amusement. I'm gonna put my money on the Bloodbugs this year instead of the Shroud.

Picking County Crossing to win it all is a safe pick. It appears one of CC or Nordhagen Beach has the best chance, and I almost think it is better to be the #3 seed for matchup sake in the first round.

The NWL manager conceded that not every deserving player is rewarded with a spot on the roster. "Every year," he said, "someone is disappointed to be left out. This year's no different -- too many good players, not enough roster spots."

NWL All-Star Game Results

Although his team came out on the losing end, nobody could deny Sam Noob's performance in this year's all-star game.

The North Bradberton Division All-Stars fell to the South Bradberton Division All-Stars by a score of 3-2, but Noob was still named the game's MVP.

"You would have liked to have won the game of course, but being named the MVP is a great honor," he said from his team's dressing room at Ol' Sugartop Ballpark at Dry Rock Gulch.

In the contest, Noob went 2 for 3.

All-time Noob has played in 186 games, batted .355 with 47 home runs and 262 base hits.

BNN Monthly Report

Last Month in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 July 2304

Month's Outstanding Players

CBO

NCA Hitter - Lannie Tykeson battered North Charles Association pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old Tykeson told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 21 games, Tykeson hit .455 with 8 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

Tykeson is hitting at a .356 mark this season. His stats show 18 home runs, 55 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has played 64 games for the Assaultrons.

SCA Hitter - Diamond Ball made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Charles Association this past month.

The Spectacle Island Reapers second baseman shined through the month of June and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 20-year-old hit .374 with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Ball is presently hitting at a .319 pace with 24 home runs, 45 RBIs and has scored 44 times.

NCA Pitcher - Danny Haines really tore up the North Charles Association this past month. He went 4-0 in June and won the Pitcher of the Month award.

In 3 starts he struck out 22 in 27.1 innings with a 0.66 ERA.

This year Haines has posted a 7-2 mark in 3 starts and has a 4.24 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month has been picked and the South Charles Association trophy went to University Point hurler Phlip Wallace for his strong performance in June.

During the month, Wallace was impressive with a 1.30 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 41.2 innings he struck out 18 and gave up 32 hits and 10 walks.

Presently Wallace has a 11-4 mark in 16 starts with a 2.28 ERA. He has given up 98 hits in 114.1 innings, struck out 54 and issued 34 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .235 batting average against him.

NCA Rookie - Tut Campbell is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Sunshine Tidings hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .356 average with 16 hits, 1 home run and 6 RBIs.

This year Campbell is hitting at a .303 pace with 1 home run and 8 RBIs. He has played in 41 games and scored 14 times.

SCA Rookie - Youngster Justin Tootles emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Egret deserved the honor, batting .237 with no home runs and 4 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Tootles enjoy the limelight.

On the year Tootles is hitting .259 with 29 hits, 1 home run, 10 RBIs, .294 OBP and has scored 8 runs.

BMU

CA Hitter - Cram Garge is on a tear! After posting a .418 average in June, the Union Hope center fielder took home the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award handed out earlier today.

He cracked 33 hits with 16 home runs and 33 RBIs and scored 24 runs. The 27-year-old also collected 8 free passes and posted a .477 on-base percentage.

So far this season Garge has put up a .339 batting average with 60 hits, 29 home runs and 57 RBIs.

MA Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Boston Minor Union, Petit Frenchman put up some good numbers in June and earned the MA Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Warwick's offensive leaders with a .353 average in 20 games. He also racked up 13 home runs, 28 RBIs, and 22 runs scored.

Frenchman on the season is hitting .350 with 20 home runs. His stats include 46 RBIs and 34 runs scored.

CA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in June has been selected and the Commonwealth Association honor went to Cambridge hurler, Josh Dude. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher.

During the month, Dude was superb with a 3.03 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 38.2 innings he struck out 19 and gave up 46 hits and 4 walks.

This year Dude has compiled a 4-3 mark with a 4.61 ERA in 8 starts.

MA Pitcher - There's no doubt that Triggermen starter Accident John earned his Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month award. He left absolutely no room for doubt as he mowed his way through the opposition in June.

During the month John was 4-1 with a 1.15 ERA. He made 5 starts, tossed 39 innings and had 19 strikeouts.

Thus far this season John has posted a 9-3 record, started 11 games, struck out 40 batters in 80.2 innings and compiled a 2.57 ERA.

GBRL

NL Hitter - Walden Pond Poets fans believe they've got a talented young star in Perry DeVita.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .440 with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

The end result was the third baseman being named the North League Batter of the Month.

