Right now, your dynasty is about hitting my ideal zone (especially after being reminded of those numbers). Where I draw the line is usually three-peats, or three out of four situations.

At least it isn't like my projecting real MLB save, where from 2020-2035 Dodgers won 10 of 15 WS. Even I admit that is a bridge too far.

The crazy thing is that I think it can happen in the MLB because of the financial model where the top franchises like the Dodgers and Yankees can double salaries that teams like the A's, Royals, and Pirates can offer. I have wished for a long time that the MLB would switch to a model similar to the NFL's or NBA's where good teams can remain good if they properly manage their salaries, not because they can outbid every team for a player's services.

CBO Draft Results

The 2310 CBO Draft is complete. For the first time in CBO history, a college player is the #1 overall pick. Malden chose 21-year-old CF Candy Kline out of Nuka University with that pick. We broke down Kline's scouting report in the draft preview. Let's take a look first at the Top 10 with added scouting reports of any players not covered in the draft preview.

Round 1
Round 1, Pick 1 - Malden Grognaks: CF Candy Kline, Nuka University, age 21 - Was not included in the published mock draft.
Round 1, Pick 2 - Glowing Sea Radscorpions: RF Naga Arakaki, Concord, age 17 - Was predicted to go #5 overall.
Round 1, Pick 3 - Southie Brews: 2B Glove Payton, Harwich, age 17 - Was predicted to go #10 overall.
Round 1, Pick 4 - Cambridge Coursers: 2B Plastic Augmon, Castle, age 18 - Scouts did not predict Augmon to go in the 1st round, but the highly-talented infielder out of the Castle Freedom went 4th overall. Scouts love his OBP potential with his ability to work the count and draw walks, and he may be on the CBO team to begin the 2311 season. He needs to work on getting hits and driving the ball more, but he has the potential to develop those skills and become a regular top-of-the-lineup hitter for the Coursers.
Round 1, Pick 5 - Atom Cats: C Red Jay Jones, Beantown, age 18 - Was predicted to go 2nd overall.
Round 1, Pick 6 - FHE Yao Guai: 2B Jeet November, Greater Mass, age 17 - Scouts had November going 16th overall, but he is another talented infielder who can play multiple positions. He could even develop into a corner OF under the right circumstances, though we project him at 2B. November has the ability to spray the ball, which will mean good things for his batting average. He will need to work on hitting off-speed pitches and avoid getting fooled into strikeouts that could have been walks.
Round 1, Pick 7 - Concord Radstags: SP Chase Seashores, CIT Academy, age 17 - Was predicted to go 21st overall.
Round 1, Pick 8 - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud: SP Tarzan Rogers, Sandwich, age 17 - Scouts picked Rogers to go at the end of the 1st round, but instead he was picked by the Silver Shroud out of Sandwich in a needs pick. Rogers had a successful youth career, going 10-6 with a 2.40 ERA his senior season with the Screamers. He has a 3-pitch arsenal consisting of a lot of movement. His cutter is just tough for hitters to track. Scouts see him developing a good array of control, which will help him reach as high as ace on a squad.
Round 1, Pick 9 - Diamond City Swatters: SP Macho Lopez, Lynn Pier, age 17 - Was predicted to go 97th overall (Round 4, 13th pick).
Round 1, Pick 10 - Lexington Synths: 1B Freenow Sullivan, Hester, age 17 - We did not cover Sullivan in the mock draft, making him a surprise pick in the Top Ten. Sullivan only had one year as a starter for the Mechanists, finishing with a .306/17/54 line. He has the ability to be a power-hitting 1B. In the showcase, Sullivan showed off that talent, leading all prospects in batting cage home runs. He also is a good defensive 1B, which will serve his team well.

Some players that were surprise high and low picks based on scouts' potential ratings are mentioned below.

1-20 - County Crossing - SP Josh Brown, North Providence - Brown was injured for much of his senior season, pitching in only three games. In those three games, he was 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA in 16.1 innings of work. He is a six-pitch pitcher, but he is more a Jack of all trades, master of none. He has great control, which will only get better. However, unless he drops a pitch or two to better develop four good pitches, he may never find himself as a starter in the CBO.

2-12 - Spectacle Island - SP Billy Baxton, Hester - Baxton was a surprise pick since scouts like several other starters a lot more than the 6'9" rightie. While Baxton's fast balls are superior, he seems more poised to be a closer than starter, making his pick this high seem like a reach. He had some nice stats, including striking out 122 batters in 112.1 innings in his senior season with the Mechanists. However, he could get lit up at times, and players hit 13 home runs off him in 2310. Scouts do not predict him to be a CBO starter, so moving to the bullpen is probably his best shot at success.

3-4 - Cambridge - 1B McMack Bingham, Boston College Prep - The OSA mock had Bingham as the 11-th overall pick, but he dropped to the 3rd round where the Coursers scooped him up. Bingham, who hit 28 home runs as a senior with the Professors, has the potential to be an elite, 40+ home run hitter in the CBO. if he hits his full power potential, Bingham will be a steal even in an early round.

3-11 - Goodneighbor - CF Jay Gabby, Wellfleet - Gabby was the scouts' 8th-overall pick in their mock, so we already covered his attributes. We have no idea why he fell this far. He doesn't even have a glass jaw.

