BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

19 August 2312

CBO Analysis

The 2312 season has two more weeks and 13 more games to play for each team. While no team has yet to earn a spot, four teams--Malden, Lexington, Glowing Sea, and Spectacle Island--have been eliminated with that order the current top of the 2312 Rooke Draft order. Only one league leader, Fort Hagen, has a solid lead, thus a Magic # below 10 (7). The rest of the league races and the wildcard races are still very much in doubt.

Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Salem Witch Hats (121.7, ++)
2) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (120.3, o)
3) County Crossing Bloodbugs (109.2, -)
4) Roxbury Rad Sox (102.5, ++)
5) Vault 81 Dwellers (99.8, +)
6) Bunker Hill 75ers (99.5, -)
7) Oberland T-51s (99.5, --)
8) Starlight Killers (96.8, ++)
9) University Point Deathclaws (96.8, ++)
10) Diamond City Swatters (96.3, ++)
11) FHE Yao Guai (95.8, --)
12) Goodneighbor Hancocks (94.4, o)
13) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (93.7, ++)
14) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (92.4, --)
15) The Slog Ghouls (90.8, o)
16) Concord Radstags (89.3, -)
17) Southie Brews (87.2, --)
18) Egret Ninjas (85.8, --)
19) Nahant Celtics (85.2, o)
20) Atom Cats (83.6, o)
21) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (82.8, --)
22) Cambridge Coursers (76.9, +)
23) Spectacle Island Reapers (75.4, +)
24) Quincy Gunners (72.8, o)
25) Easy Town Assaultrons (70.9, --)
26) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (69.7, o)
27) Lexington Synths (66.3, o)
28) Malden Grognaks (65.2, o)

Brotherhood League

Unless something crazy happens, there are four teams in the playoff race and four teams out in the Brotherhood League. After allowing County Crossing to catch up and tie them for a day, Salem has now gone on a five-game winning streak to extend it lead back to three games. Nordhagen Beach and The Slog are fighting for 3rd place and a spot in the playoffs.

The Witch Hats are again the CBO's top team with the top record, though Fort Hagen is just one game back in the race to the #1 seed. Salem has been near the top of all statistical categories all season, showing the Hats to be one of the most-balanced teams in the CBO. The Hats are 3rd in runs scored (663) and 2nd in runs against (529), a difference of 5.67 to 4.52 (or over one run) per game. The top three hitters in the lineup--LF Dan Erb (.280/23/59/33 SB), 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (.324/24/70), and 1B Brian DeLong (.304/22/68)--have high averages and the most homr runs on the team. The top seven hitters are dangerous. The best pitchers for ERA purposes are SPs Jaa Thirtysix (11-9, 3.06) and Pokey Chatman (8-13, 3.66). Chatman has not had great run support in his starts.

Looking at key matchups down the stretch, Salem travels to Nordhagen Beach for three and County Crossing for two in two of its three final series of the season. That final week could lead to a showdown between the Hats and Bugs for the BL crown. The Party Boys have a few tough series with five more against the Bloodbugs and three against Salem. The only team with a winning record left on the Ghouls' schedule is their three-game visit at Jamaica Plain starting today.

Prediction:
Winner: County Crossing (2)
Wildcards: Salem (3), The Slog (5), Nordhagen Beach (6)

Institute League

As mentioned, the Silver Shroud have the largest lead at seven games. Behind the Shroud are the Bunker hill 75ers, Starlight Killers, Concord Radstags, and Sunshine Tidings in that order. The last three of that group are 10, 11, and 12 games back, so they are also jostling for place and a spot in the playoffs in a tight race where Starlight would be in as the 6th playoff team and each of the Stags and Chemists would be out.

The 75ers have not been much of a blip on our radar all season, but they sit in the 4th slot in the playoff hunt as we go down the stretch. Bunker Hill is 4th in runs scored (656) and 8th in runs allowed (568). SS Aaron Squire (.289/34/107) has been the most outstanding hitter on the team with a great season from LF Jig McGhee (.340/17/85/25 SB) and additional power from 3B Cave Dweller Bourgeois (.287/25/74). SPs Jason Tonelli (8-9, 3.96) and Max Thuderdome (12-8, 3.87) have been pitching well as of late.

Fort Hagen should have no problem clinching the IL as early as this week. The Silver Shroud play two teams, Diamond City and Quincy, from the SCA this week before finishing the season against Starlight, Nahant, and Sunshine Tidings. The 75ers only tough matchup remaining is a three-game trip to Concord next week. The Killers will have a tough road, including road trips to Roxbury this week and at the Shroud next week. The Stags will also have it tough with all five of their remaining series against winning teams. The same goes for Sunshine Tidings.

Prediction:
Winner: Fort Hagen (1)
Wildcards: Bunker Hill (4)

Minutemen League

The top three teams are all within a game of each other with Goodneighbor at the top of the heap, followed by a cold Jamaica Plain (five-game losing streak) and University Point both a game back. While Southie and Atom have been playing well over a stretch of time to get them near .500, they can be considered out of the race. Quincy will be eliminated within the next few days.

The Hancocks are in 1st place, but they are the most Jekyll and Hyde team from pitching to hitting. For runs against (465) and Starters ERA (3.35), Goodneighbor is atop the SCA, but the Hancocks are last in runs scored (499). On the mound, despite terrible run support, all four starters are above .500: Heaven Fontenott (11-10, 3.51), Clubhouse Treelover (11-8, 2.82), Mister Burns (12-8, 3.12), and Pollox Troye (9-3, 2.64). There are some decent hitters in the Goodneighbor lineup, but no stars, with CF Missile Crews (.301/19/62/27 SB) probably being the best all-around hitter.

With this league being in a three-team race, the matchups for all three of Goodneighbor, the Red Rockets, and the Deathclaws will matter. Amid three series against lower-ranked teams in Easy Town, Quincy, and Atom, the Hancocks play two series against University Point, which could determine the slot for the playoffs or missing the playoffs altogether. The Rockets and Claws also face off for a three-game stretch next week, where the Claws will have eight-straight games against eith Jamaica Plain or the Hancocks.

