BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, MML BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

25 June 2306

CBO Analysis

We are now at the halfway point of the season, so let's look at all of the good and the bad of what has happened in the first 60 games of the 2306 season. Twelve total teams are above .500 and 12 more are below .500, showing that there is a scaffold of tiers currently. For the NCA, 7 of those 12 teams above .500 reside there with five of them in the Brotherhood League. In the SCA, we have just five teams above .500, and those appear to be the five we will see in the 2306 postseason.

For the Top 5, guess who is at the top. If you guessed Roxbury, you would be right. The Rad Sox have been the hottest team in June, going 14-4 so far, along with a five-game winning streak and an 8-2 stretch in their last 10. The Sox split with University Point (#5), won two at Diamond City (#22), swept the Gunners (#18), and then swept Vault 81 (#9) to take a five-game lead in the Railroad League.

The team still possesses the CBO's best record, Easy Town is #2 with a 6-4 record in their last 10. The Assaultrons were swept by Sunshine Tidings (#3), won two over Salem (#12), split with Fort Hagen (#16), and then swept County Crossing (#7) on the road to stretch their Brotherhood League lead to four games.

As mentioned above, the Chemists are #3. Sunshine Tidings swept the Trons, swept Starlight (#8), got swept by the Bloodbiugs, and lost two of three at Bunker Hill (#21).

Leading the Minutemen League by a game, Jamaica Plain is #4. The Red Rockets swept the Swatters, swept Goodneighbor (#24), split at Egret (#13), and then won two of three at Spectacle Island (#6) to take hold of the ML.

University Point rounds out the Top 5 despite being behind the Reapers. The Deathclaws split at the Sox, got swept by Atom (#17), swept FHE (#19), and then swept the Cats to close this period with a five-game winning streak.

Brotherhood League

Halfway through the season, the BL appears to both be the best league and the one we are starting to think that the current standings will be the final standings with Easy Town, County Crossing, and Nordhagen Beach all in the playoffs while Salem and Finch Farm sulk in their near success.

Best player: 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson, Easy Town - We intended to list the best hitter and pitcher of each league, but Tykeson is the best overall and would win the MVP annually if there were such an award. Tykeson is 3rd in average (.352), 7th in home runs (20), and 5th in RBI (58) in the NCA. On the mound, he is 9-1 with a 3.90 in 115.1 innings pitched. His pitching numbers are not going to win him the Vim! Pitcher Award, but they are respectable all around.

Best hitter: 1B John Windman, The Slog - Windman has burst onto the scene in his third full season in the CBO. A 1st-round pick in the 2300 Rookie Draft by University Point, Windman mostly worked his way up the ladder within the Ghouls' farm system, getting called up at the beginning of 2304. he is currently batting .351 with 24 home runs and 60 RBI. Windman leads the NCA in OBP (.470), SLG (.797), OPS (1.267), WAR (4.5), ISO (.446), OPS+ (210), WPA (5.70), and wOBA (.509).

Best pitcher: SP Gavin Eviritts, County Crossing - Eviritts is one win from his seventh-straight double wins season. At 9-2 with a 3.22 ERA, Eviritts is tied for the NCA lead in complete games (4) and shutouts (2).

Institute League

Sunshine Tidings and Starlight still hold large leads over the rest of the IL despite the Killers' miserable 3-7 mark in their last 10. Concord and Fort Hagen can still be considered pretenders in the playoff race, though we could see both the Killers and the BL teams expanding their leads.

Best hitter: RF Baktu DaWell, Sunshine Tidings - The former 2nd overall pick in the 2300 Rookie Draft, DaWell remembers being disrespected as a boom or bust prospect. Well, he went the way of the boom and is now enjoying a great season, batting .339 with 27 home runs and 67 RBI. While he does not lead any category in hitting, DaWell is close, 2nd behind only the Bloodbugs' Zeldolph Violet in homers and RBI and 3rd in WAR.

Best pitcher: SP Alex Alexson, Starlight - The signing of Digger Vadim was meant to be as the best pitcher in the NCA, but Alexson is competing with his own teammate for that status. Alexson is 1st in the NCA in ERA (2.48), wins (9), WAR (3.5), FIP (3.11), ERA+ (186), rWAR (4.4), Opp. Avg. (.219), and quality starts (13).

Minutemen League

It seems that any of the top three teams could win this league, with the last hottest team likely to take it. This league is the tightest among the top three with a 1.5-game difference, whereas every other league features at least a three-game lead from 1st to 2nd.

Best hitter: 1B Barker Cocoa, University Point - Cocoa is seeking his fourth-straight Nuka Hitter Award and he is well on his way. Cocoa leads the SCA in average (.378), OBP (.537), OPS (1.288), WAR (5.0), BB (75), OPS+ (224), wOBA (.514). He already holds the single-season records for OBP, OPS, walks, and WAR, and he could be on pace to break all four in 2306.

Best pitcher: SP Glenn Patnode, Quincy - This was a tough one to pick since none of the most outstanding pitchers from the SCA in 2306 are in the ML. Patnode has been the victim of terrible run support, making his overall numbers not look as good as he has been. For example, Patnode is 5-6 but is tied in the SCA with 12 quality starts. he does not lead any other categories, but he is also 2nd in WAR (3.3) and 6th in ERA (3.49).

Railroad League

Roxbury has taken control and will probably run away with the top seed yet again with all the jostling happening in the ML. While we have our doubts about the long-term success of Vault 81, we do not see another team breaking out enough to overtake them. Diamond City is fading away and could see themselves drafting near the top of the 2306 Rookie Draft.

Best hitter: CF Ben Pawlak, Roxbury - The former Fort Hagen star is now helping his new team toward the top. Pawlak leads the SCA in RBI (76), hits (94), doubles (26), and extra-base hits (49).

Best pitcher: SP Ronnie Messenger, Oberland - If the season were to end today, we would predict Messenger to take the Vim! Pitcher Award with other good pitchers like SP Nuke Laloosh and SP Exxie Summerset right on his heels. Messenger leads the SCA in ERA (2.08), shutouts (3), ERA+ (226), rWAR (5.6), BABIP (.222), Opp. Avg. (.208), and QS (12).

CBO Players of the Week

June 18 - Taygun Topaloglu went on a week-long hitting spree against North Charles Association pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.

The County Crossing third baseman battered the opposition for 13 hits, no home runs, 4 runs batted in and scored 4 runs. He hit .500 and posted a .500 on-base percentage.

Thus far this season Topaloglu is hitting .326 with 8 home runs, 33 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 242 at-bats and has played in 57 games.

Murray Bunts of the Diamond City Swatters has just enjoyed one of the better weeks of his career. That fact was not lost on South Charles Association officials, who named him Player of the Week.

Bunts logged a .550 batting average for the Diamond City Swatters, racking up 7 RBIs and 4 home runs.

Bunts has collected 59 hits for the Swatters this year, 20 of them home runs. He has also netted 42 RBIs and scored 35 runs while batting .309.

June 25 - One of the league's most exciting young players, Orcin Cardinal of the Finch Farm Four Leafs earned himself North Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 24-year-old right fielder had a lofty .476 average (10-for-21), collecting 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This year Cardinal has socked 77 hits in 238 at-bats for a .324 average with 20 home runs. He is getting on base at a .378 pace and his totals also include 50 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

Diamond Ball has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 22-year-old second baseman of the Spectacle Island Reapers had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Ball batted .474 with 9 hits in 19 at-bats, 4 home runs and 8 RBIs.

Posting a .357 batting average to date, Ball has 32 home runs and 64 RBIs.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 July 2306

The July Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Zeldolph Violet battered North Charles Association pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Violet told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 22 games, Violet hit .363 with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 24 runs.

This season Violet is hitting at a .377 pace with 28 home runs, 71 RBIs and has scored 63 times.