4-8 - Fort Hagen - 3B Huck McFarland, North Charles Bank - McFarland is another player predicted to be taken in the 1st or 2nd round who dropped a bit. He is a talented all-around player who could play anywhere but catcher on the field. Scouts like his power potential, giving his team a boost in home runs wherever they decide to play him. Scouts have predicted he will be a corner IF, probably a middle-of-the-lineup 3B.

5-22 - University Point - C Sparky Henderson, Dennis - Henderson is one of the better hitting catcher prospects in the draft, with the potential to lead all catchers in the CBO in average and power once he fully develops. His ability at the catcher position will need to vastly improve, but he could be a nice 5th-round steal if he does improve his defense.

6-15 - Easy Town - LF Mandirali Tasilova, South Beach - Not the most talented as a defensive corner OF, Tasilova showed flashes in the showcase of possessing a dangerous bat. Tasilova could be a top average hitter in the league with enough pop to drive out 20+ homers per season. Scouts like his work ethic, which could do him well in advancing his talents in the minors.

9-25 - Vault 81 - C Lew Ironhorse, Andrew Station - Ironhorse was not a great catcher project because of his lackluster defensive skills. However, he is one of the top-hitting prospects at catcher, making his 9th-round status a bit of a mystery. He can hit for contact and power, but needs to be more selective on his swings.

13-2 - Glowing Sea - 1B Porky Zancoc, Thompson Heights - Zancoc probably fell because he did not express a lot of interest in his future in baseball. He has a big build, and as his muscles fill out, the 17-year-old may be a difference-maker with his bat. He is able to lay off bad pitches, waiting for the pitch he likes in his sweet spot. If he develops, he could find his way moving up the ladder in the minors, maybe slowly, but surely.

15-16 - Salem - 3B DJ Primetime, Plymouth - A player with a lot of potential that was never converted to production with the Hunters, Primetime will need to work hard to ever see the CBO. However, he has a frame that could help him be a high OPS hitter once he figures out the game of baseball. Should that happen, Primetime could be the best 15th-round pick the CBO has seen.

I'm not particularly worried, because as many examples prove, rich people are perfectly capable of being as clueless with management as the rest of us

Season Pass Association News

The Season Pass Association draft has concluded, meaning we are in the offseason. There are a few changes to report on and it has everything to do with money.

The SPA has experienced some waning interest because of the quality of play and the easier access to watching baseball in the Commonwealth. Nuka World League pioneer John-Caleb Bradberton has created a select team of local youth league stars to prepare them for playing in the Commonwealth Youth League.

According to a statement released by Bradberton, the Nuka Academy for elite youth will work in cooperation with Nuka University. The Academy will of course have a Nuka-Cola theme, called the Cola Makers. The plan is to join the Commonwealth Youth League in 2313.

Nuka University has already begun operation as the training center for Nuka-Cola expansion, including experimental new Nuka-Cola flavors expected to be introduced at some future date.

The Season Pass Association has also announced other money-saving measures by reducing the minor league seasons from 90 games per team to 60. That will take effect in the 2311 season where all of the Amusement Park League, NWL Rookie League, Mount Desert Island League, and Vim! Rookie League will now reduce their seasons to 60 games.

Other cost-saving measures may be taken in the future. Some suggestions were that the SPA seasons become weekend-only leagues. We will announce any other changes as the information becomes available to us.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Saesee Tiin of the National Park Gulpers finished second in voting, while Tim Aren't of the Grand Hotel Atoms finished third.

SPA Draft

The 2310 Draft has concluded with SP Rude Rube Waddell of the Mad Mulligan Travelers going 1st overall to the Quantum Nukalurks. Let's break down what some of the players drafted bring in potential to the Season Pass Association.

Round 1, Pick 1 - Quantum Nukalurks: SP Rude Rube Waddell, Mad Mulligan, age 17 - Waddell was highly successful in the Bradberton Boys League, going 16-7 with a 2.23 ERA. He is a fastball first pitcher but has a 4-pitch repertoire. He has good control of his pitches, which could make him a valuable starter in the NWL.
Round 1, Pick 2 - Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs: SP Tony the Natural Olguin, Pleasant Cove, age 17 - Olguin was also a successful youth pitcher, going 18-8 with a 1.81 ERA. He is also a fastball first pitcher with five pitches he can use. He needs to work on his control to cut down on walks before he will be ready for the Vim! League.
Round 1, Pick 3 - Acadia Acadians: SP Deacon McKechnie, King Cola, age 17 - The third pitcher taken, McKechnie hails for the Youths of the BBL. His main pitch is a slider with great movement, making it tough for hitters to make good contact on. He also has a fastball that can top out at around 99 MPH, so he has been able to blow balls past batters in the past. He also features a changeup, but that pitch has been susceptible to the long ball, so he needs to develop it more.
Round 1, Pick 4 - Wild Gatorclaws: CF Speed Demon Briggs, Wixon, age 18 - Nicknamed "Speed Demon," Briggs was highly successful, including swiping 19 of 20 his senior season with the Shovels. He is not the greatest contact hitter, but he could be a force in the NWL if he learns how to hit better. Briggs should be a defensive ace in CF for the Gatorclaws.
Round 1, Pick 5 - Quartz Star Force: SS Push Em Lazzeri, Echo Point, age 17 - Lazzeri is another great defender that can play pretty much anywhere in the field, which should move him up the Star Force chain. He struggled to get hits, so he will need to work on his hitting before he is ready to start in the NWL.