Prediction:
Winner: University Point (2)
Wildcards: Goodneighbor (6)

Railroad League

With five games separating 1st and 5th, the Railroad League is the most exciting league down the stretch. Roxbury has a two-game lead and the SCA's top record, followed by Oberland, FHE, Vault 81, and Egret. Diamond City is just one game under .500, but we do not see a path for the Swatters to sneak in unless they got super hot and finish at around 70-60. Despite their current five-game winning streak, that will not happen.

Vault 81 is a team both on the cusp of surging ahead or falling behind the pack. Looking at the Dwellers statistically, however, we are putting them in the championship contender category. The Dwellers are 1st in runs scored (656) and 4th in runs allowed (547). Four players have 20 or more home runs: CF Stu Gains (.304/25/74), 2B Harry Byrd (.296/21/68), RF Joe Rathmann (.328/21/59), and C Phantom Vargas (.302/20/70). On the mound, neither of the top two starters have been dominant, but they have been decent: Scruffy Taguchi (11-11, 4.02) and Exxie Summerset (12-8, 3.89).

This league race is complicated, so let's start at the top and work our way down. Roxbury faces four-straight teams with winning records in Starlight, Egret, Oberland, and the Ninjas again, before finishing at Diamond City. The T-51s also have three tough series but five games against the Swatters. The Yao Guai only have two more teams with winning records to play: the Ninjas and Dwellers. The Dwellers get an easier path,, including hosting Cambridge and Glowing Sea this week. They also host Sunshine Tidings and FHE next week with a trip to the Glowing Sea Dome in between those series. The Ninjas have it the toughest with series against Concord, Roxbury (twice), FHE, and the Radscorpions.

Prediction:
Winner: Oberland (1)
Wildcards: Vault 81 (3), Roxbury (4), FHE (5)

CBO Standings

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729428770

CBO Players of the Week

August 5 - A battle-tested Babs Rooth declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old County Crossing right fielder collected the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .467 average, 7 hits in 15 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

This year, Rooth is batting .365 with 36 home runs and 101 RBIs.

It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Daub Buckle, the Southie Brews 20-year-old catcher, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 9 hits in 15 at-bats, compiling a .600 average with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.

Thus far this season, Buckle has hit .310 with 17 home runs, 64 RBIs and scored 51 times.

August 12 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Duff Fee was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Concord Radstags center fielder hit .524 while collecting 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs.

On the year, Fee has hit .326 with 25 home runs, 63 RBIs and scored 65 runs.

Gremlin T. Squearfish demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

The Atom left fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .480 average (12-for-25) with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

To date, Squearfish has collected 143 hits for a .340 average. He has posted 16 home runs, scored 66 runs and driven in 57 runs.

August 19 - Nauseous Revere has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old second baseman of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Revere batted .600 with 12 hits in 20 at-bats, 3 home runs and 9 RBIs.

In the current season, Revere has put up a .324 batting average with 132 hits, 14 home runs, 75 RBI and scored 90 runs.

One of the league's most exciting young players, Zod Gaycey of the Spectacle Island Reapers earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 25-year-old left fielder had a lofty .519 average (14-for-27), collecting 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Posting a .320 batting average to date, Gaycey has 30 home runs and 88 RBIs.

CBO Noteworthy News

August 7 - Dan Erb reached the 2000-hit mark today. Salem's 35-year-old left fielder received a standing ovation from Salem Witch Hats and Nahant Celtics fans alike. On the day, Erb went 3-for-6 in the Witch Hats 14-3 victory.

Over his career Erb is batting .303 with 346 home runs and 1102 RBIs. In 1727 games he has delivered 2000 hits, scored 1122 runs, stolen 90 bases and gotten on base at a .382 clip.

August 10 - Stuart Costantino hit for the cycle and paced the Nahant Celtics to a win, 13-4, against the Easy Town Assaultrons at Easy Town Field.

The Celtics catcher led the way for his club with 4 hits in 5 at-bats -- 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- along with 5 runs batted in and 1 run.

"Now that I know what Stuart is capable of, I'm going to expect it more often," Nahant manager Soini Alapassi joked with reporters after the game.

Stuart Costantino hit a two-run home run off Hitman Medicman in the 3rd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 6th and struck out in the 9th.

Thus far this season in 91 games, Costantino is batting .243 with 2 home runs, 27 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 69 hits in 284 at-bats.

August 11 - Dwellers ace Scruffy Taguchi reeled in his 150th career victory by beating the Roxbury Rad Sox 14-5 at CURIE Inc. Field. In his historic win, he notched 2 strikeouts in 6.1 innings, yielded 4 runs and 5 hits, while surrendering 1 walk.

"I tried to focus on each batter," said Taguchi after the game, "but as the game goes by, I couldn't help but think about the possibility. 150 is a big number. It's an exclusive club and I'm honored to be a member."

Taguchi has authored a 150-128 won-lost record in his career with a 3.71 ERA.

August 13 - What a day for Barker Cocoa. The 34-year-old University Point first baseman reached the 2000-hit mark today and the Deathclaws whipped the Vault 81 Dwellers 6-2.

Cocoa told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 2 for 3 in the game to reach the milestone.

