CYL Playoffs

The 2310 season has completed with 24 total teams earning a spot in the postseason. The South Charles Bank Moonies, led by sophomore SP Richard Burns (12-1, 2.28) and junior CF Dude Lebowski. The Andrew Station Southies earned the top spot in the North Region with a 49-26-1 record. They were led by the efforts of senior SP Ramrod Padlock (15-3, 2.16) and senior CF Keepuh Knockin (.275/17/47).

Other division winners earning a first-round bye are the Woburn Diners, Marlborough Minigunners, Beantown Sprouts, Hope Firestarters, Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters, and Taunton Giants. The Sprouts and Giants met in last year's Commonwealth Youth Series.

In two starts with Bunker Hill, he is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA. In 14.0 IP, he has allowed three earned runs on 16 hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. I would say that is a pretty good start to a CBO career.

That's pretty good (understatement).

Ironically, I'm a pretty big vampire media fan in general too (not Twilight, but a certain subset of the horror genre. Sort of the classic vampires/zombies/werewolves as opposed to all this new age shock horror stuff).

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

27 June 2310

CBO Analysis

Do not look now, but some of the old guard has returned, including the topsy-turvy league that is the Minutemen League. Some of the traditional powers have begun to flex their muscles. Now 50 wins seem to be the elite status, while 40 wins seem to be contender status. Those under 40 wins, well, they may want to start building for 2311. Here are the current team power rankings for the Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Roxbury Rad Sox (145.2, +)
2) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (132.5, -)
3) Bunker Hill 75ers (130.4, o)
4) Oberland T-51s (114.9, o)
5) Vault 81 Dwellers (114.3, +)
6) Egret Ninjas (113.3, o)
7) Starlight Killers (113.2, ++)
8) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (112.9, +)
9) The Slog Ghouls (112.3, --)
10) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (111.7, ++)
11) Quincy Gunners (109.8, --)
12) Easy Town Assaultrons (103.1, ++)
13) Salem Witch Hats (100.7, -)
14) Spectacle Island Reapers (92.7, +)
15) University Point Deathclaws (91.1, --)
16) County Crossing Bloodbugs (86.7, -)
17) Nahant Celtics (81.3, -)
18) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (78.2, +)
19) Goodneighbor Hancocks (72.8, o)
20) Malden Grognaks (72.4, +)
21) FHE Yao Guai (70.1, ++)
22) Diamond City Swatters (67.2, --)
23) Lexington Synths (66.8, +)
24) Atom Cats (63.7, -)
25) Concord Radstags (61.1, o)
26) Southie Brews (49.8, --)
27) Cambridge Coursers (29.0, +)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (27.6, -)

Brotherhood League

Nordhagen Beach was the CBO's hottest team, having won 12 straight before dropping three straight, including two to Malden. Speaking of the Grognaks, at 31-45, they are not only the best expansion franchise so far, but they also have a better record than Atom (29-47), Concord (30-46), and FHE (30-46). The Slog is six back of the Party Boys, and then there is a jumble for 3rd place with Easy Town, County Crossing, and Salem all within a game of one another seeking the 6th playoff seed.

We want to feature the expansion teams now that we are 76 games into their first season and look at who has stood out for them. In the BL, that team is the Grognaks as we mentioned above. Malden is 13th in runs scored (264) and 11th in runs allowed (379). On offense, the player that has stood out the most is 1B Andy Stamey (.319/19/50). Stamey was acquired in a trade with Salem that sent RP Capstone Goofson (in today's transactions for being traded this morning to Vault 81) and LF Nute Gunray, a talented young outfielder. On the mound, SP Dusty Lynne (7-6, 3.46) has been the most successful, along with RP Tyler Whitestag (7-1, 3.00).

Institute League

The top three teams are likely to make the playoffs, while the other four definitely will not. Bunker Hill is 9-1 in their last 10, propelling the 75ers to a four-game lead over Sunshine Tidings and a six-game advantage over Starlight.

At 19-57, Cambridge has the worst record in the NCA by far, 11 games back of the next team in the Radstags. The Coursers are 14th in runs scored (218) and 12th in runs allowed (386), though they amazingly have the 2nd-best Bullpen ERA (3.82). CL Ryan Roberson (8 SV, 3.04) with SP/RP James-Jacob Dowryman (0-2, 3.18, 22 G, 12 GS) helping. Cambridge has used Dowryman as a short-term starter, which means he cannot earn victories. On offense, the Coursers will need to find some hitters with 3B Burtie Cuttooth (.237/7/33) and 2B Jay Stoneman (.237/1/13) tued for the team lead in batting average. As a team, the Coursers are hitting .228 with a .304 OBP.

Minutemen League

There are two red-hot teams in the ML: Quincy (43-33, 8-2 in last 10) and Jamaica Plain (40-36, 9-game winning streak). The Gunners are now two games up on University Point for the league lead, and the Red Rockets are now tied with Spectacle Island for 3rd place, putting them right back in playoff contention and the ML hunt.

Southie (24-52) is in last place but have the 2nd-best record among expansion franchises. The Brews are 13th in runs scored (273) and runs allowed (456). RF Beckett Quantum (.287/13/38) has been the Brews' best overall hitter, while free agent pickup SP Air McNair (3-3, 3.38) has been their best pitcher.

Railroad League

With a current 12-game winning streak, Roxbury has stormed ahead to claim the SCA's best record a t 52-24, only one game back of the Boys. The Rad Sox now also lead both Vault 81 and Egret by five games and Oberland by six. All four teams have a better record than the ML's leader, the Gunners.

Playing in such a strong league, the Glowing Sea Radscorpions (18-58) may have no chance but to sit at the bottom for a while. With the CBO's worst record, the Radscorpions also sport the worst statistics, including being 14th in runs scored (243) and runs allowed (482). Like Cambridge in the NCA, the Scorpions are not getting much statistical help. 1B Casey Roux (.253/16/41) is currently the team's Triple Crown champion, leading the team in all three categories. SP Bobby Denman (4-9, 5.44) has been the best of a bad staff with a Starters ERA of 6.68. CL Taki Undertaker (10 SV, 3.51) has been the best pitcher.

CBO Standings

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1718798575

CBO Players of the Week

June 20 - The North Charles Association has chosen Ross Merchantman of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists as Player of the Week.

What a week Merchantman had. He hit .462 (12-for-26) with 5 home runs, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Merchantman is hitting .344 this year with 24 home runs and 67 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .428, 37 walks and scored 56 times.

The marquee name in the South Charles Association this week is Donn Mattingley of the Roxbury Rad Sox.

The hot-hitting 29-year-old third baseman put up a .536 average and .581 on-base percentage, piling up 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

That kind of hitting got him the SCA Player of the Week honors.

So far this season Mattingley has put up a .407 batting average with 105 hits, 20 home runs and 53 RBIs.

June 27 - Brennan Colt-45 has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 21-year-old shortstop of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Colt-45 batted .500 with 13 hits in 26 at-bats, 3 home runs and 4 RBIs.

A look at his current stats shows Colt-45 with a .331 average, 9 home runs, 37 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 75 games.

A battle-tested Ben Pawlak declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old Roxbury center fielder collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .667 average, 12 hits in 18 at-bats, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Pawlak is hitting .357 in 2310 with 51 RBIs and 15 home runs.

CBO Top Threes

With Nordhagen Beach RF Jonathan Angelou reaching 400 home runs this week, we wanted to highlight a few milestones in the CBO with the top three players in those statistical categories.

Please note: We are using official CBO stats, only. The years 2296-2297 were not a part of that statistical data.

Home Runs

Since we mentioned Angelou, let us start with home runs. Right now, that milestone seems to be 400 with just three players reaching it and the fourth player, RF Babs Rooth, County Crossing, not likely to reach that mark until maybe next year.

1. 441 - 1B Barker Cocoa, University Point
2. 413 - 1B Oren Gep, Starlight
3. 402 - RF Jonathan Angelou, Nordhagen Beach

Stolen Bases

We do not talk about stolen bases much overall, but the magic number has been 300 with just three players in CBO history joining that rank.

1. 394 - 2B Bubb Islander, Spectacle Island
2. 331 - CF Hid Matsumoto, Jamaica Plain
3. 310 - 3B Ajani Peacock, Egret

Saves

Again, 300 is the number to watch in the saves category with just three players in CBO history reaching that mark. Two of the three are still active but have not pitched a CBO game this season.

1. 339 - CL Josh Samm, Diamond City
2. 323 - CL Andy Helium, Goodneighbor (currently with Foxborough of the MML)
3. 312 - CL Doug Dee El, Jamaica Plain (currently with Needham of the MML)

CYL Playoffs

We will have a further breakdown of the CYL playoffs on July 1 when we should know better which teams are playing for the championship. Right now, each region is playing its semifinals.

In the NCA, the #1 seed South Charles Bank Moonies just swept the #4 and defending champions, the Beantown Sprouts, in two games. In the other NCA series, the #2 Woburn Diners and #6 Hester Mechanists are tied, 1-1, in the three-game set. In the SCA, #8 West Quincy, which upset #1 Andrew Station, is tied 1-1 with #5 Brown, which upset #4 Taunton in the previous round. In the other series, the #3 Nauset Beach Lurkhunters swept the #2 Hope Firestarters in two games.