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

2 January 2311

New Year, New Hopes

The calendar has changed to 2311 as we enter our 14th season of the full Commonwealth Baseball Organization. There is some new hope to the season as the CBO has been expanding its boundaries and finding a number of players through expanded scouting efforts.

Speaking of, Commissioner Nate Howard has allowed that scouting finds can be signed to the CBO up until the beginning of the preseason on March 4. After that time, there will be a signing freeze on unregistered players until the 2311 offseason where players found will be placed in a "parity draft" where teams with worse records will have a chance to select those players for signing. Howard has expressed some concerns that individual scouting finds could unfairly support some teams over others.

With that news, team scouts have fanned out in the wastes to see if they can find the next big talent to propel their team before that March 4 deadline.

In the meantime, teams are preparing for the 2311 season with camps and practices meant to prepare their teams for the 2311, of course beginning with the Nuka Cup Tournament in March, a brief Spring Training regiment to make final decisions on player placement, and then the 2311 regular season beginning on April 10.

The newly-formed Commonweath Collegiate Baseball League has expanded the number of institutions of higher learning baseball teams to 24, and the Commonwealth Youth League allowed eight more teams in. We will feature the CYL later with new talent and players to watch for the 2311 Draft, along with the expansion and realignment of divisions. However, these are the new teams joining the CYL: Attleboro Deejays, Bridgewater Baristas, Coventry Quads, Ipswich Quarriers, Kingstown Royals, Reading Rhinos, Salem Werewolves, and Sturbridge Rangers.

Commonwealth Youth League

Ten Freshmen to Watch

As the 2311 season approaches, the Commonwealth Youth League has not only welcomed eight new teams to the league, but there is a bevy of young talent entering the league this season. Let's take a look at 10 we think we'll see in the CBO one day.

1. P Jah Marcus, Boston College Prep Professors - Marcus enters with two great pitches: fastball and slider. He has a sidearm form that will make him difficult to pick up. He has a curveball and changeup that needs work, and he will need to work on his stamina to be a starter.

2. 2B Size Man Green, West Quincy Atomatoys - Green is ready to start his freshman season for the Atomatoys. He is already considered a good contact hitter who can foul off a ton of balls until the pitcher makes a mistake. He will not be a home run hitter, but due to his speed, he should get his fair share of doubles and triples.

3. CF Chani Zendaya, CIT Academy Yahoos - Zendaya may have all the tools to be a leadoff hitter in the CBO. He is going to be one of the better hitters in the CYL, while he is also able to patrol any part of the outfield. He will be a solid base stealer, too, meaning he is already an asset for the Yahoos.

4. P Chad OJ, Brown Bubblers - OJ is considered a relief pitcher to start, but he could develop into a starting pitcher as a force. OJ's best two pitches are his curve and cutter. He also has a changeup and sinker that his coaches are trying to help him develop, but they are not there yet. OJ can already be clocked at 94, meaning he can blow his cutter past batters.

5. 1B Jam Armchase, Sudbury Celebs - Armchase has a build that will make him a top pick, assuming he stays healthy and produces as expected. He will be able to get a lot of solid contact on balls, and with his power, quite a few should clear the fence. He will want to work on his defense, but he should be a CBO-ready player even if he is just OK on defense.

6. LF Wind Dale Davis, Chatham Lighthouse - Davis looks to be an OPS nightmare for opposing pitchers. He has a smooth, powerful swing and has surprising patience for his age. He could play either corner outfield position. While he will not be the speediest outfielder, his glove seems good for catching everything in his range.

7. RF Badge Hurtley, Kingstown Royals - Hurtley is a powerful lefty batter who can it the ball wherever he needs to. His swing is an even one, meaning he is more likely to challenge for the batting title than the home run title, but he has the strength to knock the ball over lower fences. He can play either corner OF position where he should be a good defender.

8. LF Armor Rios, Worcester Crows - A quiet young man, Rios always has his eye on the field. He wants to play, and he wants to play well. He is well-balanced with the bat in hand. He should be able to collect a good amount of hits, homers, and walks due to his skills. In the end, he'll probably be a middle-of-the-lineup hitter.

9. SS Merlin Hodges, Diamond City Newsboys - Hodges is going to be the best defensive player for the Newsboys, and he may already be the best player overall. He is slight right now, but the DC coaches are already talking about his raw power, thinking he could be good enough to challenge for a home run title during his youth career.

10. CF Rez Wrected, Acton Ups - Wrected is a speedy player who is really good at fighting off pitches. In the showcase, he fouled off 14 straight off-speed pitches. He can put the ball anywhere and extend a single to double. Wrected should be a good all-around hitter, but watch for him in the batting average territory.

10 Other Freshmen We Are Watching:

11. LF Jay Dendanyaals, Plymouth Hunters
12. 3B Sluggo Luge, Spectacle Island Specters
13. 1B Jack O'Spades, Wellfleet Tarberries
14. 3B Thaddeus Gotmossed, Dennis Menaces
15. C T'Pol Lovsky, Lynn Pier Gamers
16. 2B Andy Musicsheets, Concord Iceboys
17. 2B Joe Bureau, Worcester Crows
18. SP Warren Woodsman, Beerthirty Sippers
19. SP Lefty Alvarez, Bridgewater Baristas
20. C Gary Email, Woodlawn Gnomes

You know, reading some of these names, particularly "Wind Dale Davis" reminds me of a compilation someone posted one time of the auto-generated closed captioning trying to deal with real life Baseball players names and getting it wrong. My favorite was Edwin Diaz. I'll let you guess what the machine speech to text'd his name as, but it's not suitable for polite company.

