Thursday, November 1, 2068 BAPTISTA EDGES MANUSH FOR IPA PLAYOFF MOST VALUABLE PLAYER HONOR Forest City has quite a few key performers in their remarkable Pro Cup run this season... it is tough to choose just one most outstanding player in the IPA Pro Cup playoffs... the 2068 IPA Pro Cup Most Valuable Player Award went to pitcher Bruno Baptista, who went unbeaten in the postseason and clinched the honor by defeating the Rolling Hills Racers twice in the Pro Cup Series... Baptista just barely outpolled his teammate Pete Manush in the balloting... they were the only two votegetters in the poll. Baptista filled two spots in the Firebirds' pitching rotation... he was a closer as well as a starter... Baptista appeared in 7 postseason games, made 3 starts and had two saves... he finished the playoffs with a 3-0 record and an excellent 2.10 ERA... as a starter Baptista beat Wynnamac 3-2 in the first round and Rolling Hills 5-2 and 6-2 in the Pro Cup Finals... Forest City was 7-1 in his appearances... Baptista started 32 games this season and wound up 15-14 with a strong 2.69 ERA... this year's IPA Pro Cup MVP is just 23 and has been with the Firebirds for three seasons... overall Baptista is 34-31 with a 3.09 ERA... he was a closer his first two seasons and chalked up 18 saves. Pete Manush also excelled... he was 4-1 in 6 starts with a terrific 1.54 ERA... Manush posted wins over Wynnamac 3-1, topped Claxton twice 4-2 and 4-1 and stopped Rolling Hills 4-1 in the Pro Cup Series opener... his only defeat came at the hands of the Racers 7-0 in game 5... but it was not as bad as the score indicated... Manush only allowed 1 earned run in the loss... during the regular season he was 18-11 with a 2.66 ERA... Manush is 30 years old and a 3-year veteran... in his career he is just 38-40 with a 3.30 ERA in 94 starts. |
Gotta tip my hat to the Firebirds. i knew it was possible. But i didn't think they'd be able to beat Rolling Hills twice at home.
|
Next I will get busy with the award winners.

Monday, November 5, 2068 IPA PRESENTS AWARDS FOR THE 2068 SEASON The Islandian Pro Alliance just concluded its 68th season with the awarding of the batting, pitching and defensive honors... 10 awards were bestowed on the top players for the season... the Ruthlandian Union and Tycobbian Union presented their Golden Bat, Golden Arm, Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Golden Glove Awards. TOP RUTHLANDIAN UNION HONORS GO TO BARTELS, MEISNER AND 2-WAY PLAYER HATFIELD Wynnamac's super outfielder Snooky Bartels nabbed his second RU Golden Bat honor by beating out his teammate Manny Sendejas and Ancona's Marcellus Dillaway... Bartels first won the Golden Bat in 2061... for the year Bartels sizzled with a .342 BA in 148 games... he piled up 206 hits, 40 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs, 107 RBIs and scored 112 runs. A sparkling 19-4 record for the year just about says it all... that's the numbers Mark Meisner of the Claxton Diamonds put up this season... his is the recipient of the Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm trophy... Meisner is on an absolutely amazing run... this is the fourth consecutive season he has copped the top pitcher award... this season the 32-year-old southpaw outpolled Zac Chandler of LaGrange and Mitch Switzer of the Fort Benton Generals. The 2068 RU Rookie of the Year is a rare breed in IPA baseball circles -- a two-way player -- not only did Tuffy Hatfield toe the rubber for the Kilkenny Cats, he also handled first-base duties as well... Hatfield was 14-12 with a fine 2.95 ERA for the cellar-dwelling Cats, but he also batted .251 with 17 homers and 62 RBIs in 110 games... Hatfield won the Golden Glove this year as a pitcher, but he also stood out at first base with a .996 FA in 79 games. Ollie Daggs, shortstop for the Eastshore Cotton Kings finished second in the top rookie voting, while Slim Korndorfer of the Rocky Rapids Snappers finished in the third spot. The all-important RU Most Valuable Player Award went again to Mark Meisner of Claxton... he bested two Wynnamac stars for the acclaimed honor... this was Meisner's first MVP trophy... he paced the Diamonds to their 6th straight RU South Division title... Golden Bat winner Snooky Bartels and Manny Sendejas finished second and third in the MVP poll... the pair led the Sundowners to the RU East pennant... that's the 3rd division crown in the last 5 years for the Macs. |

