In the final game, the #2 Victory Cave Crickets completed a perfect tournament, defeating the #4 Cherry Tourists, 15-13.

LF Petit Frenchman of Victory was the game's hero, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI. Other outstanding performers in the game included RFSam Noob (Victory), who went 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI; 3B Ben Couto (Cherry) who went 5 for 6 with a double, a run, and two RBI; and C Ricardo Vega (Cherry), who went 4 for 6 with a double, a run, and an RBI.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

17 April 2305

Analysis

Interassociation play is now complete for the 2305 season, and there are some huge surprises across the league in the first 12 games of the season. That means we are more than 10% through the 2305 season. There is a lot of time for things to get back in order. For now, the South Charles Association won the interassociation championship going 81- 63. First, let's look at the Top 5 of the Power Rankings and then dive into the league races heading into association play for the final 22 weeks.

The biggest surprise of the 2305 season has been the two-week dominance of the Railroad League's Egret Ninjas, our #1 team in the first Power Rankings. The Ninjas went a staggering 11-1 in the first two weeks, sweeping through the Institute League and losing only to Easy Town (#6) in the Brotherhood League matchups. Egret has won thanks to dominant pitching in the first two weeks, allowing just 28 runs in 12 games, best in the CBO. Their Starting Pitching (2.60) and Bullpen (1.12) are best, with the best FIP of 3.42. While the offense has a lot of work to do, the pitching has been amazing for a team looking to make its first appearance in the CBO playoffs. Their one time to be in the playoffs came in the 2296 season when the leagues were separated. The Ninjas lost that one series to the then Abernathy Adamantium (now Bunker Hill 75ers).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1702395925

At #2 is the Atom Cats, who also showed dominance in their 10-2 start. The Cats of the Minutemen League swept the Brotherhood League and then went 4-2 against the IL, dropping two games to Sunshine Tidings (#8) and Fort Hagen (#14).

Two-time defending champions, the Roxbury Rad Sox, are #3 after going 9-3. The Rad Sox struggled in the first week, going 3-3 against the IL with losses to the Silver Shroud to open the season and then Lexington (#22) and the Chemists. The Sox then swept the BL, including a big 10-0 win over Finch Farm (#10).

University Point is #4 at 9-3. The Deathclaws went 4-2 against the BL with losses to the Assaultrons and Four Leafs, and then they went 5-1 against the IL with their only loss being an 11-inning affair against Starlight (#12). As expected, the Claws are the top offensive team, scoring 101 runs in their first 12 and leading in four other offensive categories.

FHE rounds out the Top 5 with a complete sweep by the SCA. The Yao Guai went 4-2 against the IL with losses to the Lady Killers and Sunshine Tidings. They then went 5-1 against the BL to go 9-3 in their first 12. The one loss came at the hands of The Slog (#21) in 10 innings.

Brotherhood League

We already knew that Easy Town was supposed to contend for the playoffs. What we did not expect was that they would be 10% through the 2305 season with a 5-game edge on both County Crossing (#19) and Nordhagen Beach (#20), each at 4-8.

Really, we do not expect the Bloodbugs and Party Boys to stay down once NCA games start tomorrow, but we could see the Assaultrons turning that early edge into their first BL crown.

County Crossing is suffering partially from the early slump by RF Babs Rooth (.174/2/4). The team is batting .245 (11th in NCA) and 12th in Bullpen ERA (7.29), made in part by the late-inning struggles of RP Terry Stebbins (0-3, 25.20) and CL Jesse Bibeault (2 SV, 4.91). While the Starters ERA (3.93) is 4th, ace SP Gavin Eviritts (0-1, 6.17) has not helped.

Nordhagen Beach is also struggling on offense with only one player currently batting over .300 in 2B Jumper Hayes (.327/2/4). The Party Boys have generated most of their 50 runs on home runs (2nd) with 20. The starters on the mound have not been their usual selves, currently 5th in Starters ERA (4.02), including an 0-2, 4.29 start by ace Beachboy Nut.

Institute League

This was considered the least-talented league in the CBO in 2304, and that continues in 2305 with their only team over .500 being 7-5 Sunshine Tidings. The Chemists won the league in 2304, and they have what appears to be the best talent in a league where the 2nd place team may not be deserving of a playoff spot.

Fort Hagen (5-7) was not picked to make the playoffs, but them missing would still be a surprise. The Silver Shroud seem to be in the middle of the pack, currently tied for 7th in runs scored (52) and tied for 6th in runs allowed (61). Ace Derek Green (2-0, 0.47) has been his usually dominant self, but the rest of the starting pitchers (7th with a 4.75 ERA) have struggled.

Concord (5-7) was the pick to finish 2nd in 2305 by PAM, but they have not yet shown they can separate themselves from any of the other teams. The Radstags have not shown they can get their offense started outside of their stars in LF Dan Erb (.298/3/6) and 1B Dusty Brownell (.319/2/7).

Minutemen League

This is a league with the most obvious differences in talent with the big three of Atom-Jamaica Plain-University Point usually dominating the bottom three of Goodneighbor-Quincy-Spectacle Island. There is not reason to believe that will not also happen in 2305, with the standings indicating as such in the first two weeks.

The Rad Rockets have not been the dominant team they usually are, but that is because their offense has been the absolute worst all around in the SCA, including being currently 12th in runs scored with 34. No player is currently hitting over .300 and three players--LF Carney Cornseed (.189/0/4), RF Damani Beebe (.167/4/8), and C Ayag Mour (.158/0/0)--batting below .200. SP Digger Vadim (2-0, 1.80) has been the star player, helping the Rockets to win almost every fourth game.

Atom and University Point are both in the Top 5 for a reason, and they should stay in the playoff hunt throughout the season. Despite Goodneighbor's 5-7 start, it is safe to assume the Hancocks will be out of the running by midseason.

Railroad League

This league was the most dominant with four teams above .500 and one team at .500. Only Vault 81, dealing with injuries and suspensions, had a tough two-week stretch at 3-9. Unfortunately, that is probably already putting them too far behind to catch up.

The Rad Sox are by far the most talented team in the RL, and there is little to indicate they will not be at the top when the final ball is pitched. Surprisingly, though, the only person generating power so far is 3B Donn Mattingley (.362/5/18). SS Purple Gupta (.279/3/10) was doing well before going out with an injury. Together, Mattingley and Gupta have hit 8 of Roxbury's 9 home runs.

Power Rankings

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1702395925

Players of the Week

NCA

4/10 - Today the North Charles Association announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is County Crossing's talented right fielder Baywatch Fischler. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually a bad omen for pitchers.

For the week Fischler batted .520 (13-for-25) with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs.

4/17 - All week long Wally Warwick was the toughest out in the North Charles Association and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.

The Fort Hagen shortstop rapped out 14 hits in 25 at-bats for a .560 batting average, drove in 6 runs and scored 3 times.

SCA

4/10 - A battle-tested Melon Sanderson declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old Atom right fielder collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .500 average, 12 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

4/17 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Tomas Jones had few peers in the South Charles Association this past week.

The talented right fielder for University Point tagged opposing pitchers for a .542 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 homers, 10 runs scored and 12 RBIs.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 May 2305

The May 1 Super Post

CBO Analysis

We are one month into the 2305 season with a few of the expected better teams making their way up the standings while some other teams expected to make a playoff run fall deeper into an irradiated mudhole.

The North Charles Association has found its way into this week's Top 5 with the sole representative climbing all the way to #1. Let's break down the Top 5 and then look at the rest of the league.

Easy Town comes in as this week's #1. In the last two weeks, the Assaultrons have gone 8-2 in their last 10, including a current eight-game winning streak, the longest in the CBO. The Trons started by being swept at Bunker Hill (#17), and then they got four straight sweeps at Sunshine Tidings (#21), versus Lexington (#20), versus Starlight (#15), and versus Fort Hagen (#18).

