BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 20 September 2304 CBO Playoff Play-In Series Preview NCA Playoffs - #5 Easy Town Assaultrons (66-54) vs #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (67-53) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1697937322 Season Series Fort Hagen 5, Easy Town 3 April 30-May 1 @ET: ET 5-1, FtH 5-2 June 21-22 @ FtH: ET 6-0, FtH 10-4 August 16-17 @FtH: FtH 3-2, ET 8-7 September 6-7 @ET: FtH 7-5, FtH 7-6 Analysis Fort Hagen returns to the playoffs for the eight-straight season and as the North Charles Association's defending champions after reaching the Sole Survivor Series as the 4th seed a season ago. Easy Town makes just their third trip to the playoffs, but did see their first season taking them all the way to the Sole Survivor Series in 2298. Together, these two teams have made four trips to the Sole Survivor Series without a championship. The Silver Shroud finished 5th in the NCA in runs scored (5th) despite having the 2nd-best team batting average (.282). They are powered by three heavy-hitting outfielders in Andrew Nuka (.297/31/100), Ben Pawlak (.373/26/96), and Ginger Rogers (.215/24/58). 3B Tutton Gatekeeper (.273/18/74) also lent a hand in producing runs. The big loss for the Shroud is midseason acquisition, SS Wally Warwick (.304/7/42), who will be out for this series and probably the next round, too, with a shoulder injury. Fort Hagen's pitching staff is much better in keeping the team in games, ranking 3rd in runs against (488), 3rd in Starters ERA (3.98), and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (3.43). The starters are led by dominating pitcher Derek Green (18-4, 2.61) who led the CBO in quality starts (27), innings pitched (231.1), and strikeouts (223). Their one Achilles heel has been their closer, Kevin Marsh (20 SV, 4.43), who had six blown saves and finished with 11 losses on the season to tie SP/RP Jim Livermore (9-11, 3 SV, 5.16). SP X10-44 Mannson (10-11, 4.09) has been 3-4 with a 4.78 ERA since joining the Shroud after they gave up on often-injured SP Mike Cartrette and shipped him to Atom. In the bullpen, players who can help keep runs down are John Walden (3-1, 2.63), Mike Pond (8-4, 3.10), Chris Glass House (6-2, 3.09), and former closer Matt Demented (14 SV, 2.81). For the Assaultrons, they finished second in runs scored (642) on offense. While we'll feature him in the next paragraph, too, the team revolves by the best overall player in the CBO, 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson (.348/32/101). Other top contributors in both hitting and power include 3B Dog Prairie (.264/37/94), LF Sean Samuels (.299/26/76), and C Tyler Shoemaker (.317/16/65). Other key contributors in the talented lineup include RF Dan Squirrel (.271/13/57) and CG Jig McGhee (.332/4/49). The Easy Town pitching staff finished 5th in runs against (537), Starters ERA (4.49), and Bullpen ERA (4.17). Again, everything revolves around the ace Tykeson (16-7, 3.33). SP Angel Waterdrink (3-2, 4.02) missed four months of the season but he is now healthy and able to contribute while Good Company Schiller (7-10, 4.66) can get the occasional good start but cannot be counted on in playoff ball. Mike Dawson (10-5, 4.26) moves to the bullpen for the playoffs to pitch along with Thomas Seefar (19 SV, 2.85), Aaron Geneva (6 SV, 4.19), and Jame Functionary (7-5, 3.42). Prediction Easy Town may be playing for championships in coming years, but it is hard to bet against a team as successful as the Silver Shroud over the years. We'll pick the Shroud to take it, 2 games to 0. SCA Playoffs - #5 Atom Cats (66-54) vs #4 Diamond City Swatters (69-51) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1697937322 Season Series Diamond City 5, Atom 3 April 21-22 @DC: DC 3-0, Atom 7-2 June 21-22 @Atom: Atom 15-14, DC 1-0 July 12-13 @DC: DC 6-1, DC 5-4 August 30-31 @Atom: DC 6-5, Atom 6-2 Analysis Like Fort Hagen mentioned above, Diamond City is a team always here. While they are aging and have been surpassed for Railroad League dominance by Roxbury, the Swatters are still a team that can win any series at any time. Atom has not been as successful, but the Cats are making their fourth-straight postseason appearance despite never winning the Minutemen League. The Swatters completed the season as the SCA's 5th-best scoring team (585) with the 3rd-best batting average (.273). The boys playing in the Great Green Jewel are led by a one-two punch of RF Waze Waiting (.304/29/95) and 1B Oren Gep (.286/29/82). Despite being so powerful on offense, Gep is considered to have had a down year, meaning he could explode even more in the playoffs. Other top contributors include LF Chris Van Benschoten (.293/15/69) and 