BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 June 2311

The June Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Plain Morris made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the North Charles Association this past month.

The The Slog Ghouls third baseman shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 24-year-old hit .366 with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Currently Morris is batting .306 with 52 hits and 10 home runs. He has knocked in 31 runs and scored 34 times.

SCA Hitter - Stu Gains battered South Charles Association pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Gains told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, Gains hit .365 with 9 home runs, 33 RBIs and scored 23 runs.

So far this season, Gains has hit .333 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and scored 35 times.

NCA Pitcher - It was a monstrous May for the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award winner, Digger Vadim of the Starlight Killers. He put up some mighty scary numbers.

Vadim recorded 6 wins and no losses in 7 starts. Throwing a total of 49.1 innings, he yielded 37 hits, mowed down 44 on strikes, gave up 13 walks and put up a solid ERA of 1.82 in a stellar month on the mound.

In the current season in 11 starts, Digger Vadim has a record of 8-1 with 62 strikeouts in 72 innings and a 2.75 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - When Heaven Fontenot takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in May. The outcome was usually a Goodneighbor victory. His fine 4-1 performance earned him the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy.

The talented Hancocks hurler made 7 starts, worked 53.2 innings, permitted 41 base hits, and struck out 52 while putting up a 2.18 ERA.

On the year, Fontenot has compiled a 7-3 mark with a 2.44 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Jim Geiger's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Cambridge right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .404 with 7 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Geiger also scored 21 times and drove in 21 runs.

This year, Geiger is hitting at a .361 pace with 6 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 46 games and scored 31 times.

SCA Rookie - Glowing Sea's Naga Arakaki collected 33 hits to snare the South Charles Association Rookie of the Month for May.

He batted .330 with 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

The 18-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace.

So far on the season, Arakaki is hitting .329 with 12 home runs, 24 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 57 hits and played in 46 games.

MML Analysis

The MML is chugging along with several former CBO players showing they still have what it takes to contribute to their CBO teams. There have also been some absolute stars, like the Stars League's RF Weston DeGurlz of Castle (Quincy) who is the Triple Crown leader at .460/24/67.

Division leaders are the Watertown Armorers, Finch Farm Shamrocks, Worcester Cannons, and Castle Strength. The Shamrocks have the largest lead of 11 games over the Medford Medics.

Speaking of the Medics, rumor has it that the Atom Cats are seeking a groovier name for their BMU affiliate. Naming suggestions have started to pour in for something both relevant to Medford and meets the Cats' jive.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Kevin Pullup is likely in no rush to flip the calendar over.

The Burlington right fielder had a huge month in May and has been named the Legends League Batter of the Month.

On the month, he posted a .440 batting average, with 12 home runs, 31 RBIs, 24 runs scored and a .479 on-base percentage.

Thus far this year, Pullup is batting .411 with 22 home runs, 54 RBIs and 51 runs scored.

SL Hitter - It's official. BNN writers have voted Weston DeGurlz of the Castle Strength the Stars League Batter of the Month award for May.

During the month he recorded a .523 average with 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

So far this year, DeGurlz is batting .460 with 24 home runs, 67 RBIs and 43 runs scored.

LL Pitcher - Hoodoo Loulou was on cloud nine the entire month of May, capping it off with the Legends League Pitcher of the Month honors.

The Watertown starter was spectacular in 7 starting assignments with 6 wins and no losses, 54.2 innings pitched, 49 strikeouts and a fine 2.63 ERA.

To date this year, Loulou shows a 9-3 record, 13 starts, 95.1 innings, 80 strikeouts and a 3.68 ERA.

SL Pitcher - The Stars League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for May.

It went to Waxer Lucatero of Providence for his outstanding 6-0 record and 3.42 ERA.

Lucatero also chalked up 7 starts, 55.1 innings and 48 strikeouts.

This season, Lucatero has compiled a 9-1 mark with a 3.76 ERA.

BMU Analysis

Like the MML, the BMU has a player leading in the Triple Crown race this season: 2B Trog Alderod of Mass Pike (Slog) with a .380/31/44 line. He has hit a lot of sole home runs, but still leads the Massachusetts Association in RBI. 3B Flex Mussels of Littleton (Con) is also in the Triple Crown race in the Commonwealth Association, though he is tied for the home run lead. He has hit .385/22/50. Unfortunately for his pursuits, Mussels has been called up to the MML's Arlington Caps.

League leaders are the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters, a tie between the Sanctuary Hills Zetans and Winchester Bashers, a tie between the West Roxbury Mole Rats and Neponset Park Criticals, and the Hyde Park Stingwings.

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - At only 23 years of age, Flex Mussels could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Littleton Ragers, as May was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .383 with 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

This season, Mussels has banged out 60 hits in 157 at-bats for a .382 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .444 pace and his totals also include 50 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

MA Hitter - Mass Pike Radroaches fans believe they've got a talented young star in Trog Alderod.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .418 with 25 home runs, 38 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

The end result was the second baseman being named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

In 42 games this year, Alderod has posted a .380 average and put up these numbers: 31 home runs, 44 RBIs and 48 runs scored.

MA Pitcher - May was a very good month for Chris Brahmin of the Winchester Bashers. He held opposing hitters for a .192 average and took home the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month award.

In 8 starts he claimed a 8-0 record as he put up a 3.54 ERA and struck out 59 in 56 innings.

Brahmin has fashioned a 10-0 mark for the season, 2.91 ERA and thrown 86.2 innings in 12 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .199 against him.

MA Pitcher - The Massachusetts Association named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award.
It went to Ramrod Padlock of Hyde Park Stingwings, who impressed the voters with a glittering 6-1 record in May.

The Hyde Park star hurler made 7 starts, allowed 40 hits in 40.2 innings, struck out 31 and had a 2.43 ERA.

So far this year, Padlock has a 9-2 record with a 2.37 ERA.

GBRL Analysis

The SL Southwest Division has a crazy race for 1st place right now. The Greater Mass Vans (FHE) and Roadside Pines Cosmos (FtH) are each 39-6 on the season. The Vans are on a 12-game winning streak, while the Cosmos are on an 11-game winning streak.

Looking at the Vans, they are 1st in every offensive categories but stolen bases where they are 2nd. Five players have hit double-digit home runs, led by their top three of LF Ori Gun (.294/20/41), CF Doorbell Arg (.315/19/50), and 1B Slip Knotty (.307/19/35).

The Cosmos are the same in pitching categories where they are 1st in everything but 7th in strikeouts. The top two pitchers have been there all season: SP Nick Soulless (10-1, 1.50) and Tarzan Rogers (9-1, 2.81). CL Volodya Odabashian (13 SV, 0.61) has been dominant.

For the rest of the GBRL, division leaders are the Croup Manor Inspectors, a tie between the Union Hope Lifegivers and Rocky Narrows Blitz, and the Poseidon Energy Mongrels.

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - When Buttons Bunterson stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North League Batter of the Month award.

The young Croup Manor right fielder posted a .365 batting average with 15 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 39 runs. Bunterson also worked pitchers for 21 walks to post a .500 on-base percentage.

Thus far this year, Bunterson has hit .352 with 19 home runs and 43 RBIs.

SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Jozie Newroad has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Greater Mass Vans star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .429 average with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

This season, Newroad has hit at a .354 clip with 33 RBIs, 15 home runs and 34 runs scored. He has played in 31 games.

NL Pitcher - The #1 pitcher this past month in the North League was Groot Spooner of the Kingsport Moon Monkeys. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing May with a superb 7-0 record and a 2.28 ERA.

The Moon Monkeys star made 7 starts and surrendered 36 hits in 43.1 innings. He struck out 47 and walked 33.

Spooner has made 11 starts so far this year and put up a 8-2 won-lost record with a 3.84 ERA. In 63.1 innings he has allowed 55 hits, walked 53 and struck out 61.

SL Pitcher - Last month was a very successful month for Andrew Groom of Poseidon Energy. So successful that he has been honored as the Pitcher of the Month in the South League.

Groom shut down league hitters in fine fashion, rounding out May with an impressive 6-1 mark and 2.26 ERA in 8 starts with 71 strikeouts in 59.2 innings.

His record this year is 7-4 in 12 starts and Groom has a 2.72 ERA.

CCBL Analysis

The CCBL is in its final month of the season, and all but one of the divisions is in a fierce battle. That one division without a fierce battle is the Mass Con Western Division where the Assumption University Greyhounds have a 10-game lead over the Holy Cross Crusaders and a Magic # of just 6.