Cocoa is hitting .359 lifetime with 2001 hits, 335 doubles, 19 triples, 534 home runs, and 1463 RBIs to date. He has scored 1575 runs and stolen 37 bases.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

22 August 2312

Nuka World League Regular Season Ends

The 2312 NWL regular season has concluded, and the Nuka Series will be the Quantum Nukalurks versus the Cherry Ghoulrillas. Quantum is making its fourth Nuka Series and first since 2308. The Ghoulrillas will be playing in their seventh and first since 2307. Cherry is second all-time in championships with three, while the Nukalurks are third all-time with two. Victory has the most championships with four. Those are the only three teams to win multiple Nuka Series.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729463309

There were just two records set this season, both pitching. Quantum SP Cameron Biehler, who had already set the record for losses in a season (14) in 2307, has now set the record for victories in a season (18). His 18 victories besterd the 2307 record of 17 set by Jesse Emacipated. Cherry's CL Old Buck Buchanan also set the saves record (28), beating the record of 27 set in 2309 (Josh Kelley) and 2311 (Lionel Minelli). Buchanan previously had seasons of 26 saves (2307) and 25 (2306). He is the NWL's all-time saves leader with 157. The only other player with more than 100 in his career is Kelley, currently an RP on the Goodneighbor Hancocks of the CBO.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729463309

Amusement Park League

The 2313 APL season will look quite a bit different as the NWL figures out how to better manage its up-and-coming players. For now, this version of the APL is complete with the 2312 divisional champions being the Bradberton Disciples (Victory) and Grandchester Flying Ants (Cherry). The two teams won all championships from 2302 (Grandchester) through 2306 (Bradberton 2303-2306).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729463309

NWLRL

Speaking of changes, the NWLRL is folding after this season, and CBO franchises have already paid for the rights to a few team names. The thought is that there will be a mix of current teams from the APL and NWLRL making up the APL next season and copying the occupation of NWL stadiums for those teams. There is no word about the reassociation of teams or their parent teams.

For this ninth and supposedly final season of the NWLRL, the Nuka Jolly Elves (Victory) will take on the Hubologist Camp Barkers (Cherry) for the NWL Rookie Series. Cherry is represented in all three levels of the NWL playoffs. Neither of the Elves nor Barkers has ever won the NWLRL championship. Nuka Jolly is making is third NWL Rookie Series and second-straight. The Barkers are making their first appearance. They had been the only team to never appear in the NWL Rookie Series.

There was only one record broken in 2312 in all of the Vim! League. Cranberry Island's 2B Bobba Fette set the triples record (14), beating out Water Allen's 2305 record of 13. The Vim! League also saw a record number of players with 10 or more triples this season with three players hitting at least 10. National Park SS DaMan Sayes (11) and Echo Lake LF Witcher Craft hit 10. Before this season, there had been only five total players with 10 or more triples in a season. Allen is the all-time leader with 68. He finished with six this season.

Mount Desert Island League

The end of the 2312 MDIL season was as exciting as it could be with both divisions finishing in a tie in the regular season, requiring a one-game playoff in each of the divisions for the right to play in the Mount Desert Island Series. In the Small Bertha Division, the Cliff's Edge Actors (Cranberry Isle) bested the Brooke's Head Behemoths (Far Harbor), 6-5, on a walk-off walk. The Actors scored two in the bottom of the 9th to win it. In the Longfellow Division, the Haddock Cove Engineers (Grand Hotel) held off the Oceanarium Oceanics (National Park), 2-1, to win the division. RF Sunrise Lapdog's RBI double in the bottom of the 8th was the difference.

Vim! Rookie League

Like what Evan Guy covered about the NWLRL, the Vim! Rookie League will also cease to exist after this season. With that stated, the last season of the VRL ended with the Glowing Grove Brainiacs (National Park) and Huntress Island Ug-Qualtoths (Dalton Farm) winning their divisions for the right to play in the Vim! Rookie Series. This will mark the Brainiacs' fourth trip to the Vim! Rookie Series with their only championship coming in their last appearance in 2310. Huntress Island is making its first appearance in the Vim! Rookie Series with the first championship being in 2302 as part of the MDIL.

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Nauseous Revere may be much younger than other hitters in the North Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in August to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 23-year-old Fort Hagen second baseman hit .415 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

Revere on the season is batting .327 with 16 home runs. His totals include 87 RBIs and 102 runs scored. He has played in 124 games.

SCA Hitter - On the heels of a very productive August, Joe Rathmann received South Charles Association Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested right fielder hit .374 for the Vault 81 Dwellers and racked up 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

This season, Rathmann is batting .332 with 23 home runs.

NCA Pitcher - Elastic Man Haley is the latest North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Fort Hagen starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished August with a sparkling 5-2 record.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

3 September 2312

2312 Season Comes to Close; Fort Hagen-Roxbury Earn #1 Bids

With University Point and FHE meeting in a 6th-seed tiebreaker, a 4-1 Deathclaws' victory, the 2312 season has now come to a close. Another season has come to pass and "to the winners go the spoils" -- the lucky ones will be headed for the playoffs in a few days and a chance to win the Commonwealth Baseball Organization title in the Sole Survivor Series. The envious losers, however, will suffer a long and somber offseason, wondering where it all went wrong and trying to figure out how to do it right.

The NCA playoff teams in order will be Fort Hagen, County Crossing, Salem, Bunker Hill, The Slog, and Nordhagen Beach. In the SCA, the playoff teams in order are Roxbury, Goodneighbor, Vault 81, Oberland, Jamaica Plain, and University Point.

Looking at the draft order, the following positions represent the Top 5 picks based on worst records on the season: 1. Glowing Sea, 2. Malden, 3. Lexington, 4. Quincy, 5. Spectacle Island.

We will begin previewing the playoffs this week, so we will not break down each of the leagues as we typically do in the playoffs. What we would like to do is look a bit at the playoff teams and players to watch:

CBO's Regular Season Warriors: NCA #1 Fort Hagen - Finishing at 82-48, the Silver Shroud were five games ahead of County Crossing for the CBO's best record. At 9-1 in their final 10 games, the Shroud are also entering the playoffs as dangerous as ever. Fort Hagen can score, and it has enough top pitching to make them favorites in the playoffs. Players to watch are 2B Nauseous Revere (.326/16/87) and SP La'Ray Kalel (19-6, 3.00).

Too Good or Not Good Enough: SCA #1 Roxbury - They may have finished with the SCA's top record, but the Rad Sox did not blow people away this season. Finishing 3rd in runs scored (686) and7th in runs against (637), this season's team is not like some of those past championship teams. There is still good veteran presence, including hitters C Ayag Mour (.313/17/80), LF Ben Pawlak (.289/17/72), and 3B Donn Mattingley (.333/27/86).