Roxbury is #2 thanks to a South Charles Association best 8-2 in their last 10. The Rad Sox swept Goodneighbor (#22), split with Spectacle Island (#13), swept Jamaica Plain (#14), split at Atom (#3), and then swept at University Point (#5).

As mentioned above, the Cats are #3 after going 7-3 and taking a two-game lead in the Minutemen League. In their last 10, Atom split at Diamond City (#8), split at FHE (#7), swept Vault 81 (#24), split with the Sox, and swept Egret (#4).

The Ninjas fell from #1 to #4 in this week's Power Rankings but are still in great shape despite falling behind the Rad Sox by a game. That fall came thanks to a 5-5 go in their last 10. The Ninjas swept Quincy (#23), split with Goodneighbor (#22), split at the Gunners, split at the Red Rockets, and then got swept by the Cats.

University Point rounds out the Top 5 after going 6-4 in their last 10. The Deathclaws swept the Yao Guai, split at Oberland (#10), split with the Swatters, swept the Dwellers, and then got swept versus Roxbury.

Brotherhood League

The three teams expected to be at the top are now there after all three--Easy Town, County Crossing, and Nordhagen Beach--won at least eight games in their last 10. The Bloodbugs went a CBO-best 9-1 in their games against the Institute League.

The Assaultrons lead by only four games, but there have been some signs that they may not relinquish the BL in 2305. That starts with the NCA's #1 offense in six of eight categories. The Trons have scored 160 runs (7.3/game) and have a team batting average of .327! While he would be considered the overall MVP of the CBO due to being both a great hitter and pitcher, 1B Lannie Tykeson (.494/9/22) has dominated the first month of the season, earning both this week's Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors. Acquiree SP Austen Austin (5-1, 1.48) has been lights out on the mound, putting himself in the limelight as the NCA's Pitcher of the Month. Tykeson is also 4-0 with a 4.33 ERA on the mound.

The Bloodbugs and Party Boys have seemed to find their feet against the loathsome IL opponents, propping them into the second and third-best records in the NCA. As it stands, if the playoffs would start today, the Bugs would be the third seed while the Boys would be the fifth.

Both The Slog and Finch Farm at .500 also have better records than the IL's best team, but we would assume they both start to fade away once BL games begin with opponents too tough to overcome above them.

Institute League

This league is currently a mess with Starlight currently in first place with a .455 winning percentage. Records should start to even out once IL games begin this weekend.

It is hard to pinpoint what exactly is going wrong with each team. The Sunshine Tidings Chemists, currently on a 9-game losing streak, are the team we most shake our heads at. They are much better than their current record shows, but they are struggling as a team for no known reasons. Still, like every other team in the IL, a small winning streak would boost them back to where they belong.

The Lady Killers have been performing above their expectations, which is strange to state for a 1st-place team below .500. RF Nate Eiland (.395/3/6) has been outstanding to start, as has C Biter Trout (.329/1/8), CF Glenn Higginbotham (.301/5/10), and 3B Hubris McBride (.310/1/7).

Bunker Hill's 1B Matt Stickhouse (.271/4/14) won the April Player of the Month honors. The former 12th overall pick in the 2301 Rookie Draft by Easy Town, Stickhouse showed progress each year, though in 25 games at the BMU's Bunker Hill Gun Fu in 2304, he did not hit a home run. Over 2.5 seasons in the GBRL he hit 52 home runs.

Minutemen League

As expected, Atom and University Point are jostling for position, while surprisingly Jamaica Plain sits below .500, tied for third with Spectacle Island.

The Red Rockets, the 2304 ML champions, are in danger of missing the playoffs for the second time in three years. Part of their struggles is that their offense has been on a squad-wide slump. Only one player is hitting over .300, 3B Notorious Fugate (.341/0/3). LF Damani Beebe (.244/9/21) has been the sole player generating power, hitting more than half of the Rockets' home runs. C Ayag Mour has yet to break out of his month-long slump, batting .189 on the year (Spolier: he has not had a stat drop so his slump is an anomaly he should break out of).

The Cats are getting things done on the mound, allowing a CBO-low 58 runs (2.6/game). Both their starters (2nd at 2.88) and bullpen (1st at 2.33) have been outstanding, led by the efforts of SP Scruffy Taguchi (1-1, 2.12), SP Deedee Martinson (4-0, 2.67), CL Chopstick McWilliams (6 SV, 1.00), and RP Adam Forestman (4-0, 0.61).

University Point is the top offensive team, ranking 1st in offense in the SCA in six of eight categories. The four-headed monster of 1B Barker Cocoa (.405/8/21, April's Batter of the Month), RF Tomas Jones (.391/11/28), SS Austin Engill (.367/6/20), and CF Aesed Hayjen (.306/8/18) are performing as expected, with a danger of each to blast a run each time through the lineup. With a runs/game rate of 7.0, that is true of almost every inning.

Railroad League

The RL could and should be considered the best league in the CBO with five of its six teams above .500. On the other hand, Vault 81, considered to be a decent team, is 12 games below .500 at this point in the season. It is safe to state that they will sit out the 2305 playoffs.

They may not have started out hot, but they are now. Who are they? The two-time defending champions, of course, currently tied with Atom and Easy Town for the CBO's top record. The Sox are hitting below their norm, which is even scarier for one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. The top three starters have been tip-top: Nuke Laloosh (3-1, 1.69), College Luckyman (4-1, 0.75), and Whokill Poole (6-0, 1.76, April's Pitcher of the Month).

Egret may have fallen behind the Rad Sox, but the Ninjas are 4th in the SCA in runs scored (123) and 3rd in runs allowed (76). They may have holes in their team, but their players have been playing. SP Tup Mallory (3-0, 3.03) has been the ace they hoped he could be after a 10-14, 3.71 2304. Three players are also hitting above .300: SS Hopper Hayes (.314/2/8), LF Rick Pickle (.307/5/15), and 1B Joe Mahaney (.324/2/18) as the 2-3-4 hitters.

FHE's 3B Steven Capone is the Rookie of the Month in the SCA after batting .349 with 10 RBI. Capone was an undrafted free agent signing by Bunker Hill in 2300. In the offseason, the 75ers traded Capone to the Yao Guai for the rights to 1B Donny Kowalski (.286/5/16) and minor leaguer RF Glenn Stackstat. Capone was considered CBO-ready with room to ger better by FHE after he hit .310 with 17 home runs and 47 RBI for the Gun Fu in 2304.

BMU Analysis

The Nahant Shoremen (Finch Farm) and Boston Common Lead Bellies (The Slog) have each started 8-2 in the 2305 season.

Nahant currently has two players hitting over .400: 1B Heston Prynne (.405/6/12) and 2B Kirk Kluxen (.412/4/8). Pitching has not been particularly great, but top prospect Jalep Temper is 1-0 with a 5.59 ERA. SP Goody Two Shoes Robertson is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA. Kluxen is the Commonwealth Association's Hitter of the Week, while his teammate Prynne earned the Hitter of the Month award.

Van Funky of Taffington Boathouse (Roxbury) earned the Pitcher of the Month Award, going 3-0 with a 0.69 ERA in 26.0 innings with 4 walks, 21 strikeouts, and 15 hits allowed.

The Bellies have been led by the efforts of CF Justin Sauerkraut (.472/6/8), 3B Plain Morris (.265/4/8), and RF Moxie Morris (.258/5/6). SP Tiger Fanne (1-0, 3.20) and SP Ponda Baba (1-0, 2.77) have led the pitching efforts.

