Sunday, October 15, 2073 STALLIONS WIN 2 ROAD GAMES, MAY SWEEP PRO CUP-FAVORED WHITE RIVER The South Fork Stallions have blistered White River twice on the Rascals' home diamond and are thinking the "unthinkable" - sweeping the Pro Cup favorite... South Fork edged White River 8-7 Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in the Tycobbian Union Title Round... one more win in the best-of-five affair and it's on to the Pro Cup Series for the Stallions... one more defeat for the Rascals and it's all over for them for the season. The Ruthlandian Union Title Series is still going strong... Valmara nipped the Valka Blackhawks 5-4 and deadlocked that series at one game each. Both series will now change venues... games 3 and 4 will be hosted by the Blackhawks and South Fork will be the site of at least game 3 of the TU Title Series... if White River stays alive with a victory, the Stallions will again be the home team... if needed, game 5 is slated for White River Stadium. 2073 IPA Postseason Playoffs Stars of the Games Attachment 849093 Attachment 849094 Attachment 849095 Attachment 849096 |

Monday, October 16, 2073 PRO CUP HOPES STILL ALIVE FOR WHITE RIVER, VALKA TAKES LEAD IN RU TITLE SERIES The Pro Cup-favored White River Rascals were on the verge of elimination in the Tycobbian Union Title Round with redhot South Fork, but the Rascals turned it on and played like champs in game 3, coming away with an 8-1 victory to keep their slight chance alive... White River will get another day in the IPA playoffs. In the Ruthlandian Union Title clash, the Valka Blackhawks slammed the Valmara Vipers 7-0 in the 3rd game of the series to go up to a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five affair. South Fork and Valka will try to finish White River and Valmara off in game 4 with the home-field advantage.... should they lose, then the advantage switches to the Rascals and Vipers, who will get game 5 on their diamonds. 2073 IPA Postseason Playoff Stars of the Games Attachment 849348 Attachment 849349 Attachment 849350 Attachment 849351 |

Really hope so... it was fantastic dynasty... the best ever in my opinion... wonderful backstory, excellent website, well-organized, well-administered... I loved the newspaper with writeups and reports on each team... and the team graphics were special, too... it was all a great dynastyr should be. I'll be following Dark Horse's Geo Bahn Rock Hounds. Keep me abreast of the LSA... I will be certain to follow it. I don't use financials in my games... I would be lost in an on-line league... plus I don't know the inner workings of OOTP... I just create a league and then watch it play out and report on it. |

I have seen it pull a pitcher with a shutout and less than 100 pitches when he wasn't tired... so he would lose his shutout. |
I used to sim the first 6 innings of my postseason playoffs... but soon learned that the AI would pull a starter that was doing a good job too soon too often... so I began to sim for the first 5 innings.
With the animation for the last few versions, I now play out the entire game and make all substitutions... also control most of the offense and baserunning... I let the AI handle defense. |

Tuesday, October 17, 2073 STALLIONS VS BLACKHAWKS IN 2073 IPA PRO CUP SERIES Two dark horses are butting heads for this year's Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Trophy... the South Fork Stallions and Valka Blackhawks did it with some fine hitting and some standout pitching that disposed of higher-touted opponents... South Fork won the Tycobbian Union title by upsetting the #1 Pro Cup pick, the White River Racscals... and Valka nabbed the Ruthlandian Union title from the highly-respected Valmara Vipers... and they did it in impressive fashion, taking the series 3 games to one. In games four South Fork won an intense pitching duel 3-1 over White River and Valka won a 3-2 thriller from Valmara... the Stallions will be going for their 3rd Pro Cup in the team's history... the Blackhawks are seeking their first-ever IPA crown... this is the first time Valka has reached the Pro Cup Finals. 2073 IPA Playoff Stars of the Games Attachment 849634 Attachment 849635 Attachment 849636 Attachment 849637 |