Never Count Them Out: NCA # 6 Nordhagen Beach - Now making the playoffs in all 15 seasons of the CBO, the Party Boys have also represented the NCA in the Sole Survivor Series the past three seasons (winning in 2309 and 2310), four of the last five seasons (winning it in 2307), and five of the last seven seasons. The Boys were in the Sole Survivor Series in seven of the first 14 seasons, winning four. They are the first team to appear in three-straight SSSs. LF Gorgeous DiGiacomo (.312/17/71) has wrestled control of the offense, with SP Beachboy Nut (14-5, 3.32) still a premium ace. Rookie CL Yank Daley (37 SV, 1.74) led the SCA and was tied for the CBO lead in saves.

Count Them Out: NCA #3 Salem - The Witch Hats held on to the CBO's top record for most of the season. Then, as the playoffs approached, the Hats collapsed. Entering the playoffs, Salem is one of the CBO's coldest teams, going 1-9 in their last 10. Now, as the third seed and without that bye, we do not see the Witch Hats being prepared to handle playoff veterans in Nordhagen Beach. This season has gotten ugly quickly.

Young Guns: SCA #2 Goodneighbor - Despite their Minutemen League championship, their first since 2300, the Hancocks have to be disappointed in their offensive output. Still, this is a young team that will only get better with leadership in CF Missile Crews (.311/23/78) and RF Jay Gabby (.284/24/76). On the mound, the young guns of SPs Heaven Fontenot (12-12, 3.60), Clubhouse Treelover (13-8, 2.89), and Mister Burns (13-8, 3.03).

Old Glory: SCA #6 University Point - With one of the most veteran teams in the CBO (Nordhagen Beach and Roxbury is in that same boat), the Deathclaws are hoping to use their experience to their advantage in the long climb up from the sixth seed. 34-year-old 1B Barker Cocoa (.327/48/122), 35-year-old CF Aesed Hayjen (.301/15/45), 35-year-old RF Tomas Jones (.283/18/69), and 35-year-old SP Tony Bertha (8-7, 4.67) was the unquestioned leaders of the team.

Happy to Be Here: NCA #5 The Slog - With just their second playoff appearance in the past 12 seasons, the Ghouls have not been to the party much. Their best run came in back-to-back appearances in 2299 and 2300. The Ghouls were actually the winners of the first Sole Survivor Series over fellow BL team, the Finch Farm Four Leafs (now Nahant). However, that series does not count in the full CBO period. All of The Slog's success in 2312 has been great, but we do not expect the Ghouls to get past Bunker Hill in the Wildcard Round.

Won't Give Up: NCA #2 Country Crossing - If Fort Hagen were not so hot, we might have the Bloodbugs as the NCA favorites. However, as the #2 seed and a first-round bye, the Bugs are poised to return to glory from their playoff run of 9 out of 10 seasons before missing last season. County Crossing is a dangerous team all-around, but the late-season injury to star RF Babs Rooth (.365/37/107), seven RBI shy of the Triple Crown, will mean that the Bloodbugs will have to scrape together a few more victories. SS Cy Thompson (.301/24/62), who was injured in a mininuke explosion, could be back for the Semifinals.

Biggest Wildcard: NCA #4 Bunker Hill - The 75ers have been superhot for a while and could carry that momentum into the playoffs where they will be the favorites to move to the Semifinals Round against the Silver Shroud. There are several outstanding players, but LF Jig McGhee (.341/20/94), SS Aaron Squire (.283/36/114), and 3B Cave Dweller Bourgeois (.286/28/86) are among the best middle of the lineup trio in the CBO. SPs Jason Tonelli (9-9, 3.78) and Max Thunderdome (16-8, 3.40) lead the pitching staff.

Power Hour: SCA #5 Jamaica Plain - The Red Rockets had made the playoffs 9 out of 10 seasons before missing the last two, including finishing in 6th place in 2311. The 2312 version fought for a league title before falling just a game short and earning the fifth seed. The Rockets' best chance is to keep hitting home runs at the rate they have--195 in 130 games or 1.5 per game--to lead the CBO. The top three of those power hitters were LF Ken Debate (.292/32/93), SS Brandon Larsonist (.229/25/46), and 3B Tre' Morgueman (.260/23/80). Six players hit 15 or more homers on the season.

Hotter Than Hot: SCA #3 Vault 81 - We were ready to hand the Railroad League to Oberland, or at least to Roxbury as a consolation.Well, the Dwellers made it interesting, winning their last eight to finish just a game back of the Rad Sox. Vault 81 was also tied with Jamaica Plain in the SCA for the best record (8-2) in their last 10.While they fell just short of the home run crown with 193, the Dwellers have five players who finished with more than 20 home runs, including team leader CF Stu Gains (.298/28/80). None of them blew anyone out of the water, but the three playoff starters--Exxie Summerset (13-8, 3.92), Scruffy Taguchi (12-13, 3.82), and Ryan Goodpryce (9-5, 3.93)--are tough to beat.

Sleeping Giants: SCA #4 Oberland - We personally think that the Oberland T-51s are the CBO's best team (see below), but they have not performed that way throughout the season, finishing tied for 7th in runs scored (662) and 10th in runs allowed (665). That's right; the T-51s were outscored on the season. With a few injuries and underperformances, we are expecting the T-51s to turn up the heat and put a lot of pressure on the top seeds in the tournament.

Sole Survivor Series Prediction: Oberland over Fort Hagen

Well this end was fun! Three teams fighting for two spots on the final day, and three exciting pennant races. Glad Jamaica Plain got in on the final game! Though too bad it was easy for the Party Boys. Always a threat

A lot of low in totals here overall, maybe that means Fort Hagen runs away with it? I'll go them over Oberland in 5

It is a rare season when only one team finishes with an above .600 winning percentage. I am excited about the state of the league right now. I truly believe any team can win it and will only be disappointed if it's a rematch of Nordhagen Beach-Roxbury from last season.

