Playoff field seems to be starting to shape up. Interesting how there's only one team above .500 who wouldn't make the postseason if the year ended today. WC race should be good and the Red Rockets are starting to heat up. If only they didn't start out so slow...
And Vault 81... Wow! What an untimely losing streak. Might have dug themselves in too deep a hole Still plenty to play for down the stretch! |

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 August 2307 CBO Analysis Most teams have played 100 games. With 20 games to play, one team has clinched a spot but no teams have been eliminated. Let's take a look at the current seeds and the Top 5. The current playoff seedings look like this: NCA T-1. Easy Town T-1. Sunshine Tidings 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Starlight 5. County Crossing The Assaultrons and Chemists have identical records with a 3-3 season series record against each other. That means the teams are officially tied for the top seed. The rest of the seeds remain the same. SCA 1. z-Roxbury 2. University Point 3. Jamaica Plain 4. Oberland 5. Spectacle Island Nothing has changed here except that the Rad Sox have clinched at least the 5th seed and they are just one win away from clinching a tie for the RL. The Reapers have a 3.5-game lead for the wildcard spot, which is about as solid a lead as there can be since no other SCA team appears capable of breaking the .500 barrier. Roxbury is again #1 6-4 record in the past two weeks and a playoff spot clinched. The Rad Sox swept University Point (#4), won one at FHE (#17), split at Jamaica Plain (#6), and then won two over Oberland (#8). Sunshine Tidings is the #2 team tied for the CBO's best of 7-3 over the past two weeks. The Chemists swept Salem (#13), won two over Bunker Hill (#12), split with Easy Town (#3), and won two at Starlight (#9). Easy Town is #3 after a 6-4 run in their last 10, including the big weekend BL series win. The Assaultrons swept the Killers, won one at The Slog (#21), split with the Chemists, and won two over County Crossing (#10). University Point is #4 also with a 6-4 record the past two weeks. The Deathclaws were swept by the Sox, swept Goodneighbor (#24), got swept by Egret (#18), and then swept Quincy (#14). Nordhagen Beach comes in at #5 after matching the Chemists and Vault 81 for the CBO's top record in the past two weeks. The Party Boys swept Lexington (#22), won one at the Bloodbugs, split at Concord (#23), and then swept Nahant (#19). Brotherhood League Teams are starting to run out of time. Unless there is a severe streak in some direction, the standings are looking to be set, which would be great news for Easy Town since they have been on the brink of winning the BL for multiple years. Salem has to be among the most frustrated teams and fan bases in the CBO. Considered legitimate playoff contenders in 2307, the Witch Hats are five games back of County Crossing for the 5th seed. The Hats are 7th in runs scored (437) and 4th in runs against (427), meaning that their record does not necessarily match their statistical output. This is a team that is young and has a lot of up-and-coming talent. They just have to find a way to put it all together. Whether or not Manager Megaphone SIlva gets a third chance to prove that is yet to be seen. Institute League Sunshine Tidings has the 2nd-lowest Magic # in the CBO at 12. Starlight leads the season series 7-5, but the Killers have been unable to handle the rest of the NCA at the same capacity. Bunker Hill has a slight chance to make the playoffs, but they need County Crossing to go cold first. Fort Hagen has been rumored to be in the middle of a reload. That includes rumors that there are offseason deals for SP Scruffy Taguchi (7-14, 4.93), who has just not been a fit there. They have lots of offensive talent in their system, but they could use more pitching prospects. Minutemen League Like every other league in the CBO, there does not appear to be serious races for the end of the season. Perhaps Spectacle Island can find a way to battle Jamaica Plain for 2nd place, but otherwise we know who is in the playoff run and who is not. Atom and Quincy just do not appear to have what it takes to get themselves in the wildcard discussion. Two weeks ago, Goodneighbor was the worst team in the SCA but not the CBO. Now they are back in contention for the #1 draft pick yet again. It would mark the 3rd-straight season of picking the top player. The last two--LF Handel Alone (,276/6/29) and CF Missile Crews (.342/27/78)--have had outstanding rookie seasons, showing the future is bright for the Hancocks. We will preview the top expected picks later in this update. Railroad League Roxbury is in and about to clinch the RL. Oberland leads Vault 81 by 1.5 games, making it the best race we have in the CBO, the right to be the 4th seed in the SCA. We are curious to see what moves Diamond City makes this offseason. Owner Moe Cronin has called some players untouchable, but he may be impatient with Manager Steve Wagner and decide to ditch that philosophy for some fresh players. If that were to be true, we could see SP Sheng Kawolski (13-8, 3.54), CL Josh Samm (25 SV, 2.32), and 3B Allen Bishop (.280/10/44) on other teams in 2308. CBO Standings https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1710640719 CBO Power Rankings https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1710640719 CBO Players of the Week August 12 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Dusty Brownell was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Concord Radstags first baseman hit .421 while collecting 8 hits in 19 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. Brownell is batting at a .274 pace this season, picking up 89 hits in 325 at-bats with 35 home runs, 80 RBIs and 58 runs scored. 