Tuesday, November 6, 2068 MACEDO, HANLON AND OSINSKI SNARE TYCOBBIAN UNION TOP AWARDS The 2068 Tycobbian Union Awards went to Gabriel Macedo of Kenwood, Caine Hanlon of South Fork and Sasha Osinski of Southport... the TU Golden Bat went to Macedo, the TU Golden Arm to Hanlon and the TU Rookie of the Year was Osinski. Gabriel Macedo was the best batter in the Tycobbian Union this year... followed by two Rolling Hills' stars Terry Stonich and Jimmy Brandini... the Kenwood outfielder picked up his second TU Golden Bat... he also won it last year... the 34-year-old veteran right fielder hit his way to the Golden Bat trophy with a .329 BA, 197 hits, 22 doubles, 2 triples and 55 homers... Macedo also scored 111 runs and drove in 139 runs... he paced the IPA in RBIs and wound up second in homers. It was a standout season for the TU Golden Arm, Caine Hanlon, a first-time honoree... his South Fork Stallions languished in 6th place, but the 28-year-old right hander still chalked up a superb 21-8 mark with an impressive 2.33 ERA in 263 innings and 32 starts... Gino Angeletti of the Red Bluff Red Sox wound up in the runner-up spot in the Golden Arm poll... and Billy Pearl of the Turon Typhoons finished in third place. The Tycobbian Rookie of the Year Sasha Osinski played an important role in the Southport Sun Sox winning the pennant in the TU South by putting some perk and punch inTO the lineup... the talented first sacker batted .296 in 135 games, racking up 155 hits, 22 homers, 80 ribbies and 72 runs scored... Denton City center fielder Emmett Harman was second in the newcomer poll and hurler Franco Sevilla of the Luxora Zorros came in third. 2068 Tycobbian Union Golden Bat Award Attachment 783442 Attachment 783443 Attachment 783444 |

Thursday, November 8, 2068 PRO CUP SKIPPERS ACCLAIMED THE BEST IN THE IPA FOR 2068 The top two managers in the Islandian Pro Alliance tangled in the 2068 Pro Cup Series... both were clear-cut winners in the Manager of the Year polls... in deserving fashion veteran Billy Christianson of Rolling Hills was honored for a record sixth time in the Tycobbian Union, while newcomer Randy Snow claimed it in the Ruthlandian Union... in an amazing rookie season Snow won everything in sight, the RU West pennant, the Pro Cup trophy and he was selected as the outstanding Tycobbian skipper. Ruthlandian Union Under Snow the Forest City Firebirds sizzled in 2068, upping their record from 61-93 to 88-66, rising up from the RU West cellar to the top spot... Snow's Firebirds went on to upset Christianson's mighty Racers in the IPA Finals four games to three. Snow beat out LaGrange's John Rodgers, Wynnamac's Jerry Meeks and Eastshore's Malcolm Tansbury for the Ruthlandian standout skipper honor... Rodgers had a fine year, moving his Gators from second place to first place in the RU North... LaGrange improved from 84-70 to 94-60... third in the best Ruthlandian manager balloting was Jerry Meeks of the Wynnamac Sundowners... the Macs climbed from third place to the top spot in the RU East with a much-improved 94-60 record... they were third the previous season with an 84-60 mark... it was also a terrific year for Tansbury as the Cotton Kings were walking tall in high cotton with a jump from the RU basement to the third spot in the RU East... Eastshore leaped from 66-88 to 80-74 this season. Tycobbian Union Rolling Hills' Billy Christianson has the tough job to get better every year... it is a very tough job to keep a team at a high level season after season, but he does it... his Racers won 100 games in 2067... they did better this season with a 101-53 record... Christianson has dominated the Tycobbian Union, winning his fourth best manager trophy in the last five years. Four managers stood out in the competition this year in the Tycobbian Union... three of them rose up from deep in the depths of the standings and all of them did gloriously and wound up in second place... Nate Scottsdale took his Turon Typhoons from eighth place to second place in the TU South... Scottsdale paced his club from a last place 63-91 to a much better 81-73... Luxora's Donald Wren sparked his club from last place to the runner-up spot in the Tycobbian North race, going from 63-91 to 80-64... and what a season habitual loser Colchester had with new skipper Dickie Teal, who just took the helm this season... for the first time in 15 seasons his Elites posted a winning season with an 81-73 mark... Colchester finished in the seventh position in '67, trailing with a 70-84 record... they tied with Turon for the runner-up spot in the TU South. |
That concludes the 68th season for the Islandian Pro Alliance.