Another big plus, my team would have good logos, jerseys and caps... yep, that's for sure, that's for darn sure... my team might be pretty on the field and yet play "ugly"... yep, 54 wins and 100 losses each year wouldn't cut the mustard.. But the biggest thing that would keep me from joining the Laseron Baseball Association is my computer Illiteracy... you have to be into technology to be in an online league. |

Wednesday, October 18, 2073 PRO CUP SERIES -- WINNER TAKES ALL -- THE IPA PRO CUP TROPHY The baseball journey for the South Fork Stallions and the Valka Blackhawks will soon come to an end... it's just over the horizon... one will succeed... and one will almost succeed, yet come in second... this spiritual journey is in quest of the Holy Grail of Islandia -- the sacred Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Trophy -- it only comes around once a year and the Islands are enthralled, enthused and elated by it... South Fork has won the prize twice, 2025 and 2042... Valka has never won the Pro Cup... never even came close... the Stallions have made the postseason 10 times and the Blackhawks on 7 occasions... this will be the 73rd edition of the Pro Cup Series... the Tycobbian Union leads the Ruthlandian Union 40 to 32 in the annual clashes. Only the best of the best make it here... the IPA Pro Cup Series begins this Friday afternoon in South Fork at Jock Ewing Stadium... the Stallions (97-57) will welcome the Blackhawks (95-59) for the first two encounters... games three and four (if needed) will be at Cybertel Park in Valka... should it be necessary, game five will be played in South Fork. South Fork is the pick of the Pro Cup pundits... the biggest thing going for the Stallions is the fact that they beat last year's Pro Cup winner in round one, the Turon Typhoons, 3 games to 2... and won the TU crown by taking this year's Pro Cup favorite, the White River Rascals, 3 games to 1... South Fork also has the best starters and hits with more power... neither team has a dominant starter or reliever... Mark Meisner (16-9/3.31 ERA) is 37, in his 17th season and nearing retirement, but he has has a rebirth this year in the postseason (3-1/0.79 ERA)... he is the only ace on either team... South Fork's other starters are a slight notch above Valka's... the bullpens are pretty much even... long reliever Ramsey Crowe (12-11/4.70 ERA/10 saves/27 G) and closer Slinger Sowers (9-6/3.62 ERA/9 saves/53 games) have done the job well in the playoffs for the Stallions... if #2 starter Billy Lake (12-11/3.46 ERA) and #3 starter Skippy Simmons (10-4/2.20 ERA) can win a game between them, maybe the great Meisner has 2 more wins in him. Valka must have something going for them, too... the Blackhawks whipped two solid teams 3 out of 4 games, topping Eastshore in round one and Valmara in the RU Title Series... how far Valka goes depends on its starters... none of them can match South Fork... 8-year veteran Bud Selvy (16-7/3.45 ERA) beat Valmara twice in the playoffs... Selvy needs help from the other two starters, Johnny Bakoyannis (11-11/4.86 ERA) and the little-used Kris Sheehan (5-0/3.18 ERA)... Boyd Spenser (6-7/3.56 ERA/7 saves/38 games) has been the only effective reliever in the postseason... Dorsey Burnette (14-2/2.47 ERA/11 saves/73 games) has to do the job, too... what a series it would have been if the Blackhawks had injured starters Priit Laur and Carlos Santa Ana?... they will also be without left fielder Olev Kotli (148 G/.301 BA/19 HR/83 RBI/111 R/41 SB), a solid hitter and defender... they lost Santa Ana (3-2/2.17 ERA) in late May... Laur (13-9/3.39 ERA) was lost in the first round... he beat Eastshore 7-2, but hurt his knee in the game... reliever Charley Clutterbuck was also injured in the Valmara series... Kotli played the first 5 games of the playoffs and hit .308 with 6 RBIs... he tore a ligament in his thumb... despite the critical losses, Valka must still be doing something right... they beat two good teams to reach the Pro Cup Series. Valka can put runs on the scoreboard... they batted .303 in 8 games with 48 runs and 7 homers... but the Blackhawks did not face pitching like South Fork did... Turon and White River are two of the best mound corps in the IPA... the Stallions hit only .236 with 5 roundtrippers and 36 runs... however, their pitchers