22-year-old Nuke Lebowitz sent shock waves through Commonwealth Baseball Organization last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Lebowitz made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .444 average, 8 hits in 18 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 RBI. Where the FHE Yao Guai left fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Lebowitz certainly made his mark last week. So far this season Lebowitz is hitting .266 with 11 home runs, 30 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 33 hits in 124 at-bats and a .314 OBP. August 19 - County Crossing Bloodbugs shortstop Cy Thompson walked away with the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award today after putting up some impressive numbers over the past seven days. "The Bloodbugs fans are really behind me right now," said the 28-year-old. "That helps. They give you the confidence to go out there and do better." Thompson batted .500 (10-for-20) with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs this week on his way to the award. Presently Thompson is hitting .319 with 25 home runs and 61 RBIs. He has played in 83 games and scored 69 times. It was a sweet day for Barker Cocoa of the University Point Deathclaws, who found out he has been named the South Charles Association Player of the Week. The Deathclaws first baseman put up a solid .667 average and contributed 6 home runs and 15 RBIs to claim the honors. So far this year Cocoa has 52 home runs and a .418 batting average. He is the 4th player all time to hit 50+ home runs in a season. The other three happened in 2306. CBO Transactions Saturday, August 17th , 2307 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets: Signed 1B Adrian Savoie. BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 September 2307 The September Super Post, Part 1 CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Cy Thompson battered North Charles Association pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Thompson told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 22 games, Thompson hit .412 with 6 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 25 runs. This season Thompson has hit at a .327 clip with 64 RBIs, 27 home runs and 77 runs scored. SCA Hitter - Barker Cocoa of the University Point Deathclaws stood out at the plate during August. The 29-year-old first baseman manhandled South Charles Association pitchers by batting .480 and was named the Batter of the Month. Cocoa collected 36 hits with 16 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 29 times. Cocoa is hitting at a .415 mark this season. His stats show 56 home runs, 142 RBIs and 118 runs scored. He has played 109 games for the Deathclaws. NCA Pitcher - When Beachboy Nut takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Nordhagen Beach victory. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 5-0 mark and a 1.26 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 50 innings, fanned 53, and held enemy hitters to a .191 average. That's why the Party Boys star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the North Charles Association. Nut has a 11-4 season record so far. In 27 starts, he has fanned 151 batters in 196.1 innings with a 3.67 ERA. SCA Pitcher - The top pitcher this past month in the South Charles Association was Tim Fusion of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing August with an excellent 4-0 record and 2.66 ERA. The Red Rockets hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 34 hits in 40.2 innings. He struck out 24 and walked 10. So far this season Fusion has compiled a 14-9 record with a 4.15 ERA. NCA Rookie - Lately Chad Nailgun has been approaching every start with a wealth of confidence for a tenderfoot. For his outstanding performance the Concord Radstags starter picked up the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month Award today. He was really in a groove during August as he collected 4 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts, 19 strikeouts in 38.2 innings and an impressive 3.26 ERA. So far this year Nailgun has made 24 starts, tossed 162 innings, struck out 88 batters and walked 67. His record is 11-5 with a 4.50 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .277 batting average. SCA Rookie - Youngster Hondo Ohnaka emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Quincy deserved the honor, batting .325 with 8 home runs and 23 runs batted in. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Ohnaka enjoy the limelight. So far this season Ohnaka is hitting .278 with 23 home runs. CBO Statistics Record watch: Barker Cocoa's season has been insane in all respects. With just 15 games to go, Cocoa is on pace to break the following records: AVG: .411 - Jarrett Metalbox (2298): .408 SLG: .903 - Homestay Lovetap (2306): .817 OPS: 1.454 - Barker Cocoa (2306): 1.352 RBI: 142 (1.35/game) - Homestay Lovetap (2306): 149 (1.24/game) WAR: 11.03 - Barker Cocoa (2306): 11.04 R: 118 (1.12/game) - Diamond Ball (2306): 125 (1.04/game) TB: 343 (3.27/game) - Diamond Ball (2306): 375 (3.13/game) He is just behind the pace for these records: HR: 56 (1 HR/2.05 games) - Homestay Lovetap: 61 (1 HR/1.97 games) OBP: .552 - Barker Cocoa (2306): .553 H: 156 (1.49/game) - Aesed Hayjen (2306): 197 (1.64/game) BB: 116 (1.10/game) - Barker Cocoa (2303): 144 (1.2/game) Not only that, but Cocoa is almost assuredly going to be the CBO's first association-based Triple Crown winner. Here are the full stats, including the upper half of rookie batting. |

BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 September 2307 The September Super Post, Part 2 CBO Prospects in the Minors https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711072179 MML Analysis The MML season is complete and now four teams will compete for the 2307 Massachusetts Minor Series. Abernathy Adamantium (70-38, BH) vs Everett Mutant Hounds (69-39, V81) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (57-51, Atom) vs Boston Common Lead Bellies (75-33, Sal) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711072179 MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Justin Sauerkraut may be much younger than other hitters in the Legends League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in August to win the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old Burlington right fielder hit .500 with 14 home runs, 37 RBIs and 22 runs scored. Sauerkraut is hitting .423 this year with 25 home runs and 64 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .471, 16 walks and scored 47 times. SL Hitter - At only 25 years of age, Josh Green could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Glowing Sea Radscorpions, as August was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Stars League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .448 