Will take a rest for a few days and then get ready for the 2069 season. Thank you all for keeping up with the IPA over the years... you are very much appreciated. |
Special thanks to CD for proof-reading my posts.
He catches my mistakes and errors. I appreciate his help. |
I lost my new dynasty league, the South Island Recreation League.
Matt Arnold tried to help me... I tried all of his suggestions, but none of them worked... it is really disappointing... my logos, jerseys and caps were really nice in the South Island League... I was really excited about playing it. I think my OOTP saved games are corrupted. I am afraid the Islandian Pro Alliance may be corrupted, too. Hope not. I will begin adding 3 rookies to each team and see what happens when I begin playing the 2069 season... If I get ridiculously high game scores in spring training games like 100-75... 98-50... 122-105... then the IPA will come to an unpleasant and sad ending. But you know OOTP is not life and death...if necessary, there is life without the IPA. |
Maybe the Islandian Pro Alliance might be OK... I have not messed with the league totals and modifiers.
I added rookies to 12 teams tonight... 52 more to go... will continue to work on them... hopefully season 69 is coming up soon in the IPA. If the IPA is OK, I will spend all my time on it. Will work on some jerseys updates on a few teams. Might see if txranger will do a new IPA league logo... he did a great job on the current one, but it would be good to update it. |
Glad to hear that the IPA may survive. But do you know what is corrupting your files?
It may be simplistic, but have you checked the amount of remaining space on your main hard drive? |
Quote:
No, Matt Arnold of the OOTP developers tried to help, but nothing worked. Thanks for your support of the IPA. |
I hope that your IPA is OK. I really enjoy following it.

Really appreciate all of your support. |
32 of the 64 teams have been updated with new rookies
I also purged the poor players from the reserve rosters and retired active roster players that are on the decline. Opening Day should be coming in a few days. |
39 of the 64 team rosters have now been updated for the new 2069 IPA season.
|
49 of the 64 teams have been updated with new rookies.
IPA season 2069 should be beginning early next week. |
57 of the 64 teams have been done.
Sorry, going to watch the LSU Tigers play the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the NCAA baseball playoffs. |
All 64 team rosters have been updated for the 2068 season.
Get ready... Islandian Pro Alliance baseball is on its way. Just hope and pray that the stats are not corrupted like my South Island League. |

It looked like my IPA was corrupted, too.