It's not out of the question this season, but that Railroad League top four all look tough to handle. If Quincy clinches the #2 seed, though, they would have some advantages to do it.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 July 2310

The July Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Brian DeLong may be much younger than other hitters in the North Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 25-year-old Salem right fielder hit .316 with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

DeLong is presently hitting at a .341 pace with 26 home runs and 62 RBIs. He has played in 78 games and scored 61 times.

SCA Hitter - Donn Mattingley battered South Charles Association pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Mattingley told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Mattingley hit .485 with 8 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 28 runs.

This season Mattingley has delivered 121 hits in 293 at-bats for a .413 average with 21 home runs. He is getting on base at a .499 clip and his totals also include 62 RBIs and 69 runs scored. This year Mattingley has played in 75 games.

NCA Pitcher - Deedee Martinson of Nordhagen Beach had a tremendous June with a 5-1 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the North Charles Association.

Martinson restricted opposing hitters to 28 base hits and a .151 batting average. He rang up 40 strikeouts in 53 innings of work, surrendered 17 walks, and crafted a 1.36 ERA.

This season Martinson has gone 13-4 with an ERA of 2.38, posting 105 strikeouts in 151.1 innings.

SCA Pitcher - The Quincy Gunners felt very secure when they sent Lyle Pine out to the hill last month. The 23-year-old starter went after South Charles Association hitters with a vengeance and earned June's Pitcher of the Month award.

He went 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA as he struck out 31 in 47 innings over 6 starts.

This year Pine has worked 149.1 innings with 85 strikeouts en route to a 11-3 record and a 3.13 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Foo Fieterz's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Fort Hagen right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .375 with 2 doubles, no triples and 10 home runs. Fieterz also scored 16 times and drove in 24 runs.

For the year Fieterz is batting .319 with 23 home runs, 57 RBIs and 47 runs scored.

SCA Rookie - Makin Jobear earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the South Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish FHE left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Jobear hit .337 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 21 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

On the year Jobear has hit .355 with 19 home runs, 48 RBIs and scored 54 runs.

CBO Top Performances

On June 5, LF Knife Bowie of Spectacle Island had the best hitting performance of June and second-best performance of the season in a 16-3 spanking at Atom. Bowie went 5 for 6 with three home runs, four runs scored, and six RBI.

June's top pitching performance was by SP Emperry Alizm of Oberland on June 23. It rated as the 5th-best performance on the season in a 4-0 victory for the T-51s. In a complete-game shutout, Alizm allowed three hits, walked a batter, and struck out nine in the 115-pitch affair.

MML Analysis

We are entering the last 33 days of the regular season with 78 played and 30 to go. Current division leaders are the Watertown Armorers, Danvers Sonics, Providence Warlocks, and Plymouth Pilgrims. Only the Warlocks' division is a tight race with the Worcester Cannons just a game behind.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1718825979

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Sandy Shaw certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the LL Batter of the Month award for June.

The 21-year-old center fielder for the Danvers Sonics hit .414 with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

In his stats this season, Shaw has posted a batting average of .381 with 103 hits in 270 at-bats, 25 home runs and 70 RBIs. He has also scored 63 runs, walked 39 times and compiled a .457 OBP.

SL Hitter - It was a successful month for Ben Dimecup of Foxborough. He won the Stars League Best Batter Trophy for June.

Dimecup batted .471, hit 14 home runs, drove in 30 runs, scored 26 times and compiled a .545 on-base percentage.

So far this year Dimecup is batting .338 with 33 home runs.

LL Pitcher - The Legends League named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award.
It went to Tyler Shuster of Finch Farm Shamrocks, who impressed the voters with a glittering 5-1 record in June.

The Finch Farm star hurler made 7 starts, allowed 44 hits in 48.2 innings, struck out 39 and had a 4.44 ERA.

This year Shuster has posted a 9-5 mark in 21 starts and has a 6.35 ERA.

SL Pitcher - Taykuh Sides of the Cannons bewildered opposing batters in June and was honored as the Stars League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

The Worcester starter sparkled last month with a 6-1 record and 2.92 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 49.1 innings and had 49 strikeouts.

Sides has started 8 times this year, pitched 52.2 innings, fanned 52 batters and walked 13. His current record is 6 wins and 1 loss with a 3.76 ERA.

BMU Analysis

With just under 20 games to play, the BMU season is down to its final stretch. League leaders are the Tenpines Bluff Manta Men, Sanctuary Hills Zetans, Neponset Park Criticals, and Somerville Place Sentry Bots. The Dark Hollow Pond League is the tightest with the Marblehead Grenades down by a game to the Manta Men and the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters down by three.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1718825979

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - When Malyn Varen stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award.

The young Littleton first baseman posted a .372 batting average with 16 home runs, 44 RBIs and scored 23 runs. Varen also worked pitchers for 19 walks to post a .486 on-base percentage.

This season Varen is batting .372 with 32 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 23 times and has 44 runs batted in.

MA Hitter - West Roxbury Mole Rats fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June.

Punt Dollop put up a remarkable month at the age of 20 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

For the month, Dollop hit .468 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Dollop is batting .361 this year with 18 home runs, 63 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 74 hits in 205 at-bats.

CA Pitcher - Upon hearing the news that he had won the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month honors for June's work, Marblehead reliever Jaree Ra merely smiled.

"That's just the kind of guy he is, and that's what makes him so good out there," his manager told reporters. "The guy has ice water in his veins. Nothing short of a League Championship could get this guy excited and I'm not so sure that'd do it either."

Ra made 14 relief appearances burning through 13.2 innings as he racked up 11 saves, 12 strikeouts and held batters to a .222 average as he notched a 1-2 record and a 1.32 ERA.

In the 2310 campaign Ra has 26 saves. In 34 relief appearances he has tossed 33.2 innings, struck out 26 and yielded 9 walks with a 2-4 record. The Marblehead reliever has recorded a 2.67 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .256 when he is in the game.

MA Pitcher - West Roxbury starter Yellow Ice Hex really put the chill on opposing teams in June and today was acclaimed the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month.

He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 1.79 ERA in 6 starts. In 40.1 innings, he fanned 41 and walked 18.

On the year Hex has compiled a 10-4 mark with a 3.54 ERA.

GBRL Analysis

Like the BMU, the GBRL is down to its final 19 games of the season. Current division leaders are the Greentop Nursery Night People, Satellite Array Riflemen, Cabot House Triggermen, and Greater Mass Vans. The Vans have a Magic # of 3, while the Triggermen lead the Poseidon Energy Mongrels by a game and the Murkwater Animal Friends by two.

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - Erasmus Hansen made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the North League this past month.

The Satellite Array Riflemen center fielder shined through the month of June and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 18-year-old hit .352 with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

In 67 games this year Hansen has posted a .328 average and put up these numbers: 18 home runs, 39 RBIs and 66 runs scored.

SL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, Cyclone Bolt put up some good numbers in June and earned the SL Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Greater Mass's offensive leaders with a .341 average in 24 games. He also racked up 15 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 26 runs scored.

This year Bolt is batting .293 with 68 hits, 28 home runs, 63 RBIs, 36 walks, .404 OBP and has scored 64 runs.

NL Pitcher - In June when the Satellite Array manager wrote the name "Iwanna" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Believer Iwanna took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-1 mark and 1.73 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Riflemen star pitched 41.2 innings, fanned 51 and held opposing teams to a .163 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Iwanna was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

In 16 starts this season, Iwanna has picked up 9 wins while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 97.2 innings, allowed 84 hits, struck out 119 and posted a 4.33 ERA.

SL Pitcher - Leemeto Manycaps of Greater Mass had an award-winning June as he took home the South League Pitcher of the Month award.

"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Manycaps's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in June except for Leemeto."

Manycaps was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 5-0 record in 5 starts. He struck out 32 batters in 37.1 innings and kept opponents to a .220 batting average.

For the season Manycaps has compiled a 7-0 record with a 2.19 ERA.

BCAC Analysis

In its weekends-only format, the 80-game BCAC season will run a little longer this year. Teams have played 45 of those 80 games so far. The Harvard Crimson and Mass Bay Beacons are the current division leaders. The Beacons lead Commonwealth by just a game.

BCAC Players of the Month

Hitter - Bill Duggle put together a good June to earn the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Boston College officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Eagles first baseman posted a .434 batting average with 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

This year Duggle is hitting .329, produced 41 RBIs and 15 home runs, scored 32 times and gotten on base at a .417 rate.

Pitcher - June's standout hurler was Freon McMahan of Mass Bay University. He muzzled Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference hitters and held them in check the entire month to capture the Pitcher of the Month award.

To win the honor McMahan compiled an impressive 3-0 mark and 1.90 ERA in 3 starts. The Beacons star hurler also rung up 32 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.

In 8 starts this year McMahan has fashioned a 6-1 record and a 2.24 ERA.

CYL Playoffs

The CYL Playoffs are now in the Regional Finals, so only four teams remain. In the North Region, the #1 South Charles Bank Moonies are tied in their three-game series, 1-1, with the #6 Hester Mechanists. Hester already beat #3 Marlborough and #2 Woburn in the playoffs. In the North Region, the #8 West Quincy Atomatoys lead the #3 Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters, 1-0.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 July 2310

Victory, Dark Maintain Division Leads in NWL

The Victory Cave Crickets and Dark Bloodworms have maintained their division leads for the past month and both have the advantage heading into the last month and a half.