compiled a fine 2.83 ERA... Valka posted a 4.22 ERA and permitted only 3 home runs... Eastshore and Valmara have good hitting teams that score a lot of runs. If Meisner and company can keep the Blackhawk bats down, they should win in 5 games... whichever team gets best pitching will win the 2073 Pro Cup. South Fork is hoping to win its 3rd IPA Pro Cup Trophy, while Valka is in quest of its very first one... South Fork won both games on their home diamond... Valka will be the site of the game three, and if necessary, game four, too... should it be needed, game five will be back at Jock Ewing Stadium in South Fork. 2073 Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Series - Game 2 Stars of the Game Attachment 850376 Attachment 850377 Attachment 850381 Attachment 850382 |

Monday, October 22, 2073 SOUTH FORK SWEEPS VALKA, NABS 3RD IPA PRO CUP In 2042 the South Fork Stallions raced to victory and won the club's second Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Trophy... 31 years later, the Stallions did it again, winning their 3rd Pro Cup... South Fork is the 2073 IPA champion... they defeated the Valka Blackhawks in three straight hotly-contested game to nab the coveted award... the Stallions finished off the scrappy Blackhawks 5-3 in the third game of the best-of-five series... though the Blackhawks tried valiantly this season, Valka still hasn't ever won a Pro Cup. South Fork also swept in 4 games in the best-of-seven series in 2042, led by pitcher Jay Murphy, the Tycobbian Union Golden Arm that season with a 25-7 record and a super low 1.90 ERA... in the playoffs Murphy was 5-3 with a 3.98 ERA in 8 starts... he won 2 games in the Pro Cup Finals... Murphy is the current skipper of the Stallions... Murphy remembered that golden year of 2042... Monday, October 23, 2073 SOUTH FORK'S MEISNER ACCLAIMED MVP IN IPA PLAYOFFS So many South Fork players deserved credit for winning the Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Trophy... it's really and truly was a team effort, but only one player really stood out... that was 37-year-old superstar pitcher Mark Meisner... the 17-year veteran was acclaimed the top performer in the 2073 IPA Pro Cup playoffs by The Islandian Times in a poll of the major sportswriters and broadcasters across the Islands... it was a special award coming in the twilight of his great career... he may be nearing retirement, but Meisner is still King of the Hill... he strutted his stuff again this year... Meisner outpolled his teammates and pitching cohorts Ramsey Crowe and Slinger Sowers as well as position players Mal Galbreath, Charlie Hayden and Jarrod Logan for the best postseason player honor. Meisner posted 3 important victories in the postseason and lost only one game with a 1.93 ERA in 5 starts... he beat Turon 5-1 in round one and topped White River twice in round two, 4-1 and 3-1... his only defeat came as the hands of Turon 2-1. Crowe was big part of the South Fork Pro Cup run... he made 5 relief appearances in the playoffs with a 2-0 mark and a 1.46 ERA in 12 innings of pitching... Sowers also played a vital role, too... he came on in relief 4 times, worked 8 innings and did not allow a run... no one batter stood out in the postseason... it really was a team effort... in 12 games left fielder Mal Galbreath led the club with 16 hits and a .320 BA, drove in 5 runs and scored 8 times... center fielder Charlie Hayden contributed 13 hits for a .310 BA with 4 ribbies and 4 runs... and catcher Jarrod Logan swatted 13 hits, batted .295 and had 7 RBIs and scored 5 runs. Mark Meisner spent his first 14 seasons with the Claxton Diamonds in the Ruthlandian Union... he led them to an upset win in the 2064 Pro Cup Series when Claxton eclipsed powerhouse Rolling Hills in 7 games... the Diamonds also forced the Racers to 7 games before losing in the 2069 Pro Cup Series... Meisner came to South Fork in a trade in 2071... he had a solid season this year with a 16-9 record and a 3.31 ERA... lifetime Meisner is 202-93 with a splendid 2.57 ERA... he should be a shoo-in for the IPA Hall of Fame. |

Congratulations to South Fork! I see that they won in 2042 and 2073. What year was their first championship?
|
jg2977, here are the recaps of the 2025 season and each round of the playoffs.