Today in the CBO

Settlements Today

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

16 January 2311 - Vault 95/Glowing Sea

Hi fans of our old series, Settlements Today. We have covered many of the settlements related with the CBO, but we most certainly have not covered them all. One of the CBO's newest teams, the Glowing Sea Radscorpions, has not had their settlement featured. So let's do it.

Not that I would ever call myself a fan of what the pre-War Vault Tec company did as experiments in human survival and what purpose they served, but Vault 95's experiment was one in testing human addiction and withdrawal.

The vault's overseer was a one-year tenure with a newly-elected overseer each year. It was not clear who the different overseers were, but we know that Jane was the overseer when Vault-Tec's secret agent released chems for the vault dwellers to consume. Nothing but chaos followed with the vault succumbing to chaos.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1720654431

Who was Jane Myers?

According to what we could piece together from research at the Boston Public Library, Before her time as overseer of Vault 95, Jane Myers was a figure of ambition and compassion, deeply rooted in the community of Boston. Born and raised in Boston, Jane's life was centered around the rich academic and cultural heritage that Boston had to offer. It was this environment that shaped her into a person of both resilience and empathy.

Jane attended Commonwealth University, where she earned her degree in social work, driven by a desire to understand the social challenges faced by her community. Her academic journey was marked by a deep engagement with issues of addiction and poverty, and she wrote a distinguished thesis on the effectiveness of community-based rehabilitation programs versus institutional approaches.

After graduation, Jane worked for several years at a local nonprofit dedicated to helping those with substance abuse issues. Her innovative approaches, which often blended traditional rehabilitation methods with community support initiatives, gained her recognition in her field. She was known for her hands-on approach, often going beyond the call of duty to ensure that every individual felt valued and supported in their journey toward recovery.

When the opportunity to join Vault 95 came up, Jane saw it as a chance to apply her skills on a larger scale, under the guise of a promising project by Vault-Tec aimed at genuine rehabilitation. Her motivation was always clear: to facilitate real change and provide a safe environment for recovery, free from the societal stigmas and pressures that so often derailed such efforts on the outside. She was in love with the prospects of a vault where no substances would be available to the addicted citizens housed there.

Information was missing about the selection of the non-addicts of the vault, but Jane was assumed to be one of the few who was never addicted and also one of the few qualified to offer true therapy for the recovering addicts.

Based on the above, I can only assume that the secret agent was tasked with releasing the chems when Jane was overseer since she was likely to be the final step in helping the addicts to overcome their addictions.

Reign of the Gunners

When Nate Howard first encountered Vault 95, it was overrun by Gunners guarding the facility. Nate was on a mission with Irish Cait, the owner of the Starlight Killers. Cait opened up about the mission.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1720654431

"I was addicted to chems," Cait said. "While working in Downtown Boston, I heard solid rumors of a contraption that could instantly cure addiction. I asked Nate to accompany me there so that I could, you know, heal. Turns out it worked."

Blessed with the powers of a god, Nate annihilated the Gunners overrunning the joint and helped Irish Cait to cure her addictions. After, Nate made sure that a contingent of Brotherhood of Steel soldiers occupied and guarded the place. Not to challenge Nate, the BoS watched but did not occupy. Nate helped it to become a safe haven and a stopover for those daring to enter the Glowing Sea to the southeast.

Vault 95 Today

Vault 95 has become a center for scientific studies on the Glowing Sea along with experiments on how to disperse the overwhelming number of rads in the area. Many of the Commonwealth's roaming radstorms begin in the Glowing Sea. Natural rainstorms gather rads from the Glowing Sea and then unleash radlightning and radrain that people have to take cover from, well, unless they are already ghoulified. The rain, that is. The lightning will zap a ghoul, too.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1720654507

Vault 95 is one of the few places where factions work in complete unison in research. It is an outpost that stops some of the fiercest of radbeasts from entering the Boston Commonwealth.

Glowing Sea Baseball?

When Nate Howard first proposed the idea of baseball near Vault 95, the first thought was that too many games would be postponed or canceled due to radstorms. When there was a minor league team there, that was the case with most games scheduled for the morning and played when possible.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1720654431

Nate also had an idea of how to solve that problem: a domed stadium. Technically, it would solve every team's problem of radstorm cancellations, but for the area outside Vault 95, it was crucial to make a CBO team a reality.

Now, the Glowing Sea Dome (see the artist rendition attached) is a specimen of marvel in the Commonwealth. The Glowing Sea Radscorpions may not be competitive for several years, but fans have flocked to the Dome to experience something they never had a chance to experience.

Marie Curie, Owner

Curie, originally C.V.R.I.E. (Contagions Vulnerability Robotic Infirmary Engineer), was a Miss Nanny whose conscience now occupies a synthetic human being. Yes, confusing, right. Curie is a robot synth, as far as we know, the first and only of her kind.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1720654434

Curie is also a former of Nate Howard in the wastes. After helping Nate to free the Commonwealth, Curie began Curie, Inc., a company dedicated to researching and seeking cures for deadly and debilitating diseases of the wastes. Her company is even focused on reversing the effects of ghoulification, as well as holding off the aftereffects of going from ghoulified to feral.