Victory continues to be the NWL's best pitching team with the least runs allowed (192) and the best Starters ERA (3.80). Their best starters have been their ace Tim Carty (5-1, 3.43) and their 3rd starter Chad Hartwig (6-1, 3.65). The Cave Crickets are also 4th in runs scored (228) with a lot of their hits (2nd in average at .316) coming on base knocks, not homers (8th at 24). 2B Due Crymes (.405/2/34) has carried the majority of those hits, leading the team in average and RBI.

Dark is 1st in all offensive categories but home runs where they are tied for 4th with 46. The Bloodworms are tops in runs scored (294) and average (.331). 3B Curt Toth (.387/11/41) appears to be the offensive MVP. Dark is also 3rd in runs allowed (223) and has the 2nd-best Starters ERA (3.89). The top two starters--Ed Homestead (7-3, 3.35) and Warren Gee (7-1, 3.66)--have led the pitching.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1718828893

Victory Cave Crickets fans believe they've got a talented young star in Due Crymes.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .461 with 1 home run, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

The end result was the second baseman being named the Nuka World League Batter of the Month.

This season Crymes is hitting at a .405 pace with 2 home runs, 34 RBIs and has scored 29 times.

June's best hurler was Steven Nebraska of Grape. He overwhelmed NWL hitters all month long and captured the Pitcher of the Month award as he collected a 5-1 record in 6 starts.

The 30-year-old Nebraska added 32 strikeouts in 51.2 innings and 10 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.48 ERA. Other clubs hit .290 against him.

This season Nebraska has compiled a 8-2 mark with a 3.32 ERA in 13 starts.

Nuka World League officials announced today that Tim Carty was presented June's Rookie of the Month trophy.

The Victory pitcher compiled a 2.73 ERA in 5 starts, logging a 4-1 record and 21 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.

So far this year Carty has a 5-1 record with a 3.43 ERA.

In the Amusement Park League, the Nuka Bottling Plant Pack leads in the North Division by seven games, and the Nuka Town Operators lead in the South Division by five games.

Not known for his offensive prowess, Jake Roth set the league afire in June and took home the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award.

The Nuka Bottling Plant center fielder posted a steady .360 batting average, 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs.

This year Roth has hit at a .380 clip with 60 RBIs, 18 home runs and 48 runs scored.

Car Aballo had an outstanding June -- so good that the Amusement Park League presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today.

"There's no way to know where the Operators would be without Aballo," one fan is quoted as saying.

In June Aballo dominated the competition, running up a 5-0 record, a 1.02 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 44.1 innings.

So far this season Aballo has compiled a 7-4 record with a 1.69 ERA.

The NWLRL leaders are the Northpoint Reservoir Gulchers and Dunmore Ferris Wheels.

At only 20 years of age, Rat Race Lashari could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Junkyard Space Cadets, as June was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .341 with 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

This year Lashari has hit at a .335 clip with 62 hits, 21 home runs, 53 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

Asajj Ventress is the latest NWL Rookie League Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Red Rocket starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished June with an outstanding 4-0 record.

In 6 starts he tossed 36.1 innings, posted 23 strikeouts, and sported a 2.23 ERA.

So far this year Ventress has made 8 starts, tossed 49.2 innings, struck out 36 batters and walked 7. His record is 5-1 with a 2.36 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .238 batting average.

The Bay Path Voyagers ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Ol Sugartop Buckaroos 4-2 to win the Bradberton Boys Series.

Bay Path won the series 2-1, capturing the title for the 1st time.

"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Bay Path manager Tony Rodriquez. "It's a great feeling."

The champs finished the regular season 28-14 and claimed first place in the East Division.

In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and shortstop Duke Dukes said the Voyagers have "great fans and they deserve this."

"I am so happy for our team right now," he said.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

1 July 2310

Grand Hotel Leads, National Park Drops to Last

In the Vim! League, the Grand Hotel Atoms maintained their Harbor Division lead. Currently, they have a three-game edge over the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales. The Fog Division has fallen into chaos with the National Park Gulpers, leaders on June 1, now in 4th place, while the team that was in 2nd place, the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers, are now in 3rd. The leaders are the Echo Lake Harbormen, but they cannot get too comfortable since they lead the Gulpers by just 3.5 games. This division is fun!

Echo Lake is no stranger to being atop this division, having won it two of the last three seasons. This season, the Harbormen are 1st in runs scored (301) and 4th in runs allowed (270). Everyone in the lineup has hit well, but three who have shined the brightest are the VL's leader in average, 2B Kody Downing (.429/6/34), C Chris Dominoes (.376/12/44), and 1B Jason Eisch (.311/11/34). For Downing, he is chasing the record for batting average in a season (.423) set by teammate Dominoes in 2305.

The Atoms are winning thanks to their pitching where they are 2nd in runs allowed (249) while 1st in Starters ERA (4.89) and Bullpen ERA (4.51). SPs Michael Acadiaman (5-3, 4.81) and Riff Tamson (7-3, 4.69) are the leaders. Rookie CL Sundown Velasquez (6 SV, 1.57) is the leader in the bullpen.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1718828893

One of the more consistent batters in June, Echo Lake second baseman Kody Downing grabbed Vim! League Batter of the Month honors by hitting .505 with 47 hits in 93 at-bats.

He racked up 3 home runs and 22 RBIs, scored 19 runs.

This season Downing has 6 home runs and a .429 batting average.

It was a sensational June for Alex Ruder as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Ruder locked down a 4-1 mark in 5 starts last month, striking out 39 while walking 17 in 43.1 innings and posting a 2.49 ERA.

This year Ruder has fanned 78 in 95.1 innings and collected a 7-2 record with a 3.49 ERA.

Last month Sundown Velasquez strong-armed the Vim! League hitters and picked up 3 victories.
In addition Grand Hotel hurler also picked up the league's Rookie of the Month honors.

In June the 22-year-old Velasquez recorded a 3-0 won-lost mark with a 0.77 ERA and 8 strikeouts in 11.2 innings.

Looking at his pitching stats so far this season, Velasquez has 21 relief appearances, pitched 23 innings and fashioned a 5-0 record with a 1.57 ERA. He has recorded 6 saves, struck out 15 and allowed opposing clubs to hit .235 when he is on the hill.

In the Mount Desert Island League, one division is tight while the other one is not. In the Small Bertha Division, the Brooke's Head Behemoths lead the Nucleus Radchickens by a half game. In the Old Longfellow Division, the Haddock Cove Engineers lead by 11 games over the Eagle's Cove Harpooners.

Mack Triggerfinger has a lot going for him. The Cliff's Edge right fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Mount Desert Island League has just picked him as its top hitter for June.

In 19 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .360 with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Triggerfinger on the season is batting .360 with 8 home runs. His totals include 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has played in 19 games.

Eagle's Cove's Brian Foxkiller solidified his position as a fine reliever, claiming the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month award for June.

Coming in from the bullpen 11 times he accumulated 6 saves and 19 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. He had a good month with a 3-1 record and a 2.84 ERA.

This season Foxkiller has 9 saves with a 3-4 mark and 4.24 ERA.

The Vim! Rookie League has tight races all around. In the Western Atlantic Division, the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits lead the Rock Point Barnacles by one game and the Glowing Grove Braniacs by two. In the Eastern Atlantic, the Longfellow Pips and MS Azalea Shipwrecks are tied, with the Fringe Cove Champions just three back.

Trent Daria is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Rock Point third baseman joined that select company when the VIM! Rookie League announced the results of June's voting.

Daria totaled 28 hits, 20 walks, 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 22 runs scored last month to put together a .329 batting average and .463 on-base percentage.

Hitting .288 to date, Daria has 16 home runs and 49 RBIs. He has played in 52 games.

In June, when the name of Ario T'Loak appeared on the Rock Point lineup card it was a virtual lock on a victory. He started 6 times and chalked up 5 wins and 1 loss. With those stats it was also a virtual lock that he would be named the VIM! Rookie League Pitcher of the Month.

T'Loak shackled opposing batters on 27 base hits and a .239 batting average. He rang up 37 strikeouts in 30.1 innings of work, surrendered 17 walks and fashioned a sparkling 4.15 ERA.

To date this season T'Loak is 6-5 with 14 starts and an ERA of 5.21 with 85 strikeouts in 76 innings.

In the Maine Youth Leagues, sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better.

It was the latter case in 2310, as the National Park Rangers topped the Diamond Cove Fort Knights 3-1 tonight at The Cove to win the Maine Youth Series. It was the 2nd title in franchise history.

"When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said National Park reliever Tutu Warner, who was named series MVP.

The Rangers took the series 2-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Mount Desert Island Four and a 28-12 record.

National Park manager Rack Toetip grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Warner's words.

"Tutu said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said.

Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come.

27) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (44.0, o)
28) Cambridge Coursers (30.0, o)

Brotherhood League

Nordhagen Beach has not been hot as of late which has allowed the rest of the pack to catch up. Four teams now have 50+ wins on the season. Two of those teams, Salem and Easy Town, are among the hottest in the CBO. The Witch Hats are 9-1 in their last 10.