with 7 home runs, 16 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Green on the season is hitting .316 with 29 home runs. His stats include 78 RBIs and 90 runs scored. LL Pitcher - When Gooseberry Fullwallet takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in August. The outcome was usually a Everett victory. His fine 5-0 performance earned him the Legends League Pitcher of the Month trophy. The talented Mutant Hounds hurler made 6 starts, worked 46 innings, permitted 34 base hits, and struck out 39 while putting up a 2.74 ERA. In season stats Fullwallet shows a 19-7 record in 29 games, 221.1 innings, 168 strikeouts and a 3.66 ERA. SL Pitcher - Danny Machart really tore up the Stars League this past month. He went 5-0 in August and won the Pitcher of the Month award. In 5 starts he struck out 49 in 36.1 innings with a 3.47 ERA. This year Machart has worked 200 innings with 276 strikeouts en route to a 19-3 record and 3.06 ERA. BMU Analysis Four teams remain in the fight for the 2307 Boston Minor Series. Brockton Irish (56-32, Nah) vs Mystic Pines Raybathers (60-28, Obe) Plymouth Pilgrims (52-37, Egr) vs Mass Pike Radroaches (54-34, Slog) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711072179 BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Devin Ghoul certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the CA Batter of the Month award for August. The 19-year-old center fielder for the Covenant Refractors hit .438 with 12 home runs, 32 RBIs and 27 runs scored. For the year Ghoul is hitting .335 with 19 home runs. His stats include 58 RBI and 59 runs scored. MA Hitter - Trey Lickrock has a lot going for him. The Worcester right fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Massachusetts Association has just picked him as its top hitter for August. In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .461 with 7 home runs, 23 RBIs and 18 runs scored. So far this year in 66 games Lickrock is hitting .416 with 20 home runs, 64 RBIs and 62 runs scored. CA Pitcher - The Covenant Refractors owe Edwin Mass a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in August, Mass tore up the opposition with a fine 4-0 mark on his way to the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month award. "When you're pitching this well," analyzed Mass, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is." It was Mass who did the banging in August as he tossed up 14 strikeouts in 36.2 innings, holding opponents to a .285 average and posting a 2.95 ERA. This season, Mass has fashioned a 7-4 mark and 3.29 ERA in 109.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .286 against him and he has logged 54 strikeouts. MA Pitcher - Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Kent Rothschild of the Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials. He captured the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in August. Rothschild started 5 games, threw 32.2 innings, yielded 24 hits and logged a 4-0 record. He put down 32 batters on strikes, walked 9 and compiled a 1.93 ERA. Opposing teams batted .202 against him. So far this year Rothschild has 4 wins and no losses and a 2.87 ERA. GBRL Analysis The regular season is complete with a couple of thrilling divisional races at the end. As the season completed, though, only four teams could move to the playoffs. Tenpines Bluff Manta Men (47-42, JP) vs Corvega Flamers (53-35, Slog) Poseidon Energy Mongrels (66-22, V81) vs Watertown Armorers (63-25, FHE) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711072186 GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Kilometers Davis put together a good August to earn the North League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Corvega officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Flamers first baseman posted a .352 batting average with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Davis is presently hitting at a .294 pace with 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and has scored 33 times. SL Hitter - Watertown Armorers fans believe they've got a talented young star in Syd Thriftstore. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in August, as he hit .438 with 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 27 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the South League Batter of the Month. For the year Thriftstore is batting .433 with 52 hits and 19 home runs. He has scored 41 times and driven in 51. NL Pitcher - In August when the Union Hope manager wrote the name "Williams" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Alex Williams took the hill, took charge and usually got the win. He dominated with a 4-0 mark and 1.62 ERA in 5 starts. The gifted Lifegivers star pitched 39 innings, fanned 46 and held opposing teams to a .221 average. For his outstanding mound performance Williams was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. To date this season, Williams has registered 5 starts, 4-0 won-lost mark, 1.62 ERA, 39 IP, 46 strikeouts and 10 walks. Opposing teams have hit .221 against him. SL Pitcher - The South League named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to Steven Themet of Watertown Armorers, who impressed the voters with a glittering 6-0 record in August. The Watertown star hurler made 6 starts, allowed 36 hits in 43 innings, struck out 53 and had a 3.98 ERA. To date this season Themet has compiled a 12-3 record with a 4.54 ERA in 17 starts. BYDL Playoffs It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Spectacle Island Specters, that meant the Boston Youth Development League Boston Youth Series trophy. The Specters took a 6-4 victory over the Kendall Hospital Yahoos at Spectacle Island Ballpark, winning their 3rd championship after taking the series 3-2. "We've got grit," said Specters center fielder Rusty Raider, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to." The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the South Region Crispus Attucks Division and a 49-28 record. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711072186 |
September 2307
I confused myself of where I was in the season on September 2, so I was off on a few things, including Cocoa's record rate since he had played 110, not 105 games, at that time. Well, we'll see what he breaks.