SCA Hitter - Today University Point's Barker Cocoa was named the South Charles Association Batter of the Month for June. He punished SCA hurlers hard all month long, collecting 37 hits in 77 at-bats.

With a .481 batting average, 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and 26 runs scored, he was an easy choice.

In 65 games this season Cocoa has batted at a .391 pace with 88 hits and 21 home runs.

NCA Pitcher - The best pitcher this past month in the North Charles Association was Gavin Eviritts of the County Crossing Bloodbugs. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing June with a standout 4-0 record and 3.12 ERA.

The Bloodbugs hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 30 hits in 40.1 innings. He struck out 33 and walked 16.

To date this year Eviritts has compiled a 10-2 mark with a 3.33 ERA in 16 starts.

SCA Pitcher - Spectacle Island Reapers hurler Dobbie Radoncis was rewarded today with the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month honors. Radoncis, 28, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck.

"I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Spectacle Island starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place."

Things did fall into place for Radoncis. In June he took the ball for 47.1 innings while notching 21 strikeouts, a 2.28 ERA and a 5-0 record.

So far this season, Radoncis has logged a 8-4 record with a 4.19 ERA. He has started 17 games, hurled 124.2 innings and registered 67 strikeouts and 58 walks.

NCA Rookie - Youngster Birdie Burdi emerged as the latest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Fort Hagen deserved the honor, batting .244 with 4 home runs and 13 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Burdi enjoy the limelight.

So far this season Burdi is hitting .285 with 10 home runs.

SCA Rookie - Magnum Peaeye earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the South Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish Diamond City right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Peaeye hit .400 with 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Peaeye is hitting .345 for the season with 18 home runs, 54 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has 91 hits in 264 at-bats and played in 66 games.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - When Priz Worden stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Legends League Batter of the Month award.

The young Cambridge first baseman posted a .427 batting average with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 23 runs. Worden also worked pitchers for 13 walks to post a .505 on-base percentage.

Worden is currently hitting at a .389 pace with 13 home runs and 29 RBIs.

SL Hitter - Joe Hayes couldn't stop smiling during the month of June. That's because he simply couldn't stop hitting and his performance vaulted him to honors as the Stars League Batter of the Month.

The Sandwich center fielder hit .463 with 4 home runs, 21 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Hayes currently has a .295 batting average with 72 hits, 7 homers, 30 RBIs, 41 runs scored and a .368 OBP.

LL Pitcher - Alex Loz had an excellent June and has been rewarded with the Legends League Pitcher of the Month Award. The Everett relief ace was one tough customer on the mound, constantly coming in and getting his club out of trouble or protecting a one-run or two-run lead.

During the month, the Mutant Hounds star had 3 saves in 3 save opportunities, a 0.82 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 11 innings Loz struck out 14 and gave up 9 hits and 4 walks.

For the season Loz has made 26 relief appearances, recorded 3 saves, compiled a 3-1 won-lost mark and a 2.17 ERA. In pitching 29 innings, he has totaled 30 strikeouts and 9 walks.

SL Pitcher - One of the Stars League's hottest pitchers last month did his work late. Brookline reliever Edward Waddle held opponents to a .203 average and was named the Stars League Pitcher of the Month today.

Waddle rolled out no saves in no save opportunities and a 4-1 mark with 30 strikeouts in 41 innings. For the month he had a 1.32 ERA.

Waddle has made 11 relief appearances this year and notched 3 saves. To date in 68 innings he has a 5-5 record, 2.51 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 11 walks.

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Figgie Legendsport certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the CA Batter of the Month award for June.

In 50 games this season Legendsport is batting .397 with 81 hits and 21 home runs. He has scored 50 runs and driven in 64.

MA Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Boston Minor Union, Brian DeLong put up some good numbers in June and earned the MA Batter of the Month award.

To date this season DeLong is hitting .400 with 16 home runs.

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - Kyle Angst is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Med-Tek second baseman joined that select company when the North League announced the results of June's voting.

Angst totaled 28 hits, 19 walks, 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and 33 runs scored last month to put together a .350 batting average and .480 on-base percentage.

For the year Angst is hitting .323 with 22 home runs. His stats include 81 runs batted in and 65 runs scored.

SL Hitter - Bat Limato put together a good June to earn the South League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Watertown officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Armorers third baseman posted a .506 batting average with 12 home runs, 21 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

Currently Limato is batting .408 with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs.

This year McMinn has worked 83.1 innings with 96 strikeouts en route to a 9-2 record and 3.35 ERA.

He went 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA as he struck out 57 in 35.2 innings over 5 starts.

This year O'Brien has compiled a 6-3 record with a 4.09 ERA in 12 starts.

Fee wasn't just a part of the game, he was named the game MVP, as his North Region All-Stars won 10-5 over the South Region All-Stars.

Fee went 3 for 4 in the game to earn the nod as the game's best.

During his career, Fee is hitting .374 with a total of 46 home runs.

BYDL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - Saugus Launchers fans believe they've got a talented young star in Mia Thunder.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .495 with 8 home runs, 37 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

The end result was the right fielder being named the North Region Batter of the Month.

So far this year, Thunder is batting .429 with 14 home runs and 62 RBIs.

SR Hitter - Rip Risk may be much younger than other hitters in the South Region, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 18-year-old West Quincy third baseman hit .457 with 7 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

Thus far this year Risk has hit .389 with 14 home runs and 42 RBIs.

NR Pitcher - The North Region scribes have selected June's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Paul Stains of North Charles Bank. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 5-1 record.

The Goonies star performer made 6 starts with a 2.42 ERA and surrendered 39 hits in 52 innings. He struck out 80 and walked 11.

Stains has started 12 times this year, pitched 100.2 innings, fanned 152 batters and walked 19. His current record is 10 wins and 1 loss with a 2.32 ERA.

SR Pitcher - Question: Who was the #1 pitcher in the South Region in June?
Answer: That would be Mihai Comanita of the South Beach Waves.
He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 1.49 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 42.1 innings, fanned 44 and held opposing teams to a .179 average. That's exactly why the South Region scribes voted him the Pitcher of the Month.

This year Comanita has compiled a 5-3 mark with a 2.63 ERA.

SCYL Analysis

Division leaders are the Truro hatchlings and Provincetown Land Pirates of the Cape Cod Bay Division, the West Dennis Menaces and Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters of the Nantucket Sound Division, the Pawtucket Paw Sox and Woodlawn Red Clay of the Seekonk River Division, and the Seekonk Quahog of the Naragansett Bay Division. The Quahog have a Magic # of 3 and are on a 10-game winning streak to hold the SCYL's best record by 10 games.

SCYL Players of the Month

CCL Hitter - Mountainside Rockhand has a lot going for him. The Wellfleet first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Cape Cod League has just picked him as its top hitter for June.

In 24 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .433 with 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

Thus far in 2306 Rockhand is hitting .378 with 19 home runs, 59 RBIs, 52 runs scored and has compiled a .461 OBP.

PL - Avrusa Sarethi made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Providence League this past month.

The Seekonk Quahog second baseman shined through the month of June and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 16-year-old hit .500 with 13 home runs, 46 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

Thus far this year Sarethi is hitting .433 with 19 home runs, 81 RBIs and 51 runs scored.

CCL Pitcher - Kai Wet-Pommel is the latest Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Provincetown starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished June with a sparkling 4-1 record.

In 4 starts last month, he fanned 41, walked 20 in 32.1 innings and posted a 1.95 ERA. Wet-Pommel held opposing teams to a .216 batting average when he was on the mound.

To date this season Wet-Pommel is 8-2 with 5 starts and an ERA of 2.47 with 81 strikeouts in 73 innings.

PL Pitcher - It was a sensational June for Hitman Medicman as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the Providence League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Medicman locked down a 5-1 mark in 6 starts last month, striking out 45 while walking 7 in 47 innings and posting a 1.91 ERA.