South Fork was managed by the outspoken and sometimes controversial Deloche "Lips" Leon... notice he predicted the Stallions would win the Pro Cup after upsetting Pro Cup favorite Rolling Hills Reds in the first round. YESTERDAY IN THE IPA The Islandian Times Monday, September 22, 2025 2025 Tycobbian East Final Recap South Fork Shocks Tucks, Wins TU East It was a shocker in the Tycobbian East this season... The South Fork Stallions have always been perennial also-rans... 23 years without a pennant... no postseason since 2002... after a sixth-place finish last season, no one expected it to change in 2025 either... most everybody thought it be pretty much the same this year... everybody but the Stallions... They stunned the heavily-favored Tuckanarra Blue Jays with a fantastic second-half run to win the TU East by 3 games... the strong Midway Wolves came in third and 6 games back with Hillsboro fourth in the standings, 10 games out of first... six teams wound up .500 or better in the very strong TU East. 1st - South Fork Stallions (96-58)... sixth last year (69-85)... Deloche "Lips" Leon had a lot to talk about this year as his South Fork Stallions won more games than anybody in the IPA... an influx of 5 rookies made the difference... they started off slowly and trailed Midway by 6 games in May and 5 games in June... Pro Cup champ Tuckanarra took over and led them by 9 in July... but the Stallions went an astounding 44-13 the next two months to go up by 2 games over the Blue Jays by September... South Fork is a well-balanced ball club with a .261 BA (5th), 3rd in scoring and 12th with 136 roundtrippers... on the mound they had a 3.14 team ERA (4th)... they are just average defensively with a .971 FA... Gary Price (22-14 2.95) and rookie Bill Massey (21-10 2.99) sparked the rotation with help from two more freshmen Jim Tettelbach (17-12 3.63) and Ozz Gatsby (19-9 3.73)... solid vet LF Patric Giles led the team with 28 homers, 94 RBIs and 114 runs, while hitting .291... 1B Teddy Nixon added a .307 BA, 10 home runs, 64 RBIs and 77 runs... rookies SS Kurt Pankewitz (.267/11/68/66) and 3B Mark Barker (.287/7/45/53) also contributed with their bats and gloves... South Fork's triumph was no fluke... Tuckanarra and Midway never gave up, they were just outplayed. The Islandian Times Tuesday, September 30, 2025 Tettelbach Brilliant, SF Wins Series "Hey, we won 96 games... we didn't get lucky."... That was manager Duroche "Lips" Leon's comments after his South Fork Stallions whipped the favored Rolling Hills Reds and captured the TU Elite 8 Series by a 4-2 margin... "We didn't care what the so-called experts said... we expected to win this series... and we did... and we also expect to win the Pro Cup."... Rolling Hills was rated the top seed in the Pro Cup playoffs, while the Stallions were ranked only fourth in The Islandian Times poll... In the sixth-and-deciding game at Jock Ewing Stadium in South Fork, Leon got a great performance from his number three starter Jim Tettelbach, who fired a 1-hit shutout for 8 innings and beat the Reds 1-0 with the help of closer Tommy Galloway... Galloway sat down the Reds in the ninth for his second save of the series... the winning run came in the fourth inning when LF Patric Giles (.261) hit a 435-homer off losing pitcher McGraw Christianson... Christianson (0-2 3.94) was magnificent in defeat, yielding only 4 hits, struck out 4 and walked only one... The Stallions will now go up against the fifth seeded Ginza Ninjas for the Tycobbian title. The Islandian Times Monday, October 6, 2025 SF Stallions Race By Ginza In 5 Games After losing the opening game in the Tycobbian championship series, the South Fork Stallions reeled off four victories in a row to wipe out the Ginza Ninjas... Now South Fork will battle Middlefield, the RU champ, for the Islands' Pro Cup... They lost in the second round in 2001... and in the TU Final 4 in 2002... haven't been in the playoffs since... and have never played in the Pro Cup Finals. Game 5 went to the Stallions 4-2 behind the solid pitching of rookie left-hander Bill Massey (4-0 1.86)... He tossed 8 innings, held the Ninjas to 2 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts... Ricky Raeburn closed it out with a perfect ninth for the save... Harlan Wilson (0-1 4.00) took the loss in his