CBO Playoff Tree

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729905872

NCA Wildcard Round: #6 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (70-60) vs #3 Salem Witch Hats (74-56)

Season Series: Nordhagen Beach 7, Salem 3

April 8-9 @NB: NB 6-3, Sal 7-2
June 4-6 @Sal: NB 13-3, NB 5-4(10), Sal 6-3
July 25-26 @Sal: NB 6-2(10), Sal 4-0
August 26-28 @NB: NB 3-0, NB 5-1, NB 3-1

Analysis

While Salem looked to be on top of the world for a good part of 2312, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are used to that role With the Witch Hats fading down the stretch to not only lose the #1 seed but lose control of the Brotherhood League, they now have to face the NCA's winners of the last three Championship Series.

In the regular season, the Boys owned it with a 7-3 record. Beachboy Nut (3-0, 1.57) was particularly effective, leading to three of Pokey Chatman's (0-3, 4.76) losses on the season. With the bat, C Clownie Blammo (.435/1/5) had lots of hits for Nordhagen Beach, while CF Maxx Murtagh (.294/3/6) provided most of the power. For the Hats, 1B Brian DeLong (.355/1/3) and CF Andy Dogleash (.333/0/3) each had 11 hits, while SS Hopper Hayes (.250/2/5) had the most homers against the Boys.

Speaking of Hayes, the Hayes twins will face off in the playoffs as their careers enter their downturn. Nordhagen Beach's 2B Jumper Hayes (.294/4/31) is a 10-time All-Star and nine-time Corvega Top Defender Award winner. In his career, he has hit .313 with 229 home runs, 1091 RBI, and 1073 runs with Goodneighbor (2296-2303) and Nordhagen Beach (2304-2312). SS Hopper Hayes (.271/9/63) spent most of his career with Egret (2300-2312) before playing with Salem in 2311-2312. While not as accomplished as his brother, Hopper has two All-Star appearances and 10 Corvega Top Defender Awards. In his career, he has batted. 247 with 64 home runs, 481 RBI, and 1248 runs. He has stolen 132 bases.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729905830

For the Party Boys, they finished the 2312 season as the 8th-best scoring team (610 runs). Their best offensive stats were OBP (7th at .335) and home runs (tied for 7th at 153), which shows that some of the aging stars have begun to slow down, though they very much can turn on the light in the playoffs as they traditionally do. Five of their starters are over 30, which seems to be the beginning of the end for a lot of the top hitters and pitchers. RF Jonathan Angelou (.210/22/89) may not be hitting over .300 anymore, but the 33-year-old hit 20+ homers for the 12th straight season. he is third all-time in home runs with 459.

The mound has been a little bit better for the Boys. Nordhagen Beach finished 4th in runs allowed (598), 8th in Starters ERA (4.13), and 7th in Bullpen ERA (5.11). SP Beachboy Nut (14-5, 3.32) and SP Deedee Martinson (9-9, 3.61) were the best starters, though SP Denaria Kee (10-8, 3.80) was a pleasant pickup from The Slog. In the bullpen, rookie CL Yank Daley (37 SV, 1.74) was the leader with several veterans, including Tommy Beach (6-2, 5.54) and David "AntAgonist" Kidd (3-2, 5.43), struggling.

Salem was 4th in scoring (689) with thir best categories being WAR (3rd at 21.5) and Steals (3rd at 170). The top of the lineup is the deadliest spot, with all three of the top guys finishing with over 20 home runs: 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (.309/24/72), LF Dan Erb (.282/25/63), and 1B Brian DeLong (.293/23/70). The top seven hitters are all decent, making the lineup a tough one to stop from scoring.

The Witch Hats finished 3rd in runs allowed (589), including 4th in Starters ERA (4.00) and Bullpen ERA (4.78). The top two starters--Jaa Thirtysix (12-11, 3.14) and Pokey Chatman (8-16, 3.72)--give the Hats the top chance to win, though Chatman had poor run support all season, including going 0-3 in four starts against the Boys. In the bullpen, Salem will probably turn to RP Aimer Doghair (9-3, 3.93) and CL Aaron Demps (12 SV, 3.28) to get outs.

Prediction

Statistically speaking, the Hats have the advantages. This team may have something to show in the future, but we have a but. They are facing off against Nordhagen Beach. As mentioned, the Party Boys are seeking their fourth-straight trip to the Sole Survivor Series. This team is a veteran team chiseled in playoff experience. It's a three-game series, but we expect the Boys to take the first two, meaning series over. Nordhagen Beach 2, Salem 0

NCA Wildcard Round: #5 The Slog Ghouls (71-59) vs #4 Bunker Hill 75ers (73-57)

Season Series: The Slog 3, Bunker Hill 1

May 22-23 @Slog: Slog 4-3(11), Slog 5-4
July 27-28 @BH: BH 8-5, Slog 4-0

Analysis

This is a battle of two teams with very little playoff experience, partially due to three of the teams in the playoffs in 2312: Nordhagen Beach, Fort Hagen, and Country Crossing. For The Slog, this is their fourth appearance since the full CBO formed. They also made it to the first two seasons of the split CBO where they even won the first and now unofficial Sole Survivor Series, taking it over Finch Farm (now Nahant). Bunker Hill moved away from Abernathy Farm to find their winning ways. They had only made the playoffs once in the full CBO, back in 2298, before they made three straight playoff appearances from 2308-2310, including getting a shocking Sole Survivor Series victory in 2308, downing Oberland in seven games.

The 2312 season belong to the Ghouls in this series, winning 3 of 4. The Slog 3B Coup Hertwig (.625/2/4) could be considered the regular season MVP of the series. SS Gavin Deux-Gas added a .467/2/5 line. Rookie LF President Washington (.300/2/3) hit two of his 23 homers against te 75ers. SP Flirt Perez (1-0, 0.00) had the best outing, pitching seven scoreless innings in his lone start against Bunker Hill. The 75ers had no one who really stood out, though CF Sharkey Lurkfodder (.333/1/5) looked pretty good. Three bullpen pitchers combined for six scoreless innings versus the Ghouls.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729905830

The Slog did not stand out statistically on offense, though they were not bad. They were 6th in runs scored (641) with their best statistic being finishing 4th in average (.270). The Ghouls had five players with 20 or more home runs in the lineup: SS Deux-Gas (.300/27/72), 1B Kilometers Davis (.301/24/95), LF Washington (.205/23/59), C Silvam Fourteen (.283/21/71), and RF Cypher Raige (.290/20/63). Fourteen (32) and 3B Hertwig (30) are the only two players over 30 in the lineup.