In 14 starts this year Medicman has fashioned a 11-3 record and a 2.86 ERA.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

9 July 2306

CBO Analysis

We are now in July, meaning we are nearing the All-Star break and the trade deadline. This season is expected to be a more-active trade season since there are more picks in the CBO draft. For the second-straight season, the CBO has decided to keep the number of draft picks at 15, hoping that the recent flood of young players in the Boston Commonwealth area will supply a steady stream of young talent as older stars begin to fade.

This week, we have a new team atop the Power Rankings: Sunshine Tidings. The Chemists are on a CBO-best seven-game winning streak and 9-1 mark in the past two weeks. Sunshine Tidings swept The Slog (#23), won two of three over Concord (#14), swept Finch Farm (#16), and then swept Starlight (#13), the last two series on the road.

Despite still having the CBO's best record, Easy Town is at #2 this week. In their 8-2 mark, the Assaultrons split at the Killers, won all three versus the Ghouls, won both at the Radstags, and then won two of three in The Slog.

University Point climbed atop the Minutemen League and now holds the #3 spot after going 8-2 in their last 10. The Deathclaws swept Egret (#12), won two of three at Quincy (#21), split with Roxbury (#4), and then swept Goodneighbor (#24).

The team with the SCA's best record, Roxbury is this week's #4 team with a 6-4 record in the past two weeks. The Rad Sox swept Jamaica Plain (#6), won one at FHE (#18), split with the Claws, and won two of three over Diamond City (#17).

County Crossing closes out the Top 5 after going 7-3 in their last 10. The Bloodbugs swept Lexington (#22), won two at Salem (#8), swept the Synths again, and then won one against Finch Farm (#16).

Brotherhood League

Two weeks ago, there were five teams above .500, but Finch Farm's seven-game losing streak before winning a series at County Crossing pushed the Four Leafs to five games below .500. Nordhagen Beach also struggled, going 6-4 in their last 10, but they were swept by the Witch Hats this past weekend, leaving them only a 1/2 game up.

Easy Town made a game's headway on the Bugs by winning 8 of 10. The Assaultrons are appearing every day to be a formidable opponent in 2306, more so than they ever have, giving them a good chance to win their first BL crown.

Biggest Needs:
ET - Power hitter, Bullpen
CC - Speed, Defensive infielder
NB - All-around hitters at bottom of lineup
Sal - Left side (SS, 3B, LF) power, Bullpen

Top players on trading block:
FF - SP Trolley Dodge (4-9, 4.91), 1B Will Ashfire (.218/14/33)
Slog - SP Mike Cartrette (1-4, 4.60)

Institute League

While both Concord and Fort Hagen appeared they could be teams above .500, that has not been the reality for them. They are both jostling for 3rd place in the IL, but unless one of them gets hot, the NCA may see only two teams from the IL in the playoffs with the 5th seed coming from what appears to be either the Party Boys or Hats from the BL.

Sunshine Tidings is a legitimate threat to take the NCA in 2306 for the first time. While the Chemists have made the playoffs the past three years, they have failed to win a playoff series, including getting swept as the better seen in the Semifinals the past two years. Last season, they were the #1 overall seed but were swept in three games by County Crossing. This team, though, feels different, and we could see them winning it all.

Biggest Needs:
ST - 2B, Bullpen
Star - 3B, Bullpen

Top players on trading block:
Con - SP Emperry Alizm (5-4, 3.71), CF Pockets Aintfull (.277/3/31/6 SB)
FtH - SP Scruffy Taguchi (4-7, 3.45), CL Mike Pond (15 SV, 2.08)
BH - CF Any Why (.283/15/35), 2B C.T. Woodard (.213/9/23)
Lex - SP Max Grove (6-7, 3.96), CF Millioncap Go (.257/9/32)

Minutemen League

University Point, Jamaica Plain, and Spectacle Island continue to have hot and cold streaks that make them shuffle around among the top three in the ML. The Deathclaws are the current hot team, so they lead the Rockets by a 1/2 game heading into this last full week before the All-Star break.

The Reapers are winning on the power of two players: 3B Diamond Ball (.369/40/80) on pace to shatter the single-season home run record of 48 set by 1B Babs Rooth of County Crossing in 2304 and 1B Homestay Lovetap (.353/37/84). Both are in contention with Claws' 1B Barker Cocoa (.400/28/85) for the Nuka Hitter Award

Biggest Needs:
UP - SP, LF
JP - 3B, Defensive substitutes
SI - Bullpen, Speed

Top players on trading block:
Qui - RF Baywatch Fischler (.336/11/32)
Atom - CL Chopsticks McWilliams (12 SV, 2.42), 1B Casey Roux (.308/10/47)
Good - RF Prof Castillo (.276/7/38)

Railroad League

Roxbury and Vault 81 have control in this league currently, but we cannot count out Oberland and Egret just yet. Both the T-51s and Ninjas are at .500, and a sudden slump by the Dwellers could change the RL structure.

Diamond City has shown more and more that they are in sell mode, having parted ways with LF Ginger Rogers in June and supposedly having shopped around SP Sheng Kawolski (6-9, 5.74) who has struggled as much as anyone on the team.

Biggest Needs:
Rox - Speed
V81 - OF hitting

Top players on trading block:
Obe - C Racky Westheim (.355/4/31), CL William Butcherman (19 SV, 2.76)
Egr - IF Ajani Peacock (.332/6/38/38 SB), 1B Joe Mahaney (.266/15/55)
DC - Kawolski, LF Chris Hirshfield (.229/8/20)
FHE - RF Joe Rathmann (.261/17/56), C Tony Tamez (.245/10/26)

Chase Doctorman of the Oberland T-51s has just enjoyed one of the better weeks of his career. That fact was not lost on South Charles Association officials, who named him Player of the Week.

Doctorman logged a .579 batting average for the Oberland T-51s, racking up 6 RBIs and 3 home runs.

Posting a .303 batting average to date, Doctorman has 17 home runs and 46 RBIs.

July 9 - Dog Prairie of Easy Town was a smashing success this week, winning the Player of the Week Award in the North Charles Association.

He hit everything the pitchers threw at him, hammering them for a .391 batting average, going 9 for 23 with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and scoring 9 times.

In 72 games this season Prairie has compiled a .295 batting average with 76 hits and 17 home runs. He has also scored 59 times and knocked in 58 runs.

The South Charles Association made it official today: Barker Cocoa is the Player of the Week.

He really stood out on the diamond this week with a .524 average to take home the award. The University Point first baseman went 11-for-21, drove in 13 runs, scored 9 times and hit 6 home runs.

Presently Cocoa is hitting .400 with 28 home runs and 85 RBIs. He has played in 71 games and scored 78 times.

Seems to be a gap this year between the division leaders and the rest. Only the Minutemen League may have a pennant race. At least its three teams too. Still time left, but already three of the four leaders are up 5 or more. The opposite streaks of the Chemists and Killers have given Sunshine Tidings a very comfortable lead

There are some gaps, but I feel that the CBO is a lot more susceptible to huge hot and cold streaks. I mean, the Deathclaws were a losing team this season before they went on a ridiculous winning streak. I am not fully as confident as Nat is about the end result. Now, based on having the inside information, there are some definitive splits in talent. For example, Salem is pulling out a ton of tight games but statistical probabilities state that those wins will even out and they will probably fade. Then again, their units may start performing better and they win enough to move up the standings.

I just checked in 2305 and the only close race was in the BL where Easy Town led Nordhagen Beach by a game. Roxbury was up by over 15 games by this time! There have not been a whole lot of truly close races for which teams will make the playoffs, but there is a little jostling for what the final seed is. My ideal is always that the top team is around .650 at best and the worst team is around .350 at worst. The Las Vegas (!!!) A's lost 112 games in 2023, which was ridiculous. That would be equivalent to 42-78 in the CBO. Goodneighbor is likely to finish worse than that, which means I have to interfere. They have made some stupid personnel moves, thus my need to blame it on a corrupt scout.