GBRL Analysis

Covenant (Vault 81) of the North League is a perfect 10-0 to lead their league, while the Castle Strength lead the South League at 8-2.

The Refractors have benefited from the efforts of C Uter Zorker (.429/3/11), 3B Nick Moshassuck (.351/2/11), and RF Pants Krupa (.333/2/4). Three pitchers--Josh O'Farrell (3-0, 2.22), Flirt Perez (1-0, 2.25), and John O'Brien (2-0, 3.75)--have also contributed to the dominance. O'Farrell was the Pitcher of the Month in the NL.

LF Vodka Zuskin of Clifton (Staten Island) is the April Hitter of the Week. The 18-year-old left fielder for the Clifton Vertibirds hit .333 with 7 home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Castle's middle of the lineup has been outstanding: CF Pudding Ohnderitz (.455/2/3), 2B Scott Gunderson (.333/1/10), and RF Mark Goodday (.349/3/11). On the mound, ace Phil Pearlman (1-1, 1.85) has not given up much but does need more run support. CL Matt Hoernig (4 SV, 0.00) has been money every time on the mound, earning him the SL Pitcher of the Month.

April's Hitter of the Month is SS Hotstick Reynolds of South Boston (Concord). In 10 games last month this outstanding undrafted second-year player batted .386 with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

2305 Season Preview: NWL Features Most Talent Ever

It's not often that a top player in the prime of his career is going to play in the NWL. Should he remain all season before a CBO team offers some talent and caps, 1B Chase Doctorman of the Cherry Ghoulrillas may shatter the record books.

With the help of the Railroad's PAM assaultron, the BNN has made some predictions, including for Doctorman and the Ghoulrillas to run away with the Nuka Crown in 2305. PAM predicts Doctorman to hit .428 with 38 home runs and 107 RBI in 90 games. While only the homers number would be an NWL record, Doctorman would dominate in a league that has evened out between the offense and pitching.

At 59-31, Cherry would also dominate the South Bradberton Division, winning it by 13 games over Orange, which is predicted to finish second. In the North Bradberton Division, the Quantum Nukalurks are expected to eke out a tight division race with Victory expected to finish a game back. The Cave Crickets were the 2304 NWL champions.

Victory's SP Jesse Emacipated is expected to win the pitching award, predicted to finish 11-6 with a 3.40 ERA. Sooner Coen of Orange is expected to be the ERA champion, while SP Mike Coombaya of Cherry is expected to win the most games (14).

Below are PAM's predictions and the NWL's top players.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

1 May

Vim! League's Visionary Verdict for the 2305 Voyage

Venerable viewers of the Vim! League, vigilant Vikki Vail here with the very latest on the valorous victories and vexing variables predicted for the vibrant 2305 season, via PAM's venerated prediction model!

Veering into the Fog Division, the vivacious Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers are envisioned to vindicate their voracious appetite for victories, with PAM valiantly verifying their position at the very peak. With a .633 winning percentage, they vanquish doubts and vow to be the vigorous vanguard yet again. Expect the dexterous defense and versatile offense to be their vital virtues, as runs against them are envisioned to veer downward, validating their vaunted ERA of 4.19.

Vying for valor, Echo Lake Harbormen are visualized as valiant contenders, yet vast gaps in their game may leave them vulnerable. Nonetheless, their .589 PCT is no vague validation of their value. National Park Gulpers and Eden Meadows Anglers, however, may find the upcoming season to be a vortex of vanishing hopes, with their visions of victory veiled by voluminous challenges.

Venturing over to the Harbor Division, the Grand Hotel Atoms are projected to vie vibrantly, with a .544 PCT that's verified by PAM. The Acadia Acadians and Far Harbor Ghoul Whales will be in vehement pursuit, with their standings vivified by a mere three-game breadth. The Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs, however, may need to vastly revamp to avoid the vortex of defeat, as the prediction places them vulnerably at the division's verge.

Turning to the titans of the timber, the top hitters are touted to triumph with thunderous thwacks. Ryan Morris, 3B for Dalton Farm, envisions a volcanic season, verily vying for the title of most valuable with a voracious .403 AVG. RF Alex Hopp of Acadia and C Chris Dominoes of Echo Lake also vie for venerable acclaim, visualized to validate their vices with vibrant vigor at the plate.

Lastly, the visionaries on the mound, the valiant vindicators of the Vim! League's pitching prowess, are viewed with vast enthusiasm. SP Kyle Hooch of Dalton Farm is virtually venerated as a virtuoso, with a 2.93 ERA that's vehemently viewed as vanguard. The Fog Crawlers' SP Phil Cecil also casts a vast shadow, his arm a versatile vortex on the mound.

Patrols to Ramp Up After Series of Behemoth Attacks

Two CBO players have been injured and 20 more Commonwealth citizens have been injured or killed in what seems to be coordinated attacks on the outskirts of the Commonwealth.

Diamond City's C Jason Watts was seriously injured by a behemoth's boulder thrown into Roxbury yesterday morning. The boulder crushed two other people at a nearby cafe where Watts was dining. Due to the chaos that ensued, the Swatters and Roxbury Rad Sox decided to postpone their game until August.

This morning, another CBO player was injured in an attack near Sunshine Tidings. Bunker Hill's RP Tell Thompson was seriously injured by flying shrapnel when a behemoth hurled junk from beyond the tree line. Local guards chased away the behemoth and Thompson was taken to Concord for treatment for his wounds. He is expected to be transported to Medford Medical Center either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Officials have put out an APB. Behemoth attacks have been rare in the Commonwealth for the past decade, so these attacks have taken officials by surprise. Brotherhood vertibird patrols have been requested to find and eliminate any behemoths seen near the Commonwealth.

One other baseball player, RP Gonnar Oathgiver of the Pleasant Minigunners, was reportedly injured in what was a suspected behemoth attack at night. His injuries are not as serious and he should be back on the mound later this month.

Postponing a game, an interesting plot thread. I've often thought about it as a Dynasty story telling tool, though not many lend themselves to it.

I had a run of creature attacks in my dice rolls, so I HAD to make a plot feature out of it! There must be something the super mutants need if they are getting this close to populations that can outgun them . . .

Time for Nate to turn to an old friend.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

15 May 2305

CBO Analysis

We have hit the quarter mark of the 2305 season, and the CBO has a few teams creating distance while some other teams are jostling for a late seed in the playoffs. There are still 88 games (for most teams) left to go, so we may see some changes. However, the CBO has been mostly consistent with teams succeeding based on fast starts. Here's the Top 5.

Easy Town is #1 with the CBO's best record, the longest winning streak at eight games, and tied for best in their last 10 at 9-1. The Assaultrons split at Fort Hagen (#21), swept Finch Farm (#14), swept Bunker Hill (#13), and swept The Slog (#18).

Speaking of 9-1 in their last 10, University Point is #2. The Deathclaws swept at Roxbury (#3), swept Spectacle Island (#19), swept FHE (#16), and won two of three at Quincy (#24).

The Rad Sox are #3, going 6-4 in their last 10 (5-4 in the last two weeks) to go along with a four-game winning streak. The Sox were swept by the Claws, split with Diamond City (#7) with the Sunday game postponed until August, split at the Reapers, and swept the Yao Guai at FHE.

Atom is #4 this week, going 6-4 in their last 10 to fall a game behind University Point. The Cats split with Oberland (#8), swept the Gunners, got swept by the Swatters, and won two of three at Spectacle Island.

Egret rounds out the Top 5, just half a game behind Roxbury, after a 6-4 run in their last 10. The Ninjas swept the Reapers, got swept at Vault 81 (#23), swept Goodneighbor (#22), and then won two of three over the Dwellers.