Pitching was not good, with The Slog finishing 9th in runs allowed (631) and Starters ERA (4.25) and 8th in Bullpen ERA (5.12). Two starters--Perez (12-8, 3.43) and Cutter Redman (9-3, 3.31)--pitched well, while the other two--Isaiah Swindler (8-13, 4.29) and Make Money (12-11, 5.39)--did not. Money will move to the bullpen for the playoffs. CL Austen Austin (25 SV, 6.16) was not great. RP Mr X Lopez (8-3, 3.77) was probably the best from the pen.

Bunker Hill was a bit better on offense, finishing 3rd in runs scored (734), including 2nd in WAR (23.6) and home runs (187). SS Aaron Squire (.283/36/114) is the star of this team, though he struggled against the Ghouls in 2312. Other top contributors include LF Jig McGhee (.341/20/94), 3B Cave Dweller Bourgeois (.286/28/86), and CF Lurkfodder (.291/20/73).

The 75ers were not as successful on the mound, finishing 8th in runs allowed (627), 7th in Starters ERA (4.11), and 10th in Bullpen ERA (5.31). The best chances for wins are the top two starters in Jason Tonelli (9-9, 3.78) and Max Thunderdome (16-8, 3.40). In the bullpen, CL Wild Mouse Vavoom (24 SV, 4.23) struggled a bit, with RP Jim Livermore (6-3, 3.02) having the most success.

Prediction

Bunker Hill has been one of the hotter teams in the CBO down the stretch, finishing 21-9 in the last month, five games better than The Slog's 16-14. The Ghouls may have owned the regular season series, but we feel that the 75ers will pull this one out in a tight, good matchup. Bunker Hill 2, The Slog 1

Yeah, later they also mentioned Nick Valentine and Paladin Danse as players, which is strange since neither names were involved with the document I fed the AI. There are a couple of things that took me out of the moment, but I most certainly enjoyed hearing other "people" speak about the CBO and give some kudos to Nat Wright-Kawolski's writing. It would be fun to have PAM and Codsworth doing a CBO podcast.

CBO Playoffs 2312

SCA Wildcard Round: #6 University Point Deathclaws (69-62) vs #3 Vault 81 Dwellers (72-58)

Season Series: University Point 2, Vault 81 2

June 20-21 @V81: UP 6-4, V81 7-5
August 12-13 @UP: V81 3-0, UP 6-2

Analysis

Both University Point and Vault 81 have been successful teams, with the Deathclaws making their 12th playoff appearance in the past 13 years and the Dwellers making their 8th playoff appearance, including their third-straight. The difference has been in success in the playoffs with the Claws having made three Sole Survivor Series, winning two, and Vault 81 never reaching the finals. This season, the Dwellers should have the better chance to win it all, but we have seen that playoff success perpetuates playoff success in most seasons.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729974494

University Point is not its traditional dominating offense self, finishing tied for 7th in the SCA in runs scored (662). Their best stat was WAR (20.0) where they finished 2nd. The Claws were 3rd in home runs (183). Some of the veterans over 30 have begun to slow down, but 1B Barker Cocoa (.327/48/122) has not, leading the CBO in homers, RBI, WAR (7.3), runs (116), total bases (319), extra-base hits (71), ISO (.373), OPS+ (193), and WPA (5.94). He is also the CBO's all-time leader in 10 offensive categories. No one can stop Cocoa but Father Time. Other top contributors include LF Sack King (.291/30/83), SS Rock Rampage (.317/26/84), and CF Aesed Hayjen (.301/15/45/29 SB).

The Deathclaws had a lot more success in their pitching, finishing 3rd in runs allowed (585), 7th in Starters ERA (4.30), and 1st in Bullpen ERA (4.03). SP Joey Dimes (10-7, 3.93) was the only starter with a sub-4.00 ERA, but the other three starters had ranges in the 4.00 area, including ace Tony Bertha (8-7, 4.67), who had the highest ERA of the four starters. CL Matt Hoernig (26 SV, 2.88) was good, including RP Marc Pondsip (2-2, 2.35).

Vault 81 took over the Claws' offensive prowess, finishing 1st in runs scored (723), OBP (.357), and WAR (22.1). The Dwellers were also 2nd in home runs (193). Part of that home run success was due to the first five hitters all hitting 20+ home runs: 2B Harry Byrd (.285/25/79), SS End Yamada (.270/21/60), RF Joe Rathmann (.328/23/69/37 SB), CF Stu Gains (.298/28/80), and C Phantom Vargas (.299/21/74).

On the mound, the Dwellers were also up there in the SCA, finishing 4th in runs allowed (598), 4th in Starters ERA (4.07), and 6th in Bullpen ERA (4.98). All three of the top starters had ERAs below 4.00: Exxie Summerset (13-8, 3.92), Scruffy Taguchi (12-13, 3.82), and Ryan Goodpryce (9-5, 3.93). In the bullpen, CL Closecall Jones (25 SV, 3.91) was decent, though SP Ryan Downing (11-11, 4.59) will likely take on that role in the playoffs.

Prediction

We think that Vault 81 is a little more nervous that University Point claimed the 6th spot (an extra-game win) over FHE, but we also think that they should not be. The Dwellers had the better season, and, outside Cocoa, they have the more talented team. In the end, we have the feeling this one will be tight, but we will favor the higher seed. Vault 81 2, University Point 1

SCA Wildcard Round: #5 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (69-61) vs #4 Oberland T-51s (70-60)

Season Series: Jamaica Plain 3, Oberland 1

July 22-23 @JP: JP 9-7, Obe 1-2
August 31-September 1 @Obe: JP 14-3, JP 8-6

Analysis

When the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and Oberland T-51s met for the final two games of the 2312 regular season, the Red Rockets were in desperate need for wins, while the T-51s were just trying to hold on to the #3 seed. For the Rockets, getting swept would probably end up with them on the outside looking in at the end of the regular season. Instead, Jamaica Plain took both games in Oberland, securing their spot as the 5th seed, while University Point and FHE had to battle on one extra day of the regular season to claim the 6th spot. As a result of getting swept, the T-51s dropped to the 4-seed.