Other division leaders are the Winthrop College Guardians, Mass Bay University Beacons, and a tie between the Stonehill College Skyhawks and Plymouth University Pioneers.

Current leaders in the wildcard race are the Northeastern University Huskies, Harvard University Crimson, Holy Cross, and Commonwealth University Terriers.

CCBL All-Star Game

The Team 1 All-Stars have bragging rights for the year after beating the Team 2 All-Stars by a score of 8-2 at Battalion Park.

Team 1 star Myles Deese played a key role in the win, going 1 for 2 to lead his team.

In his career, Deese has played in 203 games with a .359 batting average. Among his 296 hits are 35 doubles, 3 triples, and 47 home runs. He has also scored 162 runs, walked 63 times, tallied 7 stolen bases, and driven in 122 runs.

CCBL Players of the Month

CCBL Hitter - Sheen Doyle put together a good May to earn the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Glowing Sea College officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Glowing Ones second baseman posted a .455 batting average with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

This season, Doyle is batting .435 with 15 home runs.

CCBL Pitcher - Aqua Purified of the Assumption Greyhounds outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 7-0 won-lost mark and 1.02 ERA in 7 starts to get the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Month honors.

Purified had a very impressive May, finishing with 41 strikeouts in 53 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .222 average.

In 14 starts this year, Purified has recorded a 11-2 record and a 2.24 ERA.

CYL Analysis

The CYL regular season has come to a conclusion. The South Charles Bank Moonies and Swansea Nuka Sox earned the top records in their regions.

Other division winners were the Marblehead Mess, Beantown Sprouts, Acton Ups, Dennis Menaces, Brown Bubblers, and Spectacle Island Specters.

One play-in game had to happen due to tiebreakers. In that game, the Truro Hatchlings defeated the Bridgewater Baristas, 11-1, to earn the final playoff spot in the South Region.

CYL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - Nope Ankor has a lot going for him. The Beerthirty first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the North Region has just picked him as its top hitter for May.

In 28 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .323 with 18 home runs, 32 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

Hitting .297 to date, Ankor has 35 home runs and 59 RBIs. He has played in 67 games.

SR Hitter - Prospero Masque is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Coventry right fielder joined that select company when the South Region announced the results of May's voting.

Masque totaled 44 hits, 16 walks, 14 home runs, 29 RBIs and 24 runs scored last month to put together a .427 batting average and .504 on-base percentage.

This season in 70 games, Masque is batting .381 with 33 home runs, 67 RBIs and has scored 60 times.

NR Pitcher - Ripper Kawolski will be bringing May's North Region Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Sudbury. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Kawolski started 7 games, going 6-0 with 62 strikeouts in 55.2 innings as he compiled his 1.13 ERA.

Looking at his season stats, Kawolski has won 6 and lost 0, collecting 66 strikeouts and 11 walks in 61 innings with a 1.18 ERA.

SR Pitcher - Chad OJ of the Bubblers bewildered opposing batters in May and was honored as the South Region Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

The Brown starter sparkled last month with a 5-0 record and 1.19 ERA. He made 8 starts, tossed 60.1 innings and had 82 strikeouts.

This season, OJ has compiled a 9-2 mark with a 2.70 ERA in 19 starts.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 June 2311

Wild, Orange Take Early Leads

The Wild Gatorclaws have won eight straight, and the Orange Tourists are the only team above .500 in the South Bradberton Division as we see the early returns on the race for the 2311 Nuka Series. Victory, which trails the Gatorclaws by a game, is the only other team above .500.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1721701252

Even though he is a newcomer to Nuka World League, Wizard of Oz Smith put up some good numbers in May and earned the NWL Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Victory's offensive leaders with a .500 average in 27 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 29 runs scored.

The Wild Gatorclaws owe Bedpost Krehl a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in May, Krehl tore up the opposition with a fine 5-0 mark on his way to the Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month award.

"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Krehl, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."

It was Krehl who did the banging in May as he tossed up 27 strikeouts in 34.1 innings, holding opponents to a .252 average and posting a 2.88 ERA.

Wizard of Oz Smith earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Nuka World League for last month's performance. The boyish Victory third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Smith hit .500 with 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 29 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Only 12 games into the season, the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies and Nuka Town Operators are the division leaders in the APL.

For a rookie just breaking in, Craig Preciado certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the APL Batter of the Month award for May.

The 28-year-old left fielder for the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies hit .333 with 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

May's #1 hurler was Car Aballo of Nuka Town. He gunned down Amusement Park League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Operators star piled up 3 wins and no losses to take the honor.

The 26-year-old Aballo added 11 strikeouts in 25 innings and 12 walks to his season record and compiled a 0.72 ERA. Other clubs hit .159 against him.

The NWLRL is also 12 games in with the Nuka Jolly Elves and Nuka Plant Electrics leading.

Efrain Rogers, the Red Rocket Radrats third baseman, certainly made his name known to NWL Rookie League hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with May's NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award.

He slashed and bashed his way to a .513 batting average while tallying up 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He also worked NWLRL pitchers for 15 walks and a .655 on-base percentage.

The NWL Rookie League made it official today -- Skulvar Sablehilt of the Nuka Jolly Elves is the Pitcher of the Month. In May he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters.

Sablehilt made 2 starts, registered 2 wins and no losses with a solid 3.18 ERA. In 11.1 innings he allowed 10 hits, racked up 12 strikeouts, walked 6 and permitted teams to hit .233 against him.

In the BBL, the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors have a four-game lead and a Magic # of 9 in the West Division. In the East Division, the Sherwood Manor Sasquatch and Chicopee Galaxy are tied at 19-11.

Angry Anaconda Godmodes fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May.

Johhny Hair put up a remarkable month at the age of 14 and has been named the Bradberton Boys League Batter of the Month.

For the month, Hair hit .403 with 16 home runs, 28 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

This month the Bradberton Boys League spotlight fell on pitcher Nay Fukuoka of the Sherwood Manor Sasquatch.

What a May he had!

A fine 4-0 won-lost record, 0.90 ERA, 8 starts, 40 innings pitched and 51 strikeouts -- good enough to get him the BBL Pitcher of the Month.

Vim! View

Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues

by Vikky Vail

1 June 2311

Close Races in Fog and Harbor Divisions

It is still early in the 2311 season, but the division races are tight to start. In the Fog Division, the Echo Lake Harbormen and Eden Meadows Anglers are tied at 16-11. In the Harbor Division, the Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs have a two-game lead over Far Harbor after an 8-2 run in their last 10.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1721701252

Not known for his offensive prowess, Angus McGuyver set the league afire in May and took home the Vim! League Batter of the Month award.

The Acadia first baseman posted a steady .442 batting average, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs.

The Vim! League scribes have picked May's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Phil Cecil of Dalton Farm. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-2 mark.

The Fog Crawlers star hurler made 7 starts with a 1.77 ERA and surrendered 50 hits in 56 innings. He struck out 47 and walked 10.

Bad Breath Seth is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Vim! League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the National Park hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .362 average with 34 hits, 8 home runs and 19 RBIs.

In the Mount Desert Island League, each division features a team with a one-game lead. In the Small Bertha Division, the Cliff's Edge Actors have a single-game lead over the Southwest Harbor Rippers. In the Old Longfellow Division, the Oceanarium Oceanics have a one-game lead over the Eagle's Cove Harpooners.

Oppo Rancisis put together a good May to earn the Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Brooke's Head officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Behemoths right fielder posted a .488 batting average with 7 home runs, 16 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the Mount Desert Island League winner is Cliff's Edge hurler, Downgoze Frazier. For his fine efforts in May he has been named the league's #1 pitcher.

During the month, Frazier excelled with a 2.28 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 23.2 innings he struck out 10 and gave up 18 hits and 9 walks.

In the VRL, the Glowing Grove Braniacs and MS Azalea Shipwrecks are the early leaders.

The vote is in and Medical Bill Cartwright, the 18-year-old catcher for Longfellow, is the winner. Today he was honored with the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month award.

In May, Cartwright wowed voters with a .510 average while posting 6 home runs, 16 RBIs, 12 runs scored and a .564 on-base percentage.

Grimvar Cruelsea really put his best foot forward in May with 3 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the VIM! Rookie League. When he got the start for the MS Azalea Shipwrecks, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 23.1 innings of work, Cruelsea limited opposing batters to 19 base hits and a .229 batting average. He notched 27 strikeouts, issued 11 walks and had a 2.31 ERA.