The scores were unrealistically high in the IPA, too. 30-20 game results on the first day of spring training. In desperation to save the league, on the Game Settings screen I clicked on the "automatically adjust league totals modifiers for accuracy" and it seems to have gotten the league stats within a decent tolerance. Thank goodness, I can at least play the league and get realistic game scores. I have no idea of why this happened. |

Wednesday, April 3, 2069 64 TEAMS OPEN 69TH IPA SEASON This Friday afternoon it will be splendor in the glorious green grass all across the Islands... once again the baseball diamonds will be sparkling on opening day in the Islandian Pro Alliance... the IPA begins its 69th season. The Forest City Firebirds will be seeking its second straight Pro Cup trophy along with 63 other hungry ballclubs... last year LaGrange, Claxton, Wynnamac and Forest City captured division crowns in the Ruthlandian Union, while Oxford, Southport, Red Bluff and Rolling Hills prevailed in the Tycobbian Union. Quickly taking a trip around the IPA, here's what the baseball pollsters and pundits are predicting this season... Far Mountain will win a close race over the Valmara Vipers and the LaGrange Gators in the Ruthlandian North... Claxton is a solid favorite to take its 7th consecutive RU South title... their biggest rivals will be Grand City and Waleska... it will be a wide-open race in the Ruthlandian East this season... 7 teams have a shot at the pennant with the Marston Nine the slight favorite, followed closely by Eastshore and Beechwood... there bad news for Pro Cup champion Forest City in the RU West... the Firebirds are picked fourth in a six-team struggle... the Middlefield Roosters may rule the roost this year with Rocky Rapids and Fort Benton right on their tails. Over in the Tycobbian Union the Oxford Red Caps are favored to repeat as the TU North winner, however, they will have Fairfax and White River breathing down their necks... Hartsdale, North Hills and Blue Lake might get into the mix, too... the Southport Sun Sox will glisten again with their fourth RU South flag in the last five seasons... but they will be tested by the runner-up Turon Typhoons... San Alejo and Ginza will be distant third and fourth place finishers... the top team again will be the Red Bluff Red Sox in the TU East... it's forecast to just be a two-team affair... only Tuckanarra is given a chance to dethrone the Red Sox... for the 10th year in succession, the powerful Rolling Hills Racers will be the supreme team in the Tycobbian West... Bayview, Denton City and La Claire will be left in their dust again this season... and it will not be close. And who will win the coveted 2069 Pro Cup trophy?... Rolling Hills is again the odds-on favorite with Southport, Red Bluff and Claxton rated the teams with the best chance to knock the Racers off. |
Good news! Do you think the Auto Calc will save your other dynasties?

2069 Islandian Pro Alliance Preseason Predictions
|
Twins 1991 posted this on the OOTP22 Discussions Forum.
I will use his instructions for the 2070 season. For my historical seasons, this is what I do. Typing step by step directions in case you'd like to save this list Whenever I hit Opening Day, I: 1. Go to League/Settings/Stats & AI....choose the season you'd like to import from the drop down menu. 2. Let it load. 3. Reset Hook for Starting Pitcher/Hook for Relief Pitcher on the left side to "default." 4. Change the BABIP to the correct number using Baseball Reference. For 1955, the correct number should be .302. **OOTP's number is always higher than the real number from what I have noticed. I saw a previous thread that explained this is why many times OOTP simulations run "hot" and have higher offensive numbers. By looking up the number, I have been much more satisfied with sim results. 4. Click Auto-Calc Modifiers (hook is recalculated to appropriate level). **I also always keep the button checked for "automatically adjust league totals modifiers for accuracy** I do all of this on Opening Day each year. I have found that this helps keep the stats very realistic. Try a test of a backup league and let me know if this helps make your totals even more realistic! |
The season is going very well statistically... batting average is down a bit... but it's fine.