While these two teams have made the playoffs a lot, especially in recent seasons, they have a collective zero championships and two Sole Survivor Series appearances in the CBO. The T-51s did win the second Sole Survivor Series, but that one no longer counts in the history of the CBO. We, however, will remember that both The Slog and Oberland have a championship in their history. For the Rockets, this is their 10th playoff trip, and they are still seeking their first Sole Survivor Series appearance.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1729974494

Jamaica Plain enters the playoffs statistically as being in the middle of the SCA pack. On offense, the Rockets were 6th in runs scored (666) but 1st in home runs (195). They need to hit homers to win. Luckily, they had guys to do just that, with LF Ken Debate (.292/32/93), rookie SS Brandon Larsonist (.229/25/46), and 3B Tre' Morgueman (.260/23/80). Rookie RF Boryslaw Skiba (.276/19/45) put up impressive numbers in just 74 games played.

The Red Rockets were also 6th in runs allowed (621), including finishing 3rd in Starters ERA (3.80) and 8th in Bullpen ERA (5.10). The top two starters are tough in Derek Green (10-6, 3.41) and Chris Deathclaw (13-8, 3.28). CL Mel Stud Quijas (37 SV, 4.05) was OK with the best results coming from RPs Herbie Popnecker (3-1, 2.81) and T-Bone Heagy (4-4, 2.94).

Oberland won despite their statistics, finishing tied for 7th in runs scored (662). Their best offensive stats were in average (.271) and stolen bases (141), both 3rd in the SCA. Veteran C Racky Westheim (.359/6/64) was part of that high average, while veterans CF Earthbound Bussey (.252/11/44/42 SB) and Good Don Duck (.285/13/69/33 SB) helped the steals cause. They are 5th and 10th all-time in stolen bases. Power was not the T-51s' game with 1B Lannie Tykeson (.328/17/83) leading the team in homers.

The T-51s were not very good in pitching, finishing 10th in runs allowed (665), including 11th in Starters ERA (4.87) and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (4.62). None of their starters finished with a sub-4.00 ERA, with Ahsoka Tano (10-11, 4.07) and long-time Rocket, Chris Teddybear (9-6, 4.06). Both two-way stars, Zaire Inquisitor (15-10, 4.65) and Tykeson (5-12, 6.02) will be in the bullpen for the T-51s. They are without regular CL Aaron Geneva (8 SV, 2.25) for the playoffs, as they were for most of the season. William Butcherman (26 SV, 2.54) did a decent job taking on the closer role in Geneva's absence.

Prediction

We do not understand how the T-51s struggled statistically, yet were still in position to claim the #1 overall seed late in the season. Instead, they come in as a longshot to win it all. In this series, however, we think that the T-51s have a little more of what's needed to find success. Since OUR pick to win it all was Oberland, we are sticking with them until they're done. Oberland 2, Jamaica Plain 0

Ha, I suppose without context it wouldn't make sense, but what I was trying to say was either your comments instantly proved incorrect or the disaster for the Witch Hats was about to strike still when we least expect it.

Seconds From Disaster was a show (don't know if it's still ongoing) that was very, very, overly dramatic that took some kind of thing like an airline crash or a car wreck and stretched it into a one hour TV Special. It was a good show, but it really was overly dramatic haha. But really what I was going for was "Huh, seems Witch Hats did just fine (and indeed they made the playoffs) unless we're about to be blindsided".

I don't have time to listen to all of this right now, but you know what would make this great, and would probably be pretty easy assuming you could get the file off the site and into some kind of editing software. Just put over a filter that gave it that snap crackle pop like old time audio from the 50s kind of like the pre-war broadcasts used in the game intros. Would give it that little bit of in-universe oomph instead of making it feel like real life 2024.

I did listen to quite a bit of it though and it's quite good!

Salem took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 0-0, when Jaheim Harper hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Witch Hats in front, 1-0.

Salem manager Nick Caudill commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The Salem Witch Hats will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

NCA #5 The Slog Ghouls vs #4 Bunker Hill 75ers

Game 1: The Slog 6, Bunker Hill 3

Road Win Lifts The Slog to 1-0 Lead in WCR

The The Slog Ghouls powered past the hometown Bunker Hill 75ers, 6-3, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium. The Slog starting pitcher Flirt Perez threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Ghouls now lead the series 1-0.

The Slog used a well-timed hit by Silvam Fourteen to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Ghouls ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said The Slog manager Nate Pugh.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium in Boston.

Game 2: The Slog 6, Bunker Hill 3

Ghouls Win Wildcard Round

Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the North Charles Association Wildcard Round. It turned out quite a bit different.

The Slog Ghouls swept aside the Bunker Hill 75ers to advance to the Association Semifinal Round, winning the final game by a 6-3 score at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium.

The series MVP was second baseman Rowdy Rodney Holt, who hit .444 with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Slog Ghouls will play against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud in the next round. Fort Hagen had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

SCA #6 University Point Deathclaws vs #3 Vault 81 Dwellers

Game 1: Vault 81 2, University Point 1

Wildcard Round Game 1 Victory for Summerset and Vault 81

The Wildcard Round got off to a quiet start, with the host Vault 81 Dwellers taking a low-scoring, 2-1 win over the University Point Deathclaws. Vault 81 right-hander Exxie Summerset was marvelous at CURIE Inc. Field. The Dwellers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Summerset tossed 104 pitches over 7 innings to clinch the win for the Dwellers. The right-hander allowed just 3 hits, while racking up 9 strikeouts in the game.

"We squandered some opportunities," said University Point manager Dirk Steadyhand.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 2: Vault 81 6, University Point 4

Dwellers Cruise to Association Semifinal Round with Sweep

Vault 81 controlled the series from the outset and won it in a 2-0 sweep.