In the MYL, the Far Harbor Dockdwellers have a half-game lead over the National Park Rangers in the MDIF. In the GDIL, the Sunset Park Anglers have a 3.5 game lead over the Echo Point Glowers.

Jay McLeod may be much younger than other hitters in the Mount Desert Island Four, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 14-year-old Cliff's Edge right fielder hit .444 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

May's Batter of the Month has been announced by the Great Diamond Island League. This month's trophy was presented to the Pleasant Cove shortstop, Donk Oh.

He starred by hitting .264 with a .368 on-base percentage, totaled 24 hits in 91 at-bats, 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and scored 16 runs.

The May Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Mount Desert Island Four award went to Beaver Creek hurler, Sisto Bianchetti.

During the month, Bianchetti was impressive with a 3.20 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 39.1 innings he struck out 51 and gave up 29 hits and 25 walks.

Diamond Cove starter Lapdog Sideburn claimed the Great Diamond Island League Pitcher of the Month Award today with his strong performance in May.

The 14-year-old starter tossed 38 innings of solid baseball, putting up a 1.42 ERA, 33 strikeouts and a 5-0 record in 6 starts.

Glad to see the Grognaks making at least a showing, if still below .500.

Though unrelated, out of the corner of my eye, I suddenly realized the Stonehill College logo reminds me a lot of the Yuri faction from Yuri's revenge in Red Alert 2, another classic series.

In this case, Stonehill College's logo is their actual logo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonehill_Skyhawks

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

5 June 2311

CBO Analysis

We are now more than 50 games (51, to be exact) for each team in the 2311 season, meaning there are fewer than 80 to go per team. Three of the four leagues have a leader with a three games or fewer margin, while one team have slightly pulled away in their league. We are seeing an uptick in trades, with the expansion teams still the most active in trying to make their teams competitive. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Roxbury Rad Sox (131.0, ++)
2) Starlight Killers (127.5, -)
3) Egret Ninjas (119.9, +)
4) FHE Yao Guai (113.9, -)
5) Nahant Celtics (112.9, +)
6) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (109.9, --)
7) The Slog Ghouls (107.8, +)
8) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (105.8, +)
9) Salem Witch Hats (104.8, +)
10) Oberland T-51s (101.3, -)
11) University Point Deathclaws (99.8, --)
12) Vault 81 Dwellers (92.8, +)
13) Spectacle Island Reapers (91.2, ++)
14) Malden Grognaks (89.7, ++)
15) Bunker Hill 75ers (87.2, ++)
16) Easy Town Assaultrons (85.7, ++)
17) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (81.2, --)
18) Quincy Gunners (81.2, --)
19) Atom Cats (80.2, --)
20) Lexington Synths (79.7, ++)
21) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (77.2, --)
22) Cambridge Coursers (74.6, -)
23) Goodneighbor Hancocks (69.6, --)
24) Concord Radstags (63.6, +)
25) County Crossing Bloodbugs (63.6, --)
26) Diamond City Swatters (59.1, o)
27) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (56.9, +)
28) Southie Brews (54.5, -)

Brotherhood League

After struggling a bit in their last 10 games with a 4-6 mark, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are now just two games up on Nahant and no longer possess the NCA nor CBO's top record. The Celtics have won five straight to put themselves up on the rest of the league, while Salem and The Slog are both four games back of the Boys. Both the Witch Hats and Ghouls have been hot as of late.

Nahant's five-game winning streak has given us a chance to take a peek at them. The Celtics are currently 6th in runs scored (272) and 2nd in runs allowed (226). Two players that have helped to keep the runs down are ace SP Zack Million (5-4, 2.53) and SP Lonely Gale (3-1, 2.55). Million is 3rd in the NCA in ERA behind the Boys' Beachboy Nut (2.39) and Starlight's Digger Vadim (2.45). Gale is not yet eligible but would be 4th. On offense, no player has more than 8 home runs, but the Celtics have had the 4th-best average (.283) in the NCA. LF Grandson Quarles (.324/5/35) leads the team in average.

Institute League

The Killers have pulled away somewhat in this league. The suddenly-hot Starlight Chemists are in second, seven games back, after going 7-3 in their last 10 including three straight. Fort Hagen, Bunker Hill, and Lexington have all gone cold, putting them at .500 or lower.

The Synths were happy to win games early in the season, but now they are struggling to do so, including going 3-7 in their last 10. They are now 7th in runs scored (268) and 13th in runs allowed (300). While pitching can be a detriment, ace SP Ahsoka Tano (4-2, 2.74) has been a gem. The team still needs solid pitchers to surround him, with the next-best team ERA pitcher being RP Hunter Kim (1-1, 4.15). All other Synths starters have an ERA of 5.00 or higher. On offense, Lexington has four good players in the outfield--RF Redface Brickstone (.331/7/32) leading the team Triple Crown, LF Gee Force (.288/6/26), RF Danny Faraday (.277/5/22), and CF Millioncap Go (.320/0/4)--so they may want to offer one to pick up another starting pitcher.

Minutemen League

University Point is still holding on to an unimpressive league. Every other team is under .500 after Quincy went 3-7 and Atom went 2-8 in their last 10. Spectacle Island at 6-4 was the only ML team to have a winning record in the last 10.

The Reapers are probably the second-best team in the ML as far as talent is concerned, so we expect them to be in the playoff hunt. Spectacle Island is currently 10th in runs scored (241) and 3rd in runs scored (233). The offense has plenty of talent, but only three--LF Zod Gaycey (.344/16/43), 1B Homestay Lovetap (.274/16/39), and RF Dan Squirrel (.343/8/29)--have performed. 2B Bubb Islander (.186/1/3/21 steals) may need to drop from leadoff to the 8th spot for better offensive output. If he could hit, he might set the steals record of 67 set by Deerlord Fugivmee in 2301.

Railroad League

This league now has the CBO's 2nd-best record, and two other teams tied for the CBO's 3rd-best record in Roxbury, Egret, and FHE. The Yao Guai have fallen off a bit as we have expected, but they are still playing at a level way higher than we could ever expect and should far surpass preseason expectations. Oberland and Vault 81 are both hanging around just over .500, so there is a lot of drama to come in the RL.

The Ninjas are a team we tend to look past. At two games back of the Rad Sox, they are in it to win it as they try to make their fourth-straight playoff appearance. Egret is 7th in runs scored (272) and 1st in runs allowed (210) with the best Starters ERA (3.44) and 6th-best Bullpen ERA (4.98). The top two starters, Max Grove (7-0, 2.45) and Hry Caje (6-4, 2.19), have been sensational. Caje has the SCA's second-best ERA behind only the Reapers' Chris Teddybear (2.04), and Grove is 5th. Offensively, 1B Ajani Peacock (.322/9/39/17 SB) has made the most waves, though the team is decent almost everywhere but catcher on offense. Cleanup hitter, RF Rick Pickle (.235/1/18), has also had a season-long slump.

CBO Standings

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1722211848

CBO Players of the Week

May 29 - One of the league's most exciting young players, Castor Puzzlemaker of the Salem Witch Hats earned himself North Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 21-year-old left fielder had a lofty .562 average (9-for-16), collecting 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

So far this year, Puzzlemaker is batting .286 with 8 home runs and 18 RBIs.

Barker Cocoa is respected by most University Point Deathclaws fans for his no-frills style of play. The 32-year-old first baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .556 average (10-for-18) with 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

So far this year, Cocoa has hit .411 with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

June 5 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Family Sam Partridge, the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 22-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 12 hits in 30 at-bats, compiling a .400 average with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs.

Currently Partridge has 20 home runs and a .306 batting average.

Spectacle Island fans have something to crow about today as Spectacle Island first baseman Homestay Lovetap nabbed the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.

"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Lovetap.

He posted a .500 average (10-for-20) this past week with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs, and 7 runs scored.

For the year, Lovetap is batting .274 with 16 home runs, 39 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

CYL Playoff Update

The new double-elimination style tournament for the Commonwealth Youth League has begun, and we do not even know how to begin covering it! Thirty-two teams entered with the final two teams set to play a three-game series in the Commonwealth Youth Series. Right now, no teams have been eliminated, but every team has played one game.

Of the division winners, #3 Beantown was upset, 5-3, by #14 Castle in its first game of the North Region teams. In the South Region, #2 Dennis lost to #15 Wellfleet, 6-1, and #4 Spectacle Island lost to #13 Sandwich, 10-5, in 17 innings.