Since we have not featured the Hats so far this season, now would be the best time. Salem at 51-37 and 3rd in the BL would be the #5 seed if the playoffs were to start today. The Witch Hats are a sneaky-good team, currently 2nd in the NCA in runs scored (493) and 7th in runs against (400), though they do sport the 2nd-best Bullpen ERA (3.65). With 148 home runs, Salem is also the best power team in the NCA. That is due to five players with at least 13 homers: RF Brian DeLong (.342/30/71) with the lead in the NCA in home runs, 1B Needham Tickler (.284/25/51), LF Dan Erb (.306/18/54), CF Andy Dogleash (.302/16/55), and 2B Michael Hoopring (.259/13/38). RP Machine Man Fortune (2-1, 0.52) has been killer in his 34.2 innings pitched.

Institute League

While Bunker Hill has established itself as the dominant team atop the standings, Starlight has been the absolute hottest team on a current eight-game winning streak. Sunshine Tidings has been cold, but they are still in the thick of the playoff hunt. We mentioned that this league is a three-team playoff race, but a hot BL is threatening the chance for three teams to get in.

One team we have yet to feature is Lexington, currently in 5th place and a game behind Fort Hagen. If we look at the current team, there are too many holes to be a competitive team. However, there are some young pieces worth building around along with the CBO's fourth-best system. Of course, LF Family Sam Partridge (.343/24/61) is already a star. 1B Redface Brickstone (.257/14/47) is trying to make a name for himself in his rookie season. Rookie RP Josh Woods (3-0, 3.79) could be the future closer for the Synths.

Down on the farms, the 6th prospect is the 2309 #1 pick 3B Juu Racetrack. The other top prospects in the system include the #30th-ranked SS Geralt Rivia and the 44th-ranked prospect, LF Izdere Lifunn-Mars.

Minutemen League

Quincy has distanced itself from some of the other teams with a 51-37 record and a five-game lead on 2nd-place University Point. Jamaica Plain and Spectacle Island are both fully in the playoff hunt with the rest of the division out of it as we approach the trade deadline.

Since we are dotting all T's and crossing all I's, let us bring up Atom. In 6th place, the once perennial playoff team of the early 00s, the Cats have not finished above .500 since their last playoff appearance in 2305. Unlike Lexington, the Cats also do not have a strong system in place, ranking 15th in the CBO. While he is not highly ranked (#22), CF Erasmus Hansen (,340/21/45 with the GBRL's Satelllite Array Riflemen) is looking well worth his 6th-overall pick in the 2309 Rookie Draft.

Some young players who may make a difference are P Sebastian Brakefield (4-2, 1 SV, 6.59 in 37 relief appearances), P Squirrel Bitz (1-0, 4.88 in 14 games with one start), C Nu York (.301/6/34), 2B Yoink Yukon (.316/5/25), LF Dulove Somebody (.249/4/24), and RF Actually Aucoin (.125/1/1 in two games) who is just returning from a creature attack.

Railroad League

Roxbury has just taken over the RL with a six-game lead over both Vault 81 and Egret. While the RL still appears to be a four-playoff-team league, the Rad Sox look to be back to championship form with a CBO-best 61-27 record. After missing the playoffs the last two seasons, the Sox seem to be a team with a score to settle.

We are featuring teams for the first time in every other league, so let's feature one here, too. The FHE Yao Guai, currently in 6th place, were predicted to finish behind even the expansion Glowing Sea Radscorpions. Now that we know that will not happen, let's talk about the Yao Guai's prospects.

First of all, FHE sports the CBO's best system, holding five prospects in the Top 20: LF Innis Sark (2nd), SS Slip Knotty (5th), 2B Anxious Wade Osteen (14th), 1B Cyclone Bolt (15th), and LF Levitt Aiding (19th).

Despite us questioning the logic of trading away top pitching younger Paul Stains to Diamond City, the Yao Guai may be loaded for a championship run within the next few years. One youngster already making waves and the likely winner of the Red Rocket Rookie Award is LF Makin Jobear (.353/23/58). Third-year RF Sebastian Lort (.330/14/48) has also played extremely well. SP Agnet Skinner (7-8, 3,29) has also shown considerable progress.

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

July 4 - Easy Town fans had a lot to cheer about this week as right fielder Baktu DaWell brought home the North Charles Association Player of the Week trophy.

During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .591 batting average, 13 hits and 5 home runs. DaWell also racked up 17 RBIs and scored 9 runs.

This year DaWell is batting .350 with 22 home runs.

In his 2310 season totals, Gains has 19 home runs, .286 BA, .373 OBP, 63 RBIs and 61 runs scored.

July 11 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Family Sam Partridge, the Lexington Synths 21-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 13 hits in 26 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs.

This year Partridge has hit at a .343 pace and produced 61 RBIs, 24 home runs and scored 54 runs.

Prof Castillo kept his eye on the ball last week and now all eyes are on him. The Goodneighbor Hancocks right fielder easily swung his way to the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award with 13 hits in 24 at-bats.

Castillo hit .542 last week with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Castillo is hitting .269 this year with 12 home runs, 40 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 59 hits in 219 at-bats, 14 walks and a .311 on-base percentage. Castillo has played in 64 games.

Could finally be the Rad Sox's year too, I suppose.

The Rad Sox definitely look to be back this season. Right now, they have the two top hitters for average, Donn Mattingley (.401) and Ayag Mour (.358), in the SCA. Mattingley is in a legitimate competition with Barker Cocoa for the Nuka Hitter Award. Overall, Roxbury's offense is dominant with a .306 team average. The only player in the lineup hitting below .300 right now is rookie LF Jouane Manette (.295/4/33). Their pitching is not as dominant as it had been in their championship seasons, but Nuka Laloosh (11-4, 3.89) and Urm Rehfeldt (12-6, 3.74) are tough to beat.

CYL Playoffs

It was all about winning for the Hester Mechanists -- and win they did.

There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball.

"We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said first baseman Freenow Sullivan, who was named series MVP. "Now we're the league champions."

Hester, the #6 seed from the NR, defeated the West Quincy Atomatoys, the #8 seed from the SR, by a score of 5-2 at Atomatoys Factory Park to take the series 3-2.

"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Hester manager Want Moreno. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played."

Hester defeated #11 Worcester 2-0, #3 Marlborough 2-1, #2 Woburn 2-1, and #1 South Charles Bank 2-1 in the NR playoffs. West Quincy defeated #9 Sandwich 2-1, #1 Andrew Station 2-0, #5 Brown 2-1, and #3 Nauset Beach 2-1 in the SR playoffs.

MVP: 1B Freenow Sullivan, Sr, Hester

Freenow Sullivan may not be a top prospect in the 2310 CBO Draft, but the senior had a major-league impact on his team in the Commonwealth Youth Series.

Named MVP of the Series, Sullivan was 8 of 20 (.400) with two doubles, a home run, a walk, two runs, and four RBI. He was 2 for 5 with an RBI in Game 1; 1 for 3 with a walk in Game 2; 0 for 4 in Game 3; 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, two runs, and two RBI in Game 4; and 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI in Game 5.

In his four years with the Mechanists, Sullivan batted .316 in 245 games wit 138 starts with 30 home runs and 102 RBI. He hit a career-high 17 home runs and had a career-high 54 RBI this season.

The Buzz Around McDonald

Hester's junior right-hander SP Buzzcut McDonald may not have been named the Series MVP, but scouts got a glimpse of how good he can be.

In two starts in the Commonwealth Youth Series, McDonald was 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA in 16.0 innings pitched. He allowed 11 hits and five earned runs, walked three batters, and struck out 13.

Scouts see McDonald as one of the top pitchers in the 2311 Draft. He is expected to go anywhere from the early to mid-1st round once he completes his youth career, assuming there are no setbacks or injuries to stunt his development.

At the same time, scouts do not consider him to be in contention for the #1 overall pick unless he makes significant progress in the next 12 months. Scouts have cited "generational" talent at pitcher to warrant choosing one over a positional player with the #1 pick. Two of the #1 overall picks who have proved that talent are Nordhagen Beach's Beachboy Nut (#1 in 2296) and Roxbury's Nuke Laloosh (#1 in 2299). Two other players taken as #1 overall pitchers are Sunshine Tiding's Eugene Gym (#1 in 2298) and Goodneighbor's Clubhouse Treelover (#1 in 2307). Gym has been a good starter in the CBO but not generational, while the jury is still out for Treelover (6-8, 4.06), who is in his first season as a full-time starter.

CBO Analysis

The season is now more than 75% complete as teams have played 100 of the 130 games scheduled, and we have reached the All-Star Break in what may be a busy trade schedule this week. Right now, six teams have 60 or more wins, with three of those six in the Railroad League. As we approach the last month of the season, there should be plenty of excitement. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (131.4, +)
2) Roxbury Rad Sox (127.4, +)
3) Vault 81 Dwellers (121.2, o)
4) Bunker Hill 75ers (118.2, --)
5) Egret Ninjas (116.6, ++)
6) County Crossing Bloodbugs (111.8, ++)
7) University Point Deathclaws (110.0, ++)
8) The Slog Ghouls (109.0, -)
9) Oberland T-51s (107.2, --)
10) Starlight Killers (105.4, o)
11) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (105.4, o)
12) Quincy Gunners (104.4, --)
13) Easy Town Assaultrons (98.0, +)
14) Nahant Celtics (90.8, o)
15) Salem Witch Hats (90.2, -)
16) Spectacle Island Reapers (87.2, ++)
17) Diamond City Swatters (86.8, ++)
18) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (83.0, -)
19) Lexington Synths (82.8, -)
20) Goodneighbor Hancocks (80.0, --)
21) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (78.2, o)
22) FHE Yao Guai (67.0, o)
23) Atom Cats (65.6, o)
24) Concord Radstags (64.6, +)
25) Malden Grognaks (63.8, o)
26) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (46.6, +)
27) Southie Brews (41.8, --)
28) Cambridge Coursers (26.6, o)

After 100 games, the playoff seeding would look like this:

NCA
1. Nordhagen Beach
2. Bunker Hill
3. The Slog
4. Sunshine Tidings (leads the season series over Starlight 5-3)
5. Starlight
6. County Crossing

SCA
1. Roxbury
2. Quincy
3. Vault 81
4. Egret
5. Oberland
6. University Point

Brotherhood League

With six of the seven teams above .500 and the best last-place team, this has proved to be the CBO's toughest league. Nordhagen Beach is currently tied for the CBO's best record and looks to be a 3/4 season favor to be in the Sole Survivor Series again.