Since I confused myself, I did not grab the standings. They contain current playoff spoilers if I just put it on the correct date, so I'll just do a background post of where they were with 10 left to play. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1623123150 BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 September 2307 Playoff Race NCA 1. z-Sunshine Tidings 68-42 2. z-Easy Town 67-43 3. z-Nordhagen Beach 67-43 4. That means the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are also in the running for the #1 seed, tied with the Assaultrons for 1st place in the Brotherhood League. The Trons lead the season series over the Boys, 7-2. However, in their last matchup this season, it could be for the league crown. Starlight and County Crossing appear to be the other two teams that will make the playoffs. Bunker Hill and Salem have no room for error, needing to win most of the rest and hope that the Bugs go cold. SCA 1. x-Roxbury 74-36 2. z-University Point 69-41 3. Jamaica Plain 62-48 4. Roxbury has been struggling as of late, now on a five-game losing streak. That has allowed University Point to gain some ground but we doubt they will close the five-game gap with 10 to play. The Deathclaws are in position to clinch the Minutemen League soon, so they will have the #2 seed at worse. Quincy is the only team that has a chance to move into the playoffs. They would need to win their series against Spectacle Island this week and then do better than the Reapers the rest of the way. Jamaica Plain and Oberland are likely to be #s 3 and 4. Players of the Week 8/26 - Oren Gep of the Starlight Killers put the finishing touch on an exceptional week of play by being named the North Charles Association Player of the Week. He rocked the opposition with a .556 batting average, 10 hits in 18 at-bats, 5 home runs and 9 RBIs while scoring 8 times. Thus far this season Gep is hitting .291 with 36 home runs, 105 RBIs and 84 runs scored. He has 107 hits in 368 at-bats and has played in 105 games. One of the league's most exciting young players, Magnum Peaeye of the Diamond City Swatters earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 22-year-old right fielder had a lofty .522 average (12-for-23), collecting 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 2 runs scored. So far this season Peaeye is hitting .349 with 29 home runs, 90 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has 147 hits in 421 at-bats and a .391 OBP. 9/2 - Baktu DaWell of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists had a fantastic week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the North Charles Association. For the week DaWell batted .500 (10-for-20) with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. So far this year DaWell has hit .361 with 44 home runs, 98 RBIs and 93 runs scored. This week's best performer in the South Charles Association was third baseman Diamond Ball of the Spectacle Island Reapers. He slashed out a .500 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Ball stroked 12 hits in 24 at-bats and 7 home runs, drove in 13 runs and scored 9 times. So far this season Ball is batting .355 with 37 home runs, 98 RBIs and 86 runs scored. He has 156 hits in 440 at-bats, 60 walks and a .428 OBP. Ball has played in 110 games. They polished off the Echo Lake Harbormen in the decisive game 11-2 to capture the series 4-0. At the postgame press conference, the winning manager Jimmy Straw commented, "This is the reason you play this game. To get this trophy says you are not only the best team in your league, you are the best from several leagues. It is a very special feeling to win this Season Pass Association trophy." The Ghoulrillas won the 3rd pennant to qualify for the overall crown. They lost to Dalton Farm in their last two attempts to win the SPS. Cherry compiled a record of 60-30 in the South Bradberton Division during the regular season. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711140384 Cherry Advances to Season Pass Series, Wins in 7 With a 5-0 win over the Grape Painted Ghouls at Grandchester Mystery Mansion Park today, the Cherry Ghoulrillas wrapped up their 3rd title in team history. The Ghoulrillas left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Cherry manager Jimmy Straw. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Cherry celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Grape manager Malik Christmasstory said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711140384 https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1642276022 Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 9 September 2307 Harbormen Prevail, Win Second Vim! Series With a 9-4 win over the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales tonight at The Lumber Yard, the Echo Lake Harbormen wrapped up their 2nd title in team history. Echo Lake left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Harbormen celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Echo Lake manager Juan Rodriguez. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Echo Lake celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works. "We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Echo Lake Harbormen," the mayor said. The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Vim! League Fog Division and a 52-38 record. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711140384 MDIL's Nucleus Wins 3rd Straight Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2307, as the Nucleus Radchickens topped the Eagle's Cove Harpooners 7-4 tonight at The Show to win the Mount Desert Island Series. It was the 3rd title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Nucleus third baseman Fluffy Featherstone, who was named series MVP. The Radchickens took the series 4-3. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Small Bertha Division and a 54-36 record. Nucleus manager Radlick Williams grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Featherstone's words. "Fluffy said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said. Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come. |

BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 12 September 2307 NCA, SCA Races Mostly Settled Except . . . Going into the final week of the regular season, most of the races are settled. All we have left are the following scenarios: BL - Easy Town leads Nordhagen Beach by a game as they meet on the Beach in the battle for the 2307 BL crown. The Assaultrons win the league outright with a series win, the Boys win outright with a series sweep, and the teams play a 4th game in Easy Town if the Party Boys win two of three. The winner of the BL will be the #1 seed in the NCA since there are no scenarios where Sunshine Tidings would have a better record. ML - There are two scenarios here. One is for the probable 3rd seed in the SCA. Should Jamaica Plain falter against University Point and Spectacle Island handles Goodneighbor, then the Reapers would finish in 2nd place in the league. The Reapers would need to finish a game up to earn that spot. They enter the weekend a game back. The second scenario is this. Should the Reapers get swept by the Hancocks and Quincy sweeps Atom, the Gunners would be the #5 team. If they finish tied, Spectacle Island would host Quincy in a winner-take-all playoff game. NCA - Sunshine Tidings is the #2 seed. Starlight is the #4 seed and will host #5 County Crossing. SCA - Roxbury is the #1 seed, and University Point is the #2 seed. Oberland has clinched a spot and will likely be the #4 seed unless they sweep FHE and finished tied with Spectacle Island with Jamaica Plain the #5 seed, In that case, the T-51s could be the #3 team. |
Doh! I messed up again and forgot to schedule the tiebreaker game. Oh well. I guess the season series matters. Maybe I should just let that be. Let OOTP do its thing.
BTW, the "Break ties with tiebreaker games" box is checked, but OOTP does not schedule that game for some reason. |
Looking for inspiration for new players for coming seasons, so I went down the rabbit hole. OMG, I want to write a book soon!

BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 16 September 2307 CBO Analysis The 2307 regular season has ended with 10 teams ready to move on to the playoffs for their chance to win the Sole Survivor Series. NCA 1. Easy Town 2. Sunshine Tidings 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Starlight 5. County Crossing We do not have a favorite going into the playoffs other than to say that any of these teams could find themselves in the big series. Easy Town was not able to hold on to the BL lead yet again, but the CBO will not play a tiebreaker game with the Assaultrons owning the season series against Nordhagen Beach, 8-4. We will preview the Play-in Round in our next update, but we would put most of our money on County Crossing, which went 32-21 since July 1. SCA 1. Roxbury 2. University Point 3. Jamaica Plain 4. Oberland 5. Spectacle Island Nothing changed in place in the last week of the season with Spectacle Island earning their way in and only having a loss on the last day of the season keeping them from being the 3rd seed. Roxbury has not been as dominant in the second half of the season, going 30-23 after July 1, as opposed to 51-16 from April through June. The loss of RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.337/6/47/14 SB) for the playoffs, though Sum Downie (.260/24/78), who started most of the season at 1B, can fill in for him nicely. 1B Duncan MacCready (.240/3/27) will get his chance to start again in the playoffs. CBO Standings https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711198656 CBO Statistics We do not know what might happen in the future. We do know that 1B Barker Cocoa is an official legend and should head up any talks about a Hall of Fame. Cocoa set eight single-season records, which we will show below, and came up just short in the home run records (60 vs record of 61). Records set: AVG - .420 OBP - .558 SLG - .914 OPS - 1.471 R - 130 TB - 380 RBI - 155 WAR - 12.35 https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711198656 Cocoa also is the CBO's first Triple Crown winner, winning the average, home run, and RBI crowns for the 2037 season. MML Playoffs In the Massachusetts Minor Series, the Abernathy Adamantium (BH) lead the Glowing Sea Radscorpions (Atom) two games to one in the best-of-seven series. Abernathy 3, Everett 2 After their 11-4 win today at Abernathy Farm Field over the Everett Mutant Hounds, the Abernathy Adamantium will advance to the Massachussetts Minor Series. Abernathy won the series by a 3-2 margin. Leading the way for the Adamantium was left fielder Skinny Danner, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The Abernathy Adamantium will play against the Glowing Sea Radscorpions in the next round. Glowing Sea won their series against the Boston Common Lead Bellies 3 games to 1. The Massachussetts Minor Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. Glowing Sea 3, Boston Common 1 Yip Yick Ping sparked his Glowing Sea Radscorpions past the pesky Boston Common Lead Bellies in a closely-contested League Championship Series. Glowing Sea topped Boston Common 8-7 at Kittery Point Grounds to decide the series, 3-1 For his efforts, Ping was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .294 batting average, 5 RBIs and 1 runs scored. "You never want to leave anything on the field," Ping said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win." The Glowing Sea Radscorpions don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Everett Mutant Hounds - Abernathy Adamantium series. Abernathy leads the series 2 games to 1. The Massachussetts Minor Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. BMU Playoffs The Plymouth Pilgrims (Egr) were good enough to get past the Mystic Pines Raybathers (Obe) at Wattz Park today and secure the 1st championship in franchise history. "When you wear Pilgrims on your shirt, you're good at something," Plymouth skipper Frank Hermit told the press. Pilgrims center fielder Hillyer Bryan was named MVP of the series after he went .450 with 1 home run and 4 runs batted in. "It feels totally incredible," Bryan said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment." The new champions capped off a great season with a 7-5 victory over the Raybathers to win the Boston Minor Series 3-2. GBRL Playoffs The Watertown Armorers (FHE) pulled out all the stops tonight, winning the Rookie Series in a hard-fought series with the Tenpines Bluff Manta Men (JP). It was a seesaw affair, but with a 4-2 victory at Kauffman Stadium, Watertown lay claim to the franchise's 1st championship. "There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Bat Limato. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today." The champs finished the regular season 63-25 and claimed first place in the South League Southwest Division. A victory parade is set to be scheduled in Watertown in the days to come. |

On another note, I didn't want to commit because this season they're both bottom teams, but for Far Harbor I think I'd want to support either Nat Park or Acadia.