She originally was not interested in owning a team, but Nate insisted that she would be an important addition to the league. She finally agreed with the expression that she would be hands-off and let the baseball people operate the team.

You may be figuring out the real people behind some of the names I create :D You pointed out one of my real-life heroes of the gridiron.

Wind Dale Davis is derived from one of my favorite football players as a kid, Wendell Davis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendel...(wide_receiver)

I do enjoy all the references you drop in with the names. I'm sure there are plenty of ones I miss like this. I should just try to find LSU players in every name lol

How about an easy giveaway? The 2310 winner of the SCA Vim! Pitcher Award and the new ace of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Oh man, a settlements today, haven't had one of those in awhile. Some of the best pic choices too of any in the series, especially that ballpark.

I'll start paying a bit closer attention maybe. I do have a knack for puns, but so far I've just been going with the flow unless it's been super obvious. Fictional names are always one of my favorite world-building aspects of any series though, and honestly probably why I've been so obsessed with the Elder Scrolls mod for Crusader Kings lately.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 March 2311

CBO in March

The 2311 CBO season nears as the 2311 Nuka Cup Tournament is just days away. Just like last season, there are four regions hosted by the final four teams in the 2310 playoffs each with seven teams.

In Nordhagen Beach, the Party Boys, Vault 81, The Slog, Spectacle Island, Nahant, Atom, and Malden will all battle in the double-elimination tournament for the right to play in the semifinals.

In Oberland, the T-51s, Sunshine Tidings, University Point, Salem, Goodneighbor, Concord, and Southie will fight for the semifinals.

In Starlight, the Killers, Roxbury, County Crossing, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, FHE, and Cambridge will battle it out.

Finally, in Quincy, the Gunners, Bunker Hill, Egret, Easy Town, Diamond City, Fort Hagen, and Glowing Sea will try to advance.

This season, the first round of 2vs7, 3vs6, and 4vs5 will be a single-game series due to the limited time available before Spring Training begins. The other series outside of the regional championship will be a three-game series. The regional championship is a first to three wins with the Winner's Bracket team starting with a 1-0 advantage.

The Nuka Cup Tournament begins on March 4 and concludes with the final game of the championship on March 22. This is the shortest span of the tournament in its history.

August Oberland Shopping Around

Oberland T-51s owner August Oberland has officially put his team up for sale. Under what appears to be a concept of buy-low, sell-high, Oberland is trying to sell the rights to the team while looking to maintain rights to Oberland Stadium.

The Oberland group, that has ties to business at the Beantown Brewery and across the river into Graygarden, has released a notice that the team was up for sale. Commissioner Nate Howard has vowed to keep the team there as a great depot along the railroad tracks of Boston.

No immediate group has emerged as a favorite to purchase the team, but we will keep you updated.

An Early Look at the 2311 Draft

The OSA Scouts believe that the draft pools are still not quite made up of a 1st-round talent's worth of sure-thing prospects. Still, with the growing number of youth and college teams associated with the CBO, there is a greater talent pool than was originally available in drafts with just a handful of worthy picks.

Let's take a look at a prospect per position in our earliest look at the 2311 draft:

P - Buzzcut McDonald, Hester Mechanists - McDonald went 12-5 with a 2.41 ERA in his junior season. He is a straight up power pitcher, commanding a fastball with a top speed of 98 MPH. He also has a decent cutter that makes his curveball and changeup devastating off-speed pitches.
C - Slitter Faith, Taunton Giants - Faith may not be the best defensive catcher, but he is the best-hitting one. He batted .275 with 21 home runs and 40 RBI in 2310, and he is only filling out more in his 6'6" frame.
1B - Tonguetie Edder, Hope Firestarters - Edder emerged in his sophomore season as not only a power-hitting 1B but one who could hit for average. He doubled down on that potential by hitting .314 wit 18 home runs and 47 RBI in his junior season. Edder is also a decent defensive 1B.
2B - Lee Mayhew, Wareham Comets - Scouts are crazy about his contact potential though his batting average has struggled as he has tried to adjust to hitting a variety of pitches. Still, he has the tools to be a .300/30 hitter, and he can swipe a base when needed.
3B - Tarry Chik, Truro Hatchlings - Chik has expressed the desire to work on his power this offseason, which would make him lethal after coming off a .331/12/39 season. He was a but banged up in 2310, thus the low home run numbers, but he is aiming for 30 home runs in the youth league season.
SS - Brandon Larsonist, Freeplat Wicked Goods - Larsonist is a top defensive prospect who also has a good bat. He hit .291/21/51 in 2310 while still figuring out his style.
LF - Charles Towner, Provincetown Land Pirates - Towner was awesome in 2310, batting .307/25/68 while also working on a class project for building jet-powered boats that could travel over 200 MPH.
CF - Eden Babz, Weymouth Locksmiths - The skinnier, speedier of the Babz twins, Eden Babz saw his average drop from .320 to .296 while his home run numbers jumped from 14 to 21. He is not considered to have tremendous power, but Babz rips pitches, occasionally knocking them over the fence. When it drops in the field, he can extend bases. In the outfield, he is elite in running down a batted ball. Scouts say he is already defensively ready to play in the CBO at 17.
RF - Riot Darton, Marlborough Minigunners - Darton batted .293/28/58 as a junior, which was not even as good as his sophomore season. He is considered to have potential to battle for home run crowns in the CBO.