Like that little nugget at the end. Figured it was something you rolled

That is exactly what I was thinking.

"How many crit misses do you have to roll to get your scout run out of town?"

I did roll a supermax event (rare roll of 4 1's), but I tipped the scales a bit and assigned that roll to Goodneighbor. Therefore, there was a roll, but Goodneighbor was not necessarily going to be the team. There is a second supermax event coming this season, and I know which team that has to be, also, to fit my timeline events.

About Goodneighbor, they had quite a few negative events over the years. For one, they had among the worst early luck for OOTP-generated ratings losses. 1B Bryan Assman, who was the best player by far in the early rendition of the CBO, went from 80 to 69 to 47 in two seasons, from the best player to on the verge of being in the minors. I had to intervene by trading him away and readjusting his ratings to be a decent player. He's now with Sunshine Tidings.

There were also multiple OOTP-generated trades that were uneven by far. They traded away some decent players for older players about to retire or suffer serious ratings drops due to age.

So, where has that left them? Well, they are the only CBO team to have zero players in the green or blue for current ratings. Their entire pitching staff coming into the season was made up of 20 overall pitchers. I intervened and helped them to get a few players that are not important but who could help them win a game here and there.

Here is the team's current ratings:

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706328323

They also have not built up their minors to have a good core of players coming up like some of the other bottom-finishing teams have done.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706328323

In summary, this team was a mess and mismanaged worse than the Las Vegas A's were managed like the Cleveland Indians in Major League. It has made me think that I need to more closely analyze some of the trades and monitor ratings drops for teams. In fact, I am thinking of adjusting the Talent Change Randomness to prevent some of the massive ratings changes. There are so many possibilities of missing time because of dice rolls, I may want to normalize Talent Change Randomness. I haven't fully decided yet. However, I am finding myself becoming attached to some of the players who have been stars for several years, so I don't want to see them fall off. If any of those players drop off before 30, I feel they were cheated. And I am a sad god.

CBO All-Stars

ArcJet Systems Stadium was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best CBO players gathered for the annual all-star game.

On the field, the North Charles Association downed the South Charles Association by a score of 11-3. Off the field, game MVP Maxx Murtagh said he thinks everyone had a good night.

"You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 29-year-old, who went 2-for-2 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport."

Murtagh has a lifetime .282 batting average and .390 on-base percentage in his 703-game career with 749 hits and 167 home runs.

The 2306 Home Run Challenge provided a raucous crowd at Beantown Brewery Stadium with great drama. Outlasting the competition was Zeldolph Violet. The County Crossing Bloodbugs first baseman knocked off Barker Cocoa in the final round by a score of 8-7.

"What a unique experience," said Violet. "It's something I'll always remember."

Violet has played in 941 games and posted a lifetime .329 average. He has 1132 hits, 230 doubles, 8 triples and 241 homers. In addition he has driven in 776 runs and scored 650 times.

The North Charles Association All-Stars versus the South Charles Association All-Stars. It happens every year halfway through the season. It's a baseball spectacle for the fans and the players alike. It's the 2306 Commonwealth Baseball Organization All-Star Game. The fans get to see all their favorite stars perform in the same game, and the outstanding players get to play against each other. The players are out to prove that their league is the best. Players are chosen by a vote of the fans.

The Stars League All-Stars reigned supreme tonight at Whalers Grounds, with a 10-7 triumph over the Legends League All-Stars.

What's the best league? The Legends League or the Stars League? The answer will be found in the Massachusetts Minor League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond.

BMU All-Stars

During the star-studded affair, the 2306 Massachusetts Association All-Stars defeated the Commonwealth Association All-Stars by a score of 8-3.

The fans in attendance at Mass Gravel and Sand Lot certainly enjoyed the show, seeing the best that the game had to offer.

Chief among the stars was Dusty Dumas, who led the Massachusetts Association to victory.

"I will admit I was nervous out there. To share a field with such incredible players is always a humbling experience. But after the first couple pitches, you just have to ignore the talent out there and focus on your game," Dumas commented as he accepted his award after the game.

How would you like to manage a team with more star players than you can play? It wouldn't be an easy chore. That's the dilemma facing the two managers at the annual Boston Minor Union All-Star classic -- how to get all the talented All-Stars in the game. But it's a joy for the fans -- to see all their favorite stars on one field at the same time.

GBRL All-Stars

Although his team came out on the losing end, nobody could deny Grandson Quarles's performance in this year's all-star game.

The South League All-Stars fell to the North League All-Stars by a score of 8-7, but Quarles was still named the game's MVP.

"You would have liked to have won the game of course, but being named the MVP is a great honor," he said from his team's dressing room at General Atomics Galleria Park.

In the contest, Quarles went 2 for 3.

For his career, Quarles has hit at a .325 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 251 hits, 49 doubles, 14 triples, 48 home runs and 161 RBIs.

SCYL Update

The 2306 Southern Commonwealth Youth League season has ended. Most clubs and most players are headed home for the year, but a few good teams will head to the playoffs, which are slated to start soon. They will get a chance to be the league's champion. All they have to do is win the Southern Commonwealth Series -- a not-so-easy task. To win it takes a combination of good pitching, good defense and timely hitting -- and occasionally some lucky bounces of the ball.

The teams who survived the hard battles of the regular season now begin their new campaign -- the postseason. The playoffs begin today in Southern Commonwealth Youth League as the First Round commences with these matchups of clubs hoping to win the title:
Chatham Lighthouse vs West Dennis Menaces, Truro Hatchlings vs Provincetown Land Pirates, Freeplat Wicked Goods vs Seekonk Quahog and Pawtucket Paw Sox vs Woodlawn Red Clay.

Well, there are always major events even when not rolled because my timeline trumps all!

Anyway, here are a few stories, including what Nate Howard is revealing and then what is really going on in the Commonwealth. A mystery continues . . .

Howard's Letter to CBO Fans

With the All-Star break ending, Commissioned Nate Howard, who recently returned from his mission to discover the truths behind the invisible attacks on Commonwealth area settlements, has released a statement to the CBO about the mission in progress.

From the Desk of Commissioner Nate Howard

The Commonwealth Baseball Organization takes the safety and security of our players, staff, and the wider community with utmost seriousness. Recent events have brought to light certain emergent threats within the Commonwealth that required immediate action. I am writing to inform the public of the steps we have taken to ensure the ongoing safety of all.

In a concerted effort led by a dedicated team of experts and companions, we have successfully neutralized immediate threats that posed a significant risk to the peace and stability of our settlements and the CBO's operations. This operation resulted in the elimination of three mirelurk queens and twelve behemoths, creatures that represented a direct threat to our communities.

While we believe these actions have eliminated the immediate danger, we will continue to work for the safety of all. In collaboration with the Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel, we are in the process of developing and deploying advanced defensive systems across the Commonwealth. These systems include state-of-the-art turrets equipped with technology capable of detecting and neutralizing invisible threats, ensuring our settlements are safeguarded against any future attacks.

I want to reassure everyone that these measures are being implemented swiftly and efficiently, with the sole aim of maintaining the safety and security of our communities. The CBO is committed to working tirelessly alongside our partners to ensure that our fans, players, and all Commonwealth settlers can go about their daily lives without fear.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the brave individuals who faced these threats head-on and to our partners at the Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel for their invaluable support and expertise. Together, we are building a safer Commonwealth for all.

Thank you for your ongoing support and trust in the CBO. We will continue to provide updates as necessary and remain dedicated to the well-being of our communities.