Fontenot Makes History, Throws Hancocks' Second No-Hitter

There have been few years where there were more than one no-hitters in a season. There were three in 2299, two in 2305, and two more in 2306. Never had teammates thrown a no-hitter in the same season. Now that has happened with Goodneighbor pitching the only no-hitters on the season.

Heaven Fontenot relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Southie hitless in a win, 5-0, at Third Rail Stadium.

"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Brews off balance and guessing the whole game."

The 22-year-old starter rung up 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Brews.

"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Southie skipper Ray Pratt said.

This year, Fontenot has compiled a 9-3 mark with a 2.05 ERA.

BMU All-Star Game

The best of the best took to the field at Reading Railroad Park tonight, giving BMU fans a show in the annual all-star game.

The Massachusetts Association earned bragging rights with a 4-2 win over the Commonwealth Association.

Trog Alderod was named the MVP for his efforts, as he batted 1-for-3 in the contest.

"I'm just glad we won, that's the main thing," he said. "The personal accomplishment isn't something I strive for in an all-star game."

It's time once again for the Boston Minor Union All-Star game!

GBRL All-Star Game

There's a whole lot of pride on the line when the best baseball players throughout Greater Boston Rookie League gather for the all-star game.

It was no different this year, as the North League bested the South League by a score of 16-8, in a spirited contest played at Mad Dogs Grove.

"It might be a little lower intensity than the regular season or playoffs, but everyone in that clubhouse still wants to win this game," said True Tee Warrior of the North League, who was named the game MVP.

Nothing is for certain about the 2311 Greater Boston Rookie League All-Star Game. It might be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills -- all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game.

This year, the North League will be represented by these All-Star performers:

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

19 June 2311

CBO Analysis

A little more than 10 more games were played since our last update, and we have four powers all leading their leagues, though two leagues are quite close. Starlight continues to hold the largest league lead at six games, but University Point went 8-2 in their last 10 to open a five-game lead in the Minutemen League. We also have a new #1 in the Power Rankings due to a red-hot 9-1 streak. Amazingly, that team is in 4th place in its league. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Vault 81 Dwellers (117.7, ++)
2) Roxbury Rad Sox (117.2, ++)
3) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (114.4, -)
4) University Point Deathclaws (112.7, +)
5) FHE Yao Guai (112.4, --)
6) Salem Witch Hats (111.7, ++)
7) Starlight Killers (111.3, o)
8) Egret Ninjas (110.6, --)
9) Nahant Celtics (110.6, --)
10) Oberland T-51s (106.1, ++)
11) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (97.3, +)
12) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (96.1, --)
13) The Slog Ghouls (93.3, o)
14) Atom Cats (92.4, +)
15) Lexington Synths (86.1, --)
16) Quincy Gunners (84.7, ++)
17) Spectacle Island Reapers (84.7, +)
18) Bunker Hill 75ers (82.7, o)
19) Malden Grognaks (77.9, +)
20) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (77.0, +)
21) Diamond City Swatters (74.4, ++)
22) Goodneighbor Hancocks (74.1, --)
23) Cambridge Coursers (69.1, --)
24) Concord Radstags (68.4, o)
25) Southie Brews (67.9, +)
26) County Crossing Bloodbugs (67.4, -)
27) Easy Town Assaultrons (64.3, --)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (37.6, o)

Brotherhood League

While Nordhagen Beach did not have a bad stretch, going 6-4 in their last 10, both Nahant (a game back) and Salem (two games back) went 7-3, making this a close league. The Slog is tied for 6th in the NCA with a 33-30 mark, so they need to win at a higher clip the rest of the way to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.

The Witch Hats are a good team but do not dominte in any one category. They are 5th in runs scored (334) and 4th in runs against (294). Their ace, Pokey Chatman (10-3, 2.90), has had a great season. On offense, the top four hitters are all tied for the team lead in home runs at 11: 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (.319/11/26), 1B Dan Erb (.273/11/29), RF Brian DeLong (.272/11/32), and LF Castor Puzzlemaker (.307/11/29).

Institute League

As mentioned in the preview, the Killers still own this league despite a miserable 3-7 stretch in their last 10. That cold run gives them just a one-game advantage over the Party Boys and Roxbury for the CBO's top record. Sunshine Tidings and Fort Hagen are the only two other squads above .500.

The Silver Shroud are tied for the 6th spot with the Ghouls and need to find a way to get its talented team in gear to match PAM's expectations. The Shroud have struggled on offense, ranking 9th in runs scored (314) while 6th in runs allowed (303). Their offensive struggles are strange since they are 3rd in average (.285) and home runs (99). One key could be stolen bases (13) and base running (-16.4) where they rank 14th in each. Still, their entire lineup can be considered dangerous with their top average leader, LF KiJana Mallee (.324/10/39) and their bottom hitter, CF Gnaw Lynns (.265/6/17), not having a huge difference. The same can be said in home runs, where Lynns has the least in the starting lineup and RF Foo Fieterz (.274/12/28) has the most.

Minutemen League

After going 8-2, the Deathclaws have pulled away a bit in the ML, giving them a five-game lead over Atom. Quincy, Spectacle Island, and Jamaica Plain all struggled again the past two weeks, dropping all three below .500.

The Claws are doing what they always do: outscore their opponents. University Point is 2nd in runs scored (374) and 5th in runs allowed (291). LF Chris Hirshfield (.336/21/62) may be more of a Nuka Hitter Award candidate this season than 1B Barker Cocoa (.377/11/46), though we will wait on that designation since Cocoa is tied with Nordhagen Beach SS Pipe Wallcrawler for the CBO's WAR lead (3.7). While the loss of CF Aesed Hayjen has been huge, RF Tomas Jones (.345/10/58) has returned to his old self this season. Leadoff hitter, 2B Chris Recore (.313/7/26), leads the team with 21 steals.

Railroad League

Five teams in the RL are above .500, with Oberland manning the rear at 34-29. This has to be the toughest league we have ever seen at this part of the season. Roxbury is only separated by 2.5 games from 4th-place Vault 81, whose 9-1 mark in the past 10 has driven them to #1 in the Power Rankings. FHE is just 0.5 games back, again proving to us that they are here to stay. We wonder what would have happened if they held on to SP Paul Stains (8-5, 3.55) now of the struggling Swatters.

The Dwellers have been even better than University Point in scoring runs, leading the SCA with 401 runs scored. Pitching seems to be the key to keeping them down, ranking 9th in runs allowed (321). Part of that is the huge struggles this season of the top two starters, Scruffy Taguchi (4-2, 6.21) and Exxie Summerset (5-5, 5.79). With the injury of CF Stu Gains (.343/15/62), the team Triple Crown leader right now, for the next month, the Dwellers may hurt on offense. Rookie CF Wee Wee Reese (.294/0/4) is not ready to assume that role, so Vault 81 may want to seek a backup in the trade department.

June 19 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Jaxon Grits, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud 23-year-old third baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 10 hits in 26 at-bats, compiling a .385 average with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.

Grits on the season is hitting .271 with 9 home runs. His stats include 19 RBIs and 39 runs scored.

One of the league's most exciting young players, Mike Truk of the Southie Brews earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 24-year-old first baseman had a lofty .519 average (14-for-27), collecting 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This year, Truk is hitting .299 with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .302 clip and scored 32 runs.

MML All-Star Game

The Legends League All-Stars reigned supreme tonight at Wicked Shipping Field, with a 10-4 triumph over the Stars League All-Stars.

Legends League right fielder Pad Mee led the way for the winning club, putting up a 4-for-5 mark to earn game MVP honors.

In 388 career games Mee is hitting at a .301 pace with 490 hits with 86 doubles, 12 triples and 57 homers while scoring 235 runs and racking up 215 RBIs. He logged 98 walks and owns a .348 on-base percentage.

CYL Playoffs

Brown Crowned Champions

The Bubblers proved to be unbeatable in the 2311 Commonwealth Youth Series as they shocked the Harwich Fishheads by sweeping the series.

Brown finished them off 4-2 in the finale at Fishheads Ballpark. This is the 1st title for the club.

The new champs finished the regular season 43-26 and claimed first place in the South Region Samuel Adams Division.

LF Bubbler Mayhem, SR, was named the Commonwealth Youth Series MVP. He went 2 for 7 in the series with two home runs, a walk, three runs, and five RBI.