Best overall prospect: CF Eden Babz, Weymouth - Babz is the scouts' early favorite to be drafted #1 overall since he brings value to hitting, defense, and base running.

Best college prospect: 1B Bill Duggle, JR, Boston College Eagles - Duggle is a power-hitting junior who batted .309 with 26 home runs and 74 RBI in his sophomore season with the Eagles. He is a durable defensive player who could find himself in the OF in the pros.

Three other pitchers to watch:
1. SP Alex Language, Beantown Sprouts - Language's yearly records in the CYL have been 11-4, 14-0, and 13-1. He has had ERAs of 1.42 and 1.19 in the past two seasons. McDonald is considered the more talented prospect, but Language has been highly efficient.
2. SP Meribrand Docybuck, Provincetown Land Pirates - Docybuck has not played with a good team, going 9-9 in 2310 despite a 2.81 ERA. Still, his pitches top out at 100, making him tough to hit.
3. SP Melvin Terminator, Wareham Comets - Terminator has been highly efficient, just like Language. He finished 9-5 with a 2.15 ERA in 2310, but he can strike out batters with the best of them, downing 145 in 129.2 innings.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

13 March 2311

Nuka Cup Tournament

We have played the first nine games of the 2311 Nuka Cup Tournament. Three teams per region have already been eliminated, and we are currently in the second day of determining the Winners Bracket champions of each region while three other teams will fight on to try to take the regional championship. Let's look at results up to this point by region by series records (one or three-game series):

Nordhagen Beach Regional

Series 1 - #5 Nahant 1, #4 Spectacle Island 0
Series 2 - #6 Atom 1, #3 The Slog 0
Series 3 - #2 Vault 81 1, #7 Malden 0

Series 4 - Nahant 2, #1 Nordhagen Beach 1
Series 5 - Atom 2, Vault 81 1
Series 6 - The Slog 3, Malden 0 - Malden eliminated

Series 7 - Vault 81 3, Spectacle Island 0 - Spectacle Island eliminated
Series 8 - The Slog 2, Nordhagen Beach 1 - Nordhagen Beach eliminated

Analysis - This region already offered a surprise as the host Party Boys lost both series they played to the #5 and #3 seeds. The Grognaks and Reapers did the same, sending those three teams packing and beginning to prepare for the regular season. Nordhagen Beach will not even get to use its own stadium to prepare.

#6 Atom and #5 Nahant now play for the Winner's Bracket title, while the loser will play the winner of the Ghouls-Dwellers series.

Quincy Regional

Series 1 - #5 Diamond City 1, #4 Easy Town 0
Series 2 - #6 Fort Hagen 1, #3 Egret 0
Series 3 - #7 Glowing Sea 1, #2 Bunker Hill 0

Series 4 - Diamond City 2, #1 Quincy 1
Series 5 - Fort Hagen 2, Glowing Sea 1
Series 6 - Bunker Hill 3, Egret 0 - Egret eliminated

Series 7 - Easy Town 2, Glowing Sea 1 - Glowing Sea eliminated
Series 8 - Quincy 2, Bunker Hill 1 - Bunker Hill eliminated

Analysis - Another #1 seed lost its first series, as the Swatters showed some life in winning their first two series. The Gunners then stayed alive by eliminating #2 Bunker Hill, meaning another top seed is out early. While the Radscorpions surprised with an upset of the 75ers, they then succumbed to their next two opponents, eliminating them and #3 Egret.

#6 Fort Hagen and #5 Diamond City are now playing for the Winner's Bracket title. The loser of that series meets the winner of the #1 Quincy-#4 Easy Town series.

Oberland Regional

Series 1 - #5 Goodneighbor 1, #4 Salem 0
Series 2 - #3 University Point 1, #6 Concord 0
Series 3 - #2 Sunshine Tidings 1, #7 Southie 0

Series 4 - Goodneighbor 3, #1 Oberland 0
Series 5 - University Point 2, Sunshine Tidings 1
Series 6 - Concord 2, Southie 1 - Southie eliminated

Series 7 - Salem 2, Sunshine Tidings 1 - Sunshine Tidings eliminated
Series 8 - Oberland 2, Concord 1 - Concord eliminated

Analysis - We are seeing a pattern with #5 seeds beating both the #4 and #1 teams, and that is what the Hancocks did in sweeping the #1 T-51s. #2 Sunshine Tidings got past the Brews as they should but then lost their next two series to be eliminated. #6 Concord also fell after eliminating Southie.

In the Winner's Bracket title series, the #5 Hancocks meet up with the #3 Deathclaws in a Minutemen League battle. The loser of that series will face the winner of the #1 T-51s-#4 Witch Hats series.