Brotherhood League

In the last two weeks, the Assaultrons have extended their BL league lead to 8 games over the Bloodbugs. Three players are hitting over or near .400. We are not sure that Easy Town is the CBO's best team, but they sure are looking like it at 26-6 (.812) in the first quarter of the season.

County Crossing is not looking anywhere near as good as they did in 2304, but they are still the North Charles Association's second-best team. The rest of the league looks as though any team could find its place.

Nordhagen Beach is the most talented of the remaining teams in the BL, but they have not looked their usual selves. For pitching, Beachboy Nut (3-3, 2.84) and Ugio Church (3-2, 3.47) have been OK but not great like usual. LF Michael Fogcrawler (.198/4/14), a career .293 hitter, has struggled finding success. In fact, the back half of the lineup has been nearly useless all season.

Institute League

This league still has an "any team can win it" feel with only one team--Starlight--above .500. Sunshine Tidings, last season's IL champions, has not been able to match its 2304 success. Concord, which was predicted to be a playoff team, and Fort Hagen, which is a perennial playoff team are tied for last place. Neither looks to have what it takes but stranger things have happened.

Focusing on the Lady Killers, it is hard to see any real strengths that indicate they are a capable playoff team. There are a few surprising players performing above expectations, including LF Chad Fretz (.348/2/11), RF Nate Eiland (.397/5/13), SP Alex Alexson (3-1, 3.70), and SP Sam Molina (2-1, 2.66).

Minutemen League

The big three of the ML are in total control just 32 games into the season, with both University Point and Atom controlling the pace as they jostle for 1st. Jamaica Plain had a slow start but have now distanced themselves from the rest of the league with a seven-game advantage over Spectacle Island.

Quincy surprisingly fired its manager Howie Doing on May 9 in favor of former Vault 81 manager Jason Personhood, who was unceremoniously fired following the 2303 season despite going 65-55. The Gunners have some talent gaps but do have a few talented players to build on. Unfortunately for them, their pitching, which is considered decent has seen its starters struggle, including Chet Arthur (2-3, 6.34) and Matt Udder (1-4, 5.95).

Railroad League

Egret has continued to be a surprise team after two straight last-place finishes. The Ninjas have never sniffed the playoffs in the CBO with their only playoff appearance being with the independent RL in 2296. It is tough to imagine that they will remain in the playoff race with such a talented league, especially after losing 4 of 6 against Vault 81 in the last two weekends. Still, they have been hitting and pitching well in 32 games, so staying on that pace would keep them heavily in the race all season.

Roxbury has reestablished itself atop the RL and will probably end up pulling away for the South Charles Association's top record. Surprisingly, they are there all with pitching since the offense has been struggling. They are tied for 8th in runs scored (142), 9th in batting average (.247), and 10th in home runs (23). RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.230/4/12), LF Young Goodman (.265/3/15), and SS Purple Gupta (.264/3/10) are all underperforming, which could change and mean the Rad Sox could start winning above a .710 clip. That would be scary for the rest of the CBO.

CBO Players of the Week

NCA

May 8 - The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Sean Samuels of Easy Town last week. The left fielder had quite a 5-game stretch and today he was named the North Charles Association Player of the Week.

Samuels delivered 12 hits in 20 at-bats to hit .600 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs.

Currently Samuels is batting .386 with 44 hits and 7 home runs. He has knocked in 24 runs and scored 34 times.

May 15 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Delmarva Illeracula, the Finch Farm Four Leafs 25-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 11 hits in 20 at-bats, compiling a .550 average with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.

For the season Illeracula is batting .336 with 42 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 18 times and batted in 21.

SCA

May 8 - All week long Racky Westheim was the toughest out in the South Charles Association and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.

The Oberland catcher rapped out 10 hits in 18 at-bats for a .556 batting average, drove in 6 runs and scored 5 times.

Westheim is batting .365 this season in 25 games with 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 96 at-bats.

May 15 - Pitcher Mat Nielsen of the Egret Ninjas was on top of his game last week and was chosen the South Charles Association Player of the Week.

Nielsen notched a 2-0 mark with 5 strikeouts, 3 walks in 15.1 innings, and a 0.00 ERA.

Currently Nielsen has a 5-2 won-lost record in 8 starts with a 2.94 ERA. He also has 23 strikeouts in 52 innings.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

29 May 2305

CBO Analysis

From 1/4 of the way through the season to 1/3 of the way, we have some teams now making their moves toward a playoff push while a few other teams are starting to look like pretenders. Let's take a look at the Top 5 before we look around the leagues.

Two-time defending champions, and now on a 14-game winning streak to take firm control at #1, we have the Roxbury Rad Sox. The Sox swept Quincy (#24), Egret (#9), the Gunners again, and Oberland (#12).

Holding the CBO's best record this week by a 1/2 game, we have the University Point Deathclaws at #2. The Claws went 9-1 in their last 10 games, sweeping the Ninjas, winning two of three over Goodneighbor (#21), swept Egret again, and the swept Atom (#3) at Atom in a series where the Deathclaws came in only one game up. They now lead the Minutemen League by 4.

As mentioned above, the Cats are #3, going 6-4 in the last two weeks. Atom swept Vault 81 (#20), won two of three at Quincy, swept FHE (#17), and then got swept by the Deathclaws.

Making a huge leap up this week at #4 is the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys after a 9-1 run. The Boys split at Bunker Hill (#19), and then began their current eight-game winning streak with sweeps over Finch Farm (#23), Lexington (#13), and the Four Leafs again.

The CBO's second-hottest team with a 10-game winning streak is Sunshine Tidings at #5 this week. The Chemists swept at County Crossing (#11), at the 75ers, Finch Farm, and Fort Hagen (#18).

Brotherhood League

Easy Town went winless this past week, and the Party Boys won them all. That means that the largest league lead in the CBO is no more, as the Assaultrons only lead the hot Boys by five games. On the opposite side, the Four Leafs are the CBO's coldest team, currently on an 11-game losing streak.

In the past two weeks, two teams went 10-0 and three teams went 9-1 in the CBO. Four of those teams are represented in the Top 5 of the Power Rankings. The third team to go 9-1? Salem. The Witch Hats swept two league series, including one over the Assaultrons to make their move into the playoff race, currently holding a tiebreaker for third place over County Crossing.

Salem is another team that may be a pretender since their talent at most positions is lacking when compared to the team they are tied with currently. Still, they have to be happy with the production of their top two pitchers in Major Tom Brennan (4-4, 3.81) and Aimer Doghair (5-2, 3.42), as well as hitters Josh Noob (.311/6/19), Chris Treestump (.256/11/30), and Swift Hendrix (.287/6/15).

Institute League

Sunshine Tidings appeared to be a struggling team, but no one expected them to reel off 10 straight to take command of the IL. Starlight struggled in the past two weeks, going 4-6, allowing the Chemists to take a three-game lead in the league. Concord had an undefeated week to carry a five-game winning streak before a tough two-week stretch of hosting Nordhagen Beach and Fort Hagen before traveling to Easy Town and Sunshine Tidings.

The Chemists suddenly look like a true contender despite their slow start in April. They are 2nd in the North Charles Association in runs scored (219) and 1st in runs allowed (152). Their only starting pitcher that has yet to find his groove is their major acquisition in the offseason, Eugene Gym (4-3, 4.37). Their other three starters--Mike Rubric (7-3, 2.80), Terrence Artman (4-4, 3.69), and Brian Bridges (5-2, 2.91)--have been really good.

Speaking of Rubric, he had the CBO's first no-hitter of the season two days ago against the Silver Shroud. It is just the 7th no-hitter in the 8 year-history of the CBO and just the 8th overall. Four of those 8 have been performed by an IL pitcher, and Fort Hagen now has two against them, one short of Lexington (3). The Chemists have now thrown three no-hitters, the most in the CBO. Tim Fusion did it in 2296, Curt Redcoats did it in 2302, and now Rubric this season. The other IL pitcher to pitch a no-hitter was Mike Cartrette of the Shroud in 2299.