The heroes in the two-game sweep for each game were the Brown pitchers. In Game 1, sophomore SP Beefcake McStevens earned the victory after allowing just one earned run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings. CL Pin Tell pitched two scoreless innings for the save. In Game 2, freshman SP Chad OJ pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. Tell again pitched the last two innings, allowing a run and earning the save.

The Bubblers had to come out of the Losers' Bracket of the playoffs after losing their third game of the playoffs to the Fishheads. Brown then went on to win seven straight for the title with victories over Spectacle Island, Nauset Beach, West Quincy (17-0!), Marblehead, South Charles Bank, and then the Fishheads two straight times.

The July Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - When Kilometers Davis stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

The young The Slog first baseman posted a .373 batting average with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 16 runs. Davis also worked pitchers for 9 walks to post a .423 on-base percentage.

In 71 games this season, Davis has compiled a .304 batting average with 82 hits and 18 home runs. He has also scored 46 times and knocked in 54 runs.

SCA Hitter - Stormin Normin MacDonald battered South Charles Association pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old MacDonald told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, MacDonald hit .370 with 8 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 26 runs.

So far this year, MacDonald has 13 home runs and a .309 batting average.

NCA Pitcher - The North Charles Association scribes have selected June's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Cohort Williams of Nahant. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 5-1 record.

The Celtics star performer made 7 starts with a 1.90 ERA and surrendered 38 hits in 42.2 innings. He struck out 31 and walked 9.

This season, Williams has a 10-5 mark in 19 starts with a 3.80 ERA. He has given up 102 hits in 104.1 innings, struck out 72 and issued 38 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .260 batting average against him.

SCA Pitcher - Heaven Fontenot certainly found a groove in June. The Goodneighbor starter posted 6 wins last month to easily claim the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Fontenot was 6-1 with a 0.63 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 57 innings and had 35 strikeouts.

This season, Fontenot has worked 149.1 innings with 111 strikeouts en route to a 13-4 record and a 1.75 ERA.

NCA Rookie - In June Elastic Man Haley pitched his way to the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month Award.

He started 7 games, put up a 5-0 record, 3.19 ERA and 34 strikeouts. The Fort Hagen starter also tossed 48 innings and held batters to a .232 batting average.

This season, Haley has compiled a 8-3 record with a 4.22 ERA.

SCA Rookie - Naga Arakaki's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Glowing Sea right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .312 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and 7 home runs. Arakaki also scored 17 times and drove in 18 runs.

At the moment, Arakaki is batting .323 with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs. He has played in 73 games and scored 45 times.

The Top Prospects list was updated on June 22 with the top five being SS Gav Ingidree, Godneighbor; 3B Tommy Whitetiger, Lexington; 2B Will Hell, FHE; CF Candy Kline, Atom; and C Jozie Norwood, FHE.

CBO Draft Pool

With the CYL season now complete, we have some updates on some of the draft pool. We will start looking at the top prospects for the 2311 Draft and update that list and feature more players as we approach the November draft date.

If the draft were to start today, this would be the top five drafting teams:

1. Glowing Sea
2. Southie
3. Concord
4. Easy Town
5. Cambridge

Five top prospects to watch:

1. CF Eden Babz, SR, Weymouth Locksmiths - One of the Babz twins, Eden is the speedier of the two brothers. Babz can cover just about everything in the outfield and can swipe a base when necessary. While he may never progress into a true power hitter, Babz makes excellent contact and just needs to work on his patience at the plate. He appears to hate to walk when at bat, something that he has to learn will benefit his team.

2. LF Campy Madrid, SR, Pawtucket Paw Sox - Madrid saw his production drop a bit in his senior year, but scouts think he could be the best pure contact hitter in the 2311 Draft. Scouts like his ability to find open spots in the field when at bat, using shifting defenses to his advantage.

3. 3B Mike Fountaineau, SR, Wareham Comets - Where Madrid is a contact hitter, Fountaineau checks the boxes as a power hitter. He hit at least 20 home runs all four seasons with the Comets, the last three being a part of the CYL where he now ranks 52nd all-time. He would be 11th if his freshman season counted.

4. RF Cupper Galvan, SR, Wareham Comets - Fountaineau's teammate, Galvan did not hit as many home runs, but he can also bomb the ball, hitting 30 in his sophomore season. Galvan has good contact skills, too, helping him to find the sweet spot on many swings. He is fun to watch in batting practice.

5. 1B Hammer Longball, SR, Brockton Claws - Longball chose his name because he was born as a powerful kid. He has a consistent swing that is always looking for the home run. At the next level, he will need to cut down on his strikeouts to avoid being a .200 hitter.

MML Analysis

We are now in the final 32 days of the regular season. Division leaders are the Watertown Armorers, Finch Farm Shamrocks, Worcester Cannons, and Castle Strength. The Cannons are in the only true division race right now, leading the Needham Archers by just a game with the Archers currently on a six-game winning streak.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Yip Yick Ping made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Legends League this past month.

The Medford Medics first baseman shined through the month of June and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 22-year-old hit .462 with 13 home runs, 25 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

In this current campaign Ping is hitting at a .372 clip with 31 home runs and 73 RBIs.

SL Hitter - Worcester left fielder Gunner Eyesocket was certainly bad news for pitchers in the month of June. He wore them out, going 39 for 93, and was rewarded with the Stars League Batter of the Month award.

He hit .419 with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 30 runs.

So far this season, Eyesocket has hit .378 with 27 home runs, 75 RBIs and scored 76 times.

LL Pitcher - David Coocoo of the Danvers Sonics outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 5-0 won-lost mark and 3.54 ERA in 6 starts to get the Legends League Pitcher of the Month honors.

Coocoo had a very impressive June, finishing with 46 strikeouts in 48.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .230 average.

Up to now Coocoo has compiled an ERA of 6.48 with a 7-5 mark over 18 starts. He has 98 strikeouts in 116.2 innings and has held opponents to a .291 batting average.

SL Pitcher - Billy Faulkner dazzled opponents on his way to the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award for June.

Posting a 4-0 record and a 1.88 ERA, the Braintree Robobrains starter held opposing hitters to a .234 batting average while striking out 34 in 38.1 innings and giving up 16 walks.

This season, Faulkner has fashioned a 8-7 mark and 4.57 ERA in 122 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .272 against him and he has logged 104 strikeouts.

BMU Analysis

There are just three weeks remaining in the 2311 regular season. Leagues are mostly tight with the Winchester Bashers holding the largest lead of five games. In the Dark Hollow Pond League, the Covenant Refractors and Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunter are tied. In the Massachusetts Association, the Hull Lead Bellies and Hyde Park Stingwings each lead their league in tight races. The Stingwings lead the Mayor Shelter Tricentennials by just a game.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1722380046

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Pockets Wrench has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Covenant Refractors star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .396 average with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

So far this year in 34 games, Wrench is hitting .380 with 14 home runs, 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

MA Hitter - Forest Grove Pugilists fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June.

Jouane Manette put up a remarkable month at the age of 22 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

For the month, Manette hit .395 with 8 home runs, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

This year, Manette is hitting at a .302 pace with 16 home runs and 51 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 38 times.

CA Pitcher - When the Bashers skipper wrote Maiden on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in June he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 6-1 mark and 1.96 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Bashers star pitched 55 innings, fanned 30 and held opposing teams to a .226 average.

For his excellent mound work Maiden was named the CA Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

This season in 17 starts, Iron Maiden has a record of 11-4 with 73 strikeouts in 126.2 innings and a 2.98 ERA.

MA Pitcher - June's #1 hurler was Mean David Green of Hull. He gunned down Massachusetts Association hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Lead Bellies star piled up 5 wins and no losses to take the honor.

The 21-year-old Green added 25 strikeouts in 51 innings and 5 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.41 ERA. Other clubs hit .267 against him.

In 18 starts this season, Green has recorded a 9-3 record and a 2.41 ERA.

GBRL Analysis

There is some craziness happening in the GBRL with three teams currently in a 12-game or more winning streak. The Greater Mass Vans are on an 18-game winning streak and own the league's best record at 61-9. Their Southwest Division mates, the Roadside Pines Cosmos are on a 12-game winning streak to trail by one game.

In the Northwest Division, the Union Hope Lifegivers are on a 17-game winning streak to take a nine-game lead. In the Northeast, the Croup Manor Inspectors lead the Greentop Nursery Night People by just a game, while the Southeast Division is tied between the Big John Salvagers and Poseidon Energy Mongrels.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1722380046

GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Josh Tall set the league afire in June and took home the North League Batter of the Month award.

The Kingsport third baseman posted a steady .319 batting average, 17 home runs, 41 RBIs and 25 runs.