first start of the postseason... Wilson allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings, walking 6 and fanning 4. South Fork had 9 hits to 8 for the Ninjas... RBIs by RF Robby Michael (.256), LF Patric Giles (.225), CF Shelby Glasscock (.227) and 2B Norris Nettles (.314) gave the Stallions a 4-0 lead after 6 and a half innings... CF Lyle McCann (.333) doubled in Ginza's only runs in the seventh. The Islandian Times Thursday, October 16, 2025 2025 IPA Pro Cup Series What a Relief, South Fork Wins First Pro Cup Great relief work in the seventh game of the Pro Cup Finals paved the way for South Fork's first-ever Pro Cup victory... three Stallion relievers stopped Middlefield cold, blanking them over the final 6 innings on one hit, striking out 9 and walking only one... that gave South Fork a chance to rally from a massive 6-run deficit after 3 innings... they slowly pecked away and shaved it to 6-4 after 7 innings and then delivered the coup de grace - a 5-run explosion in the eighth, putting them ahead to stay 9-6... the big blow of the game was when PH Lou Boone crashed a 3-run triple to put South Fork ahead 7-6. Winning skipper Lips Leon exclaimed excitedly at the press conference, "Wow, that was a wild and crazy game and a wild and crazy series... to come back from a 6-0 score in game seven is fantastic... thank heavens we hit the ball today... We won the series, but got outscored... how about that!"... Both clubs averaged almost 6 runs a game with Middlefield having the edge 42-41. Just like they were the entire season, the Stallion bullpen was fabulous... Kyle Preston worked four hitless innings and fanned 4... winning pitcher Ricky Raeburn (2-0 1.98) struck out all 3 batters in his only inning and closer Tom Galloway got his 7th save with a scoreless ninth... Galloway allowed one hit and whiffed 2 batters... Working on 2 days' rest Danny Denver ran out of gas in the late innings and lost it... Denver (2-3 4.12) was tagged for 7 runs and 8 hits in 7 innings... the Stallions outhit the Roosters 12 to 9... RF Robby Michael (.296) had 3 hits, including a home run... he drove in 2 runs... 3B Ray Hershberger (.324) also batted in a pair of runs with 2 hits.... 1B Keith Yashin (.329) had a 3-run double to pace the Roosters. Losing manager Bailey Norcross was disappointed, but not down. "The Roosters had a great season... we won our division for the third year in a row and we went all the way to the finals of the Pro Cup... we whipped two fine teams in Wynnamac and Crystal Lake and we came pretty darn close to whipping another fine team... we had our chance... we were up three games to two... we just didn't do it... South Fork did... congratulations to Lips and his boys." The Islandian Times Friday, October 17, 2025 SF's Tettelbach 2025 Pro Cup MVP A 20-year-old rookie right-hander named Jim Tettelbach was honored as the IPA Pro Cup Most Valuable Player today by The Islandian Times. Tettelbach was the prime reason why the South Fork Stallions won the IPA Pro Cup for the first time in history. He was superb in the playoffs with a 4-0 record and a sparkling 1.06 ERA. Tettelbach whipped Middlefield twice in the Finals, 6-2 in game two and 6-3 in game five. He also defeated Ginza 2-0 in the TU Final 4 and Rolling Hills 1-0 in the Elite 8. During the regular season Tettelbach recorded a 17-12 mark with a 3.63 ERA. Stallion teammate Patric Giles was a distant second in the voting. Giles, a veteran left fielder, had a fine postseason with a .313 batting average, 2 homers, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Number three in the balloting was South Fork closer Tommy Galloway, who didn't allow a run in 8 relief appearances and stood out with 7 saves. Also receiving some support were two Middlefield Roosters, left fielder Floyd McClellan and first sacker Keith Yashin. McClellan batted .348 with 5 homers, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored, while Yashin hit 5 roundtrippers, drove in 15 runs and scored 15 times with a .329 average. |