In reality, the IPA is better-than-ever... I will really enjoy this season. I'm at midseason... will recap the first half of the season soon. |

Monday, July 1, 2069 DIVISION RACES STILL TIGHT IN RU AT MIDSEASON, NOT SO IN TU At midseason there are four ding-dong divisional donnybrooks going on in the Ruthlandian Union... 23 of the Ruthlandian teams are still in the pennant hunt out of the 32 squads... not so, in the Tycobbian Union... one division, the TU East has just about been decided with Red Bluff boasting a humongous 12 and a half-game bulge over the second place Tuckanarra Tiger Cats... only 13 of the 32 teams still are in the title chase. Ruthlandian Union Midseason Recap TEAMS ALL TANGLED AND TIGHTLY BUNCHED UP IN RU RACES The Far Mountain Redhawks (45-31) are high atop the Ruthlandian North Division with a 3 and a half-game edge over runners-up Valmara (42-35) and Taranto (42-35)... three other challengers are clinging close by... Glasco (39-38) is in the fourth spot in the standings, followed closely by last year's champion and this year's favorite LaGrange (38-38) and Kilkenny (38-39)... all the top three clubs prospered in June with the Redhawks registering a 17-10 record, the Vipers went 18-9 and the Tars came in 16-11, while the Foxhounds (10-18), Gators (12-15) and Cats (12-16) each struggled. Things are extra tight in the RU South race... the Belair Beach Sunbirds (45-32) are chirping a song of joy this year with a modest one and a half-game lead over perennial winner Claxton (43-33)... the Diamonds are picked to win a 7th straight flag this year... third place Waleska (42-35), fourth place Grand City (41-36) and fifth place Valka (42-36) are crowding things up, too... the Diamonds (17-10) and the Blackhawks (16-11) both performed well the last month... so did the Sunbirds (15-12) and the Westerners (15-12)... the Grand City Cybercats led the league in April (15-8), but have leveled off to the .500 mark the last two months... the Cybercats posted a 14-14 make in June. Preseason pick Marston (45-32) sizzled in June (18-9) and took over first place in the RU East... May's leader Eastshore (42-35) swooned in June (12-15) and fell 3 games off the pace in second place... Wynnamac (41-35) soared in the standings, going 17-10 last month... the Macs won it last year... Sugar Valley (41-36) has done well this year... the Rattlers are in the fourth spot... they went 16-12 in June... also-ran Belle Plaine (38-39) started the season well, but has fizzled of late with a mediocre 13-14 month. Talk about a doozy of a pennant race... just look at the RU West... 7 of the 8 teams are still in pennant contention... defending Pro Cup champion Forest City still has fine pitching, but has severely lacked offense this year... but they are still right up there... Sligo (41-36) is in front, but not by much... they could easily and quickly dip to seventh place in no time at all... the Rovers are only 1 game ahead of second place Fort Benton (40-37) and Volusia (40-37)... 1 and a half games up on Forest City (39-37)... 2 better than fifth place Colfax (39-38) and preseason choice Middlefield (39-38)... seventh place Rocky Rapids (37-39) is still very much in striking distant of the top spot, just 3 and a half games out in the race... the Vigilantes (18-9) and Black Sox (16-11) were the only clubs to play well in June... Forest City held their own at 14-13... but Sligo and Fort Benton slumbered at 13-15... Middlefield led the first two months of the season, but flopped badly last month at 9-18... Rocky Rapids wound up 12-15 in June. Tycobbian Union Midseason Recap RED SOX SOCKIN' IT TO THE TU EAST... 3 OTHER RACES SLIGHTLY CONTESTED Sorry, fans... there simply ain't no pennant races in the Tycobbian Union this season... at mid-year the Red Bluff Red Sox (52-25) are really red-hot and they have already wrapped up the TU East Division crown with a whopping 12 and a half-game lead... no one really has a chance to catch them this year... and there really is not many clubs contending in the other three divisions... most of the races involves only two teams... in the TU West surprisingly Denton City (50-27) is outplaying powerhouse Rolling Hills (47-30) by 3 games so far... Southport (51-26) tops the TU South by 5 games over rejuvenated second place Colchester (46-31)... and Hartsdale (47-29) leads Blue Lake (42-35) in the TU North by 5 and a half games. It's pretty much down to 3 teams in the Tycobbian North... the Hartsdale