Tall is currently batting .303 with 30 home runs, 52 runs scored and 76 RBIs. His OBP is .389.

SL Hitter - Greater Mass Vans fans believe they've got a talented young star in Jozie Newroad.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .395 with 14 home runs, 41 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

The end result was the catcher being named the South League Batter of the Month.

Thus far this year, Newroad has hit .372 with 29 home runs and 74 RBIs.

NL Pitcher - Dew Ober will be bringing June's North League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Union Hope. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Ober started 7 games, going 6-0 with 73 strikeouts in 53 innings as he compiled his 1.53 ERA.

This season, Ober has 9 wins and 6 losses and a 3.91 ERA.

SL Pitcher - The South League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for June.

It went to Culhwch Olwen of Greater Mass for his outstanding 6-0 record and 1.51 ERA.

Olwen also chalked up 6 starts, 47.2 innings and 66 strikeouts.

So far this year, Olwen has compiled a 13-2 record with a 2.17 ERA.

CCBL Analysis

The Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League concludes later today, so we will feature the analysis on Monday, June 3, to go with the CBO analysis.

CCBL Players of the Month

Hitter - Jack of Diamonds Cordero may be much younger than other hitters in the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 19-year-old Holy Cross second baseman hit .474 with 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

Thus far this year, Cordero is hitting .441 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs and 77 runs scored.

Pitcher - June was a magical month for Frank Heart of Mass Bay University. He held the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 6-1 mark and a 2.42 ERA.

Heart also chalked up 7 starts, 48.1 innings and 37 strikeouts.

For this outstanding performance he was rewarded with the Pitcher of the Month trophy.

This season, Heart has a 14-2 record with a 3.12 ERA.

Switching to the month's top players, at only 19 years of age, Wizard of Oz Smith could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Victory Cave Crickets, as June was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the Nuka World League Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .467 with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

For the season, Smith is batting .486 with 101 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 50 times and batted in 54.

Franklin William Kidd had an outstanding June -- so good that the Nuka World League presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today.

"There's no way to know where the Bloodworms would be without Kidd," one fan is quoted as saying.

In June Kidd dominated the competition, running up a 4-0 record, a 3.15 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.

This year, Kidd has a 4-3 record with a 4.06 ERA.

Wizard of Oz Smith earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Nuka World League for last month's performance. The boyish Victory third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Smith hit .467 with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and 21 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Thus far this season, Smith has hit .486 with 14 home runs, 54 RBIs and scored 50 times.

In the APL, the current leaders are the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies and the Nuka Town Operators.

Hunter Wilde put together a good June to earn the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Dry Rock Gulch officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Convicts first baseman posted a .364 batting average with 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

The Nuka Town Operators bullpen was superb in June -- and Steve Slocums was a big reason for that success. He was named the Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month today.

He picked up 6 saves in 7 save opportunities and had 5 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. Slocums racked up 2 wins and no losses.

The NWLRL is led by the Nuka Jolly Elves and the Nuka Plant Electrics.

Coal Weedeater has a lot going for him. The Northpoint Reservoir first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the NWL Rookie League has just picked him as its top hitter for June.

In 17 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .387 with 13 home runs, 29 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

The Pitcher of the Month in the NWL Rookie League for June was Nuka Plant's star reliever Leprechaun MacMillan.

"I was wondering if relievers were even eligible for this thing," MacMillan joked with reporters. "I guess the voters do know there's actual pitchers down there in the pen."

The Electrics bullpen ace collected no saves and 7 strikeouts in 10.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .176 average and posting a 0.87 ERA and a 4-0 record.

Finally, the Bradberton Boys League season has completed.

It was all about winning for the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors -- and win they did.

There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball.

"We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said first baseman Yrsa Minor, who was named series MVP. "Now we're the league champions."

Fizztop Mountain defeated the Chicopee Galaxy by a score of 5-2 at The Operating Table to take the series 2-0.

"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Fizztop Mountain manager Howie Doing. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played."

Award winners will be announced later.

Fog Division Tight, Cranberry Island in Control of Harbor Division

The Fog Division is currently tied between the Eden Meadows Anglers and Echo Lake Harbormen as we return from the All-Star Break. In the Harbor Division, the Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs hold a 5.5 game lead over 2nd-place Far Harbor.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1722426186

The Harbor Division All-Stars reigned supreme on June 27 at the DiMA Dome, with a 13-4 triumph over the Fog Division All-Stars.

Harbor Division shortstop Ricky Day-Z led the way for the winning club, putting up a 2-for-2 mark to earn game MVP honors.

"We had some fun out there," he said. "We've got a great league and a great team and I'm not surprised we won."

What's the best league? The Fog Division or the Harbor Division? The answer will be found in the Vim! League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond.

Scheduled to play for the Fog Division All-Stars are:

SP Phil Cecil (DALF) - 7-5, 2.84 ERA, 88.2 IP, 1.29 WHIP, 6.6 K/9, 3.4 WAR

Chris Knickerbocker is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Echo Lake right fielder joined that select company when the Vim! League announced the results of June's voting.

Knickerbocker totaled 43 hits, 2 walks, 11 home runs, 38 RBIs and 20 runs scored last month to put together a .413 batting average and .413 on-base percentage.

This year, Knickerbocker has hit at a .403 pace and produced 64 RBIs, 18 home runs and scored 42 runs.

No doubt about it!
Far Harbor starter Keith Lighthouse earned his Vim! League Pitcher of the Month award.
He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in June.
During the month Lighthouse chalked up a 4-0 record with a 1.76 ERA.

The Ghoul Whales star made 6 starts and surrendered 44 hits in 46 innings. He struck out 30 and walked 11.

On the year, Lighthouse has compiled a 7-4 mark with a 3.55 ERA.

Ricky Day-Z is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Vim! League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Cranberry Island hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .326 average with 28 hits, 6 home runs and 23 RBIs.

This season, Day-Z is hitting .285 with 8 home runs.

In the MDIL, the Cliff's Edge Actors lead the Southwest Harbor Rippers by a game in the Small Bertha Division. In the Old Longfellow Division, both the Oceanarium Oceanics and Eagle's Cove Harpooners are tied with a 16-12 mark.

Even though he is a newcomer to Mount Desert Island League, Vince Eller put up some good numbers in June and earned the MDIL Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Oceanarium's offensive leaders with a .387 average in 16 games. He also racked up 12 home runs, 26 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.

Adoptee Packwood of the Actors bewildered opposing batters in June and was honored as the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

The Cliff's Edge starter sparkled last month with a 4-0 record and 0.88 ERA. He made 4 starts, tossed 30.2 innings and had 14 strikeouts.

The Western Atlantic Division is tied between the Glowing Grove Brainiacs and Kitteredge Rad Rabbits in the VRL. In the Eastern, the Longfellow Pips lead the Fringe Cove Champions by four games.

For a rookie just breaking in, Big Bob McGonagil certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the VRL Batter of the Month award for June.

The 22-year-old right fielder for the Glowing Grove Brainiacs hit .328 with 12 home runs, 31 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Cheese Wagstaff of MS Azalea had an excellent June with a 2-1 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the VIM! Rookie League.

He finished the month with a 1.44 ERA while piling up 29 strikeouts in 25 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .226 batting average.

Finally, the Maine Youth Leagues season has come to an end. And that was all she wrote on the 2311 Maine Youth Series. With a 9-3 victory, the Sunset Park Anglers swept aside the National Park Rangers 2-0 and set off a much-anticipated celebration.

"It was a lot of hard work," said winning manager Matt Grigsby. "But it was good hard work and a lot of fun along the way."

The Anglers were all business this year, with their eyes fixed squarely on the goal of winning the team's 1st championship. The champs finished the regular season 24-15 and claimed first place in the Great Diamond Island League.

"We had our doubters along the way," series MVP Gil Hat said with a smile. "But we made them eat crow today."

My CCBL standings are out of whack, so I posted it to the Technical Support forum. All other standings look good. I also edited the playoffs to properly put Glowing Sea College in over Holy Cross.