This year DeVita is batting .350 with 16 home runs. He has scored 38 runs and driven in 51.

SL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Ken Debate certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the SL Batter of the Month award for June.

The 19-year-old left fielder for the Coast Guard Pier Demolitionists hit .370 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Currently Debate is batting .286 with 52 hits and 18 home runs. He has knocked in 44 runs and scored 37 times.

NL Pitcher - Tony Softhands was on cloud nine the entire month of June, capping it off with the North League Pitcher of the Month honors.

The Walden Pond starter was spectacular in 5 starting assignments with 4 wins and no losses, 38.1 innings pitched, 16 strikeouts and a fine 3.76 ERA.

This year Softhands has registered 8 wins and 2 losses in 12 starts with a 4.28 ERA while registering 49 strikeouts and 45 walks in 88.1 innings.

SL Pitcher - R.J. Shepherd hasn't been around long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning South League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In June the Westing Estate starter earned a 4-0 mark in 5 starts. He threw 39 innings, struck out 40 and compiled a solid 2.31 ERA.

This season Shepherd has compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.59 ERA in 11 starts.

BYDL

NR Hitter - Family Sam Partridge put together a good June to earn the North Region Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Boston Harbor officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Harborfellows right fielder posted a .414 batting average with 15 home runs, 31 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

Thus far this year Partridge is batting .409 with 30 home runs, 74 RBIs and 60 runs scored.

SR Hitter - Spectacle Island Specters fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June.

Aaron Squire put up a remarkable month at the age of 17 and has been named the South Region Batter of the Month.

For the month, Squire hit .542 with 11 home runs, 38 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

Thus far this season Squire has hit .429 with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and scored 56 times.

NR Pitcher - The premier pitcher this past month in the North Region was Paul Stains of the North Charles Bank Goonies. He was one mighty tough pitcher, finishing June with a sensational 4-1 record and a 1.96 ERA.

The Goonies star made 7 starts and surrendered 32 hits in 46 innings. He struck out 69 and walked 18.

So far this year Stains has compiled a 9-3 record with a 1.86 ERA.

SR Pitcher - Hard John Horvath took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the South Region Pitcher of the Month award for June.

The 15-year-old Specters starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 5-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 59 batters in 45 innings and compiled a 1.80 ERA.

This year Horvath has made 13 starts, thrown 91.1 innings, fanned 106 batters and walked 30. His won-lost record is 10-2 with a 2.66 ERA.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

11 July 2304

Analysis

We are now 60% through the season, and now we see a trend: SSDD. In the past five seasons of the CBO's official six-year history, there have been four different champions: Diamond City (twice), Nordhagen Beach, University Point, and Roxbury.

In 2304, the last three champions hold the CBO's top three records, with Roxbury (55-17), Nordhagen Beach (52-20), and University Point (47-25) all at the top. The Deathclaws actually are tied for third-best with County Crossing. Diamond City (42-30) has the fourth-best record in the South Charles Association, but they seem to hold a major edge over FHE (37-35) and Vault 81 (35-37) for 2nd place in the Railroad League.

In an earlier report, we thought that just four teams were contending for the title. With the recent struggles by Jamaica Plain (46-26) and the resurgence of the Deathclaws, that list has climbed to at least five teams. Speaking of fives, let's look at what the Top 5 in the Power Rankings did over the past two weeks.

Roxbury remains #1, going a tied for CBO-best 8-2 in their last 10. The Rad Sox split at Quincy (#19), swept Oberland (#21), split again with the Gunners, and swept the T-51s again. With an 8-game lead in the SCA, the Sox are looking to cruise into the playoffs in their final 48 games.

The Party Boys are the #2 team with the North Charles Association's best record and a currently comfortable five-game lead in the Brotherhood League. The Boys went 7-3 in their last 10, splitting with a hot Fort Hagen (#8) that went 8-2 in their last 10, swept Easy Town (#9), got swept by the Silver Shroud, and swept The Slog (#23) by outscoring them 23-1.

At #3, we have University Point, which went 7-3 in their last 10 to take over first place in the Minutemen League. They swept FHE (#11), swept the Gunners, split at Oberland, and then won one of three at Atom (#10).

County Crossing is the #4 team, going 5-5 in their last 10. The Bloodbugs were swept at Starlight (#15), swept Salem (#20), split at Institute League leaders Sunshine Tidings (#6), and then won one of three at the Witch Hats.

Finally, struggling Jamaica Plain is #5, going 4-6 in their last 10. The Red Rockets split at Vault 81 (#13), won one of three at Spectacle Island (#22), split with Diamond City (#7), and then won one of three at home against the Reapers.