Hellcats (49-29) scampered out of the gate with two solid months of play... the Hellcats cooled down to 14-13 in June, while the Blue Caps (42-35) were 12-16 and the White River Rascals (40-37) were 15-12... last year's title winner Oxford (38-39) has dilly-dallied this year and are in fourth place and tied with Luxora (38-39)... they are 9 and a half-game back of first place Hartsdale... the Red Caps were named the top team in the TU North in the preseason poll... that pick is looking shaky right now. The Southport Sun Sox (51-26) captured the division flag last season and they are beaming once again at the top of the Tycobbian South standings... they should rack up their 4th pennant in the last 5 years... only second place Colchester (46-31) stands in their way... Southport has really shined this season, topping the division at the end of May and June... and the Sun Sox are getting better as they go... they went 20-7 in June... the spunky Colchester Elites led the league in April with an impressive 18-7 mark and tried their best and went 17-10 last month, but still fell a little further behind Southport... third place San Alejo (38-39) is not likely to challenge this season. Red Bluff (52-25) is clearly hands down the best team in the Tycobbian East... 5 other clubs will be battling for the runner-up spot... second place Tuckanarra (39-37), third place South Fork (39-38) and Ozarka (39-38)... you could add Hillsboro (38-39) and High Mesa (37-39) to the list, too... the Red Sox had the best record in June at 17-10, followed by the Tucks and Blazers at 16-11, the Stallions at 15-13 and the Mustangs at 14-13... the seventh place Midway Wolves tanked it last month with a weak 10-17 mark. It's a two-team tag race in the TU West... Rolling Hills (47-30) was forecast to run away with the division by double digits again this year and claim their 10th pennant in a row... and they would be doing it if the Denton City Redbirds (50-27) hadn't been performing so superbly... the Redbirds just might be in it for the long haul... they have been staying toe-to-toe with the Racers and staying ahead of them all three months of the season... Denton City is 3 games ahead of Rolling Hills at the midseason break... to top the Racers they will have to play at this pace the whole season... that is tough to do... one other club could make the race a 3-team affair... Bayview (42-34) is in the third spot in the TU West standings, trailing by 7 and one-half games... the Vikings had a bad May (11-15)... otherwise they would be right up there with the top two contenders... the Viks were 15-12 in June. |
So the "experts" didn't think that the Firebirds could repeat... :eatpop:
|
Quote:
Personally, I give Forest City a good shot at winning the RU West again... they have the best pitching in the division... the Firebirds did not hit at all in the first half of the season... everybody in the lineup is having an off-year... I think they will perk up in the second half and win it. Sligo has fine pitching, too, but the Rovers don't hit at all. Rocky Rapids has good pitching, but weak at the plate. Middlefield, Volusia and Colfax don't have the pitching to win the RU West. |
Arlon needs to change their nickname - they are not playing like Champions at all.

Maybe so, but it's not likely... the team is owned by the Kobeer and Champion Sport Apparel Company. Arlon Champions Owner: Kobeer and Champion Sport and Athletic Apparel GM: Mark Cameron Manager: Lanny Gray Arlon, a town of 87,000 in the Caledonia River delta in southwestern Tycobbia, is located 50 miles north of Turon, a seaport on the Kelnyck Ocean. It was settled by cotton growers from the American South in the 1850's and 60s, who wanted to get away from that country's disasterous civil war. Arlon’s basic economy is cotton and textile manufacturing. Rich alluvial cotton fields stretch for miles outside the town and are the source of its prosperity. Horse farms are also in abundance. Arlon is also noted for thoroughbred horse racing at Derby Downs, a magnificent racetrack that features the million-dollar National Derby each April. Another national event is the Kobeer Marathon each July, sponsored by Kobeer Sport and Athletic Apparel Company. Kobeer is also the proud owner of the Arlon Champions of the Islandian Pro Alliance and play in the Tycobbian Union West Division. The Champions were named after the tennis shoe, “The Champion”, that started the company on the way to being one of the premier