2B Jim Synthseeker (.298/12/58). Diamond City will be without 3B Allen Bishop (.281/21/65) for the series, losing one valuable piece of their offense. The pitching staff finished 5th in runs allowed (522), Starters ERA (4.10), and Bullpen ERA (4.09). The top two starters, Sheng Kawolski (8-8, 2.78) and City Moore (16-4, 3.78), can help Diamond City win any game. Kawolski is a possible Vim! Pitcher Award winner despite having among the worst run support in his starts in the CBO. The third starter, Aldo Sanch (5-10, 5.15), could be a problem if they get to a third game.In the bullpen, CL Josh Samm (29 SV, 2.93) is among the CBO's best. RP Jason Worry (6-2, 2.68) also contributes. Atom finished 3rd in the SCA in runs scored (632) despite being 7th in home runs (145). However, the Cats enter the playoffs without their best offensive player, RF Melon Sanderson (.333/40/106), who will be out for the remainder of the season with a head injury. His replacement, RF Deer Quickwalker (.258/8/34) is still a talent in the CBO. Other offensive contributors include SS Jake Doucette (.302/19/77), 2B Rabbit Forest (.302/2/44), CF Earthbound Bussey (.293/15/53), and 1B Casey Roux (.236/21/82). The Cats were 4th in runs against (498), 6th in Starters ERA (4.27), and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (3.67). SP Scruffy Taguchi (14-10, 3.13), SP Deedee Martinson (10-9, 4.26), and SP Pete Pembroke (7-13, 4.09) are the playoff starters with longtime top CBO pitcher Bow Rome (9-5, 4.58) waiting in the wings. In the bullpen, Atom made an interesting decision not to carry RP Ryan Radaway (2-0, 2.87) on the playoff roster. RP Matt Rodrigue (6-2, 2.38) was the only other bullpen pitcher to hold a sub-3.00 ERA in the regular season. CL Chopsticks McWilliams (29 SV, 4.28) has struggled at times. Prediction This series feels as though it could go in any direction. The matchups favor one team in certain situations and the other team in others. It is difficult to choose Atom over Diamond City, but that is what we are going to do, citing their sudden hot streak and the third-pitcher advantage. Atom 2, Swatters 1. |

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 22 September 2304 NCA Play-in Series: #5 Sunshine Tidings vs #4 Fort Hagen Game 1 - Easy Town 11 at Fort Hagen 10 Silver Shroud Hammered by Squirrel, Drop Game 1 to Assaultrons Easy Town right fielder Dan Squirrel rose to the occasion at Hubris Comics Park, leading the Assaultrons to a Game 1 victory over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. Squirrel was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 as the Assaultrons won, 11-10, to seize a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 Play-in Series. The Assaultrons took the lead for good in the top of the 6th right after the Shroud had a four-run 5th to take the lead, 8-6. Facing reliever Radscorpion Johnson, Sean Samuels of Easy Town led off with a double. Following a Squirrel fly out, Lannie Tykeson singled to put runners at the corners with one out. Dog Prairie then hit a first-pitch, three-run homer for the 9-8 lead. "If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Easy Town manager Tim Haysneedle. Neither starting pitcher was impressive in the shootout. Assaultrons starter Good Company Schiller was shellacked for eight earned runs on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout in 4.0 innings in the no-decision. Fort Hagen's Matt Hope allowed five earned runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings. Johnson was the losing pitcher. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen. Game 2: Easy Town 6 at Fort Hagen 2 Assaultrons Cruise to Association Semifinal with Sweep The Easy Town Assaultrons are on to the Association Semifinal after a convincing series win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. Easy Town wrapped up the series sweep with a 6-2 win in the last game, to take the series 2-0. Star player Lannie Tykeson pitched and batted the Assaultrons to victory. He pitched 7.