The number of runs scored for the Chemists can be heavily attributed to the number of home runs they have hit with five players having nine or more home runs, with SS Lernz Tentsleep (.257/12/33) and rookie 3B Sun Crockett (.258/10/24) leading the way.

Minutemen League

The league seems to be the most predictable the rest of the way. With University Point's sweep over the Atom Cats, there is some distance between each place in the league with the predictable largest distance (8 games) being between 3rd and 4th in Jamaica Plain and Spectacle Island. Goodneighbor and Quincy could battle for 5th place, but the Gunners will have to find their footing with a new manager. Both teams will be trading off players for prospects by mid-June.

The Red Rockets have snuck into a playoff slot despite never looking "good" this season. In fact, they were 6-4 in the past two weeks, taking over the current 5th playoff spot more so because of Oberland (5-game losing streak), Diamond City (4-6 in their last 10), and FHE (2-8 in their last 10) struggling. What IS surprising the most for the Rockets is that their offense is outperforming their pitching despite having what is considered to be the CBO's best starting pitching squad.

Jamaica Plain is 3rd in the South Charles Association in runs scored (217) while 6th in runs allowed (192). Their dominant starters have been anything but, currently 5th in Starters ERA (3.75). While Digger Vadim (4-3, 2.63) has a good ERA, he does not appear to be on his way to repeating the Vim! Pitcher Award this season. Chris Deathclaw (4-4, 4.76) and Tim Fusion (3-2, 4.58) need the offense to produce to win so far.

Focusing more on the Rockets, the offense has made a turnaround. For example, C Ayag Mour (.275/5/16) had a miserable start to the season but has turned things around to be a producer. Half of the team's home runs have come from the 3-4 spots in LF Carney Cornseed (.262/10/31) and RF Damani Beebe (.289/14/41).

Railroad League

We know what Roxbury brings, but let's take a look at #s 2-4 in the RL in Egret, Oberland, and Diamond City. The easy prediction is that the Swatters will establish themselves as the 2nd-place team while the Ninjas and T-51s will try to battle for the 5th playoff spot. However, that prediction may not be as easy as we feel it may be. The question is: who shows life?

Looking at Diamond City's starting pitching, there is a good squad of one: Sheng Kawolski (6-1, 2.83). The Swatters may be in the running for acquiring starting pitching from a struggling team since they do have some good prospects to offer. The question may be if that is a good decision since they would be jostling for a trip to the playoffs but not a true contender to win the Sole Survivor Series.

The Swatters' offense has been good, though, currently 2nd in the SCA in runs scored (227) to go along with their exceptional power to be 2nd in home runs (65). Two run producers have been 1B Oren Gep (.238/13/27) and LF Chris Van Benschoten (.322/10/26). Witcher Craft (.374/1/16) has also given the Swatters a consistent base runner as they enter the middle of the lineup. However, Craft has the only two steals on the season for the worst base-stealing team in the CBO.

NCA

May 22 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Bob Bloodbug was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The Fort Hagen center fielder slammed them for a .556 average, 10 hits in 18 at-bats, 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 5 runs.

In the postgame press conference, Pawlak shared his hitting philosophy with the BNN scribes: "Just look for the seams and hit between them... nothin' more than that."

This season Pawlak is batting .299 with 5 home runs. He has scored 21 runs and driven in 23.

SCA

May 22 - It was a sweet day for Good Don Duck of the Oberland T-51s, who found out he has been named the South Charles Association Player of the Week.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 June 2305

The June 1 Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Sean Samuels battered North Charles Association pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Samuels told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 21 games, Samuels hit .488 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 27 runs.

In 43 games this season Samuels has compiled a .410 batting average with 73 hits and 11 home runs. He has also scored 50 times and knocked in 33 runs.

NCA Pitcher - Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Beachboy Nut of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. He captured the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in May.

Nut started 5 games, threw 39 innings, yielded 22 hits and logged a 4-0 record. He put down 30 batters on strikes, walked 8 and compiled a 0.46 ERA. Opposing teams batted .164 against him.

This year Nut has fanned 74 in 81 innings and collected a 6-3 record with a 2.00 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Sunshine Tidings's Sun Crockett collected 19 hits to snare the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month for May.

He batted .306 with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

The 21-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace. He was originally drafted by Fort Hagen in the 2nd round of the 2301 Rookie Draft.

Currently Crockett has 10 home runs and a .258 batting average.

SCA Hitter - Barker Cocoa got another reason to celebrate today as he followed up a great month of May at the plate by winning the South Charles Association Batter of the Month Award.

During the month the University Point first baseman hit .347 with 11 home runs, 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Presently Cocoa is batting .377 and has collected 19 home runs, 41 RBIs, .547 OBP and scored 49 runs.

SCA Pitcher - When College Luckyman takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in May. The outcome was usually a Roxbury victory. His fine 5-0 performance earned him the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy.

The talented Rad Sox hurler made 5 starts, worked 35.1 innings, permitted 21 base hits, and struck out 17 while putting up a 0.76 ERA.

To date this season Luckyman has compiled a 9-1 record with a 0.76 ERA in 10 starts.

SCA Rookie - Victor Desire is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that the 9th-overall pick in the 2304 Rookie Draft is putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Goodneighbor hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .253 average with 19 hits, 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.

Desire is hitting .271 in 2305 with 20 RBIs and 5 home runs.

BMU Analysis

League leaders in the Commonwealth Association are the Everett Mutant Hounds (Vault 81) at 21-8 and the Union Hope Lifegivers (Oberland) at 19-10. League leaders in the Massachusetts Association are the Trinity Plaza Snipers (Egret) and Boston Common Lead Bellies (The Slog) at 19-10 in the Downtown Boston League and the Eastlake Aquaboys (County Crossing) at 19-10 in the Glowing Sea League.

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - Fastballs, curveballs, changeups, sliders. There wasn't really anything David Stahl of the College Square couldn't hit during the month of May.

He has been named the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month on the strength of a .319 batting average, with 13 home runs, 20 RBIs, 18 runs scored and a .397 on-base percentage.

MA Hitter - Warwick Mirelurks fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May.

Ken Debate put up a remarkable month at the age of 20 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

For the month, Debate hit .465 with 15 home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

CA Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher this past month in the Commonwealth Association was Bobby Lidtke of the Union Hope Lifegivers. He really dominated league hitters, finishing May with a 4-1 won-lost mark and a 2.33 ERA.

The Lifegivers ace made 5 starts and surrendered 30 hits in 38.2 innings. He struck out 38 and walked 14.

MA Pitcher - Cobra Cobratea really put his best foot forward in May with 5 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Massachusetts Association. When he got the start for the Trinity Plaza Snipers, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 36.2 innings of work, Cobratea limited opposing batters to 24 base hits and a .182 batting average. He notched 36 strikeouts, issued 3 walks and had a 2.45 ERA.

GBRL Analysis

Division leaders are the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks (Jamaica Plain) of the Northeast Division, Covenant Refractors (Vault 81) of the Northwest Division, Castle Strength (Quincy) of the Southeast Division, and Westing Estate Gunslingers (Easy Town) of the Southwest Division.

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - Justin Nearhoof is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Sanctuary Hills third baseman joined that select company when the North League announced the results of May's voting.

Nearhoof totaled 27 hits, 11 walks, 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored last month to put together a .380 batting average and .470 on-base percentage.

SL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, Matt Attention put up some good numbers in May and earned the SL Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Castle's offensive leaders with a .370 average in 19 games. He also racked up 7 home runs, 21 RBIs, and 16 runs scored.