Starlight Regional

Series 1 - #5 Lexington 1, #4 Jamaica Plain 0
Series 2 - #3 County Crossing 1, #6 FHE 0
Series 3 - #2 Roxbury 1, #7 Cambridge 0

Series 4 - Lexington 2, #1 Starlight 1
Series 5 - County Crossing 3, Roxbury 0
Series 6 - FHE 2, Cambridge 1 - Cambridge eliminated

Series 7 - Roxbury 2, Jamaica Plain 1 - Jamaica Plain eliminated
Series 8 - Starlight 3, FHE 0 - FHE eliminated

Analysis - It was a full sweep in all regionals as the #5 Synths defeated both the #4 Red Rockets and #1 Killers, leading them to the Winner's Bracket final. The Rockets dropped both of their series, as did the Coursers. FHE eliminated the Coursers but then fell to Starlight.

The Winner's Bracket final is the #5 Synths and #3 Bloodbugs. The loser of that series plays the winner of the #1 vs #2 matchup of the Killers and Rad Sox.

CCBL Freshmen to Watch

Like we did with the CYL, let's look at some newcomers to college baseball by position:

P - Edgar Drezek, Nuka University Mixologists - The 6'2" righty has an array of five pitches with his 92-MPH fastball being the least effective. He has a good array of three off-speed pitches that are effective with his good command of locating those pitches: a slider, curve, and changeup.
C - Danny Green, Winthrop College Guardians - Green is a patient hitter, so pitchers will have to fool him to be effective. He is good at putting the bat on the ball, but he is not much of a power hitter. Behind home plate, he is a decent catcher, best at blocking bad pitches. He may not throw out a lot of runners, though.
1B - Sheedy Smith, Plymouth University Pioneers - Smith is a good all-around hitter who should hit for average and power. He is also a solid defensive first baseman. Since he is slow, the lefty can pretty much only play there on defense. He is considered a highly intelligent young man with solid leadership characteristics. He could be a 1st-round grade if he declares for the draft after his freshman season.
2B - Sheen Doyle, Glowing Sea College Glowing Ones - Doyle is a power-hitting second baseman who loves to swing for the fence every at-bat. He has good potential as a .300/30 hitter in his CBO pursuits, meaning that teams will want to pursue him early in whichever draft he declares for.
3B - Donovan Mackey, Northeastern Huskies - Mackey is a great all-around hitter who could challenge for a Triple Crown under the right circumstances. He can place the ball just about anywhere, meaning that defenses have to respect his abilities. That could lead to more hitting opportunities. He is OK on defense, but his strong arm leans toward him projecting as a 3B.
SS - Finnan Hunt, Stonehill College Skyhawks - Hunt is the best of a three-tool SS. He is a top hitter, and may challenge for the top hitter award his freshman season thanks to a good balance of recognizing pitches and driving them to the gap. He's not a power hitter, but he can be one of the top hitters in extra bases. He is a good defensive player who could play anywhere in the infield. He is also super quick and loves to steal bases.
LF - Pro Jabonete, Glowing Sea College Glowing Ones - Jabonete is a good all-around hitter and a solid corner OF. He is expected to battle for a total bases crown with his ability to hit balls hard both in the gaps and over the fence. Opposing outfielders will want to play him deep.
CF - Brandon Brown, Holy Cross Crusaders - While there are not a ton of CBO-talented centerfielders in the CCBL, Brown breaks that mold. He projects as a CF due to his good range in tracking fly balls. He can be a power hitter and will couple that with the ability to get the bat on the ball even when out of the strike zone. He has decent speed which will allow him to swipe a base from time to time.
RF - Sergio Higgins, Bunker Hill Globalists - Higgins waits patiently for his pitch and then hits the hell out of it. A true power hitter, he will only swing for the fence. When he connects, the ball is likely gone. He is not the best defensive player, but he will not be a detriment in RF.

CYL Predictions

The 2311 youth season is upon us, and we have some thoughts about how the CCYL will look. First of all, based on the predictions, the best teams in the North and South regions are the Beantown Sprouts and Swansea Nuka Sox, respectively.

Top hitter candidates in the NR are 1B Van Wrinkle, FR, North Charles Bank; 1B Jimmy-James Sessoms, SR, Marlborough; CF Silver Shroud Marshall, FR, Lynn Pier; and 2B Andy Musicsheets, FR, Concord. In the SR, the top hitter candidates are 3B Sluggo Luge, FR, Spectacle Island; 2B Georg Singer, FR, Hope; 1B Jack O'Spades, FR, Wellfleet; and 1B Bull Lozano, JR, Attleboro.

SP Alex Language, SR, Beantown is the expected top pitcher in the NR, followed by SP Buzzcut McDonald, SR, Hester; SP Paul Bird, FR, Circle; and son of long-time Swatters closer Josh Samm, SP Marlin Samm, SO, Diamond City. In the SR, SP Aaron Noluh, SR, Sandwich; SP Jared Porch, SR, Freeplat; SP Siltbean Ferguson, JR, Taunton; and SP Sparkler Guenot, FR, Brockton are expected to be the top pitchers.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

27 March 2311

Nuka Cup Tournament

We now know our Nuka Cup Tournament FInalists. Let's look back at the past two weeks of action as we work our way to which two teams will battle it out for the 2311 Nuka Cup.