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts to earn the victory. Aaron Geneva pitched the final 1.2 innings. Tykeson was also 2 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. "We expected to win and we executed the way we needed to," said Dan Squirrel, who was named series MVP. For the series, Squirrel hit .545 with a .545 on-base percentage. He had a home run, drove in 2 RBI, and scored 4 runs. Questions surrounding the decision to pitch ace Derek Green in the regular season closer instead of saving him to pitch Game 1 cropped up for Fort Hagen. Green was set to start Game 3, which now will not be. "This is all on me," Silver Shroud manager Belch Melcher said. "I mismanaged the pitching rotation at the end of the season. It's my fault." Starters Matt Hope and X10-44 Mannson combined to allow nine earned runs on 16 hits in just 7.1 innings pitched in the two games. The Easy Town Assaultrons will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1697982053 SCA Play-In Series: #5 Atom vs #4 Diamond City Game 1: Atom 4 at Diamond City 1 Road Win Lifts Atom to 1-0 Lead in PiS The Atom Cats powered past the hometown Diamond City Swatters, 4-1, in the opener of the Play-in Series at The Great Green Jewel today. Atom starting pitcher Deedee Martinson threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball, to lead the charge. The Cats now lead the series 1-0. Atom used the timely hitting of Earthbound Bussey to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cats on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count. "Things broke our way today and that's great," Cats manager Fourth Wall said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet." Diamond City starter Sheng Kawolski, who has among the worst run support in the CBO, suffered the loss. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings. He left the game without the Swatters having scored a run. Kawaolski also had Diamond City's only extra-base hit at the time of being replaced by Crater Landlubber as a pinch hitter in the 7th. Witcher Craft ended up with an RBI double later in the 7th. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel in Boston. Game 2: Atom 6 at Diamond City 4 Atom Sweeps into the Association Semifinal The Diamond City Swatters were simply overmatched by the Atom Cats in the Play-in Series. The end result was a sweep, as Atom has cruised to the Association Semifinal, with the final win coming at The Great Green Jewel by a score of 6-4. Trailing 4-2 entering the top of the 6th, the Cats finally got to Diamond City starter City Moore. Deer Quickwalker led off with a double, followed by an RBI double by Jeremy Schoolboy. Wth two outs, Peter Tatoeater hit a two-run home run to put Atom up for good, 5-4. "We're clicking and running on all cylinders at the moment," said Garrett Machine, who was named MVP of the Play-in Series. "We're a dangerous team when we play like this." For the series, Machine hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had a home run, drove in 1 RBI, and scored 2 runs. Scruffy Taguchi did not have his best game but still earned the win. In 5.0 innings, he allowed four earned runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Both Chris Van Benschoten and Oren Gep took him deep. The Atom Cats will play against the Roxbury Rad Sox in the next round. Roxbury had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1697982053 |
Two of our favorites down fast... I guess sometimes you gotta just peel the bandaid and get it over with.
|
How have I never noticed the name "Earthbound Bussey" hahaha. Might be my new favorite player, and he looks to be a good one!
A little disappointed to see two sweeps, but at least it is just for the play in |

Fort Hagen is in a similar but better position with two of its starters: Matt Hope (36) and X10-44 Mannson (37 simulated). They traded for Mannson hoping to give them a postseason boost, but both Mannson and Hope were shellacked in the playoffs. Neither team has anything in their minors that can play for them anytime soon, so they will each have to dangle someone to stay relevant. We already know, though, that Moe Cronin is not keen on trading away his favorites, so we'll see. |

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 September 2304 CBO NCA Semifinals Preview https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698494959 NCA Playoffs - #5 Easy Town Assaultrons (66-54) vs #1 County Crossing Bloodbugs (86-34) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698494959 Season Series County Crossing 8, Easy Town 4 June 10-12 @ET: ET 10-9, ET 3-2, ET 6-5 June 17-19 @CC: ET 9-8, CC 6-2, CC 8-1 August 5-7 @ET: CC 4-3, CC 6-5, CC 7-4 August 12-14 @CC: CC 7-1, CC 6-5, CC 6-5 Analysis County Crossing is now entering its fourth-straight playoff appearance and its second-straight run as the #1 seed. In their three previous appearances, they only won one series, their first in 2301 as the #3 seed. Last season, the Bloodbugs ended up falling in this round to #4 seed Fort Hagen, which went on to the Sole Survivor Series. Easy Town is trying to repeat what Fort Hagen did last season, attempting to knock down the #1 seed, though this year's version of the Bugs looks to be much more powerful and hot at the right time. The season series was a tale of three thirds. In the 12-game season series, the Assaultrons were the winners of the first four, while