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 September 2307 CBO Playoff Tree https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711244155 CBO Playoff Play-In Series Preview NCA Playoffs - #5 County Crossing Bloodbugs (64-56) vs #4 Starlight Killers (65-55) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711244155 Season Series Starlight 7, County Crossing 1 April 16-17 @Star: Star 5-4, Star 7-4 June 4-5 @CC: Star 6-5, Star 5-2 June 18-19 @Star: Star 10-3, Star 6-5 September 10-11 @CC: Star 2-1, CC 6-5 Analysis For County Crossing, they are in their seventh-straight playoff appearance, overcoming those first five seasons where they were nowhere close. Last season was the ultimate season for the Bloodbugs as they topped Roxbury in seven games to win their first Sole Survivor Series. Meanwhile, Starlight is making their 6th playoff appearance and second straight as the #4 seed. In their matchups this season, there were several close games, though the Killers took seven of eight to be the Bugs' second biggest enemy on the season. They combined to go 1-15 against both Starlight and Sunshine Tidings, accounting for their lower finish in 2307. The Bugs had some of their same dominant performers on offense, but they were not as successful throughout the lineup, finishing 3rd in the SCA in runs scored (611). Of course, three players are absolute nightmares for the opposing pitchers: RF Babs Rooth (.328/49/105), 1B Zeldolph Violet (.281/36/101), and SS Cy Thompson (.325/30/72). They struggled at the back end of their lineup, including especially C Jimjames LaFleur (.269/3/40) and 2B Newscap Waldorf (.229/4/18). Pitching struggled, too, finishing 6th in runs allowed (523) and Starters ERA (4.16), though the bullpen did well (3.78) to finish 1st in ERA. Their most successful pitcher was College Luckyman (15-12, 3.52) who should start Game 1. Ace Gavin Everitts (9-12, 4.01) and SP Matt Hope (9-10, 4.00) ended up with losing records. Everitts broke a seven-year streak of 12+ wins, including a NCA-best 19 in 2306. CL Wick Prater (18 SV, 2.43) led the bullpen but split time as the closer with RP Bobby Carvajal (15 SV, 2.64). Starlight seems like an anomaly, not being outstanding in any category except stolen bases (1st at 73). On offense, they were 6th in runs scored (593) and 8th in batting average (.253). They were led by 1B Oren Gep (.271/37/109) who generated offense for them, and CF Glenn Higinbotham (.275/24/78/19 SB) supported him. SS Nick Maris (.287/10/36) served as a good leadoff hitter. Surprisingly, their pitching fared worse. They were 7th in runs allowed (524), including 4th in Starters ERA (4.00) and 9th in Bullpen ERA (4.83). The top two pitchers were good: SP Digger Vadim (15-7, 3.25) and SP Bill Sarnacki (13-8, 3.64). In the bullpen, CL Ryan Mills (34, 3.27) tied for the NCA lead in saves. RP Quest Dawg (3-1, 3.20) should offer some bullpen help before his expected move to being a full-time starter in 2308. Prediction While Starlight owned County Crossing in the regular season, this is the playoffs and the good teams usually show what they got. We do not believe the Killers have the instinct to win in the playoffs just yet, while we do not see the Bloodbugs folding. We're going to pick the Bugs to take both games in Starlight and get the sweep, 2-0. SCA Playoffs - #5 Spectacle Island Reapers (65-55) vs #4 Oberland T-51s (64-56) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711244155 Season Series Spectacle Island 4, Oberland 4 April 21-22 @SI: Obe 7-5, SI 5-2 June 11-12 @Obe: SI 3-2, Obe 9-7 July 2-3 @SI: Obe 15-4, SI 6-3 September 10-11 @Obe: Obe 10-4, SI 5-0 Analysis Spectacle Island is making its 4th playoff appearance, including its second straight as the Reapers. While they were the Minutemen League champions in 2306, they fell to 3rd place in 2307. Oberland is making only its second full CBO playoff appearance of all time and 4th total. The T051s were in the playoffs in 2296-2298, including a Sole Survivor Series championship over Nordhagen Beach in 2297. Both teams were pretty even in the regular season, each winning four games with all four series a split. That seems promising for a back-and-forth series this time. This is their second matchup in a playoff series. In 2298, the #2 seed T-51s won over the #3 Warwick Mirelurks, 3-1. For the Reapers, they struggled a lot on offense except for home runs (180) where they were 2nd in the SCA. Basically, they are a boom-or-bust power team, which is their downfall against groundball pitchers. They were 7th in runs scored (587) and 8th in average (.269). The Big Three do what they do, though those numbers are minuscule to their 2306 numbers: LF Judas Stoner (.272/35/81), 3B Diamond Ball (.354/40/109), and 1B Homestay Lovetap (.275/38/88). SS Pipewrench Mathis (.286/20/65) also added some pop from the 7th spot. The pitching was bit better, finishing 4th in runs allowed (552), 5th in Starters ERA (4.42), and 6th in Bullpen ERA (4.61). The Reapers' ace, SP Justin Sumbich (10-15, 4.79) was their least successful pitcher. SP Corey Ware (15-8, 3.96) was their best. In the bullpen, Alien Mars (21 SV, 4.33) and Bryan Arsonist (8 SV, 4.71) split time as closer yet again, though neither was great. RP Gary Stallworth (7-3, 2 SV, 3.24) was their best bullpen pitcher. Prediction We feel this is an even matchup, and we expect each team to take a game in Oberland. That leaves the third game in Spectacle Island where we will pick the Reapers to pull it out and move on to the next round, 2 games to 1. |