Trade Impacts: With the NWL and Vim! Leagues reaching their trade deadlines, the CBO was active in moving some fringe players around with a few CBO players going to one of the other leagues. A few other CBO teams made deals to move some bigger-name players. Let's look at some of the bigger names on the move as we move deeper into "Trade Month" with the most recent first.

SP X10-44 Mannson + RP Mike Pond - from Diamond City to Fort Hagen. The Swatters appear to be offloading some grizzled veterans as the 37-year-old (assumed by aging technology) Mannson moved to another contender. In return, Diamond City received a quartet of minor leaguers, with two decent potential pitchers in Alien Mars and Edwin Flowesome. Mars was actually part of the next two names on the list.

SP Mike Cartrette + SP Brent Hooker - from Fort Hagen to Atom. Tired of constantly being on the injured list, the Silver Shroud off-loaded Cartrette and Hooker in anticipation of making more moves at pitcher. The Cats take on the highly-talented Cartrette (who they will shut down until 2305) and a good Hooker to add to their good pitching staff. In return, the Shroud received four CBO-rated future prospects in CF Justin Barrowspirit and SP Birdman Galvan. RP George Agee was already promoted to the Shroud.

LF Jarrett Metalbox - from Easy Town to Victory (NWL). This was an interesting decision by the Assaultrons since Metalbox has been one of the best players in their franchise's history, including a career .357 batting average. However, he has struggled and was no longer an everyday player, meaning that the Trons were trying to get some talent to take his place. Apparently they see some potential that in LF Sum Downie that OSA scouts do not see. This one was a headscratcher.

C Tyler Shoemaker - from FHE to Easy Town. Unlike the above trade, this one did benefit the Assaultrons, picking up one of the league's better catchers in Shoemaker. In return, Easy Town gave up RP Jason Hadley and a really good prospect in 18-year-old Crusher Rankins, though he has struggled in his first two seasons in the GBRL.

SP John Oldsink - from Goodneighbor to Jamaica Plain. A five-time 10+ game winner, Oldsink has struggled in 2304 and will be considered a failsafe with the Red Rockets. In return, the Hancocks get a good potential catcher in Cuba Badding.

3B Ryan Morris - from University Point to Dalton (VL). Morris has been the Deathclaws starting 3B for all nine seasons of the franchise's existence. This season he was fifth on the team in home runs, but the Claws were ready to move on. To replace him, they also acquired the services on a good contact 3B in Bobb County from Spectacle Island. The Fog Crawlers of the Vim! League sent a 32-year-old relief pitcher in Chris Whorley, who probably will not play in the CBO. This was an offload trade that will benefit Dalton Farm but not the Deathclaws.

RP Little Rat Swickard - from Salem to Grand Hotel (VL). Swickard has been a reliever for the Witch Hats for all nine seasons of their existence, holding a 3.88 career ERA in 238 appearances. The Atoms of the Vim! League signed him to be their closer, in which he will probably dominate there. In return, the Hats got two interesting prospects who could earn their way to the CBO according to the OSA: RF Greeta Jendowanian and 3B Honey Harggus. Harggus was a former 2nd-round pick by Vault 81 who has a great glove for pretty much any defensive position on the field but catcher.

SP Tony Bertha - from Goodneighbor to University Point. This trade happened a month ago, but it was a big move for the 27-year-old brother of Small Bertha, owner of the Vim! League. Bertha has paid off so far, going 3-0 with a 2.70 for the Deathclaws so far. The Hancocks got three fringe players in SP, Bill Sarnacki, SP Brad Smailes, and SS Aaron Nukacola and a prospect in 2B Imperial LeBeau in return.

Trade Rumors: With just over two weeks before we hit the trade deadline, there are also a few rumors of players who may be on the move in July. Here is a list of a single player per teams looking to sell:

Abernathy 2B C.T. Woodward (.251/6/33)
Easy Town SP Good Company Schiller (3-7, 4.37)
Egret 1B Joe Mahaney (.282/12/32)
FHE SP Tristan Marble (7-7, 5.35)
Finch Farm 1B Will Ashfire (.263/19/44)
Goodneighbor SP Chet Arthur (5-7, 4.13)
Lexington SP Aaron Somer (6-4, 3.73)
Oberland SS Lernz Tentsleep (.274/16/45)
Quincy RF Baywatch Fischler (.294/3/14)
Salem RP Dan Beantown (4-3, 1 SV, 3.86)
Spectacle Island RF Matt Basile (,280/11/32)
Vault 81 SP Justin Sumbich (7-8, 4.70)