Ruthlandian Union MVP Skarzynski captured the RU MVP trophy for the second straight season, beating out Volusia outfielder Lenny Larker and Taranto hurler Marcello Rossi... he sparked the Vipers to their 4th consecutive RU North Division crown... Skarzynski is just 24 years of age and a 4-year veteran... the splendid first sacker played in all 154 games with a .318 BA, 21 doubles, 4 triples, 32 homers, 122 RBI, scored 118 runs and stole 38 bases... he has excelled with a career .307 BA, 121 HR, 425 RBIs and a .400 OBP... Skarzynski is a 3-time Ruthlandian All-Star. Larker blossomed this season and paced the Vigilantes to their 3rd RU West title in the last 4 seasons... the 26-year-old left fielder batted .325 in 144 games, winding up the year with 38 doubles, 8 triples, 15 roundtrippers, 80 RBIs, 121 runs scored and 37 stolen bases. Coming in 3rd in the RU Most Valuable Player poll was Taranto's superlative southpaw Marcello Rossi... he led the Tars to second place behind Valmara in the RU North pennant race... Rossi starred with an 18-5 record and a 2.66 ERA in 30 starts... he is in his 4th season at age 24. Tycobbian Union MVP This was the first time in his 5-year career Ezzell was honored as the TU Most Valuable Player... his main competition was Chicopee's talented 20-game winner Cris Samuels and White River's slugger Lynn Elkins... Ezzell stood out over his peers with a .345 BA in 151 games, leading the Tycobbian Union with 219 hits and scoring 127 runs... at age 26 Ezzell socked 23 doubles, 13 triples, 10 homers, drove in 69 runs and stole 77 bases... he has been with the South Fork Stallions for 5 years and has led them to 2 TU East pennants so far... South Fork also capped the 2073 season with the third Pro Cup Trophy in the club's history... Ezzell is a special hitter with a lifetime .331 BA. Cris Samuels had a brilliant year for the Chicopee Braves, leading them to a 3rd-place finish in the TU West... he wound up second in the TU Golden Arm race... also came in second in wins and ERA... in his 6th year in the IPA Samuels chalked up a 20-5 mark with an extrordinary 2.05 ERA... Samuels has been a vital part of building the Braves into a pennant contender... Chicopee has long been a doormat team in the IPA... they have only made the playoffs 3 times... the last time was way back in 2038. White River third baseman Lynn Elkins was a prime reason the Rascals posted a fantastic season, winning the TU North for the 3rd time in 4 seasons... White River was a terrific 106-48 this year... Elkins played in 149 games, batted .334 with 200 hits, 24 homers, 104 RBIs, 110 runs and 22 SB... he is a 4-year veteran... sadly he was injured late in the season and did not get to play in the Pro Cup playoffs... Elkins' bat was sorely missed by the Rascals... they were favored to win it all this season. Attachment 852287 Attachment 852288 Attachment 852289 |

Still waiting to see what you'd like me to try and do for your IPA, jg2977. Please get back to me as soon as you can, and all, of course, and I'll see what I can do for you, once you do. Thank you. CD out.
Edit: Oops, meant to put this in jg2977's thread, but hit the wrong line of text here by accident, EC. In any case, I am hoping for some updates related to the Freemans in your leagues, of course, in the near future. Thank you, EC. This has been an interesting dynasty to read through the reports for here, for sure. Looking forwards to seeing how this IPA continues to develop its history, you know. CD out. |
CD, your updates on the Freeman Brothers in the IPA have been posted for 2073... you can follow them in the South Island League, too... each game's box score is posted... you can see how they are doing... there are 2 games left in the 12-game season in the South Island League.
At the end of each season in the IPA I post the Freemans stats for you. Same thing for the South Island League. See posts 1923 and 1924 in your main thread on the OOTP Mods Forum... it's the 2073 report on the Freemans. |
Okay, then I may have forgotten that bit of information, at least in regards to the IPA you run. Happens sometimes that I forget things, you know. I've been rather busy of late, after all, too, in truth.
Thanks for the reminder, EC. It is much appreciated, to be honest. I can't wait to get this new thought-vein's dynasty moving, as well, whether or not I write about it on the forums, in any case. Should be an interesting one to try and do, I think. CD out. |
CD, you can find the Freeman Brothers South Island update a few posts later down the page in your thread on the OOTP Mods and Graphics Forum.