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 22 September 2307 CBO Playoff Tree https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711311613 CBO Playoff Semifinals Series Preview NCA Playoffs - #5 County Crossing Bloodbugs (64-56) vs #1 Easy Town Assaultrons (74-46) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711311613 Season Series Easy Town 8, County Crossing 4 May 10-12 @CC - ET 6-1, ET 6-3, CC 8-3 June 28-30 @ET - CC 3-0, ET 6-4, ET 9-8 August 16-18 @ET - CC 7-3, ET 9-5, ET 5-3 August 30-September 1 @CC - CC 2-1, ET 6-1, ET 5-4 Analysis Easy Town finally broke through after teasing earning their first Brotherhood League crown in team history, though they tried to lose the league crown at the end. Now, they are in their sixth playoff appearance and fourth straight. This is just the second time the Assaultrons and County Crossing will meet in the playoffs. In their only other meeting, the roles reversed with the Bloodbugs as the #1 seed and the Trons as #5. In that series, the Bugs got the sweep, 3-0, in 2304. This season, Easy Town has appeared to have all the advantages, winning 8 of 12 in the season series, which included winning two of three in all four of the three-game sets. On offense, the Assaultrons had some difficulty generating runs, finishing 5th in the NCA in runs scored (595) despite having the 3rd-best average (.276). The leader is 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson (.349/36/103) with a lot of help from 3B Dog Prairie (.294/33/90), CF Sharkey Lurkfodder (.307/17/49), and RF Dan Squirrel (.267/17/65). The pitching was the key to success in the 2307 season, finishing 1st in the NCA in runs allowed (470) and 2nd in Starters ERA (3.92) and Bullpen ERA (3.79). Tykeson (9-8, 4.65) was actually their least efficient starter, with the top two--Major Tom Brennan (15-9, 3.55) and Charred Lee Widemore (15-10, 4.34) leading the way. CL David Coocoo (28 SV, 4.74), a converted starter needs to do better, but the middle pen is stacked: Adam Forestman (2-0, 1.85), Angel Waterdrink (1-0, 2.50), and sometimes starter Hollywood Joe Horn (8-4, 3.37). Pete Pembroke (15-6, 3.59) will also pitch out of the bullpen, though he may be best served as a starter. Prediction We fall into patterns of history, both recent and past. What does County Crossing have going for them? Well, they are the defending champions and they have been a lot more successful in the playoffs than Easy Town. The Assaultrons have finally gotten over their own BL hill, but do they feel they have reached the apex? In the playoffs, pitching seems to dominate offense, but we just cannot bet against the Bloodbugs. County Crossing 3, Easy Town 1 NCA Playoffs - #3 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (74-46) vs #2 Sunshine Tidings Chemists (72-48) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711311613 Season Series Nordhagen Beach 5, Sunshine Tidings 3 May 14-15 @ST - NB 6-0, ST 2-1 May 21-22 @NB - NB 4-0, ST 6-2 June 4-5 @NB - ST 9-0, NB 4-2 August 20-21 @ST - NB 4-1, NB 5-4 Analysis Nordhagen Beach has been one of the CBO's most successful teams, now making their 11th-straight playoff appearance, including every season of the full CBO. Just when we think they are falling, they come storming right back to challenge for the best record in the NCA. Meanwhile, Sunshine Tidings is now in its fifth-straight playoff appearance and fifth overall. Despite all the times both teams have been in the playoffs, this will mark just the second time they meet. In 2304, the #3 Party Boys swept the #2 Chemists in three games. This season, Nordhagen Beach had a slight edge over Sunshine Tidings. While these two teams have been among the hottest, the Party Boys have been a bit hotter, including winning the last three regular season games in this matchup. For the Boys, they were not particularly dominant on offense though they were the best at getting on base (.359 OBP) but only 4th for runs scored (602). The two bombers were RF Jonathan Angelou (.377/42/99) and CF Maxx Murtagh (.292/39.88) with start LF Michael Fogcrawler (.291/20/48) battling injuries. C Biter Trout (.377/5/58) gets a ton of hits and finished just a point behind of the Chemists' Red Sone for top batting average in the NCA. The pitching was much better, finishing 2nd in runs allowed (494), 1st in Starters ERA (3.60), and 7th in Bullpen ERA (4.65). The four starters can all dominate a game when on: Beachboy Nut (13-4, 3.48), Deedee Martinson (14-3, 3.35), Ugio Church (9-11, 3.61), and Tommy Beach (14-7, 3.98). Beach appeared to be displacing Church before Church came on late in the season after a bad first half of the season. In the bullpen, CL David "AntAgonist" Kidd (34 SV, 4.11) tied for the NCA lead in saves. Trade acquisition Austen Austin (3-2, 3.34) would be starting for most teams, including going 15-4 with a 3.81 ERA for Easy Town just two seasons ago, but makes a good bullpen pitcher for the Boys. Sunshine Tidings exerted its offensive prowess, finishing 1st in the NCA in five categories, most notably runs scored (648) and home runs (211). Five total players finished with 20+ home runs: RF Baktu DaWell (.364/48/104), who would be the Nuka Hitter favorite if Babs Rooth was not in the NCA, 3B Ross Merchantman (.311/37/92), C Red Sone (.378/27/78), CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (.224/24/59), and LF David Seaweed (.273/21/45). 