CBO Analysis

With 76 games played by most teams, we are now entering the second-half stretch of the season. 26) Easy Town Assaultrons (60.7, o)
27) Southie Brews (49.2, o)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (35.0, o)

If the playoffs started today, this would be the seeds:

NCA
1. Starlight
2. Nahant
3. Nordhagen Beach
4. Sunshine Tidings
5. Fort Hagen (2-0 vs Salem)
6. Salem

SCA
1. Roxbury
2. University Point
3. Egret (2-1 vs FHE)
4. FHE
5. Vault 81
6. Oberland

Brotherhood League

Nahant has gone 8-2 in their past 10, including a current seven-game winning streak, to take the lead over flailing Nordhagen Beach. Salem has been the coldest team, dropping 9 of 10, including six straight, to now trail by eight games. County Crossing is another hot team in the league, using an 8-2 mark to move out of last place into 5th.

For the Party Boys, they are in a bit of a mid-season struggle, including an injury to 2B Jumper Hayes (.291/6/23) that will not see him back until August. The Boys are 4th in runs scored (414) and 3rd in runs allowed (347), showing that statistically they are right where they should be at this point in the season. SP Beachboy Nut (10-1, 1.90) has been dominant and is likely to win his ninth Vim! Pitcher Award if he maintains this pace. 3B Jacob Tarberry (.334/16/54) has been the best all-around hitter on the team, with lots of help from SS Pipe Wallcrawler (.347/12/37).

Institute League

For the most part, this league stayed steady with the top five teams all going 7-3 or 6-4 in their last 10. Starlight has been consistent and maintains the CBO's best record. Sunshine Tidings has a bit of a distance over the trio of Fort Hagen, Bunker Hill, and Lexington. Cambridge and Concord are playing for draft position.

For the 75ers, they are cursed with a good team talent-wise not playing at its expected level. Bunker Hill is 5th in runs scored (395) but 10th in runs allowed (397). Ace SP Jason Tonelli (5-6, 3.19) is pitching decently but not getting the run support he needs to thrive. SP Matt Gatekeeper (6-4, 2.25) is the same. On offense, no player is really standing out compared to the rest of the CBO. LF Jig McGhee (.317/16/51) has been the best all-around hitter.

Minutemen League

By being the only team in the ML with a winning record in their past 10 games at 7-3, University Point is starting to pull away with a CBO-best nine-game lead over Atom. There is then a jumble at positions 3-6 with Spectacle Island the closest team to .500, just four games back.

Jamaica Plain is on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second-straight season and may want to consider becoming sellers this season at eight games below .500. With the SCA's 8th best scoring team (392) and 10th in runs allowed (415), the Red Rockets just are not competitive on a daily basis. The middle of the lineup--2B Bulleye Shooterson (.305/18/53), LF Ken Debate (.328/22/66), and 3B Jaheim Harper (.311/15/43)--has been carrying the team. The pitching has been pretty bad, with ace SP Derek Green (7-6, 4.03) currently the only starter with an ERA below 5.00.

Railroad League

The top three teams all went 6-4 in their last 10 to maintain position. Roxbury holds a 2.5-game lead over both Egret and FHE, while Vault 81 and Oberland continue to keep themselves in playoff position. Diamond City is suddenly hot, winning 8 of 10, but they are way back of the rest of the pack.

Oberland is a better team than its 41-35 record indicates, but they have a tough road in a good RL. The T-51s are tied for 4th in runs scored (423) and 7th in runs allowed (369). They have the 3rd-best team batting average (.290) with 7 of 8 starters in the lineup batting .300 or better. With the acquisition of 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson (.310/11/29 at bat and 4-4, 4.95 on the mound), the T-51s could make a second-half run.

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

June 26 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Sylvester Scalone was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy The Slog Ghouls second baseman hit .536 while collecting 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs.

At the moment, Scalone is hitting .349 with 7 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has played in 66 games and scored 33 times.

The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Barker Cocoa of University Point last week. The first baseman had quite a 7-game stretch and today he was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week.

Cocoa delivered 10 hits in 19 at-bats to hit .526 with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs.

For the season, Cocoa is hitting .388, batted in 54 runs with 15 home runs and 68 runs scored.

July 3 - Cypher Raige is respected by most The Slog Ghouls fans for his no-frills style of play. The 21-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .450 average (9-for-20) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Currently Raige is batting .339 with 22 home runs, 54 RBIs and 53 runs scored.

A battle-tested Tomas Jones declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old University Point right fielder collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .500 average, 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This year, Jones is hitting at a .350 pace with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 37 times.

CCBL Analysis

The CCBL's 2311 season has come to an end with eight teams alive for the chance to play for the College Series. Though it will change in the future, this season, the league was divided into four divisions, separating the conferences. Next season, teams will be aligned in full conferences.

For the 2311 season, all division winners received automotive bids to the playoffs with the next four best records earning a wildcard spot. Teams were seeded according to record, so we will see one division winner as the 8th seed in the playoffs since their division had no teams above .500.

Division winners were:
BCAC North - Winthrop College
BCAC South - Mass Bay University
MassCon West - Assumption College
MassCon East - Mass Atlantic University

The first-round of the double-elimination tournament will look like this:
#8 Mass Atlantic at #1 Assumption
#5 Northeastern at #4 Harvard
#7 Glowing Sea at #2 Mass Bay
#6 Boston College at #3 Winthrop

Glowing Sea were my favorite of the expansion teams... shame they appear to be the worst... nice stadium at least...

Mine too! I'm just hoping it's because all their talent is young and in the minors lol. Hoping they take advantage of what should be a few seasons of early picks

Glowing Sea has its own Anthony Young pitching for them. Ryan Dennislynch is now 0-24 as a pitcher in the CBO, including 0-23 in two seasons as a part-time starter for the Radscorpions. He's currently their second starter. I am tempted to add "Anthony Young" as his nickname.

So, for Glowing Sea to compete, it will take a while for them to develop some pitching. They have three pitchers in their organization who can be OK starters, but no future ace just yet.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

17 July 2311

CBO Analysis

Welcome to our trade deadline preview. Teams vying for a championship in 2311 are now looking to pad their talent and depth, while those teams out of the race are going to start looking for key talent they can develop for future championship runs.

With more than 2/3 of the season completed, teams pretty much know if they are in it to win it or if they are looking to the future. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Roxbury Rad Sox (130.6, +)
2) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (124.5, -)
3) Starlight Killers (122.6, o)
4) Nahant Celtics (119.5, o)
5) FHE Yao Guai (117.5, +)
6) University Point Deathclaws (117.5, -)
7) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (107.2, ++)
8) Vault 81 Dwellers (104.3, -)
9) Bunker Hill 75ers (99.1, o)
10) Salem Witch Hats (98.1, ++)
11) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (97.2, +)
12) Egret Ninjas (95.3, --)
13) Spectacle Island Reapers (95.0, ++)
14) Oberland T-51s (92.1, -)
15) Lexington Synths (87.0, +)
16) Cambridge Coursers (84.8, ++)
17) Atom Cats (80.0, --)
18) County Crossing Bloodbugs (76.8, o)
19) Malden Grognaks (76.7, ++)
20) The Slog Ghouls (72.9, --)
21) Quincy Gunners (72.8, --)
22) Goodneighbor Hancocks (72.7, +)
23) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (70.7, -)
24) Diamond City Swatters (69.7, -)
25) Easy Town Assaultrons (68.5, +)
26) Concord Radstags (60.5, -)
27) Southie Brews (56.3, o)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (42.0, o)

Brotherhood League

Nahant and Nordhagen Beach are deadlocked, while the rest of the BL is pretty much jostling to earn a wildcard spot. Salem and The Slog have traded turns having deep slumps, with the Ghouls currently on a seven-game losing streak to drop them four games below .500.

Buyers - Nahant and Nordhagen Beach

Sellers - County Crossing, Malden, and Easy Town

The Assaultrons have fully fallen, currently in 7th place and tied with Concord for the NCA's worst record. The Trons are 12th in runs scored (394) and 13th in runs allowed (486). With the departure this season of 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson, it looked as though Easy Town was already looking to unload. Some relevant trade fodder for them includes SP Major Tom Brennan (5-10, 4.23), LF Baktu DaWell (.280/10/34), 3B Dog Prairie (.211/11/34), and CF Sharkey Lurkfodder (.297/9/47).

Institute League

Starlight owns the NCA's best record and leads both Sunshine Tidings and Fort Hagen by nine games, meaning that the Killers are probably at worst the NCA's 2nd seed in the playoffs. Bunker Hill is 10 back and currently occupies the NCA's 6th spot.

Buyers - Starlight, Sunshine Tidings, Fort Hagen, Bunker Hill

Sellers - Cambridge, Concord

The Radstags are on the verge of clinching their sixth-straight season out of the playoffs. As opposed to the Assaultrons, though, the Stags have some building blocks, meaning they probably will not be giving away young players. That also means they have very few tradeable players that will help another team. If there were any they might consider, we would say RP Aaron Still (0-1, 5.86) and SP Chad Nailgun (5-12, 5.00).