Sincerely,

Nate Howard
Commissioner, Commonwealth Baseball Organization

Terminal Entry

I followed them north, making sure to keep a safe distance so that I would not be discovered. They were easy to track, standing out in the open like demigods waiting to eliminate mortal pests in their way. I kept my distance from them to avoid being discovered but also to avoid being consumed by an invisible creature.

Their investigation led them past Salem, across the Danvers River on the Essex Bridge. There they had a faceoff with a queen mirelurk that I could not see, a "ghost queen" if you will. After the team dispatched the queen, they entered a facility and stayed there overnight. I found a small rocky crevice to camp and watched until I saw them exit mid-morning the next day. After they were gone, I entered the facility. It was obvious that they destroyed the equipment inside. What in the world went on in here? It was a mirelurk lab. But where were the people? There were no dead bodies inside. And why would they breed mirelurks? Was this how the ghost queen came to be?

There was broken equipment and broken eggshells everywhere. All terminals inside were smashed to bits and if there were any notes left here, I could not find them. One pile of ashes could have been all the evidence of what this facility was. Unfortunately, there was nothing for me to retrieve. Nothing for me to learn. But I knew Nate and his crew had found evidence. That's why they stayed. That's why they went straight west when they left. I would need to track them more to see where they were headed next.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

23 July 2306

CBO Analysis

Now that we have passed the All-Star Break, the CBO season is now 80 games in, meaning that 2/3 of the season is now complete. With just a week before the trade deadline, the teams competing for a title in 2306 should be active. Let's look at the Top 5 and then break down each league.

Easy Town, possessing the CBO's best record, is this week's #1 despite only going 4-4 in the last two weeks. The Assautrons split with Concord (#15), won one game over County Crossing (#3), and won two games at Nordhagen Beach (#14).

The powerhouse of the CBO, Roxbury is #2 this week with a 5-3 mark the past two weeks. The Rad Sox swept Quincy, won one game at Vault 81 (#6), and then won two of three at Egret (#11).

Three games back in the Brotherhood League but looking as though they are still in title contention, County Crossing is #3. The Bloodbugs went 6-2 in the last two weeks with a sweep of Fort Hagen (#12), won two of three at the Trons, and then won two of three at The Slog (#23).

The leader of the Institute League, Sunshine Tidings is #4, dropping because of a 3-5 mark the past two weeks. The Chemists split at Salem (#8), won one against the Silver Shroud, and won one against Bunker Hill (#17).

The team atop the Minutemen League, University Point completes the Top 5. The Deathclaws were 6-3 the past two weeks with a sweep at FHE (#21), a split in two of four at Goodneighbor (#24), and two of three against Jamaica Plain (#9).

Brotherhood League

This league is a two-team race for 1st and a two-team race for 3rd. Unfortunately for Nordhagen Beach, a 4-10 July has rendered them 3.5 games back of Salem for the last playoff spot. The Party Boys have been swept by the Witch Hats in both series in July, making the Hats the bane for the Boys in 2306.

Salem is a strange team to be nine games above .500. They are 9th in the NCA in runs scored (365) and tied for 5th in runs allowed (356). Their strength has been in close games where they are 14-8 (.636) in one-run games, and 5-3 (.625) in extra-inning games.

Institute League

Sunshine Tidings has answered every call, and so we think they are now competing for two things: another IL title and success in the playoffs. Starlight is fading slightly but still leads 3rd place Fort Hagen by six games.

The Killers were the most aggressive team to improve their roster for 2306, but not every acquisition has given them what they need to get over the hump. Perhaps the most disappointing has been SP Digger Vadim (5-11, 3.86), who has not pitched terribly but has suffered from bad run support. His ERA is the highest its been since 2302 when he finished 13-6 with a 3.94 ERA. That Red Rockets team gave him plenty of run support, though.

Minutemen League

This is still a three-game race, but University Point will be hard to dethrone from the top. Still, if the Red Rockets or Spectacle Island get hot, then this league could change.

The Deathclaws are still trying to figure out their pitching. While they are at or near the top in every offensive category, they are only middle of the pack in pitching, including 6th in runs allowed (396), 6th in Starters ERA (4.61), and 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.84). The Claw have been much more successful since the return of SP Tony Bertha (7-2, 3.29), but they are still waiting for the other three starters to turn up their production and bring down their ERAs below 4.00.

Railroad League

Like the IL, the RL is a two-team race. Vault 81 could overtake the Sox, but they probably will not. Oberland and Egret continue to hover around .500 and would have to really turn it on to have a chance at the playoffs.

For the Dwellers, they have been decently good all around, currently 4th in runs scored (434) and 2nd in runs allowed (324). SP Exxie Summerset (14-1, 2.45) has been nearly unbeatable, and should be in serious talks for the 2306 Vim! Pitcher Award. The other starters would need nearly as much success before Vault 81 is in the same conversation with Roxbury.

CBO Players of the Week

July 16 - Jarrett Metalbox made quite a splash in the North Charles Association this past week. The Starlight Killers left fielder drilled opposing pitchers for 10 hits in 24 at-bats to roll up a .417 batting average and the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He also contributed 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored to his club's offensive attack.

So far this season Metalbox is batting .318 with 6 home runs.

It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Diamond Ball, the Spectacle Island Reapers 22-year-old third baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 13 hits in 18 at-bats, compiling a .722 average with 4 home runs and 12 RBIs.

In his 2306 season totals, Ball has 44 home runs, .390 BA, .445 OBP, 92 RBIs and 85 runs scored.

July 23 - This week Dog Prairie, third baseman for the Easy Town Assaultrons, hit his way to the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

Prairie put on a hitting clinic with a .500 average as he belted and battered NCA pitchers for 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 7 runs.

Prairie is currently batting .293 with 20 home runs and 63 RBIs.

This week he let his bat do the talking. That's why Knud Bather of the Vault 81 Dwellers was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week.

For the week the 28-year-old third baseman batted .583 (7-for-12) with 3 home runs, 3 runs and 6 RBIs.

Bather is hitting .289 so far this season with 53 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has 92 hits including 25 home runs, 46 walks and .379 OBP.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 August 2306

The August Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Lannie Tykeson said the baseball "looked as big as a beach ball" in July.

It's no surprise then that the Easy Town first baseman captured the North Charles Association Batter of the Month Award.

On the month, he had a .310 batting average, with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs, 21 runs scored and a .430 on-base percentage.

For the season Tykeson is currently batting .342 with 33 home runs and 86 RBIs. In 86 games he has reached base at a .431 rate and scored 63 runs to date.

SCA Hitter - July's Batter of the Month Award has been given out by the South Charles Association. This month's trophy was presented to the University Point first baseman, Barker Cocoa.

He starred by hitting .427 with a .574 on-base percentage, totaled 32 hits in 75 at-bats, 15 home runs, 36 RBIs and scored 30 runs.

Cocoa is currently hitting at a .400 pace with 36 home runs and 105 RBIs.

NCA Pitcher - Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 4-0 with a 2.12 ERA, Emperry Alizm was selected as July's North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Concord starter as he left the clubhouse.

"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."

Emperry Alizm definitely contributed to the club. He had 5 starts, throwing 34 innings, striking out 24, and holding the opposition to a .220 average.

To this point in the season, Alizm shows a 9-4 record, 22 starts, 145.1 innings, 125 strikeouts and a 3.34 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - In July, Corey Ware tore through the South Charles Association like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 22 years old.

The young Spectacle Island starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 4.64 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 42.2 innings he collected 29 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .261 average.

In 22 starts this season Ware has recorded a 12-7 record and a 4.29 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Birdie Burdi's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Fort Hagen left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .324 with 6 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs. Burdi also scored 13 times and drove in 10 runs.

This season Burdi has banged out 96 hits in 327 at-bats for a .294 average with 13 home runs. He is getting on base at a .381 pace and his totals also include 46 RBIs and 52 runs scored.