the Bloodbugs took the next eight, including all six in August when they last met. In other words, all the pressure falls on Easy Town to find their way to win. Their saving grace may be that they lost four of those eight games by only a run. For County Crossing, they finished first in the North Charles Association in every category but stolen bases (5th at 37). However, stolen bases matter little when your team is first in runs scored (715), batting average (.292), OBP (.376), and home runs (tied for 1st at 172). There are five legit power hitters on the team: RF Babs Rooth (.344/48/115), SS Cy Thompson (.255/26/98), CF Long Hall (.290/26/77), 3B Taygun Topaloglu (.333/21/80), and LF Kurt Kilgore (.319/19/82). They also have one of the best leadoff hitters in 2B Ajani Peacock (.322/7/50/24 SB), though he is not playing his natural position at 1B. That may change in the playoffs, though, with acquired 1B Zeldolph Violet (.340/23/84, .386/10/36 in 42 games with the Bugs) out with an injury. For pitching, the Bloodbugs are also first in the NCA in multiple categories: runs allowed (428), FIP (3.54), Pitching WAR (27.4), and strikeouts (848). The Starters ERA is 2nd (3.43) and the Bullpen ERA is 3rd (3.62). For the starters, all four starters finished with at least 15 wins on the season. The top three in the playoffs will be Whip Lashley (18-7, 2.97), Gavin Eviritts (18-7, 3.70), and Urm Rehfeldt (15-6, 3.71) with Terrence Artman (16-6, 3.43) moving into the bullpen. Jesse Bibeault (36 SV, 2,72) with a great setup man in Drama Miller (5-1, 2.55). Prediction There is no doubt that County Crossing is one of the two best teams in the CBO alongside the defending champions, Roxbury. Based on the series with Easy Town, it appears that the Bloodbugs have every advantage. Still, the Bugs need to show that they are ready to win in the playoffs. We are taking County Crossing to win the five-game series, but we think that the Assaultrons will sneak in a win, maybe two. County Crossing 3, Easy Town 1. NCA Playoffs - #3 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (81-39) vs #2 Sunshine Tidings Chemists (71-49) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698494959 Season Series Nordhagen Beach 5, Sunshine Tidings 3 April 21-22 @ST: ST 3-2, ST 4-1 May 10-11 @NB: NB 9-5, NB 6-3 August 30-31 @NB: NB 6-5, ST 7-6 September 6-7 @ST: NB 7-1, NB 12-2 Analysis Nordhagen Beach has been a perennial playoff competitor, while Sunshine Tidings is making just its second playoff appearance ever. On paper, this series appears to be a one-sided affair, and that may turn out to be the reality, too. For the Party Boys, they are making their eight-straight playoff appearance, including all seven years of the aligned CBO. Their streak of five-straight Brotherhood League titles ended last season, and the Boys enter the playoffs for the second-straight season as the #3 seed. Last season, they did not respond as well, falling in five games to Concord. On offense, the Boys finished 3rd in runs scored (632) and 3rd in home runs (170). That is all fine and good, but their best offensive player, RF Jonathan Angelou (.310/36/106) is out for the remainder of the 2304 season. Still, there are good producers, led by LF Michael Fogcrawler (.288/40/95). Other contributors include CF Maxx Murtagh (.301/24/80), 2B Jumper Hayes (.340/15/64), and 1B Dustin Mart (.257/15/48). The pitching is much better, though there is a paradox of statistics with Nordhagen Beach finishing second in runs allowed (434) while having the best Starters ERA (3.30) and Bullpen ERA (3.41). Defensively, though, they were 5th in errors (43). The three starters are good: Beachboy Nut (18-7), Ugio Church (19-4, 2.75), and Tommy Beach (16-9, 3.95). Lawdog Whipple (10-8, 4.45) moves to the bullpen to join David "AntAgonist" Kidd (37 SV, 2.97), Ted Iam (3-1, 2.35), and Matt Ranger (5-1, 3.71). The Chemists made their first playoff appearance in 2303 despite finishing with a .492 winning percentage (59-61). As was predicted, they then fell in the Play-in Series to Fort Hagen. This year, they come in with their first Institute League championship, edging out the Silver Shroud by four games. Sunshine Tidings is 4th in runs scored (621) on offense, though they tied County Crossing for first in home runs (171). Unfortunately, they are down one of their big boppers, RF Baktu DaWell (.326/22/62). They do have CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (.298/45/121) to lead their offense, along with 1B Bryan Assman (.300/22/60), SS Lernz Tentsleep (.276/27/81), and C Red Sone (.292/17/77). The pitching is not as good, finishing 6th in runs allowed (556), 6th in Starters ERA (4.56), and 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.44). None of their starters had a sub-4.00 ERA, with Mike Rubric (10-11, 4.30), Brian Bridges (13-4, 4.06), and Joey Dimes (12-11, 5.30) getting the playoff starts. In the bullpen, closer Cush Baker (38 SV, 1.56) was a standout and SP Danny Haines (14-6, 4.55) should help out. Prediction It is unfortunate that each team is missing one of its best players. Based on those losses, we expect the Party Boys pitching to dominate in this game and pick them to get the sweep. Nordhagen Beach 3, Sunshine Tidings 0. |