NL Pitcher - The North League Pitcher of the Month honor has been given to Rox Reynolds of Rocky Narrows for a superlative month.

"I actually never wanted to be a pitcher," Reynolds told reporters when asked who he credits for his pitching ability. "I was an outfielder until high school and on the third day of tryouts my coach came up and said, 'Son you couldn't hit a lick even if we put it on a tee for ya.' Well, that ticked me off, so I decided if I couldn't hit I wanted to make sure no one else could either and so here I am."

It all turned out for the best as the Rocky Narrows starter notched a 4-0 record with a 2.77 ERA last month. He made 4 starts and struck out 41 in 26 innings.

SL Pitcher - The South League presented the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to bullpen ace David Bridges of Neponset Park for his outstanding work on the mound.

During the month, the Criticals star had 6 saves in 6 save opportunities, a 0.61 ERA and 2 wins and 1 loss. In 14.2 innings Bridges struck out 16 and gave up 7 hits and 7 walks.

BYDL Analysis

In the North Region, the Beantown Sprouts, Marblehead Mess, and North Charles Bank Goonies lead their divisions. In the South Region, the Castle Freedom, Weymouth Locksmiths, and West Quincy Atomatoys all lead their divisions.

BYDL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - At only 16 years of age, Family Sam Partridge could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Boston Harbor Harborfellows, as May was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the North Region Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .374 with 13 home runs, 37 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

SR Hitter - Pockets Wrench made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Region this past month.

The Avon Lakers right fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 14-year-old hit .477 with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

NR Pitcher - Paul Stains was on cloud nine the entire month of May, capping it off with the North Region Pitcher of the Month honors.

The North Charles Bank starter was spectacular in 8 starting assignments with 7 wins and 1 loss, 70 innings pitched, 101 strikeouts and a fine 1.16 ERA.

SR Pitcher - Over the past month Clueless Gunsmith has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the South Region. He proved all that and now he's been named May's Pitcher of the Month.

The rookie for the Boston Common Baby Bellies posted 5-1 mark and a 2.66 ERA. In 8 starts he tossed 61 innings, permitted 59 hits and fanned 73 batters.

CCYL Analysis

The Eastham Rads of the North Division and the West Dennis Menaces of the South Division are the division leaders. Only division winners make the playoffs.

CCYL Players of the Month

Hitter - Arrald Frozen-Heart may be much younger than other hitters in the Cape Cod Youth League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 15-year-old Harwich first baseman hit .333 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Pitcher - When Sarthis Idren took the hill in May, he was in charge. The Harwich starter never let the Cape Cod Youth League batters get a foothold against him. For his peerless performance, he came away with an impressive 5-2 record and the Pitcher of the Month award.

The talented Fishheads hurler made 7 starts, worked 57.1 innings, permitted 40 base hits, and struck out 61 while putting up a 1.26 ERA.

PJPL Analysis

There is a four-way tie for 1st place with the 5th place team two games behind and the last place team four games back. In alphabetical order, 1st place teams are the Freeplat Wicked Goods, Pawtucket Paw Sox, West Seekonk Quahog, and Woodlawn Red Clay. The top two teams make the playoffs. Each team has 14 games remaining with the final regular season game scheduled for June 14.

PJPL Players of the Month

Hitter - West Seekonk Quahog fans believe they've got a talented young star in Hondo Ohnaka.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .292 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

The end result was the center fielder being named the Providence Junior Pro League Batter of the Month.

Pitcher - When Pokey Chatman takes the mound, a Pawtucket victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-2 mark and a 1.45 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 56 innings, fanned 50 and held opposing batters to a .204 average.

That's why the Paw Sox starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Providence Junior Pro League.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 June

Quantum, Cherry Hold May Leads

The Quantum Nukalurks and Orange Tourists are divisional leaders through the first month of the 2305 NWL season. Quantum was predicted to barely win their division, while the Tourists were expected to finish in 2nd place in theirs, 13 games behind the predicted winner, Cherry.

In the North Bradberton Division, the Nukalurks currently hold a 1.5 game lead over 2nd place Victory, with Wild and Grape trailing behind.

Currently on a six-game winning streak, the Tourists now have a 3.5 game lead over Cherry. Quartz and Dark are both in trouble of being out of the race early.

For top players of the month, we have a double award thanks to a top CBO player becoming a rookie in the NWL this season.

1B Chase Doctorman of the Ghoulrillas is both the Hitter of the Month and Rookie of the Month. Whether he will finish the season in the NWL is left to be seen since a CBO team will probably come calling with lots of caps and prospects, but we will enjoy him while we have him.

In the NWL, Doctorman is currently 3rd in Batting Average (.407), tied for 1st in home runs (8), 1st in RBI (25), tied for 6th in OBP (.430), 1st in SLG (.690), 1st in OPS (1.120), 1st in WAR (1.8), tied for 1st in AB (113), 2nd in hits (46), 1st in runs (26), 1st in TB (78), tied for 1st in SF (2), 2nd in XBH (16), 6th in ISO (.283), 1st in OPS+ (170), 1st in WPA (1.56), and 2ns in wOBA (.469).

May was a magical month for SP Jesse Emacipated of Victory. He held the Nuka World League hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 6-0 mark and a 3.54 ERA. Emacipated also chalked up 7 starts, 56 innings and 41 strikeouts. For this outstanding performance he was rewarded with the Pitcher of the Month trophy.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1702751427

APL

The Bradberton Disciples (Victory) of the North Division has taken an early 6-game lead in their division, while the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts (Dark) hold just a 1.5-game lead over the Nuka Town Operators in the South Division.

Not known for his offensive prowess, Savoy Slurp set the league afire in May and took home the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award.

The Bradberton second baseman posted a steady .432 batting average, 9 home runs, 36 RBIs and 29 runs.

Logan McDaniels was pure poison coming out of the Flying Ants bullpen in May. For his outstanding performance, he picked up the Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Grandchester Flying Ants reliever had 1 save for the month with a 3-0 record and 1.35 ERA. He made 8 relief appearances, hurled 13.1 innings, yielded 13 hits, fanned 7 and walked 3.

NWLRL

Just like the NWL, the NWL Rookie League is split into the North Bradeberton and South Bradberton divisions. While most of the teams currently have their parent teams' namesakes, two squads decided to split from the parent squad name in 2305: the Nuka Jolly Elves (Victory) and the Nuka Plant Electrics (Dark). However, neither of those teams currently leade their divisions.

The leaders in the North Bradberton Division are the Quantum B Nukalurks, while the Orange B Tourists are the leaders in the South Bradberton Division. Just like their parent clubs.

John Millertime really put on a show in May, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the NWL Rookie League!

The Orange B right fielder batted .370 with 14 home runs, 39 RBIs, 34 runs scored, along with 26 walks to compile a .493 on-base percentage.

May's best hurler was Dusty Wilcox of Grape B. He overwhelmed NWLRL hitters all month long and captured the Pitcher of the Month award as he collected a 4-0 record in 8 starts.

The 23-year-old Wilcox added 49 strikeouts in 41 innings and 20 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.51 ERA. Other clubs hit .215 against him.

BBL

There are only 11 games left in the Bradberton Boys League, but a lot can happen with every team but the Angry Anaconda Godmodes is technically still in the race. The top two teams advance to the Bradberton Boys Series.

At 18-11, the Ol' Sugartop Buckaroos are the leaders, while the Starport Nuka Hubologists, the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors, and the Wixon Shovels all trail by just one game. The King Cola Youths, Mad Mulligan Travelers, and South Bradberton Tycoons are all still in the hunt, though the Travelers and Tycoons have been cold as of late.

When Rush Clovis stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Bradberton Boys League Batter of the Month award.