Since we are at the trade deadline later this week, let's look at what some teams may do:

Nordhagen Beach - It's hard to find many needs on this team since it leads the NCA in runs scored (573) and runs allowed (357). Even though the Bullpen ERA (3.53) is the NCA's best, some end-of-game improvement could be possible with RP Ted Iam (3-2, 5.25) and RP Derek Gist (0-1, 5.09) having some troubles. Overall, though, we would recommend standing pat.

The Slog - The easy answer for the Ghouls is to improve its bullpen with the 12th-best Bullpen ERA (5.08). CL Crisco Caristo (21 SV, 6.80) gets beat up a lot. The Slog may benefit from moving RP Denaria Kee (6-5, 2.79) to the closer role and then finding some upgrades to piece around him.

County Crossing - Outside of SP Gavin Eviritts (14-6, 3.57) and CL Wick Prater (25 SV, 2.62), the pitching could use some upgrades. The offense is formidable, but there are no championship aspirations for the Bloodbugs without some pieces in the rotation and bullpen.

Easy Town - Nothing about the Assaultrons screams 10 games above .500, but here we are. The top four hitters are all really good, but the back of the lineup generates almost no power with 5th-hitter C Tyler Shoemaker (.251/6/32) hitting 6 of the 7 home runs from the final four hitters. The Trons will want to find someone that can add some power to the 10th-ranked team in homers (109).

Salem - This is a team we feel is really talented throughout the roster, but their results do not meet that talent. The starting rotation seems to be one of the most talented, but SP Chase Wede (8-11, 4.30) has the best ERA for the 8th-ranked Starters ERA (4.46). We are not sure a trade is in the Witch Hats best interest, but they need to find a way to get better results from their pitching staff to have any hopes to make a playoff appearance.

Nahant - There are quite a few holes that the Celtics would need to fill, but finding a player or two who can hit for average and power would help the team 10th in runs scored (433), 11th in average (.255), and 7th in home runs (116). Two of their top power hitters--LF Fairprice Fairley (.189/18/46) and RF Gene Leftswipe (.190/11/28)--have been home run or bust for a good part of the season, which is not good to have at the top of the lineup.

Institute League

Bunker Hill currently has control with a six-game lead on both Sunshine Tidings and Starlight. All three teams can be considered buyers while the rest of the IL will be sellers.

Bunker Hill - The 75ers are up there is teams of runs scored (5th with 538) and runs allowed (3rd with 407). While the team hits well (1st in average at .292), they lack some power (8th in home runs with 115). Only three players have hit more than 10 home runs: injured SS Aaron Squire (.354/22/62), 3B Grool Manycaps (.284/15/68) and LF Jig McGhee (.336/14/60). Making a move or two to add power to the lineup would turn hits into runs.

Sunshine Tidings - The Chemists have not been bad in any respect, but they also do not stand out in any statistical category but one: home runs (1st with 169). With 7 of 8 in the lineup with 11 or more home runs, we would not suggest making any changes there. Just get more players on base. Sunshine Tidings has also attempted to improve its bullpen by trading for Atom's CL Matt Rodrigue (15 SV, 8.02), but he has had a rough 2310 campaign. The Chemists may want to complement CL Cush Baker (22 SV, 3.86) with some productive arms in the bullpen.

Starlight - The Killers have had a productive year, especially in its starting rotation where they are 2nd in Starters ERA (3.56). All four starters have an ERA of 3.79 or below. Starlight, however, is 8th in runs scored (480), so bats, namely power, are necessary to make a run. The Killers are 12th in home runs (105) with the majority of those coming from four players, including Nuka Hitter candidate 1B Oren Gep (.290/33/92).

Minutemen League

Quincy has been in control of the ML as of late, a league that has only two teams over .500. University Point is currently on a five-game winning streak to put them just three back. Jamaica Plain and Spectacle Island are not dead in the playoff hunt, but they will need to decide if they want to put their hat in the 2310 title pursuit or look to build up their team for next season.

Quincy - The Gunners do not stand out, currently 6th in both runs scored (504) and runs allowed (440). Most of the lineup is good, though they could use some better hitting with only one player--2B Shirt Fowler (.312/13/37)--hitting over .300. The pitching staff does not have any considerable holes though the bullpen could use some upgrades from Neil Watson (1-6, 6.24), Zane Blaze (1-15, 5.47), and Murd Barfield (2-0, 10.71). Blaze was attained from Malden where he started 22 games. In one appearance as a reliever with the Gunners he pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing one hit.

University Point - The Deathclaws are not setting records on offense this season, and they seem to have the worst luck with injuries with two key players--RF Tomas Jones (.427/13/39) and SS Austin Engill (.219/12/35)--currently on the Injured List. Jones may be nearing the end, playing in only 74 of 220 possible games over the past two seasons. RF Jarrett Metalbox (.242/5/18) also has not been the answer, so that is one possible upgrade. Of course, the team 9th in runs allowed (473) could use pitching help everywhere, though the bullpen and CL Chase Southie (19 SV, 6.17) are the obvious upgrade area.

Jamaica Plain - The Red Rockets have been hot and cold all season. With a pitching staff that is 10th in runs allowed (491), Starters ERA (4.52), and Bullpen ERA (5.13), the obvious upgrade would be to find young pitchers for an aging pitching staff. In other words, sell those veterans for some up-and-coming arms.

Spectacle Island - Fans of the Reapers have to be frustrated that such a good pitching staff, ranked 2nd in runs allowed (399) with the top Starters ERA (3.48) gets almost no run support (10th in runs scored with 407). That does not bode well once the bullpen (13th in ERA at 5.63) comes in. The entire bullpen has been bad with CL Alien Mars (26 SV, 6.57) not performing well enough to hold that spot, yet not having anyone currently on the team to step up. We think the Reapers should buy, but they need a lot of pieces in the bullpen and lineup (13th in average at .245) to compete. C Biddy Swenson (.176/6/27) has fallen off a cliff, so replacing the 31-year-old, four-time All-Star may be a start to turning this season around.

Railroad League

While the BL is the best top-to-bottom team in the CBO, the top four in the RL are strong and all are capable of winning the Sole Survivor Series. For the bottom of the league, there is some building left to do. Diamond City has done a good job of getting some young pitchers, including SP Paul Stains (12-6, 3.03), RP Burt Bloodhound (2-4, 1 SV, 4.40), SP Mucky Timmons (3-11, 6.52), and RP Phil Pearlman (3-1, 3.92). They should sell off some of their veterans to build up more young talent and be ready to compete in the next few years.

Roxbury - The Rad Sox have come back with a vengeance after missing the playoffs the past two seasons. The offense has been really good, including leading the SCA in runs scored (610). The pitching has also been good, currently 3rd in runs allowed (400), with the 4th-best Starters ERA (3.92) and 2nd-best Bullpen ERA (3.79). Really, we have no recommendations other than perhaps building up some depth on the team. Otherwise, we would recommend that the Sox stand pat.

Vault 81 - The Dwellers' offense is only trumped by the Rad Sox, so let's look at what they can do with pitching. With the 7th-best runs allowed (444), including the 7th-best Bullpen ERA (4.80), we would start there. CL Ryan Goodpryce (18 SV, 4.35) would better serve as a middle reliever or setup man, so we recommend that Vault 81 find a closer for a run.

Egret - The Ninjas have good stats all-around, so they are doing what they need to do. With the 4th-best scoring offense (516 runs), the one place where Egret could use help is in power hitting where they are 9th in home runs (100). Their best hitter has been 3B Ajani Peacock (.326/18/76), so they need to add more power around him to boost their win percentage.

Oberland - The T-51s are a good team overall, ranked 5th in runs scored (506) and 4th in runs allowed (423), including sporting the best bullpen (3.38 ERA). CL William Butcherman (19 SV, 5.67) is yet another closer not getting enough done, so shuffling the bullpen could help instead of trading for more arms. The talent is there; this team just needs the production in the last leg of the season.

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

July 18 - Veteran Maxx Murtagh had a great week at the plate for the Party Boys to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the North Charles Association.

The 33-year-old Nordhagen Beach center fielder built a .480 average on the strength of 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.

For the year Murtagh is hitting .335 with 27 home runs. His stats include 62 runs batted in and 85 runs scored.

One of the league's most exciting young players, Missile Crews of the Goodneighbor Hancocks earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 21-year-old center fielder had a lofty .375 average (9-for-24), collecting 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

So far this season Crews has put up a .337 batting average with 118 hits, 25 home runs and 78 RBIs.

July 25 - What's in a number? In baseball, just about everything.