sporting and athletic apparel corporations in the country. The Champs play at Derby Downs, one of the most splendid settings in all of baseball. Derby Downs ballpark dates from 1915 and is adjacent to Arlon Derby Downs, the beautiful racetrack, whose twin green grandstandtowers can be seen out over the centerfield fence. Kobeer regularly has fan appreciation days with free jerseys, caps, sweat suits and shoes just for coming to a Champions game. And in keeping with that old south Tycobbian tradition, delicious mint juleps are served at the concession stands along with other southern delicacies like fried chicken, watermelon and sweet potato pie. Tycobbians of all types love to eat and imbibe almost as much as they love Champs baseball. This year Mark Cameron became the Arlon General Manager. He played outfield for the team from 2033 to 2048, batting .275 in his career with 517 homers and 1421 RBIs. Cameron was a three-time All-Star and won the Tycobbian Most Valuable Player Award in 2039. He replaced Rocco Belasario as skipper in 2050 and was honored as the TU Manager of the Year in '56. Belasario was a Hall of Fame outfielder and successful manager. He was awarded the Tycobbian Manager of the Year twice, in '39 and '43. Belasario batted .301 in his 22 seasons with 508 homers and 1658 RBIs. He was a 9-time All-Star and 5-time Golden Glove. The first skipper of the Champions was the great Gary Louis, known as the baseball Man of Steel when he played company ball for Kobeer Apparel in the amateur times. Not only was he an outstanding hitter, rivaling Baby George and Cobb Tyson as the best ever. He never missed a game in his legendary career. Louis was voted Tycobbian Manager of the Year in '06 and '08. He also never missed a game as manager. The current Arlon manager is former star hurler Lanny Gray... He had a fabled 20-year career with 329 victories and 258 losses and a fine 3.18 ERA... 5 times Gray posted 20-win seasons. He took over this season for Wee Willie Shoemaker, a famed horse trainer and jockey at Derby Downs. Bellasario hired Shoemaker to manage the Champions when he became GM in 2066. Shoemaker flopped so badly as a skipper that it cost Bellasario his job. Bellasario said Shoemaker could make the Champs a winner despite not have much of a baseball background. Shoemaker finished 6th, 4th and 6th in his 3 seasons as skipper. Derby Downs Park (1915) Capacity: 10,983 Dimensions: LF Line 330 LF 350 LCF 375 CF 402 RCF 375 RF 350 RF Line 330 |

Sunday, September 1, 2069 SEPTEMBER SURVIVAL IS IN THE AIR IN THE IPA Down the stretch it's survival of the fittest... 8 Islandian Pro Alliance division leaders are counting the 29 days until the end of the season... September is here... the final month of the regular season... the big question all around the Islands is what will it take to win the pennant? Only one team is looking signed, sealed and delivered... that would be the Red Bluff Red Sox (75-54)... they have a solid 8-game lead in the Tycobbian East... it will take quite an effort for the Hillsboro Blazers (67-62) and the South Fork Stallions (67-62) to catch them... two teams have 5-game leads... Pro Cup favorite and Tycobbian West-leading Rolling Hills (81-48) and Marston (76-53), the top team in the Ruthlandian East, both are up by 5 games... the Southport Sun Sox (80-49) appear to be in control of the Tycobbian South with a 4-game edge over Turon (76-53)... but after that, the other 4 divisions are up in the air and up for grabs... the flag-winning clubs will have to have a good September to make the Pro Cup playoffs. Ruthlandian Union Recaps and Recollections NO GUARANTEED WINNERS IN THE RU... PENNANTS UP FOR GRABS It's a three-team tussle in the Ruthlandian North race... Far Mountain (73-55) now has a fight on its hands... preseason favorite LaGrange (71-58) and Taranto (70-59) have surged back into the race with strong play in August... the Gators feasted with a standout 18-9 mark and the Tars were right on their tails at 17-10... Far Mountain's lead has been cut to just 2 and a half games over LaGrange and 3 and a half over Taranto... the Redhawks were 14-13 for the month. The Claxton Diamonds (76-52) have captured the Ruthlandian South the last 6 seasons, but it has not been easy this year... they have been harassed the whole season by the Valka Blackhawks (75-54) and Belair Beach Sunbirds (67-62)... for half the season Grand City (61-69) and Waleska (63-66) gave them fits, too... Claxton finally made it