SCA Rookie - Diamond City's Magnum Peaeye collected 35 hits to snare the South Charles Association Rookie of the Month for July.

He batted .402 with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

The 21-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace.

This year Peaeye is hitting .359 with 27 home runs and 79 RBIs in 86 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .397 with 24 walks and 66 runs scored.

MML Analysis

Division leaders are the Burlington Ferals (SLOG) of the Legend League's Wade Boggs Division, the Lynn Fortune Finders (OBE) of the LL's Matt Murtagh Division, the Natick Big Leaguers (DC) of the Stars League's Ted Williams Division, and the Sandwich Bay Snakes (Rox) of the SL's Carl Yastrzemski Division.

There are 24 games left to play in the regular season. The College Square Nerd Ragers (Con) are the only team to be eliminated from playoff contention.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706456937

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Burlington right fielder Moxie Morris put the wraps on a fine July by capturing the Legends League Batter of the Month honors today.

He put up a .351 batting average and .393 on-base percentage last month while racking up 10 home runs, 32 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 6 walks.

Morris is hitting .331 this year with 29 home runs, 76 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 98 hits in 296 at-bats, 30 walks and a .395 on-base percentage. Morris has played in 73 games.

SL Hitter - Sandwich left fielder Sum Downie certainly turned heads in July with some impressive numbers. He batted .412 for the month and was voted the Stars League Batter of the Month award.

He banged 12 home runs, collected 35 RBIs, scored 21 times and put up a .474 on-base percentage.

Batting .353 to date, Downie has 38 home runs and 105 RBIs.

LL Pitcher - July's #1 hurler was Beaux Beaux of Danvers. He gunned down Legends League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Sonics star piled up 4 wins and 1 loss to take the honor.

The 28-year-old Beaux added 31 strikeouts in 38 innings and 9 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.08 ERA. Other clubs hit .259 against him.

Beaux has made 20 starts, tossed 138.2 innings, struck out 125 batters and walked 35. His record is 12-4 with a 4.15 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .272 batting average.

SL Pitcher - Veteran Gwinnett Southie put together quite a successful stretch in July for the Sandwich Bay Snakes, earning himself the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award.

Southie racked up a 4-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 3.52 ERA over 38.1 innings and striking out 35.

To date this year in 20 starts, Southie has crafted a 12-2 mark with a 4.27 ERA.

BMU Analysis

League leaders in the Massachusetts Association are the Neponset Park Criticals (SAL) in the Downtown Boston League and the Worcester Cannons (FtH) in the Glowing Sea League.

There are 21 games remaining. No team has yet to be officially eliminated, but the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks (JP), trailing 1st by 21 games, cannot possibly make the playoffs due to remaining schedules of the Celtics, Clifton Vertibirds (FF), and Medford Medics (Good).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706456937

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - Today Rocky Narrows's Mark Piddlestick was named the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month for July. He punished CA hurlers hard all month long, collecting 29 hits in 63 at-bats.

Piddlestick currently has a .342 batting average with 80 hits, 12 homers, 40 RBIs, 49 runs scored and a .411 OBP.

MA Hitter - Weldon Steak got another reason to celebrate today as he followed up a great month of July at the plate by winning the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month Award.

During the month the Atomatoys Factory right fielder hit .373 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

So far this year Steak is batting .340 with 23 home runs, 62 RBIs and 55 runs scored.

To date this season Antlerhorn has compiled a 6-5 record with a 4.45 ERA in 14 starts.

MA Pitcher - July's premier pitcher was Jonathan Harrell of Neponset Park Criticals. He pulverized Massachusetts Association hitters all month long and picked up the Pitcher of the Month award. The Criticals star hurler fashioned a 3-0 record en route to the honor.

He had 22 strikeouts in 25.1 innings and compiled a 3.20 ERA. Other clubs hit .247 against him.

In 16 starts this season Harrell has notched a 8-3 record and a 4.24 ERA.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706456937

In 4 starts he struck out 31 in 31 innings with a 3.77 ERA.

This year McMinn has 13 wins and 2 losses and a 3.46 ERA.

SL Pitcher - July's top hurler was Kevin Ballinger of Poseidon Energy. He shackled South League hitters the entire month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award with a sparkling 4-0 mark.

The 21-year-old Ballinger added 56 strikeouts in 39 innings and 10 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.00 ERA. Other clubs hit .180 against him.

A few days late on this comment, and don't take it as any disagreement with how you handled the Goodneighbor plotline, but just my 2 cents on what makes a good story: A story is a collection of "things", and a thing can be interesting, even if it's not "good" per se, and what is "good" can be left up to interpretation. I suppose put much more laconically, sometimes it's about the journey not the destination. I'm entertained either way :thumbup1:

I almost had John Hancock murder the scout. But that would be bad for the league! There are a few teams I put on my "no changes whatsoever list" when it comes to ownership/relocation. Goodneighbor is one of them since they will basically own the eastern end of Downtown Boston in the future. Just like Diamond City has expanded out, so has Goodneighbor. Their new stadium (which is close to being ready on my timeline) is in Boston Common, and the walls have come down so that they can claim more territory. They will also have the Park Street metro station exit right at their stadium once that is ready.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 August 2306

NWL

Two teams have emerged atop the NWL standings as we enter the final month of the regular season. The Grape Painted Ghouls (46-25) and the Cherry Goulrillas (41-30) each hold a sizable lead with just 19 games to play. The only other team in the NWL with a winning record is Victory (38-33), the Cave Crickets trail the Painted Ghouls by eight games.

Grape is both 1st in runs scored (427) and runs allowed (290) in the NWL. the Painted Ghouls are led on offense by C Mousey Rooney (.329/21/57). LF DuWeb Bois (.354/7/42) bats 7th in the lineup but leads the team in batting average. SP Steven Nebraska (13-3, 2.86) has been great in 2306.

For the Ghoulrillas, looking to return to the playoffs after a poor 2305 showing, they are six games up on the Dark Bloodworms (35-36) in the South Bradberton Division. Cherry is 3rd in runs scored (370) and 4th in runs against (339) and hold the only winning record in their division. Offensively, the Ghoulrillas are led by LF Zachary Utsinger (.353/13/39) and 3B Ben Couto (.367/10/48). SP Neil Persian (8-3, 3.63) has been their best starter and CL Old Buck Buchanan (19 SV, 1.52) has been steady out of the 2nd-best bullpen.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706541543

NWL Players of the Month

Hitter - Victory Cave Crickets 24-year-old first baseman Diss Montand hit his way to a .523 batting average and the Nuka World League Batter of the Month award in July.

He had 1 home run, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored for the month.

Posting a .418 batting average to date, Montand has 1 home run and 39 RBIs.

Pitcher - There's no doubt that Painted Ghouls starter Steven Nebraska earned his Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month award. He left absolutely no room for doubt as he mowed his way through the opposition in July.

During the month Nebraska was 6-0 with a 1.71 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 52.2 innings and had 41 strikeouts.

For the year Nebraska has compiled a 13-3 record with a 2.86 ERA.

Rookie - The Nuka World League made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month honor went to Ah Oona of Grape. He was singled out as the top-rated rookie for the month of July.

Last month, the 25-year-old Painted Ghouls shortstop played in 24 games and hit .374 with 6 doubles, 3 triples and 6 home runs. Oona also scored 24 times and drove in 23 runs.

Thus far this season Oona has hit .336 with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and scored 55 times.

APL

Just like at the All-Star Break, the Bradberton Disciples (Victory) and the Galactic Zone G-Force (Quartz) lead their divisions heading into the final week of the season.

Bradberton (44-34) will face the Nuka Town Operators (42-36) and the Safari Gazelles (37-42) for the right to hold off the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies (40-38) in the North Division.

The G-Force (44-35) lead the Operators by just 1.5 games. They will try to clinch their division despite their current trip to Dry Rock Gulch (31-48) and then a final road trip to Grandchester (39-39). Galactic Zone will be pulling for the Disciples this week.