The numbers that County Crossing's Babs Rooth put up last week were the envy of the league, as Rooth came away with North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He belted out 14 hits in 24 at-bats, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs last week as he posted his .583 batting average.

This year Rooth has hit at a .331 pace and produced 66 RBIs, 25 home runs and scored 73 runs.

Today the South Charles Association announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Roxbury's talented right fielder Brightsun Ramos. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually a bad omen for pitchers.

For the week Ramos batted .417 (10-for-24) with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.

So far this season Ramos has 13 home runs and a .307 batting average.

CBO All-Star Rosters

Commissioner Nate Howard mentioned that the late All-Star Game was meant to accommodate expansion franchises so that fans could better gauge which players were deserving. Since not every team is represented in the Game, we want to see the best as much as the most popular. With that said, only two total players from the expansion teams appear in the rosters below: 1B Andy Stamey of Malden and SP Air McNair of Southie. No players from Cambridge or Glowing Sea were selected.

Once again it is time to honor the elite players in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. The league office today announced the names of the players selected to play in the annual league All-Star classic.

Feels like the season has really flown by! A lot of really good teams playing .600+ ball. I'm sure some is the expansion clubs eating up a lot of losses, but I think we're starting to see which clubs had the depth to stomach losses. Still time for the Red Rockets to correct course, but seems to be their first playoff miss in a bit. Lucky to be in the weakest division

Yeah, and by this point, looking at the standings, the Atom Cats really could have used the special signing haha. Guess they don't mind losing.

I've been power-simming in anticipation of being really busy in the last five months of the year, so it has indeed!

Jamaica Plain is definitely not out of the hunt. There will be two teams coming out of the ML, and University Point cannot stay healthy.

GM Craig Rose has a plan. I don't know what that plan is since their record has gotten worse and worse since he took over as GM. But he has a plan.

The August Super Post

CBO All-Star Game Results

All-Star Oberland T-51s' shortstop Stormin Normin MacDonald had a night to remember.

Not only did he take the field with the game's best players, he was also a huge factor in the 5-1 South Charles Association victory over the North Charles Association All-Stars.

"We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it's a game I'll never forget," MacDonald said. "I talked to a few of my friends from back home, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled."

MacDonald has a lifetime average of .304, has played in 627 games, and has collected 93 home runs and 301 RBIs.

The house was rockin' -- Tarberry Field Forever, that is -- site of this year's Home Run Challenge. A jubilant rookie Hax Kim outlasted the rest of the field to win the title. The Vault 81 Dwellers first baseman vanquished Oren Gep in the final round by a score of 11-6.

"It was a battle of attrition," said Kim, "and I happened to be the last man standing."

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Baktu DaWell battered North Charles Association pitchers all July and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old DaWell told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 24 games, DaWell hit .434 with 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 24 runs.

For the year DaWell has hit .361 with 27 home runs, 95 RBIs and scored 74 runs.

SCA Hitter - To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Barker Cocoa. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as University Point's first baseman pinned down the South Charles Association Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .324 in July collecting 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

This season Cocoa has banged out 114 hits in 344 at-bats for a .331 average with 42 home runs. He is getting on base at a .518 pace and his totals also include 95 RBIs and 114 runs scored.

NCA Pitcher - In July when the The Slog manager wrote the name "Fanne" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Tiger Fanne took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-1 mark and 1.55 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Ghouls star pitched 46.1 innings, fanned 35 and held opposing teams to a .246 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Fanne was named the NCA Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

To date this season Fanne sports a 9-6 mark with a 3.01 ERA in 26 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .242 batting average and has 147 strikeouts in 188.1 innings.

SCA Pitcher - The Diamond City Swatters celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Paul Stains had been selected as July's South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month. Stains's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic.

"Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Stains said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs."

Stains tossed 52 innings last month, holding opponents to a .205 average while striking out 36 batters. In 6 starting assignments he came away with a 6-0 record, putting together an ERA of 1.21.

To date Stains is 13-6 in 25 starts with a 2.90 ERA and has 174 strikeouts in 211 innings.

NCA Rookie - Youngster Foo Fieterz emerged as the latest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Fort Hagen deserved the honor, batting .326 with 8 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Fieterz enjoy the limelight.

In his season totals Fieterz has 31 home runs and a .320 batting average.

SCA Rookie - Gladder Questseeker's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Quincy first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .390 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 9 home runs. Questseeker also scored 17 times and drove in 29 runs.

Questseeker is batting .386 this season in 86 games with 20 home runs, 62 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 115 hits in 298 at-bats.

CBO Top Performances

On July 7, 15-year veteran, LF Boots Yellowhair of The Slog, had the top hitting performance of the month when he went 4 for 5 with a double, two home runs, a walk, two runs scored, and nine RBI in a 16-9 drubbing of Southie. It was the third-highest-ranked performance of the season, just behind Donny Kowalski's April 23 performance and Knife Bowie's June 5 performance. On the season, Yellowhair is batting .344 with 8 home runs and 32 RBI in 45 games played. He has missed over two months of the season with a severe hamstring strain. In his career, all with the Ghouls, Yellowhair has a lifetime .288 batting average with 144 home runs and 625 RBI. He has played 1165 games with The Slog.

July's top pitching performance was by SP Urm Rehfeldt of Roxbury in a complete-game shutout of Glowing Sea on July 16. It is the 4th-ranked pitching performance on the season. In the 113-pitch performance, Rehfeldt allowed two hits, walked a batter, and struck out eight. On the season, Rehfeldt is 15-6 with a 3.23 ERA in 25 games started and 172.2 innings pitched. In his lifetime with County Crossing and the Rad Sox, Rehfeldt is 126-62 with a 3.78 ERA.

MML Analysis

The MML season has two games left in the 108-game schedule, and we know three of the four division's results. In the Wade Boggs Division, the Watertown Armorers (FHE) have clinched with a 73-33 record and will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. In the Ted Williams Division, the Worcester Cannons (FtH) have clinched with a 64-42 record. In the Carl Yastrzemski Division, the Plymouth Pilgrims (Mal) have clinched with a 63-43 record. While the Cannons and Pilgrims both know they will meet in the SLCS, the two teams face off in the final two games to determine which team will have home-field advantage. Plymouth currently leads the season series 4-3.

In the Matt Murtagh Division, the Lynn Fortune Finders (63-43, Obe) lead the Danvers Sonics (62-44, ET) and Everett Mutant Hounds (62-44, V81) by two games and the Finch Farm Shamrocks (61-45, Nah) by two games. The Fortune Finders visit Abernathy, the Sonics visit Marlborough, the Hounds visit Watertown, and the Shamrocks host Arlington in the last two games.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719058151

While there is still a chance to top it, the top hitting and pitching performances on the season came in July. On July 9, Needham's 1B David Stahl was 4 for 5 with four home runs, four runs, and 10 RBI in a 16-11 victory at Wellesley. Stahl tied the Stars League record for home runs in a game and set the RBI record in his performance. Just a day earlier, SP Lazy Macnamara of Foxborough had the season's top pitching performance against Brookline. In the 7-0 victory, Macnamara pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout in which he struck out 11 batters and faced the minimum 27 batters. The lone hit by the Bandoliers Lumpy Pumpkinhead was followed by a double play to empty the bases.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Medford Medics fans believe they've got a talented young star in Prince Campbell.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in July, as he hit .412 with 15 home runs, 33 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

The end result was the third baseman being named the Legends League Batter of the Month.

In his 2310 season totals, Campbell has 28 home runs, .367 BA, .454 OBP, 60 RBIs and 71 runs scored.

SL Hitter - July's outstanding offensive player in the Stars League has been picked, and the honor goes to the Needham left fielder David Stahl.

He won the award by batting .391, hitting 16 home runs, knocking in 36 runs and scoring 28 times.

So far this year Stahl is batting .352 with 37 home runs.

LL Pitcher - It was a prolific month of July for Graygarden reliever James Schwerdtfeger. He put his best foot forward with 10 saves in 11 save opportunities. Numbers so good that the Action Boys Legends League voted him the Pitcher of the Month.

During the month, the Action Boys bullpen specialist bagged 2 wins and no losses while compiling a 1.35 ERA. In 13.1 innings James Schwerdtfeger gave up 10 base hits, fanned 0, and walked 2. The hitters he faced batted .204 against him.

For the year Schwerdtfeger has earned 28 saves, made 42 relief appearances, fanned 28 hitters in 46.1 innings and posted an ERA of 1.55 and a 4-1 record.

SL Pitcher - When Rickey Schoolmaster takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in July. The outcome was usually a Castle victory. His fine 6-1 performance earned him the Stars League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

The talented Strength hurler made 7 starts, worked 53 innings, permitted 47 base hits, and struck out 58 while putting up a 2.89 ERA.

For the year Schoolmaster has a 10-4 record with a 3.79 ERA in 20 starts.

RF Captain Kirk Abalon was named Series MVP with a 4 for 12 performance with a home run, two walks, two runs, and three RBI. The series-clinching run came in the bottom of the 8th inning of Game 3 when PH David Cannon hit a solo home run to take the lead. Cannon only had five official at bats in seven plate appearances in the regular season, going 1 for 5 with a home run, two walks, a run, and two RBI.