Nordhagen Beach Regional

Series 9 - #5 Nahant 3, #6 Atom 0
Series 10 - #2 Vault 81 2, #3 The Slog 1 - The Slog eliminated

Series 11 - Vault 81 2, Atom 1 - Atom eliminated

Series 12 (Series 9 winner has one-game advantage) - Nahant 3, Vault 81 1 - Nahant advances

Analysis - Nahant proved to be a surprising team, winning all four of its series on the way to the semifinals. The Celtics even surprised us further by trading away one of its emerging stars in 1B Jacob Tarberry (.320/14/53 in 2310) to league rival Nordhagen Beach in the middle of the championship series. Of course, they received LF Boost Widdison who may be ready for the CBO after hitting .306/19/54 with Coast Guard Pier of the BMU last season.

Nahant needed a solid hitter in the outfield more than they needed Tarberry, so it appears to be a beneficial trade for them. With four solid young arms in the pitching rotation, along with the star power of 3B Diamond Ball (.310/38/78), along with a strong veteran presence in C Stuart Costantino, 1B Duncan MacCready, and RF Gene Leftswipe, the Celtics may be a formidable team in 2311.

Quincy Regional

Series 9 - #6 Fort Hagen 2, #5 Diamond City 1
Series 10 - #4 Easy Town 2, #1 Quincy 1 - Quincy eliminated

Series 11 - Diamond City 2, Easy Town 1 - Easy Town eliminated

Series 12 (Series 9 winner has one-game advantage) - Fort Hagen 3, Diamond City 2 - Fort Hagen advances

Analysis - The Silver Shroud appear to have been one of the major winners in their efforts to find talent outside of the CBO before Nate Howard enforces a more standard form of league-wide scouting and making those found talents a part of a CBO draft.

Those signings include C Malificent Shaw, LF KiJana Mallee, SP Elastic Man Haley, SS Jaxon Grits, SP La'Ray Kalel, CL Victor Numbclaw, 3B Alibel Contacts, and 1B Bullet Minnow, all of whom could compete for a starting spot in 2311. They were part of nine free-agent signings for the Shroud right as this tournament was beginning. The other was RP V108 Robinson. All nine players were known to the CBO and had even spent time with other teams before being released and claimed by the Shroud. We are not sure why.

For the Fort Hagen team, they looked solid throughout their regional, scoring more than five runs in 9 of their 10 victories on their way to the Quincy Regional championship.

Oberland Regional

Series 9 - #3 University Point 2, #5 Goodneighbor 1
Series 10 - #1 Oberland 2, #4 Salem 1 - Salem eliminated

Series 11 - Oberland 3, Goodneighbor 0 - Goodneighbor eliminated

Series 12 (Series 9 winner has one-game advantage) - University Point 3, Oberland 2 - University Point advances

Analysis - The winners of the 2310 Nuka Cup Tournament, the Deathclaws returned to the semifinals after knocking off #1 Oberland by winning the last two games, 7-3, 7-3. The Claws are a solid, though aging, team led by the best player the CBO may see for a long time, 1B Barker Cocoa (.365/56/139 in 2310), along with great veterans in LF Chris Hirshfield, CF Aesed Hayjen, and RF Tomas Jones.

Starlight Regional

Series 9 - #5 Lexington 2, #3 County Crossing 1
Series 10 - #2 Roxbury 3, #1 Starlight 0 - Starlight eliminated

Series 11 - County Crossing 2, Roxbury 1 - Roxbury eliminated

Series 12 (Series 9 winner has one-game advantage) - County Crossing 3, Lexington 2 - County Crossing advances

Analysis - Lexington's surprising ride to the Starlight Regional Championship came to an end when the Bloodbugs showed their power to down the Synths. Lexington is not expected to compete for the playoffs in 2311, so their early success was a surprise.

As for the Bugs, they are still loaded, most notably three-time Nuka Hitter Award winner RF Babs Rooth (.342/31/87 in 2310). Like some of the teams that have been good for a long time, County Crossing is dependent on their veteran talent with 27 of their 40 Nuka Cup Tournament players at the age of 30 or above. None of the 13 below 30 are expected to be major contributors in 2311.

Semifinals

(#6 Quincy Regional) Fort Hagen vs (#5 Nordhagen Beach Regional) Nahant
Game 1: Fort Hagen 10, Nahant 8, 11 inn.
Game 2: Fort Hagen 7, Nahant 3
Game 3: Fort Hagen 9, Nahant 3

The Silver Shroud scored a ton of runs, including C Sleve McDichael hitting two home runs. In all, the Shroud scored 26 runs and compiled 38 hits, including 14 extra-base hits.

(#3 Starlight Regional) County Crossing vs (#3 Oberland Regional) University Point

Game 1: University Point 16, County Crossing 9
Game 2: University Point 11, County Crossing 4
Game 3: County Crossing 8, University Point 2

The Deathclaws were the higher seed due to being the 5th seed out of the SCA, while the Bloodbugs were the 6th seed out of the NCA. The Claws had a ton of runs and hits in the first tow games. Chris Recore had two home runs in Game 1, along with one by Barker Cocoa. In Game 2, University Point did not homer at all, but SP Tony Bertha went off with the bat, going 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, and two RBI. His second RBI came on a sacrifice fly. The Claws now look to repeat as Nuka Cup Tournament champions when they face Fort Hagen.

Oberland an interesting choice for a sale, but I guess it's a good sign it can happen to teams other than disaster cases.

It's a roll!

For the record, Oberland will be a stay-put team since Oberland Station is considered a major railroad station connecting the South Charles to North Charles.