Minutemen League

University Point has won this league. Well, not officially, but the 2nd-place team, Atom, is currently on a six-game losing streak and 12 games back. Outside of the the Deathclaws, we would say that every other team in this league should be looking to build for 2312. None of them have a chance at winning it all in 2311.

Buyers - University Point

Sellers - Atom, Spectacle Island, Quincy, Goodneighbor, Jamaica Plain, Southie

The Brews recently made an interesting personnel move, hiring former Egret and Bunker Hill pitching coach Ken Myers to help its BMU team, the Pleasant Lake Patriots. Myers has a reputation of being an excellent coach in influencing mechanics as well as average for developing players. That will be helpful since Southie does not have any true pitching prospects outside the two already thrown to the radwolves in the CBO, SP Air McNair (4-11, 5.35) and SP Sham Killarney (2-7, 5.30). BMU player, SP Dolf Steak, could be one to develop, but we will wait to see. The only players that may be a worthwhile tradeaway player to get a couple more prospects is CF Beckett Quantum (.304/12/35).

Railroad League

Still standing above the rest with four of the CBO's eight 50-win teams, the RL has been thrilling but can now be divided into tiers. Roxbury leads with the CBO's best record and leads FHE by three games. Vault 81, Egret, and Oberland are all pretty close. Diamond City will finish 6th, and Glowing Sea will finish 7th.

Buyers - Roxbury, FHE, Vault 81, Egret, Oberland

Sellers - Diamond City, Glowing Sea

Like Southie, the Radscorpions have few pitching prospects to build upon at this point. They do, however, have more veterans that they can sell for building up some depth in their pitching minors. Those include 1B Casey Roux (.272/13/34), 2B Elton Goodspeed (.237/2/25/26 SB), and SS Well Done Dungan (.253/2/16).

CBO Standings

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1722609020

CBO Players of the Week

July 10 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Jig McGhee was in a class by himself in the North Charles Association this past week. Nobody did it better.

The outstanding left fielder for Bunker Hill tagged opposing pitchers for a .500 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 26 at-bats, 3 homers, 7 runs scored and 9 RBIs.

This season, McGhee is swinging the bat at a .333 pace. He has hit 19 home runs and scored 67 times, while driving in 60. His on-base percentage is .431 and he has played in 80 games.

His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Actually Aucoin was rewarded with the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Atom Cats right fielder hit .560 while collecting 14 hits in 25 at-bats, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs.

Aucoin is hitting .348 this season with 14 home runs, 53 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He has 104 hits in 299 at-bats.

July 17 - When Diamond Ball stepped into the batter's box, he meant business. His outstanding play this week has netted the Nahant third baseman the well-deserved North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

Playing in 6 games he lashed out a .615 average with 16 hits, 4 home runs, 14 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Ball on the season is batting .325 with 20 home runs. His totals include 66 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has played in 84 games.

Nate Tivity captured all the headlines last week and today he added to his booty with the South Charles Association Player of the Week trophy.

The University Point Deathclaws third baseman hammered league hurlers for 10 hits in 23 at-bats, a .435 average and 2 home runs. He also collected 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This year, Tivity has hit at a .276 pace and produced 38 RBIs, 8 home runs and scored 49 runs.

CBO Draft Preview

Here are five more prospects whose names we could see called in the 2311 Draft:

1. 1B Tonguetie Edder, SR, Hope - The four-year starter at 1B for the Firestarters, Edder has been consistently good at hitting the longball. Scouts think that he can be an All-Star caliber pick if he learns to be well-disciplined at the plate. While his defense is nothing to praise, his offensive abilities should keep him on the field at every level.

2. RF Getty Ivey, Sr, Marblehead - Ivey is a good all-around hitter, batting .332/20/42 his senior season for the Mess. Scouts like his ability to put the bat on the ball and potentially drive it out of the park. They also rate his defense as sufficient to be an everyday corner outfielder in the CBO. His arm is good, not great, so he may project better as a LF than RF.

3. 1B Jimmy-James Sessoms, Sr, Marlborough - Sessoms is a good defensive 1B, though he can play corner OF in a pinch. He has plus potential in all the key tools in the batter's box. He showed that he is developing each season in the CYL by increasing his batting average and home run outputs each season, including a career-high .295/24/51 mark in 2311.

4. SP Buzzcut McDonald, Sr, Hester - McDonald suffered a UCL injury his senior season that hurt his draft stock. Scouts believe he is the best pitcher in the draft, though, and he should be ready for the 2312 season. McDonald has four good pitches with his strikeout-inducing high fastball being the most dominant pitch. Scouts believe he can develop into a staff ace, which means that he could go in the top five draft picks.

5. 3B Durn Wonderfloss, Sr, Malden - Wonderfloss woke up his senior season, batting .313/24/59. He already is developing tremendous power and could develop into one of the best power hitters in this draft class. While his defense is not great, he can hold his own, which means he could develop into a steady everyday, middle-of-the-lineup player.

TBH I just had the thought now though if we're gonna draw a real parallel, say they're the Rockies. Terrible team, but great atmosphere, able to draw people for reasons besides performance (in this case, that cool stadium chief among them, and I'm sure if we want to extend the comparison, we can think of some unique ballpark menu items which I hear is a big draw in Denver)

Winthrop College Wins College Series

Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better.

It was the latter case in 2311, as the Winthrop College Guardians topped the Boston College Eagles 6-1 tonight at Winthrop College Stadium to win the College Series. It was the 1st title in franchise history.

"When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Winthrop College first baseman John Coleman, who was named series MVP.

The Guardians took the series 2-0. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the BCAC North Division and a 48-33 record.

Winthrop College manager Robbie Burgos grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Coleman's words.

"John said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said.

The Guardians went undefeated in the college playoffs as the #3 seed. They entered the College Series from the Winner's Bracket after defeating #6 Boston College, #2 Mass Bay University, and #8 Mass Atlantic University.

College officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come.

BMU Regular Season Ends

For the lucky few going to the playoffs, the season is just beginning. For most, the postseason is a just a distant pipe dream -- a season that could have been. Their season is over except for the bashing, rehashing and revamping that takes place in the hot stove league. It's now time for the dominant teams to do battle for the 2311 Boston Minor Union championship. It will be decided in the Boston Minor Series. Only the best will be left standing.

It's playoff time. The best teams have emerged from the divisional battles and now it is the survival of the fittest. Only one team will survive and they will be crowned the Boston Minor Union champions. Here are the matchups in the Association Championship:
Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters (Egr) vs Winchester Bashers (DC) and West Roxbury Mole Rats (FHE) vs Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials (BH).

The Mole Rats had the most thrilling finish to the season, defeating Hull 3-1 in a play-in game to clinch the Downtown Boston League. West Roxbury starter Wes O'Cop pitched a good game to help his team take down the Hull Lead Bellies, 3-1. With the win, the Mole Rats finished at 53-36.

Ogee Peebles had a direct impact on the outcome. Peebles contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put West Roxbury up, 2-1.

"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Melon Sanderson, former five-time All-Star in the CBO.

GBRL Season Done, Four Teams Remain

The 2311 regular season is now history, and all the championship contenders have been determined. The Greater Boston Rookie League playoffs will begin in just a few days. This is the renowned "Second Season," which decides the league's top team. The winner of the Rookie Series will be this year's champions.

The regular season has closed and now the "real" season begins. The playoffs in Greater Boston Rookie League start today and all the clubs that made it into the League Championship are hungry to claim the ultimate prize: the champion's mantle -- the Rookie Series title. The playoffs begin today with these matchups:
Croup Manor Inspectors (Nah) vs Union Hope Lifegivers (SI) and Big John Salvagers (Rox) vs Greater Mass Vans (FHE).

In the Southeast Division, the Big John Salvagers locked up a win at Big John's Salvage Park, knocking off the Poseidon Energy Mongrels, 8-4, in a play-in game to determine the division winner. On the mound for Big John was right-hander Marse McCarthy. He played a major role in the triumph. Floatee Fuentes earned the save, his 22nd in 25 tries. Big John finished with a record of 54-35 with the win.

In his 119-pitch effort, McCarthy allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 8.1 innings. He walked 5 and struck out 10.

"Marse pounded the zone relentlessly tonight," said Big John manager Peter Kaprielian.