You know, how exactly did the Bloodbugs get good? I spent so much time, up until this point, whining about insects, that any prowess on their part actually went overlooked other than the fact they were becoming more present haha.

Their front office personnel looks to be among the CBO's best. GM Kyle Wolf has an excellent reputation, MGR Crow Guai is decent, BC Adam Fields and PC Killer Kevin Cortes are good, and HC Toby Slocumsjoe is excellent. Scout Jim Peil is decent and team doctor Dr. Jix Thompson is good. Their 3BC is Sprole Races, former manager of Lexington from 2297-2301. I'll give some information on their current overall ratings in parentheses. From 2296-2300, they finished either 5th (once) or 6th (four times), so they were always drafting high. In 2296, they drafted C Biter Trout with the 4th overall pick. In 2297, they drafted SP Dobbie Radoncis with the 5th overall pick. In 2298, they drafted 1B Ajani Peacock with the 3rd overall pick. In 2299, they drafted CF Sharkey Lurkfodder with the 2nd overall pick. In 2300, they drafted RF Danny Faraday with the 6th overall pick. Trout (80) was traded straight up to Starlight for 1B Zeldolph Violet (80). Radoncis (54) was traded in 2300 to Warwick (now Spectacle Island) in a trade that generated SP Whip Lashley (2297 3rd round pick), CL Rob O'Cop (2299 2nd round pick), and LF Delmarva Illeracula (2299 1st round pick). None of those guys were in the CBO at that time. This season, they traded away several players in July along with Illeracula to attain LF Kurt Kilgore (70) from Finch Farm. Lurkfodder (69) is perhaps their worst trade since he really only generated RP Mike Koenig (52) in a trade with Sunshine Tidings. Lurkfodder now plays for Oberland. In 2303, they traded away Faraday in a July trade that got them SP Terrence Artman (57) and RP Relay Meachem (51) from Salem. Current Starters by Position: C - Darth Horse (57) - Acquired in 2303 in a trade with Sunshine Tidings with 2B Tut Campbell (48) being the only decent player of the four they sent. 1B - Violet (inj.) 2B - Peacock (58) 3B - Taygun Topaloglu (71) - Was drafted in the 22nd round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft by Finch Farm. Was traded to the Bugs in 2297 along with two other prospects, one of whom is CL Jesse Bibeault (67), for SP Blaine Phrasemaker, who went 6-5 in 2296 and started 3-4 in 2297. SS - Cy Thompson (76) - Was drafted 6th overall by Egret in 2298. Was traded in 2299 to Sunshine Tidings for a deal that landed the Ninjas SP Tony Bertha and LF Bat Savelli. Was traded to the Bloodbugs in 2301 for three players, including SP Rob O'Cop (60 for FHE now). LF - Kilgore (70) CF - Long Hall (61) - Drafted by Jamaica Plain in the 16th round of the inaugural draft. Was traded to CC in 2299 along with a prospect for RP Little Jemmy Madison who ended up being traded again and then retiring in 2301. RF - Babs Rooth (80) - Drafted by Concord 6th overall in the 2297 draft. Was traded to the Bugs in 2300 along with a prospect for four players, including CL Chopstick Williams (61 now with Atom), RP Old Buck Buchanan (52 now with Oberland), LF Mushy Levy (42), and CL Freedom Williams (68 now with University Point). Pitchers: SP - Lashley (62) SP - Gavin Eviritts (63) - Undrafted (due to not registering on time) in the 2296 Inaugural Draft. Was traded to County Crossing in 2296 to Abernathy for RP T-Bone Heagy (68 now with Jamaica Plain) and 2B Shotgun McElveen (42 now with Spectacle Island) SP - Artman (57) SP - Urm Rehfeldt (53) - Undrafted in the 2296 Rookie Draft. Signed with the Bugs in early 2297. Looks to have had a ratings boost in 2302 (game-generated). The Bugs also have a few interesting veterans on the bench, including 38-year-old 3B Stoop Bugwing, former star with The Slog from 2296-2300, and another early contributor to the Ghouls, LF OK Dustin. They also have their 2296 Inaugural Draft's 10th-round pick, 2B Joel Carrotflower riding the pine. Carrotflower was their all-time leader in starts and games played, but was surpassed by both Topaloglu and Trout this season. |