See pages 97 and 98... posts 1923, 1924, 1927, 1944, 1945. |

TOP SKIPPERS IN THE IPA FOR 2073 HONORED The top managers get the most out of their players... and maybe a little bit more... those words describe a lot of skippers in the Islandian Pro Alliance... it is hard to narrow it down to just one manager... there were 3 or 4 worthy choices in both the Ruthlandian Union and the Tycobbian Union... this year the 2073 Manager of the Year Awards went to Matvey Kazak of the Valka Blackhawks and Marty Blake of the White River Rascals. Ruthlandian Union Kazak is the 2073 Ruthlandian Union Manager of the Year and a first-time honoree... he beat out bevy of baseball brains for the award, sparking the Valka Blackhawks to their 2nd straight RU South Division title with a 95-59 mark, taking the pennant by 10 games... Kazak outpolled two other fine skippers and previous Managers of the Year, Don Ritchie of Valmara and Tubby Tarkanian of Volusia... Kazak is fairly unique in IPA managerial circles... he came to Valka from the college ranks in 2068 to revitalize the Blackhawks and he has done just that... Valka reached the IPA Pro Cup Finals this season, but lost to the South Fork Stallions... he never played in the IPA, however Kazak won multiple collegiate titles in a legendary career at Valerian Military Academy in Valka. Don Ritchie came in second in the best-manager balloting... he has been in charge of the Valmara Vipers since 2057... during his managerial tenure the Vipers have won the RU North crown 10 times, but no Pro Cups... Ritchie was acclaimed the RU Manager of the Year on 2 occasions in 2057 and 2061... this season his Vipers improved from 97-57 to 98-56 and captured the RU North by 8 games... Ritchie was a star center fielder in his playing days for Valmara from 2041 to 2056... he was a 3-time All-Star with a lifetime .289 BA... the Vipers won the IPA Pro Cup 3 times when he was a player. Tubby Tarkanian is in his 19th year at the helm of the Volusia Vigilantes... he spent 16 years with them as a player... Tarkanian was a good defensive catcher and a modest .262 hitter... he has won the RU West 6 times and was the RU Manager of the Year in 2058 and 2070... the V's have not won a Pro Cup since 2001, but they made the Pro Cup Finals twice under Tarkanian in 2061 and 2062... in 2072 Volusia came in 3rd with a 78-76 record, 17 games behind in the pennant race... Tarkanian led them to the division flag this year with an 89-65 mark, 7 games better the Colfax Black Sox. Tycobbian Union It was an equally tough decision in the Tycobbian Union... the 2073 TU Manager of the Year was Marty Blake of the White River Rascals... last year the Rascals wound up in second place in the TU North with an 85-69 record and 9 games behind the division winner Hartsdale... lo and behold White River was 106-48 in 2073 and nabbed the pennant by a whopping 23 games over second place Mahaska... still Blake had a lot of competition from South Fork's Jay Murphy and Turon's Nate Scottsdale... they both made strong cases, too... Blake was one of the most prolific hitters in IPA history in his 23 years in the league, playing for four clubs from 2013 to 2035... Blake spent his first 18 seasons with White River... He was a 3-time Golden Glove first sacker and 7-time All-Star... Blake was voted into the Islandian Pro Alliance Hall of Fame in 2036... He ranks 6th on the all-time home-run list, 6th in hits, 4th in RBIs, 10th in scoring runs and 14th in walks... Blake took over as skipper in 2066 and quickly made an impact with 4 pennants in his 7 seasons... this is Blake's second TU Manager of the Year trophy... he also won it in 2070... Blake is 79 years young. South Fork had a marvelous season under Jay Murphy, a former star pitcher for the Stallions... Murphy has piloted the club since 2058 and won 4 TU East titles in that span of time... he has made the Stallions a regular pennant contender... this year Murphy guided South Fork to its 3rd Pro Cup Trophy... this year the Stallions improved from 3rd place and an 83-71 record to the pennant with a 97-57 season... Murphy was the ace of the 2042 Pro Cup title team... he was the Tycobbian Golden Arm winner in 2042 (25-7) and 2044 (28-7)... also captured the Tycobbian MVP in '44... overall his lifetime statistics in his 16 seasons is 250-185 with a fine 3.24 ERA. Another deserving manager of the year is Nate Scottsdale of the Turon Typhoons, who came in third this season in the Tycobbian top manager voting... this year he lifted up his club from 91-63 to 96-58 and nabbed his 4th TU South crown in a row... the only thing that might have kept his Typhoons from winning back-to-back Pro Cups was the South Fork Stallions in round one of this year's playoffs... South Fork edged Turon three games to two... Nate Scottsdale assumed the managerial reins after a standout career on the mound and immediately turned the team around in his first season 2068... Stocksdale played his entire career in Turon from 2037 to 2056... 8 times in his career he won 20 or more games... he did it 5 times in his final 6 seasons when he was in his late 30s... lifetime he was 362-277 with a 3.44 ERA... Stocksdale made the Hall of Fame in 2057. Attachment 852520 |