1B Jim "Avenger" Tiller (.311/9/35) hit .336 since being traded from Fort Hagen. The pitching was not as good but also not bad. The Chemists finished 3rd in runs allowed (498), 5th in Starters ERA (4.12), and 4th in Bullpen ERA (3.85). Sunshine Tidings ended up with four starters winning 12 or more games: Eugene Gym (17-10, 4.00), Mike Rubric (14-6, 3.48), Joey Dimes (13-10, 5.00), and Terrence Artman (12-6, 3.12). In the bullpen, CL Cush Baker (31 SV, 3.38) helped, as did their top bullpen pitcher Reed Botti (2-0, 1.14). Prediction Although it seems strange to pick the #2 seed to pull the "upset" over the lower seed, we are going to do just that. We are going to pick it to go the distance but for the Chemists. Sunshine Tidings 3, Nordhagen Beach 2. SCA Playoffs - #5 Spectacle Island Reapers (65-55) vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox (81-39) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711311621 Season Series Spectacle Island 4, Roxbury 4 April 18-19 @Rox - Rox 7-2, Rox 4-3 June 18-19 @SI - SI 9-8, Rox 4-3 July 9-10 @Rox - Rox 8-4, SI 5-1 August 27-28 @SI - SI 8-4, SI 4-0 Analysis Spectacle Island did what it needed to do, holding off Oberland in a series sweep. Roxbury is now making its sixth-straight playoff appearance with back-to-back titles in 2303 and 2304. The Reapers and Sox's only matchup in the playoffs came last season when #3 Roxbury took the series from #2 Spectacle Island, 3-1. This season, the teams played to a 4-4 split with the Reapers winning the last three matchups, including a needed sweep in late August. While Spectacle Island has held its own, the playoffs are a different beast where Roxbury tends to be fierce. Roxbury was not the most dominant offensive team, but they are still dangerous. The Rad Sox finished 2nd in the SCA in runs scored (664) and 3rd in average (.278). They did not have any great power hitters but four players hit over 20 home runs: CF Ben Pawlak (.300/27/86), 3B Don Mattingley (.294/25/76), RF Sum Downie (.260/24/78), and LF Young Goodman (.294/23/84). They will miss the services of RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.337/6/47/14 SB), who is out with a thumb injury. The pitching was quite a bit better, finishing 1st in runs allowed (499) and Bullpen ERA (3.44) and 3rd in Starters ERA (4.18). All three starters for the playoffs--Nuke Laloosh (13-2, 2.99), Urm Rehfeldt (12-5, 3.93), and Chet Arthur (15-9, 4.09)--are capable of shutting down the opposing offense. CL Andy Helium (37 SV, 2.69) was his usual self, with lots of help from Evan Before (3-0, 2.95) and Pray Tell (3-0, 2.28). Prediction Roxbury may have been a little cold in the second half of the season, going only 30-23 since June 1, but they are still the CBO's best team. We think that Spectacle Island could have some fight, but we'll take the Sox in four. Roxbury 3, Spectacle Island 1. SCA Playoffs - #3 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (66-54) vs University Point Deathclaws (76-44) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1711311621 Season Series Jamaica Plain 7, University Point 5 June 21-23 @JP - JP 19-5, UP 8-2, UP 7-4 July 12-14 @UP - JP 6-5, JP 3-2, JP 5-0 September 6-8 @UP - JP 10-6, UP 6-0, UP 6-2 September 13-15 @JP - UP 4-2, JP 6-5, JP 9-0 Analysis Jamaica Plain is making its seventh playoff appearance and fourth-straight. They have made it past this round just twice, losing in the SCA Championship Series each time, including a seven-game thriller against University Point in 2302. The Deathclaws are making their eight-straight playoff appearance, with Sole Survivor Series victories in 2302 and 2305. In the playoffs, these teams have met five times before, including the past three seasons, with the Red Rockets taking three of those series. Interestingly enough, the two series victories for the Claws propelled them on their way to both of the Sole Survivor Series championships. The results: 2300 - Play-in Series - Jamaica Plain 2, University Point 1 2302 - SCA CS - University Point 4, Jamaica Plain 3 2304 - SCA SF - Jamaica Plain 3, University Point 2 2305 - SCA SF - University Point 3, Jamaica Plain 0 2306 - SCA Play-In Series - Jamaica Plain 2, University Point 0 For this matchup, Jamaica Plain had the advantage in the season series currently and the playoffs historically. University Point only had one losing record against an SCA team in 2307: the Rockets. Does that mean the advantage may be in Jamaica Plain's corner? Well, it just may! The Red Rockets finished 4th in runs scored (617) in the SCA. They are led by the triple threat of LF Ken Debate (.315/34/82), CF Hid Matsumoto (.239/25/65), and 2B Bulleye Shooterson (.319/24/77). SS jake Doucette (.310/19/59/10 SB) is a good leadoff hitter. Jamaica Plain was 2nd in the SCA in runs allowed (506), Starters ERA (4.15), and Bullpen ERA (3.99). Derek Green (16-7, 3.55) and Tim Fusion (14-11, 4.16) led the starters, while CL Doug Dee El (22 SV, 2.39) and RP Chris Glass House (1-1. 2.90) led the bullpen. University Point was killer on offense, giving them a good chance to outscore any team they play. The Deathclaws were first in runs scored (697) at 5.8 per game. They also hit a CBO-best 204 home runs. Everything revolves around of all-everything hitter Barker Cocoa (.421/60/155), but teams still cannot relax with any player in the lineup. Other top hitters for the Claws include CF Aesed Hayjen (.342/27/103), SS Austin Engill (.257/32/66), and LF Chris Hirshfield (.281/24/72). The pitching is overshadowed but was also good, including finishing 3rd in runs allowed (512), 1st in Starters ERA (4.08), and 4th in Bullpen ERA (4.18). Alex Alexson (17-6, 3.43) and Tony Bertha (17-8, 2.94) were dominant for most of the season, and Wilson Beachball (12-5, 4.94) had plenty run support to help him. CL Chase Southie (34 SV, 3.77) led the bullpen, along with contributions from Marc Pondsip (4-3, 2.73) and Josh Hugs (3-0, 2.52). Prediction We like how Jamaica Plain rallied from looking as though they would miss the playoffs to pushing themselves all the way up to the third seed. However, we like the Claws in the playoffs as our prediction to win it all. It will not be easy for them, but we expect University Point 3, Jamaica Plain 2. |