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 September 2304 CBO SCA Semifinals Preview SCA Playoffs - #5 Atom Cats (66-54) vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox (91-29) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698542112 Season Series Roxbury 7, Atom 1 May 17-18 @Rox: Rox 5-4, Rox 4-3 May 24-25 @Atom: Rox 4-0, Rox 6-3 June 7-8 @Atom: Rox 2-0, Atom 5-3 August 23-24 @Rox: Rox 10-6, Rox 6-4 Analysis Roxbury was a loser franchise in their first six seasons, finishing in 6th place in the Railroad League five of those six years and never sniffing the playoffs. That all changed as they built up their franchise, made key trades, and transformed themselves from losers to a powerhouse in 2302. While they quickly exited the playoffs that season, losing to the second-seed Jamaica Plain Red Rockets as the #3 seed, they knew they had something special brewing. Then, in 2303, the Rad Sox boosted themselves to top of the South Charles Association and went on to win it all. This season, they look even better. For the Atom Cats, they are making their fourth-straight playoff appearance, trying to exceed their 2301 performance where they made their playoff debut and went on to the Sole Survivor Series where they were dismantled by Nordhagen Beach. However, the Cats will have a tough task, having lost seven of eight season matchups against Roxbury in 2304. For Roxbury, they are good on offense. finishing 2nd in runs scored (635) and leading the SCA in batting average (.290), OBP (.365), and WAR (31.3). This is one of those teams that bats eight players that can hurt a team, led by a strong middle of the lineup in LF Young Goodman (.334/33/90), 3B Donn Mattingley (.324/20/79), and 1B Duncan MacCready (.295/14/61). Leadoff hitter RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.307/11/57/26 SB) is among the CBO's best at the top of the order. Where the Rad Sox offense is powerful, the pitching and defense is dominant. The Sox allowed the least number of runs (353), had the second-best Starters ERA (2.87), and had the best Bullpen ERA (2.63). Other than their ace missing some time due to injury, all four starters would have won at least 15 games apiece. That ace, Nuke Laloosh (14-5, 2.49), came back from his injury even better than he was before. Behind Laloosh is Eugene Gym (16-6, 2.74), College Luckyman (15-6, 2.70) and Whokill Poole (18-4, 3.20). All four could be aces of many other CBO teams. In the bullpen, four guys can get the job done on any opportunity: CL Andy Helium (36 SV, 2.67), John Irwin (5-1, 2.40), Michael Thawt (5-0, 1.00), and Justin Hale (4-2, 2.54). Prediction Atom may find a way to steal a game, but we do not think they will. Roxbury 3, Atom 0. SCA Playoffs - #3 University Point Deathclaws (77-43) vs #2 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (80-40) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698542112 Season Series Jamaica Plain 6, University Point 6 May 6-8 @UP: UP 6-5, JP 4-0, UP 7-1 May 20-22 @JP: UP 4-2, JP 3-1, JP 4-3 July 29-31 @JP: UP 4-1, UP 8-3, JP 7-1 September 9-11 @UP: JP 6-5, JP 5-4, UP 7-3 Analysis Of all the matchups worth watching in the Association Semifinal Round, this is the one most worth watching. These two teams are bitter rivals, battled to a season series tie in the regular season, and really want to win this series for Minutemen League pride. For the University Point Deathclaws, they enter the series disappointed in their end to the 2304 regular season. On 5 September, the Claws led by three games over the Red Rockets. By 14 September, they trailed by a game. By the time the season ended on 18 September, they finished behind by three games. University Point was just 4-9 in September, which could spell trouble for them entering the playoffs. Offense has not been the problem. The Claws finished tops in runs scored (659), OPS (.841), wOBA (.361), and home runs (196). They had four players finishing with 29 or more home runs, including trade acquisition CF Aesed Hayjen (.309/31/64), and the middle of their lineup: 1B Barker Cocoa (.353/39/118), RF Tomas Jones (.327/38/`20), and SS Austin Engill (.251/29/67). The pitching is good, too, if you ignore both Jamaica Plain and Roxbury. The Deathclaws were 3rd in runs allowed (474), 3rd in Starters ERA (3.70), and 6th in Bullpen ERA (4.12). The three playoff starters are worthy: Phlip Wallace (18-5, 2.63), Tony Bertha (16-5, 2.93), and Wilson Beachball (12-4, 4.32). In the bullpen, they have three guys they rely on: CL Freedom Williams (32 SV, 2.98), RP Chase Southie (6-4, 3.50), and RP Marc Pondsip (4-0, 2.39). Where University Point went cold in September, the Rockets took off. Jamaica Plain went 10-3 in September, leading to their best month for winning percentage (.769). In fact, the Red Rockets were consistent throughout the season, and that can