The young Ol' Sugartop first baseman posted a .465 batting average with 20 home runs, 33 RBIs and scored 26 runs. Clovis also worked pitchers for 19 walks to post a .557 on-base percentage.

When the Hubologists skipper wrote Manigault on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in May he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-1 mark and 2.03 ERA in 8 starts. The gifted Hubologists star pitched 44.1 innings, fanned 36 and held opposing teams to a .205 average.

For his excellent mound work Manigault was named the BBL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

Vim! League's Visionary Verdict for the 2305 Voyage

The 2305 season is off to a rushing start after the first month of the season. Dalton Farm leads the Fog Division by 6 games and holds the Vim! League's top record, while the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales have a 5.5-game lead over Grand Hotel in the Harbor Division.

Ryan Morris has a lot going for him. The Dalton Farm third baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Vim! League has just picked him as its top hitter for May.

In 27 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .392 with 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

When Alex Ruder takes the mound, a Far Harbor victory is usually the result. That was the case in May.

That's why he was voted the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month.

Ruder throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 5-0 mark and 2.40 ERA in 7 starts. The Ghoul Whales star hurler also rung up 45 strikeouts in 60 innings.

Youngster Tom Hopsman emerged as the latest Vim! League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Acadia deserved the honor, batting .345 with 7 home runs and 16 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Hopsman enjoy the limelight.

MDIL

The Southwest Harbor Rippers (Echo Lake) lead the Small Bertha Division, and the Oceanarium Oceanics (National Park) lead the Old Longfellow Division.

For a rookie just breaking in, Marc Giddens certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the MDIL Batter of the Month award for May.

The 18-year-old third baseman for the Nucleus Radchickens hit .396 with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Isaiah Jones's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 3-1 in May, the 32-year-old Oceanarium hurler has been named Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 30 in 34 innings, logged an ERA of 2.12 and allowed opponents to hit .197 against him.

VRL

In the Western Atlantic Division, the Rock Point Barnacles (Grand Hotel) and Glowing Grove Brainiacs (National Park) are tied at the top at 15-14. In the Eastern Atlantic Division, the Fringe Cove Champions (Far Harbor) have a five-game lead.

A hot-hitting Matt Gonzalez punished VRL pitchers in May, hitting .404 in 29 games while racking up 10 home runs, 34 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

With those numbers it came as no surprise that Huntress Island's 21-year-old second baseman earned VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month honors.

The Huntress Island Ug-Qualtoths owe Dan Singleton a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in May, Singleton tore up the opposition with a fine 4-1 mark on his way to the VIM! Rookie League Pitcher of the Month award.

"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Singleton, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."

It was Singleton who did the banging in May as he tossed up 65 strikeouts in 52.2 innings, holding opponents to a .260 average and posting a 4.10 ERA.

MYL

In the Mount Desert Island Four, the Beaver Creek Bowlers hold a 4-game lead with 13 to play. The Cliff's Edge Wolves are in 2nd place.

The Echo Point Glowers lead the Great Diamond Island League by two games over the Sunset Park Anglers.

Kaydel Ko-Connix put together a good May to earn the Mount Desert Island Four Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to National Park officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Rangers left fielder posted a .312 batting average with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Armitage Hux no doubt wishes every month could be like May was for the Echo Point first baseman.

He wore out opposing pitchers to a .311 batting average and has been named the Great Diamond Island League Batter of the Month.

On the month, Hux added 7 home runs, 19 RBIs, 13 runs scored and a .398 on-base percentage.

Beaver Creek's Flatlander Flanagan hated to see May end. It was one of the single greatest months the reliever has posted, and the 15-year-old reliever did so well that he garnered enough votes for the Mount Desert Island Four Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Flanagan held the opposition to a .183 batting average in 15 relief appearances. He worked 16.1 innings, collected 11 saves, sat down 13 on strikes and posted a 2-0 record and a 1.10 ERA.

When Mandy Downcellar takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the Sunset Park Anglers. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 1.38 ERA in 7 starts. In 39 innings, he fanned 42 and walked 8. That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Great Diamond Island League.

You know, none of this is new information to me, and it's not like I didn't like the Nuka League before or anything, but I've recently come to realize just how actually plausible a theme park having a league is so it's grown on me even more. These tigthtly clustered complexes of fields seem to be becoming more and more popular (my town's even getting one that's supposed to be a big boom to our economy), I suppose it might be even more so in Fallout what with the pre-War transportation issues, albeit with the own in-universe flair.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

12 June 2305

CBO Analysis

Every team has now played more than 50 games, but the fun has just begun. The North Charles Association leagues have become interesting, while the South Charles Association leagues may be playing for wich teams will be seeded 4th and 5th in the playoffs. Still, there are nearly 70 more games to go, so do not expect today's standings to be the same in mid-September. Here's the Top 5.

University Point takes over as the #1 team, sporting the CBO's top record by a half game and going 8-2 in their past 10. The Deathclaws swept Vault 81 (#20), won two of three at Goodneighbor (#23), swept Egret (#10), and won two of three over Jamaica Plain (#8).

Roxbury is #2 after also going 8-2 in the past two weeks. The Rad Sox split at the Hancocks, swept the Ninjas, swept Atom (#3), and won two of three over the Dwellers.

The Cats come in at #3 with a 6-4 two-week stretch to push them back of the Claws by six games but still in possession of the CBO's third-best record. Atom split with Oberland, won two of three over the Red Rockets, got swept by the Sox, and then swept Goodneighbor.

Nordhagen Beach powers in at #4 after matching the Claws, Sox, and Finch Farm (#15) for a CBO-best 8-2 mark in their last 10. The Party Boys swept Concord (#19), won one of three over Salem (#12), swept Bunker Hill (#21), and got a huge sweep at Easy Town (#5) to claw back to just one game back of the Assaultrons for the top record in the NCA. We'll feature that series in the Brotherhood League section below.

As mentioned above, the Assaultrons are #5, still hanging on to the NCA's best record and 1st place in the BL despite a 4-6 stretch. Easy Town split at Starlight (#16), won two of three over County Crossing (#13), split with the Radstags, and then got swept by the Boys.

Brotherhood League

This league looked to be a bit of a bore even two weeks ago when it appeared that Easy Town had what it took to run away with the league. Now? Well, as mentioned above, the Party Boys swept Easy Town, creating a tight race at the top. Not to be outdone, Salem and County Crossing faced off for the right to 3rd place and probably the 5th seed in the playoffs with the Bloodbugs winning two in that series to climb back to just a game behind the Witch Hats. It was a fun weekend in the BL!

Looking at Nordhagen Beach, they appear to have corrected whatever was crooked earlier in the season. The Boys are now 4th in runs scored (242) in the NCA and 1st in runs allowed (179), with the top Starters ERA (3.74) and the 4th-best Bullpen ERA (3.74).

Part of that turnaround is that SPs Beachboy Nut (8-3, 1.76) and Ugio Church (5-4, 3.80) have begun to look more like themselves on the mound. Others who have been more dominant lately have been SP Lawdog Whipple (5-2, 3.47) and CL David "AntAgonist" Kidd (20 SV, 2.84). For Kidd, he is on pace to shatter CL Cush Baker's (Sunshine Tidings) saves record of 38. Offensively, only all-time great LF Michael Fogcrawler (.207/7/21) can be considered a player struggling, with RF Jonathan Angelou (.327/23/47) and 1B Dustin Mart (.354/16/36) doing what the do to help the NCA's top and CBO's second-best power team with 80 home runs on the season. University Point is #1 with 82.

The Party Boys are contenders again to win the Sole Survivor Series.