APL Players of the Month

Hitter - When you hit the baseball as well as Jake Roth did in July, it's no surprise when you get named the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month.

The Nuka Bottling Plant Pack standout terrorized opposing pitchers all month long, to the tune of a .388 batting average, with 11 home runs, 21 RBIs, 27 runs scored and a .490 on-base percentage.

This year Roth is hitting .388, produced 21 RBIs and 11 home runs, scored 27 times and gotten on base at a .490 rate.

Pitcher - When Eric Jacobs takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Nuka Bottling Plant victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-1 mark and a 3.83 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 49.1 innings, fanned 29, and held enemy hitters to a .279 average.

That's why the Pack star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Amusement Park League.

In 12 starts this season Jacobs has fashioned a 8-5 record and a 4.34 ERA.

NWLRL

The Red Rocket Radrats (Quantum) and the Dunmore Ferris Wheels (Orange) won their respective divisions and faced off in the NWL Rookie Series. There, the Radrats took the series, 3 games to 1. CF Toto Kansas of Red Rocket was named the Series MVP, going 8 for 18 (.444) with a homer and four RBI.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1706541543

NWLRL Players of the Month

Hitter - The NWL Rookie League has given Pat Dotzler the Batter of the Month Award.

In July, the Wixon right fielder starred with a .273 batting average, 9 home runs and 16 RBIs. Dotzler also had 9 walks, posted a .377 on-base percentage and scored 17 times.

Lifetime Dotzler has played in 178 games, batted .279 with 52 home runs and 152 base hits.

Pitcher - Nuka Plant's Frazier Crane hated to see July end. It was one of the single greatest months the reliever has posted, and the 18-year-old reliever did so well that he garnered enough votes for the NWL Rookie League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Crane held the opposition to a .269 batting average in 10 relief appearances. He worked 14 innings, collected 4 saves, sat down 12 on strikes and posted a 3-2 record and a 4.50 ERA.

BBL

The Wixon Shovels and the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors faced off in the Bradberton Boys Series for the second-straight season. Fizztop won the series again, winning it 2-1. The Conquerors' SS Shi Tyuknot was the Series MVP after going 5 for 12 (.417) with 2 home runs and 7 RBI.

BBL Players of the Year

MVP - The manager of the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors said he thinks Vape Locke is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 14, but it will be hard to top the left fielder's 2306 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Bradberton Boys League Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .313 batting average and a .467 on-base percentage this year. In 39 games he piled up 41 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, 26 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Vegas Bradber of the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors finished second in voting, while Jean Whirl of the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors finished third.

The 17-year-old Godmodes star fashioned a 3-0 won-loss record in 2306 with a 1.38 ERA. In 52 innings of work and 10 starts, Speedboat struck out 54 while giving up 28 hits and 15 walks. He held opposing batters to a .156 average.

Ziggy Sobotka - Ol Sugartop Buckaroos - 0 - 8

Reliever - Tony Crews said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 16 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Mad Mulligan Travelers rising star has won the Bradberton Boys League Reliever of the Year Award for 2306.

He captured the award on the strength of his 1.45 ERA over 18.2 innings. He also had no saves in 17 relief appearances, 26 strikeouts and only 3 walks.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

12 June 2306

Vim! League

The Vim! League has one competitive division, and the other one is nearly done as we begin the final month of the regular season.

In the Fog Division, Dalton Farm holds a 15-game lead over the National Park Gulpers with just 19 to play. The Fog Crawlers' Magic # is five, meaning that they are likely to clinch the division this week.

The Crawlers have dominated the Vim! League yet again as they seek their fourth-consecutive Vim! Series win. Dalton Farm is 1st in runs scored (429) and allowed (290). On offense, three players have been other wordly: 3B Ryan Morris (.348/26/69), 1B James Darling (.374/24/64), and CF Toppie Gunn (.329/29/76). Pitching has four good starters, but ace SP Phil Cecil (13-1, 3.14) has been the most dominant.

In the Harbor Division, both the Grand Hotel Atoms and Far Harbor Ghoul Whales are knotted at 40-31. The Atoms hold the current tie breaker.

Grand Hotel is 4th in runs scored (367) and 2nd in runs allowed (305). Their best overall hitter has been CF Kyle Fahnestock (.320/16/48) but every hitter contributes on offense. The Atoms' pitching is led by SP Michel Acadiaman (10-6, 3.51) and CL Little Rat Swickard (20 SV, 1.80).

Far Harbor is 3rd in runs scored (378) and 3rd in runs against (342). The Ghoul Whales have several outstanding hitters, but CF Drew Buntrock (.342/14/70) has been the team's best. On the mound, SP Alex Ruder (8-6, 3.57) and SP Noodle Green (9-1, 3.98) have sub 4.00 ERAs.

This year Acadiaman has worked 130.2 innings with 84 strikeouts en route to a 10-6 record and a 3.51 ERA.

MDIL

With 19 games to go, both the Nucleus Radchickens (Eden) and the Haddock Cove (Grand Hotel) both hold slight leads in their divisions. The Radchickes lead the Brooke's Head Behemoths by four games, while the Engineers lead both the Eagle's Cove Harpooners and Ocenarium Oceanics by three games. Last season, Nucleus defeated the Oceanics, 4-3, to win the Mount Desert Island Series.

MDIL Players of the Month

Hitter - John Millertime has made a definite impact on the baseball world by snatching Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month honors for July.

For the year Millertime has hit .342 with 31 home runs, 78 RBIs and scored 62 runs.

The talented Harpooners hurler made 6 starts, worked 44 innings, permitted 42 base hits, and struck out 31 while putting up a 3.48 ERA.

On the season Blackmire has a 8-2 record with a 4.35 ERA.

VRL

The Vim! Factory Pops (Echo) and Longfellow Pips (CI) each won their divisions during the playoffs to make it to the third Vim! Rookie Series. There, the Pops took the series, 3-0. SS Bad Brad Broussard was named Series MVP. Vim! Factory has won all three championships in VRL history.

He excelled with a 3-1 mark and 2.61 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 38 innings, fanned 42 and held others clubs to a .248 average.

MYL Players of the Year

MDIL MVP - At the age of 16, Aadam Airheart of the Far Harbor Dockdwellers could very well have his best years ahead of him.

The top hitter put up a .348 batting average this year, as well as a .473 on-base percentage. He played 40 games and racked up 46 hits, 8 doubles, no triples, 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

GDIF Reliever - At the age of 16, Gregory Rawsap says he still has a lot to learn about life in Maine Youth Leagues.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Far Harbor Dockdwellers reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2306 Mount Desert Island Four Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the
Windsor, Maine native said.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

6 August 2306

CBO Analysis

The 2306 season is now 75% of the way done. With just six weeks to play, we are starting to reach that point where teams have their last chances to surge or fall. Overall, it appears that the 10 teams that will emerge for the 2306 playoffs are set, but there can still be big gains and big drops before the season comes to an end. Let's take a look at the Top 5, the league breakdowns, and what trades were made in July to try to set teams up for that one last piece to win it all.

Coming in at #1 this week is the CBO's hottest team, the County Crossing Bloodbugs. Though they still trail by a game in the Brotherhood League, the Bloodbugs have surged to the CBO's second-best record after going 9-1 in the past two weeks, including a CBO-best 8-game winning streak currently. The Bugs split at Fort Hagen (#17), swept Nordhagen Beach (#16), swept Starlight (#9), and swept the Party Boys again.

The team with the CBO's best record is Easy Town, and they are #2 in this week's Power Rankings. The Assaultrons went 7-3 in their last 10 by splitting at the Killers, sweeping Finch Farm (#18), sweeping Lexington (#23), and then winning one of three at Salem (#11).