be attributed to a good balance and health in 2304, making this season their most potent after a three-year playoff stretch followed by missing out in 2303. In 2302, the #2 Rockets fell to #4 University Point in the SCA final. On offense, Jamaica Plain had its share of struggles, finishing middle of the pack in almost every offensive category, including runs scored (6th at 557). Their .261 team batting average (6th) included no players batting above .300 in 2304, something they may need to address in a CBO where hitting matters. On the bright side, their entire lineup batted above .240. The Rockets' top three all-around hitters are LF Damani Beebe (.296/26/89), CF Hid Matsumoto (.258/24/61), and 1B Carney Cornseed (.241/21/61). Where the offense struggles, the pitching keeps the Red Rockets in every game. Jamaica Plain was 2nd in runs allowed (373), 1st in Starters ERA (2.66), and 4th in Bullpen ERA (3.70). All four starters were dominant for the Rockets: Digger Vadim (17-2, 2.25), Chris Teddybear (17-7, 2.80), Chris Deathclaw (11-7, 2.47), and Tim Fusion (19-5, 3.16). Fusion will move to the bullpen for the playoffs to join CL Doug Dee El (35 SV, 2.25), T-Bone Heagy (5-5, 3.32), and Matt Breakball (0-0, 2.86). Prediction Do we have to? This series will be a battle, and we are wavering. In the end, we will lean on the fact that the Deathclaws have been there and won the Sole Survivor Series just two seasons ago as the #4 seed. We'll take the them to eek out a series win. University Point 3, Jamaica Plain 2. |

---------------------------------------------------------- https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1610115119 Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 25 September 2304 Dalton Farm (VL) Outduels Victory (NWL) in Season Pass Series https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1698600207 Game 1 - Road Win Lifts Victory to 1-0 Lead in SPS The Victory Cave Crickets powered past the hometown Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers, 7-5, in the opener of the Season Pass Series at Blood Tide Stadium today. Victory first baseman C.J. Abney was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the hosts. The Cave Crickets now lead the series 1-0. Victory relied on the bat of Cornelius Humperdink IV to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cave Crickets ahead, 7-1. For the game, Humperdink IV had 1 double and 1 triple in 4 at-bats. "We lost," Dalton Farm manager Spider Webb said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Monday, September 19th , 2304. Game 2 - Victory Wins Again, 2-1 Laurence Crash pitched a gem to help the Victory Cave Crickets escape with a tight 2-1 victory over the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers in a low-scoring Season Pass Series contest today. The right-handed Crash threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Cave Crickets on a day when their offense dried up. Victory now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0. Victory used the timely hitting of Jarrett Metalbox to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cave Crickets on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer. Metalbox said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together." The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 21st , 2304 at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field in Bradberton. Game 3 - Morris Blasts Cave Crickets, Fog Crawlers Take Game 3, 10-7 The Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Victory Cave Crickets, winning 10-7 at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field today. Fog Crawlers third baseman Ryan Morris went 4-6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Fog Crawlers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Season Pass Series. Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bill O'Connor? The Dalton Farm catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Fog Crawlers on top, 3-0. For the game, O'Connor had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats. "I like our mindset right now," said Dalton Farm manager Spider Webb. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field in Bradberton. Game 4 - Dalton Farm Win to Pull Even With Victory The Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers topped the Victory Cave Crickets by the score of 5-1 and moved into a 2-2 tie in the Season Pass Series today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Dalton Farm starter Kyle Hooch, who threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 runs in the win. Ramon Delgado, the three-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Delgado contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Dalton Farm up, 5-1. "The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Hooch. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field in Bradberton. Game 5 - Road Win Lifts Dalton Farm to 3-2 Lead in SPS Game 5 was big. So was Phil Cecil. The Dalton Farm starter rose to the occasion at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field today, leading the Fog Crawlers to a crucial 8-1 victory over the Victory Cave Crickets. Cecil threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball as the Fog Crawlers won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Season Pass Series. Cecil was in the zone all game. He frustrated Victory hitters while giving the Fog Crawlers 9 innings of quality work. Cecil threw 114 pitches, allowing 8 hits and getting 10 punchouts. "We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Cecil. The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 25th , 2304 at Blood Tide Stadium. Game 6 - Dalton Farm Triumphs Over Victory In Season Pass Association Series In a fairy tale year, the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers capped a perfect season with the Season Pass Association title, defeating the Victory Cave Crickets 6-2 to take the series 4-2. The Fog Crawlers manager Spider Webb said he told the club "to be your best when your best is needed, and this team took it to heart. Throughout the postseason somebody always came up with a clutch hit, a key defensive play, or a great pitch. That's what it takes to win." During the Vim! League Fog Division regular season, the Fog Crawlers posted a won-loss record of 55-35, good enough for first place in the standings. Former University Point 3B Ryan Morris, acquired by the Fog Crawlers in a midseason trade, was named the Series MVP. In six games, he was 9 for 23 with three doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored, and five RBI. |

But for now the young The Slog Ghouls star can enjoy the numbers he put up in September, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .353 average with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 12 runs scored. So far this season Gains is hitting .297 with 23 home runs. SCA Batter - Joe Rathmann may be much younger than other hitters in the South Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in September to win the Batter of the Month award. The 25-year-old FHE right fielder hit .386 with 6 home runs, 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Thus far this season in 120 games Rathmann is batting .305 with 27 home runs, 83 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has 139 hits in 456 at-bats. NCA Pitcher - Bry McBourbon took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award for September. The 23-year-old Synths starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 3-1 won-lost record in 4 starts. This month he fanned 17 batters in 29.1 innings and compiled a 0.92 ERA. So far this year McBourbon has 12 wins and 10 losses and a 3.35 ERA. SCA Pitcher - When Eugene Gym takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Roxbury victory. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 3-0 mark and a 0.26 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 34 innings, fanned 34, and held enemy hitters to a .185 average. That's why the Rad Sox star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the South Charles Association. In 29 starts this season Gym has compiled a 16-6 record and a 2.74 ERA. NCA Rookie - In September, Danny Machart was tops in his class! The Salem first-year pitcher put up some super stats and has been voted the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month. He made 2 starts, logged 15.2 innings, struck out 15 and compiled a 2.30 ERA. He finished the month with a 1-0 record and held opposing teams to a .193 batting average. To date this season Machart has compiled a 4-1 record with a 4.44 ERA in 2 starts. SCA Rookie - Youngster Diamond Ball emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Spectacle Island deserved the honor, batting .314 with 4 home runs and 8 RBI. Is the month of September a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Ball enjoy the limelight. Currently Ball is batting .318 with 40 home runs and 80 RBIs. You know it's a good mix making it through, though sometimes I think are any of the old guard truly the old guard in a league this young. Really nothing can be done about that other than give it time though.

Jamaica Plain advances! Not that I'm overly surprised, but it was the only series to not end in a sweep. I expected the Rad Sox and Bloodbugs to sweep, but I thought Sunshine Tidings would be more competitive. Hoping we get deeper series in the next round!