The Boston Minor Series has also begun, with Sanctuary Hills and Neponset Park currently tied 1-1 in the five-game series. The Criticals won Game 1, 14-7, while the Zetans took Game 2, 2-0. We'll give more coverage after the Series has completed.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719058151

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Boston Minor Union, Tyler Johnson put up some good numbers in July and earned the CA Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Winchester's offensive leaders with a .379 average in 18 games. He also racked up 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, and 19 runs scored.

This season Johnson is batting .321 with 102 hits, 42 home runs, 105 RBIs, .415 OBP and has scored 66 runs.

MA Hitter - Somerville Place Sentry Bots fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in July.

Tobias Hoffman put up a remarkable month at the age of 19 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

For the month, Hoffman hit .353 with 11 home runs, 38 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Currently Hoffman has 33 home runs and a .264 batting average.

CA Pitcher - Josh Agosto of Sanctuary Hills had an outstanding July with a 4-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Commonwealth Association.

He topped off the month with a 0.23 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 39 innings, fanned 26 and held opposing teams to a .187 average.

This year Agosto has compiled a 13-4 mark with a 3.51 ERA in 22 starts.

MA Pitcher - Adi Gallia was on cloud nine the entire month of July, capping it off with the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month honors.

The Hull starter was spectacular in 5 starting assignments with 4 wins and no losses, 41 innings pitched, 35 strikeouts and a fine 2.20 ERA.

For the season Gallia has logged 8 wins and 1 loss and struck out 89 batters in 96.2 innings while compiling a 3.26 ERA.

In the North League Championship, the Riflemen took the series, two games to one, over the Night People. 3B Beau Hemian of Satellite Array was named the Series MVP by going 5 for 12 with a home run, a walk, a run, and two RBI.

In the South League Championship, the Triggermen swept the Vans, two games to none. 2B Jax Jagg of Caboy House was named Series MVP, going 4 for 9 with a double, four runs, and two RBI.

Three games of the Rookie Series have been completed. In Game 1, Cabot House topped the Riflemen, 4-3. In Game 2, Satellite Array answered with a 7-2 victory. In Game 3, the Riflemen took a 2-1 series lead by topping the Triggermen, 7-4. Cabot House needs to win the next two games to win the series, while the Riflemen need just one more win.

The top hitting performance came early in the season when Union Hope's SS Goodboy Tyler was 5 for 6 with two doubles, two home runs, three runs, and seven RBI in a 17-6 victory over Coastal Cottage on April 17. SP Hugo Turk of Poseidon Energy had the top pitching performance on the season on June 20 in a 7-0 shutout of Freight Depot. Turk allowed just one hit with a walk and 17 strikeouts in the complete-game shutout. The 17 strikeouts fell just two short of the GBRL record of 19 set by five players: Junkyard Gourd, Lynly Starsung, Jayden Gray, John O'Brien, and Admiral Kelm. Both Starsung and Gray tied those records this season.

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - David Bloatfly is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Parsons Asylum second baseman joined that select company when the North League announced the results of July's voting.

Bloatfly totaled 23 hits, 15 walks, 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and 17 runs scored last month to put together a .371 batting average and .494 on-base percentage.

Bloatfly is batting at a .304 pace this season, picking up 88 hits in 289 at-bats with 42 home runs, 100 RBIs and 74 runs scored.

SL Hitter - Beem Ja may be much younger than other hitters in the South League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in July to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 20-year-old Westing Estate second baseman hit .371 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

In 33 games this season Ja is batting .349 with 44 hits and 12 home runs. He has scored 28 runs and driven in 41.

NL Pitcher - Rocky Narrows Blitz hurler Ro Rowe was rewarded today with the North League Pitcher of the Month honors. Rowe, 21, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck.

"I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Rocky Narrows starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place."

Things did fall into place for Rowe. In July he took the ball for 37 innings while notching 35 strikeouts, a 2.92 ERA and a 4-0 record.

This season Rowe has registered 9 wins and 5 losses in 17 starts with a 5.34 ERA.

SL Pitcher - July was a magical month for Roamer Hancock of Eastlake. He held the South League hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 4-1 mark and a 1.38 ERA.

Hancock also chalked up 5 starts, 32.2 innings and 38 strikeouts.

For this outstanding performance he was rewarded with the Pitcher of the Month trophy.

To date this season, Hancock has a record of 9 wins and 10 losses and a 4.59 ERA. He has appeared in 23 games and struck out 141 in 115.2 innings.

BCAC Analysis

BCAC Players of the Month

Hitter - Harvey Aard made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference this past month.

The Commonwealth University Terriers catcher shined through the month of July and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 18-year-old hit .413 with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

In 2310 Aard has hit at a .409 clip with 108 hits, 24 home runs, 74 RBIs and has scored 61 times.

Pitcher - Last month was a very good one for Freon McMahan of Mass Bay University. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference.

McMahan throttled league hitters the entire month, completing July with an impressive 5-0 mark and a 1.24 ERA in 5 starts with 64 strikeouts in 43.2 innings.

This season McMahan has a 11-1 record with a 1.80 ERA in 13 starts.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 August 2310

Victory and Grape Battle While Dark Nears Clinching

The Victory Cave Crickets and Grape Painted Ghouls are knotted up at 42-33 with 15 games left to play in the 2310 season. The Cave Crickets have a 9-6 season series edge, and the two teams meet one more time in a three-game series to complete the season.

Meanwhile, the Dark Bloodworms at 50-25 hold a 10-game lead over Cherry with a Magic # of 6. The Bloodworms, which have never been to the playoffs, have dominated the South Bradberton Division.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719097757

At only 22 years of age, Shill Gehrig could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Orange Tourists, as July was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Nuka World League Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .376 with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Presently Gehrig is batting .316 and has collected 18 home runs, 55 RBIs, .383 OBP and scored 56 runs.

There's no doubt that Bloodworms starter Ed Homestead earned his Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month award. He left absolutely no room for doubt as he mowed his way through the opposition in July.

During the month Homestead was 5-0 with a 1.14 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 39.1 innings and had 26 strikeouts.

Up to now Homestead has recorded a record of 12-3. In 18 starts he has fanned 87 batters in 122.2 innings with a 2.64 ERA.

Meanwhile, the Amusement Park League is in its final week with both the Nuka Bottling Plant Pack and Nuka Town Operators already clinching their spot in the Amusement Park Series. The Pack are three-time champions with their last coming two seasons ago. The Operators have will be making their first appearance in the Amusement Park Series.

Not known for his offensive prowess, Goodwill Gomez set the league afire in July and took home the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award.

The Galactic Zone first baseman posted a steady .461 batting average, 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and 25 runs.

Presently Gomez is batting .381 with 102 hits and 13 home runs. He has knocked in 51 runs and scored 62 times.

The Amusement Park League scribes have picked July's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Ornfree Taa of Galactic Zone. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 6-1 mark.

The G-Force star hurler made 7 starts with a 2.98 ERA and surrendered 39 hits in 45.1 innings. He struck out 31 and walked 11.

This year Taa has a 7-6 record with a 4.92 ERA.

The Dunmore Ferris Wheels were good enough to get past the Northpoint Reservoir Gulchers at Storm Stadium today and secure the 4th championship in franchise history.

"When you wear Ferris Wheels on your shirt, you're good at something," Dunmore skipper Greg Hammerberg told the press.

Ferris Wheels first baseman Bleeding Gums Murphy was named MVP of the series after he went .357 with 2 home runs and 9 RBI.

"It feels totally incredible," Murphy said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."

The new champions capped off a great season with a 9-3 victory over the Gulchers to win the NWL Rookie Series 3-1.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719097757

When Jonathan Risper stepped up to the plate in July he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award.

The young Nuka Plant left fielder posted a .510 batting average with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 15 runs. Risper also worked pitchers for 11 walks to post a .587 on-base percentage.

Risper has registered a career batting average of .255 with 178 hits, 47 homers and 121 RBIs.

Nuka Plant's Sean Jones hated to see July end. It was one of the single greatest months the reliever has posted, and the 22-year-old reliever did so well that he garnered enough votes for the NWL Rookie League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Jones held the opposition to a .154 batting average in 3 relief appearances. He worked 7.1 innings, collected no saves, sat down 8 on strikes and posted a 3-0 record and a 1.23 ERA.

Jones has 3 saves in his career with a 12-4 record and a 3.91 ERA.

Look Campos of the Hadley Falls Reactors had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2310.

The 15-year-old first baseman put up a .355 average and a .465 on-base percentage, piling up 50 hits, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 13 home runs, 33 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 16. Cross Lem of the Bay Path Voyagers finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Reginald Barclay of the South Bradberton Tycoons finished third.

Ozzie McHenry of the Chicopee Galaxy was in command and couldn't do much wrong when he was on the mound this season. His outstanding 1-0 won-lost mark and 1.65 ERA were big factors in his winning the 2310 Bradberton Boys League Pitcher of the Year Award.

In 54.2 innings of work and 11 starts, McHenry struck out 67 while giving up 36 hits and 27 walks. He held opposing batters to a .187 average.

At the age of 17, York Sinatra says he still has a lot to learn about life in Bradberton Boys League.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Ol Sugartop Buckaroos reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2310 Bradberton Boys League Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the
Coventry, Connecticut native said.

For the season, Sinatra had 13 saves in 20 relief appearances, which totaled 22. He fanned 24 betters, while walking 4 and put up a record of 1-0 to go with his 0.00 ERA.