Vault 81 is #3, now in a multi-team tie for the South Charles Association's top record. The Dwellers are the SCA's hottest team, going 8-2 in their last 10. They split at Atom (#21), swept Diamond City (#19), swept at Jamaica Plain (#8), and won two at FHE (#22).

At #4, we have University Point, the leaders of the Minutemen League, with a 6-4 mark in the past two weeks, including a big ML series this past weekend. The Deathclaws split with the Swatters, won one at Spectacle Island (#7), split at Oberland (#13), and then swept the Reapers to take a three-game lead in the ML.

Roxbury rounds out the Top 5 after going 4-6 in their last 10. The Rad Sox were swept by the Red Rockets, won two of three against the T-51s, lost both at Spectacle Island, and then won two in Oberland.

Brotherhood League

The battle between Easy Town and County Crossing for BL supremacy looks to be a fun race as we enter the last quarter of the season. While the Assaultrons have spent a good portion of the season as the CBO's top team, the Bloodbugs have come on strong and are looking to find even more success in 2306.

Meanwhile, the battle for 3rd place and the 5th spot in the playoffs appears to be firmly in the hands of Salem right now with a four-game lead over the struggling Party Boys. Nordhagen Beach has been an enigma this season after reaching the Sole Survivor Series a year ago. The Boys have many of the same players, but they are just not having the same success that they have in the past. The bottom half of the lineup has not been able to produce as many runs as past season, which may be their biggest problem.

Institute League

Just when Concord looked to get into the playoff race, they quickly fell right back off by dropping four straight, including being swept by Starlight in a series that could have put them in 2nd place. Now the Radstags are 4.5 games back for the 4th seed in the playoffs and 5 back for the 5th seed.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Tidings has been struggling as of late, going 3-7 the past two weeks. Still, the Chemists possess the CBO's largest league lead at 7.5 games. For Sunshine Tidings to compete with the big boppers of the BL, they'll have to find a whole lotta shakin' going on.

Minutemen League

University Point's sweep of Spectacle Island separated teams in this league recently, but we cannot predict any team will take the reins for the rest of the season. The Deathclaws as defending champions should have the edge, but they have had their ups and downs all season.

Jamaica Plain was not aggressive before the trading deadline, meaning that they think they have what it takes to win it all with that they have. Struggling to close the gap with the Claws and Reapers may take its toll come playoff time, though.

Railroad League

Right now, this league has the most intriguing league title race, mainly because it is the only league currently tied. Roxbury had a slow return from the All-Star Break, while Vault 81 has shown that they have come to play in 2306 in their pursuit to be a worst-to-first story.

Though they have some holes on their team, overall they have played over their heads. Whether or not the Dwellers will come crashing down later, we do not know. One aspect has been switching around defensive positions to stress offensive production. With Tib Shorthop (.307/23/72) handling SS, End Yamada (.310/21/76) has moved to 2B, and Harry Byrd (.363/22/74) has moved to 1B. Adding to that, Knud Bather (.299/28/58) is in his third season manning 3B, meaning that the Dwellers have three legitimate SSs and another good middle infielder in Byrd in their infield.

CBO Players of the Week

July 30 - The North Charles Association has selected its Player of the Week and the honor went to Aaron Sinn, Nordhagen Beach's fine third baseman.

For the week he batted .545 (6-for-11) with 3 home runs, 6 runs and 8 RBIs.

In 52 games this season Sinn has batted at a .256 pace with 34 hits and 7 home runs.

The South Charles Association has selected its Player of the Week. The honor went to Barker Cocoa, first baseman of the University Point Deathclaws.

In a standout performance, he lit up the league with a .476 average to win the award. Cocoa went 10-for-21 for the week, totaled 4 home runs with 12 RBIs and scored 6 times.

So far this season Cocoa is hitting .404 with 36 home runs.

August 6 - 27-year-old right fielder Babs Rooth of the County Crossing Bloodbugs is the talk of the North Charles Association for putting on a torrid hitting display last week and claiming the Player of the Week Award.

Rooth rapped out a sensational .550 batting average with 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 4 home runs and 5 RBIs.

For the season, Rooth is hitting at a .328 clip with 33 home runs, 81 RBIs and has scored 84 runs. He has 116 hits, 60 walks and a .425 on-base percentage.

His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Matt Basile was rewarded with the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Spectacle Island Reapers right fielder hit .450 while collecting 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 3 home runs and 5 RBIs.

This season Basile is swinging the bat at a .235 rate with 80 hits in 341 at-bats. To date he has hit 23 home runs, scored 48 runs and driven in 51.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

7 August 2306

Draft Pool

The list of players who have declared for the first-year player draft was announced earlier today. BNN will have special coverage dedicated to this draft. Just look in the transaction section for the special page dedicated to the young players hoping to make a name for themselves in the show. In all, 784 players have been declared eligible for the 15-round, 360-player draft.

While teams struggled in 2306 to fill up their GBRL teams, it is expected that a flush of young talent will join the league in 2307. The NWL and Vim! Leagues will also have the opportunity to pick up a few good players for their franchises.

Teams now have a chance to scout the draft pool for 90 days before the draft is held.

The early favorites to be high picks are the following:
1. Missile Crews, 17 year-old CF out of West Quincy (BYDL).
2. Gavin Deux-Gas, 17 year-old 3B out of Wattz (BYDL).
3. Keg Gutterson, 18 year-old 3B out of Covenant (BYDL).
4. Winslow Beaver, 17 year-old 1B out of Beerthirty (BYDL).
5. Family Sam Partridge, 17 year-old RF out of Boston Harbor (BYDL).
6. Paul Stains, 17 year-old RHP out of North Charles Bank (BYDL).
7. Anxious Wade Osteen, 17 year-old 1B out of Jamiaca Plain-University Point (BYDL).
8. Jaheim Harper, 17 year-old 3B out of Diamond City (BYDL).
9. Jacob Tarberry, 17 year-old 3B out of North Charles Bank (BYDL).
10. Hatrack Hines, 17 year-old SS out of West Quincy (BYDL).

The top ranked players out of the SCYL include 1B Tyler Johnson (Harwich), 1B Mountainside Rockhand (Wellfleet), SP Sebastian Brakefield (Truro), SP Boston Gloston (Provincetown), and 2B Mader Sierra (Swansea).

Scouts have already rated this as the strongest rookie draft in CBO history with 64 players rated to be CBO-potential starters at their respective positions. This group is part of the Commonwealth "baby boomers" born after Nate Howard, Nate's companions, the Minutemen, and the Brotherhood of Steel worked in unison to make Boston and its surrounding areas much safer.

Based on current standings, the top ten draft order would be:
1. Goodneighbor
2. Lexington
3. The Slog
4. Atom
5. FHE
6. Diamond City
7. Finch Farm
8. Quincy
9. Fort Hagen
10. Bunker Hill

Franchise News

With a low population and dwindling attendance, Finch Farm owner Jake Finch is the latest owner looking to move his team to a population center. The Four Leafs' MML affiliate, the Nahant Shoremen, has a larger population and is already considered in the pool of franchises once the CBO expands.

Finch has asked for help from the CBO to help make payroll in the last few months, stating that proceeds from his father Abraham Finch's farm is not enough to finance the team.

Nate Howard has not responded publicly about the situation, but the chances of Finch Farm moving after this season is a probability. Outside of Nahant, there are few current populations with a ready stadium. The nearest population that could support a team is Malden, but many of the fans there opt to follow County Crossing instead.

The farm settlements have found themselves losing more settlers than they have gained in recent years. There are a few exceptions of places that have maintained a nice-sized population, including the previously-mentioned County Crossing area which is also home to a large storage warehouse and goods store, Sunshine Tidings, and Oberland. Sunshine Tidings has shaped itself into a resort town, and Oberland has the Beantown Brewery nearby for many of its residents to work.