Institute League

There are ups and downs throughout this league, so we are pretty sure the current standings and the final standings may not look the same. One team that probably will maintain its spot is Sunshine Tidings at the top of the standings, despite their 5-5 stretch the past two weeks after having their 10-game win streak ended.

Two currently hit teams are the Lexington Synths and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, which own second and fourth place, respectively. Fort Hagen dismantled Starlight this past weekend to pull themselves up from the bottom of the standings and make themselves square in the battle for 2nd place in the IL.

For Lexington, the Synths are winning in ways that make us think the numbers will eventually even out to where they lose more than they win, or perhaps hover around .500 all season. They are 5th in runs scored (236) and 8th in runs allowed (245), with the 6th-best Starters ERA (4.73) and 5th-best Bullpen ERA (4.05). Ace Bry McBourbon (3-3, 3.51) is about right, and CL Ryan Kazarian (11 SV, 1.65) has been good in the bullpen. That is the extent of their good production. On offense, the middle of the lineup--RF Hurr Lee Reyes (.352/8/37), 3B Ross Merchantman (.268/12/46), and 1B Bob Bloodbug (.323/12/42)--has not been outstanding but has been productive.

Minutemen League

We mentioned two weeks ago that this may be the most predictable league for the rest of the season, and that is looking to be the case more and more as the season goes along with the following distances from 1st through sixth places between the subsequent teams: 6 games, 6, 8, 4, 4. A good week there and a bad week there may shake it up a bit, but it is likely that the top three--University Point, Atom, and Jamaica Plain--will remain in the playoff hunt, while the bottom three--Spectacle Island, Goodneighbor, and Quincy--are playing for draft position. The top will be buyers, while the bottom will be sellers.

The Reapers are an intriguing team that may opt against being sellers since they have a lot of young talent throughout their organization. Not only that, but they will get their ace, SP Quest Dawg (0-1, 5.02), back from injury soon. It does not mean they will contend in 2305, but keeping their squad together could pay dividends in future years.

Looking at what they have, these are some reasons to keep the team together. At SP, they have Dawg, their 2300 2nd-round pick, and 21-year-old Corey Ware (4-5, 4.95), a former 4th-round pick by Jamaica Plain who has developed into a talented pitcher. Two pitchers that could be expendable could be Dobbie Radoncis (3-5, 5.20) and Isaiah Swindler (6-3, 4.39).

On offense, there is current and future young talent at just about every position but catcher. Former 1st overall pick (2301), 2B Diamond Ball (.362/15/28) is already a star player after winning the 2304 Red Rocket Rookie Award with a .318/40/80 line. The Reapers have also started 2304 1st-round pick, 2B Blaine Bishop, in the CBO to train under Ball, with the expectation that Ball will eventually move to 3B. That would be SS, but 2302 1st-round pick (3rd overall), Pipewrench Mathis (.251/11/37) occupies that position as one of the best defensive shortstops in the CBO. 1B Homestay Lovetap (.267/18/45) has established himself as the everyday first-bagger. So has CF Gin Kwon (.290/3/13).

Some expendable position players could include veterans 1B Cody Flatt (.270/4/10), LF Whiskey Nightcap (.288/3/5), and RF Matt Basile (.286/15/38), though they may want to keep Basile's production.

Railroad League

This league is already a race for 2nd place. The Rad Sox now possess a 12-game lead over 2nd place Diamond City, but two other teams are right behind the Swatters in Egret and Oberland. Both the Ninjas and T-51s have made moves lately showing that they can see 2nd place as something they can achieve in 2305, not later.

Oberland has run the roller coaster of success. An early player in the CBO power rankings, the T-51s win the RL the first three years of their existence, including the first season of the full CBO in 2298. They also won the Sole Survivor Series in 2297, so they are bewildered about how they fell so hard so fast. 2305 looks to be a different success story, though, with one caveat. They need to learn how to turn base hits into runs.

The T-51s are 2nd in the SCA in batting average (.280) but 7th in runs scored (247). There are four players hitting well--CF Good Don Duck (.344/9/31), C Racky Westheim (.375/5/34), 1B Wayne Lacy (.295/9/34), and 2B Da Game (.320/4/19)--but they have no players with a double-digit number of home runs for the SCA's 7th most powerful team (54 HR). Rookie SS Stormin' Normin MacDonald (.071/0/0) has had a slow start in his first week since trading away SS Cope Kearns (.249/7/22) for talent and SP Chet Arthur (5-4, 4.98). Finding ways to score more runs will be crucial for the T-51s to start winning at a higher rate than the Swatters and Ninjas.

June 5 - Last week Dustin Mart was the toast of Nordhagen Beach and the talk of the North Charles Association -- this week he's the NCA Player of the Week.

The standout first baseman sewed up the award with his .500 average (9-for-18), 5 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs.

In the 2305 season Mart is hitting .350 with 15 home runs.

June 12 - This week's best performer in the North Charles Association was center fielder Maxx Murtagh of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys.

This year Murtagh is hitting .301 with 13 home runs and 33 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .414 clip and scored 37 runs.

SCA

June 5 - It was a fantastic week for Egret left fielder Bat Savelli and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

Last week Savelli hammered the ball at a torrid .562 pace, going 9-for-16 with 1 home run, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

This year Savelli is batting .259 with 5 home runs and 22 RBIs. In 45 games he has scored 22 times.

June 12 - This week's South Charles Association Player of the Week is Harry Byrd of the Vault 81 Dwellers.

I try to follow the other leagues more than I post about them here, especially to make sure there is no true talent shift. I was at first going to reverse Chase Doctorman being traded to the NWL, but then the trade actually seemed to make sense for Vault 81. I am still going to find a CBO home for him for a July contender.

I actually picture in my mind the NWL more than I do the Vim! League since I can see functioning amusement park rides in the background of the league. I thought about making graphics that showed that aspect, but my first attempt was so time-consuming that I dropped the idea.

Bradberton is a town of entertainment and entertainers, so baseball is just another distraction for the locals. I bet there are a lot of amusement park employees that take their breaks to take in some baseball games, too.

Yeah, there's just a part of me that's like "why would you go to a sporting event when there's an amusement park right there", but tbh I'm getting to middle age now and I understand why now... amusement parks are for younger people with more energy haha, let me sit down and watch the game ;) :D

In my younger days, I would take a yearly group trip to Houston for Astroworld (RIP to my favorite childhood theme park), but I would always skip a day to opt in for an Astros game instead. Those were the Astrodome days, long before Minute Maid Park existed.

Damn, I might be old now.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

Super Mutants Conspiring with Mirelurks?

From Commonwealth Reports - Due to an uptick in creature attacks on Commonwealth settlements, various forces are taking action to fight the nuisance. Specifically, reports have been related to what would be called behemoth and mirelurk queen attacks, though neither of those creatures have been spotted. CBO Commissioner Nate Howard is involved and has sought out one of his former companions, a human-friendly (sort of) super mutant by the name of Strong, to lead the coastal charge.

We here at BNN do not have all the information, but we will report it as it relates to the CBO. Just two days ago, there were acidic spittle attacks on an assembly of people in Salem, with one of those attacks hitting the Sunshine Tidings' outfielder B.J. Perez.

Unfortunately, though the attack seems to be those of a queen mirelurk, a gigantic creature not seen in or around the Commonwealth in about 15 years, there were no reported sightings of the creature itself. Likewise, boulders flung at passing vertibirds have not been accompanied by the usual suspects, behemoths.

Howard sought out Strong to hopefully find out more about the situation since other super mutants are not hostile to him. We will report more as we learn more.

To date, there have been six CBO players injured by projectiles in the past two months with two in the last week in the Salem area. Patrols have been increased in the areas where attacks were reported, but no creatures have yet to be found.

Below is our sole stock footage photo of Strong, supposedly taken by my sister, Piper Wright.