to first place in August fending off everyone except the high-flying Blackhawks... both clubs had sizzling summers... in July and August the Diamonds went 33-19 and the Blackhawks 34-18... the winner of the RU South will be the team that stays the hottest and sizzles in September... Claxton's margin is down to just one and a half games... every game will be crucial. Heading into September things are looking swell for the Marston Nine (76-53) with a 5-game edge over the Wynnamac Sundowners (71-58) and 6 games better than the Eastshore Cotton Kings (70-59)... all of them had steady months in August... all a little better than .500... the Nine was 14-13, the Macs 15-12 and the Cotton Ballers 15-13. And just who will win in the chaotic Ruthlandian wild, wild West?... it will be one of 6 teams... Sligo (68-62) tops the division by an eyelash... a half-game better than Volusia (67-62) and Middlefield (67-62)... only 2 ahead of Rocky Rapids (65-63)... and would you believe the fifth place teams are just 2 and one half games off the pace... last year's Pro Cup champion Forest City (65-64) and Fort Benton (65-64) are both breathing down the necks of the Rovers... Rocky Rapids (17-10), Sligo (15-13), Middlefield (15-12) flourished in August, while Forest City (13-14) and Volusia (12-15) slipped some. Attachment 786613 Attachment 786614 |

Tycobbian Union Triumphs and Tribulations
RED SOX, RACERS AND SUN SOX LIKELY WINNERS IN TU It would take a great month and a total collapse by Red Bluff to keep the Red Sox from taking the Tycobbian East Division title... though they only have half the lead as the Red Sox, Rolling Hills, Southport and Blue Lake have a pretty good chance of winning their respective races. After trailing Hartsdale by 6 games in July, Blue Lake has bolted to the top of the Tycobbian North Division with a splendid 33-19 run the last two months... the Blue Caps have climbed to the top of the standings by three and a half games after Hartsdale suffered through a hellish 9-18 record in August... even last year's division champion and this year's preseason favorite Oxford has gotten back into the pennant race after enduring a pathetic 20-30 start in April and May... the Red Caps also took advantage of the Hartsdale slump by going 18-9 last month and 32-20 since July 1st... but they still are 5 games back of Blue Lake and have a lot of ground to make up and only one month to do it... this would be the first time in almost four decades that the Blue Caps have made the Pro Cup playoffs... they have only appeared 3 times in the team's history... 2030 was the last time... Blue Lake won its only Pro Cup that season, defeating Valmara in 7 games... they were the Blue Sox then and had to come back from a 3-2 deficit and win games six and seven on the road. Defending Tycobbian South champion Southport moved to the top of the heap in May and built a solid 5-game lead over the Colchester Elites by July 1st... at the same time the Sun Sox were 14 games in front of the Turon Typhoons... since then, the Elites (25-27) have fallen to the wayside, but the Typhoons have played magnificently (39-13) and chopped the Southport lead to just 4 games at the start of September... the Sun Sox were 14-14 last month... it should be a heck of a stretch drive. The Tycobbian East Division is pretty much done and decided despite Red Bluff's 23-29 slide over the past two months... the Red Sox have an 8-game bulge over Hillsboro and South Fork heading into September... the Blazers had a blistering 19-8 mark in August, but they would have to repeat that to have any chance of overtaking Red Bluff... the Stallions were only 13-15 last month and don't appear to be a serious pennant threat to the Red Sox... the Red Bluff pitching is good enough to stave off both Hillsboro and South Fork. Over in the Tycobbian West Division the Rolling Hills Racers haven't had a bad month this season, yet they didn't take over first place until August... the Denton City Redbirds outperformed the Racers the first four months of the season... the Redbirds fell from their lofty perch with a 26-26 record in July and August... Rolling Hills passed them with an impressive 34-18 surge the last two months... the Racers are up now by 5 games and should notch their 10th consecutive TU West division title... Rolling Hills is looking to win its 7th Pro Cup trophy this year... the Racers are hoping to reign supreme in the Islandian Pro Alliance for the 4th time in the last decade.