He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 16. Frisbee Firth of the Bay Path Voyagers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Rum Knoffen of the Ol Sugartop Buckaroos finished third with 1 first place vote.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

1 July 2310

Fog Division Still Up for Grabs, Harbor Division Down to Two

The Fog Division has all four teams alive with 15 games to play. The Echo Lake Harbormen lead the division with a 40-35 record, but they are only five games ahead of 4th-place Dalton Farm. The Harbormen and National Park Gulpers are the only two teams in the division above .500 and are just a game apart. It appears one of those two teams will win.

In the Harbor Division, Cranberry Island and Acadia are already eliminated, so Grand Hotel, up by five games, and Far Harbor are the two remaining. One of those two teams have won the Harbor Division for the past six years since the Fogcrawlers moved to the Fog Division.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719097757

Beach balls were coming in at Chris Knickerbocker in July and he banged, bashed and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .366 batting average and hauling in the Vim! League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 32-year-old Echo Lake right fielder collected 41 hits last month in 26 games. He put up 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Knickerbocker also drew 9 walks and compiled a .413 on-base percentage.

Posting a .328 batting average to date, Knickerbocker has 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Tony Hose will be bringing July's Vim! League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Echo Lake. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Hose started 6 games, going 5-1 with 26 strikeouts in 49.1 innings as he compiled his 3.10 ERA.

In 18 starts this season Hose has fashioned a 9-7 record and a 4.56 ERA.

Swanee Law earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Vim! League for last month's performance. The boyish National Park first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Law hit .320 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Presently Law is hitting .319 with 26 home runs and 78 RBIs. He has played in 74 games and scored 51 times.

The MDIL has 15 games to play, just like the Vim! League, but only one team is out of the race. The Nucleus Radchickens and Haddock Cove Engineers currently lead their divisions. The Radchickens lead by five games, while the Engineers lead by four.

For a rookie just breaking in, Vince Eller certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the MDIL Batter of the Month award for July.

The 28-year-old right fielder for the Oceanarium Oceanics hit .363 with 15 home runs, 38 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

This season Eller has hit at a .358 clip with 65 RBIs, 28 home runs and 48 runs scored.

The #1 pitcher this past month in the Mount Desert Island League was Tiger Robinson of the Haddock Cove Engineers. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing July with a superb 4-1 record and a 3.33 ERA.

The Engineers star made 6 starts and surrendered 42 hits in 46 innings. He struck out 36 and walked 29.

Thus far this season, Robinson has worked 92.2 innings with 69 strikeouts en route to a 6-4 record and a 4.56 ERA.

The Brainiacs proved to be unbeatable in the 2310 Vim! Rookie Series as they shocked the MS Azalea Shipwrecks by sweeping the series.

Glowing Grove finished them off 11-5 in the finale at Gangsters Stadium. This is the 1st title for the club.

The new champs finished the regular season 40-30 and claimed first place in the Western Atlantic Division.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1719097760

It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 22 Bad Breath Seth has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Glowing Grove Brainiacs star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .441 average with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

In 343 career games Seth is hitting at a .269 pace with 310 hits with 50 doubles, 3 triples and 64 homers while scoring 225 runs and racking up 196 RBIs. He logged 173 walks and owns a .376 on-base percentage.

Let Segree has made fans throughout VIM! Rookie League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 4-0 record. No pitcher in the VIM! Rookie League threw better in July, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 4 starts Segree compiled a 3.60 ERA, putting up a 4-0 record, striking out 23 and tossing 30 innings.

Since joining the league, Segree has compiled an ERA of 5.49 with a career record of 25-24. He has 394 strikeouts in 442.2 innings and has held opponents to a .279 batting average.

The future looks extremely bright for Bryce Swain. At the age of 15, many players are still trying to find their way in Maine Youth Leagues.

Swain has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Mount Desert Island Four Most Valuable Player Award.

"I didn't expect to hit .359 this year, that's for sure," the right fielder said.

The National Park Rangers star also put up a .462 on-base percentage this year, with 42 hits, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

He received 3 first place votes out of a possible 8. Shin Nishi of the National Park Rangers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Home Run Baker of the Beaver Creek Bowlers finished third with 2 first place votes.

He may have less experience than most of his Maine Youth Leagues peers, but that didn't slow RB Ferrell down at all in 2310.

At the age of 17, the Diamond Cove first baseman has been named the winner of the Great Diamond Island League Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .294 batting average and a .408 on-base percentage this year. In 40 games he piled up 37 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 31 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

15 August 2310

CBO Analysis

With 117 of 130 games played, we now have a much better idea of how the rest of the 2310 regular season will go. Three teams are officially in; ten teams are officially out. The three teams in--Nordhagen Beach, Vault 81, and Roxbury--are three teams we think have the best chance of winning the Sole Survivor Series. More teams will also clinch soon in the new 12-team playoffs. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (132.1, o)
2) Vault 81 Dwellers (123.5, o)
3) Bunker Hill 75ers (118.8, +)
4) County Crossing Bloodbugs (114.6, ++)
5) Oberland T-51s (112.2, -)
6) Quincy Gunners (107.6, ++)
7) Roxbury Rad Sox (106.8, -)
8) University Point Deathclaws (106.1, -)
9) Starlight Killers (102.1, +)
10) Nahant Celtics (100.8, ++)
11) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (100.1, -)
12) Salem Witch Hats (99.0, +)
13) The Slog Ghouls (97.6, --)
14) Easy Town Assaultrons (96.9, +)
15) Spectacle Island Reapers (90.2, +)
16) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (89.8, +)
17) Egret Ninjas (88.1, --)
18) Diamond City Swatters (87.1, o)
19) Atom Cats (75.3, ++)
20) Lexington Synths (75.0, ++)
21) Goodneighbor Hancocks (74.0, -)
22) FHE Yao Guai (73.4, -)
23) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (72.4, --)
24) Malden Grognaks (69.2, +)
25) Concord Radstags (66.2, -)
26) Southie Brews (52.4, +)
27) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (46.7, -)
28) Cambridge Coursers (37.0, o)

After 117 games, the playoff seeding would look like this:

NCA
1. z-Nordhagen Beach
2. Bunker Hill
3. The Slog (wins the season series over County Crossing 6-4)
4. County Crossing
5. Sunshine Tidings (wins the season series over Starlight 6-4)
6. Starlight

SCA
1. z-Vault 81
2. z-Quincy
3. Roxbury
4. Oberland
5. University Point (wins season series over Egret 3-1)
6. Egret

Brotherhood League

The BL still has six teams above .500, but obviously they cannot all make it to the playoffs. The league's best bet would be to overtake both Sunshine Tidings and Starlight in the Institute League, but we see few scenarios where both of those teams would fall below five BL teams.

Nordhagen Beach is already in, and they have a Magic # of just 2 to clinch the BL. With a six-game lead over Bunker Hill, the Party Boys are likely to be the #1 seed. County Crossing has gotten hot, allowing the Bloodbugs to catch up with a cold The Slog team. The rest of Salem, Easy Town, and Nahant are chasing but need a hot streak here at the end to get in.

The Bugs do not have an easy path to the #3 seed, beginning with three road series at University Point, Nahant, and Atom before hosting the Celtics and the Hats to finish the season. The Ghouls do not have it any easier, including going to the Reapers and Boys before hosting Easy Town, Nordhagen Beach, and the Chemists.

Institute League

We already mentioned all three teams still alive. The 75ers have

The Chemists have visits to Rozbury and The Slog sandwiched between three easier series with Lexington twice and Cambridge. The Killers have a much tougher task of staying in the playoff hunt with battles against Oberland, Spectacle Island, Concord, Salem, and Bunker Hill. With four of the five opponents still in the playoff hunt, Starlight has some work to do.

Minutemen League

This league has been a mess all season, but we are pretty sure it is down to two. Quincy leads University Point by a game, making an interesting battle heading down to the final two weeks. Jamaica Plain and Spectacle Island are still alive, but they would need a massive amount of help to pass either the Claws or Egret of the Railroad League.

For the Gunners, their road is not that difficult. Sure, they begin with a matchup against Nordhagen Beach, but then they go to Atom and Southie. They then finish with a home matchup with the Cats and then a trip to Jamaica Plain. The Deathclaws have a similar schedule with a home matchup with County Crossing, a road trip to the Brews, home games against Goodneighbor and Southie, and then a trip to Vault 81.

Railroad League

The Dwellers have been hot of late, propelling them into 1st place over a cold Roxbury team that has lost five straight. Egret is also on a seven-game losing streak weakening a once-dominant league. The Dwellers and Sox are probably not yet fighting, and Oberland and the Ninjas are still jostling for seeding in the playoffs, in which probably all four are in. Diamond City is alive officially, but has no scenario where they can make it other than winning 13 straight and Egret or University Point losing 13 straight.

Schedule-wise, the Dwellers are going to have a tough time holding on to 1st place and will have earned it if they finish on top. They play Bunker Hill, at Oberland and Egret, host the T-51s, and finish with the Claws. On the other hand, Roxbury is likely only to meet one playoff-bound team in the final two weeks. The Rad Sox face Sunshine Tidings, visit Salem, host FHE and the Reapers, and then finish at Diamond City.

He really dazzled on the diamond this week with a .591 average to take home the trophy. The Nahant third baseman went 13-for-22, drove in 5 runs, scored 9 times and hit 5 home runs.

So far this year Ball is hitting .320 with 36 home runs.