Harry Byrd led the charge offensively for the victors, winning series MVP honors. He posted a .375 batting average, along with a .375 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

"We're not done yet," the MVP said. "There is still a lot to accomplish."

The Vault 81 Dwellers will play against the Goodneighbor Hancocks in the next round. Goodneighbor had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

SCA #5 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets vs #4 Oberland T-51s

Game 1: Jamaica Plain 7, Oberland 5

Morgueman Blasts T-51s, Red Rockets Take Game 1, 7-5

With third baseman Tre' Morgueman leading the charge, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets got a road win over the Oberland T-51s, 7-5, in Game 1 of the Wildcard Round. Morgueman was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs at Oberland Stadium to help Jamaica Plain take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Morgueman contributed in the top of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Jamaica Plain get the win.

"We lost," Oberland manager Proper Lighthouse said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Oberland Stadium in Oberland.

Game 2: Jamaica Plain 7, Oberland 6

Red Rockets Heading to Association Semifinal Round

It's a sweet sweep for the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and they have won the Wildcard Round. The Oberland T-51s were not able to keep pace with the Red Rockets and dropped the series in short order, losing, 7-6, in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Oberland manager Proper Lighthouse.

It's now on to the Association Semifinal Round for Jamaica Plain after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was third baseman Tre' Morgueman, who was named MVP. For the series, Morgueman hit .444 with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets will play against the Roxbury Rad Sox in the next round. Roxbury had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

NCA Association Semifinals Round: #5 The Slog Ghouls (71-59) vs #1 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (82-48)

Season Series: Fort Hagen 2, The Slog 2

June 18-19 @Slog: FtH 4-3, Slog 9-8
August 14-15 @FtH: FtH 12-1, Slog 7-4

Analysis

In the 15-year history of the full CBO, this will mark the first time The Slog and Fort Hagen faces off in the playoffs. In their previous three seasons of making the playoffs, the Ghouls faced Nordhagen Beach twice (both losses), Concord (a Wildcard Round win), and County Crossing (a loss). The Silver Shroud were much more successful in the first seven seasons, making the playoffs each time, including trips to the Sole Survivor Series in 2299, 2300, and 2303, all losses. After a six-year absence, the Shroud finally returned last season, falling to #1 seed Starlight in the Semifinals Round.

This season, thus will see two new teams in the NCA Champions Series since both the Killers and Nordhagen Beach were eliminated. In the regular season, both the Ghouls and Shroud did what they needed to do against each other, making the series 2-2. Only one game was a blowout, the 12-1 Fort Hagen victory on August 14. Otherwise, it was a competitive series and could be fun here. On offense, The Slog's 3B Coup Hertwig (.385) and a combination of RF Danny Faraday (.375), CF Hid Matsumoto (.333) and 2B Nauseous Revere (.333) led their teams in hits. Five different Shroud players each hit one home run, while the Ghouls' C Silvam Fourteen (3) and LF President Washington (2) each had multiple home runs.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1730550225

For Fort Hagen, they finished five games above County Crossing as the CBO's top team, including being the only team to win more than 80 games. Their #1 ranked offense was a big reason why. The Silver Shroud scored 772 runs, 26 better than the Bloodbugs, for tops in the CBO.The Shroud finished 1st in six offensive categories, including average. Leaders include 2B Nauseous Revere (.326/16/87), SS Brennan Colt-45 (.304/19/86), RF Orcin Cardinal (.275/22/70) whom the Shroud acquired from Oberland after he was benched, and LF/SP Admiral Kelm (.294/21/82).

Pitching was not that far behind, finishing 2nd in the NCA in runs allowed (578) and Starters ERA (3.77) and 3rd in Bullpen ERA (4.77). The top two playoff starters were good: La'Ray Kalel (19-6, 3.00) and Sarthis Idren (12-7, 3.72). Kelm (12-7, 5.27) needed lots of run support to finish with the record he did. SP Harley Buechel (11-6, 3.60) was relegated to the bullpen after being acquired from Bunker Hill but could get the start in Kelm's place if needed. CL Nien Nunb (33 SV, 2.75) was good, but starter Elastic Man Haley (14-9, 3.09) is expected to be the playoff closer.

Prediction

We have been impressed but The Slog's efforts so far in the playoffs with the upset victory over the 75ers in the Wildcard Round. Fort Hagen has built itself into a powerhouse, thanks in part to solid work by Scouting Director Ryan DePembroke recognizing star talent and getting them to join the Shroud. The 65-year-old will probably retire in glory if the Shroud go on to win it all. As far as this series is concerned, we see the Silver Shroud dominating. Fort Hagen 3, The Slog 0

NCA Association Semifinals Round: #3 Salem Witch Hats (74-56) vs #2 County Crossing Bloodbugs (77-53)

Season Series: County Crossing 6, Salem 4

April 12-14 @Sal: CC 14-3, Sal 4-3, Sal 11-5
June 8-9 @CC: CC 6-2, Sal 4-3, Sal 11-4
July 23-24 @ Sal: CC 6-4, CC 5-4
August 31-September 1: CC 3-1, CC 5-0

Analysis

The early part of this regular season showed a tale of two halves for both County Crossing and Salem. In the three-game series earlier in the season, the Witch Hats took a 2-1 series victory over the Bugs in both cases. However, in their two-game series in the second half, when the Bloodbugs started to make their run for the Brotherhood League title, County Crossin won all four, concluding the useless final two games of the season when the Bugs had already clinched.

In the two teams' playoff history, they have yet to face off, mostly because this is the Hats' third trip to the playoffs and, before defeating Nordhagen Beach in the Wildcard Round, the Hats had never won a series. For the Bugs, this will mark their 10th playoff appearance with them missing the playoffs the two previous times (2308 and 2311) Salem had been there. County Crossing won the Sole Survivor Series in 2306 and lost it in 2304.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1730550225

The Bloodbugs were only behind Fort Hagen in most offensive categories, finishing 2nd in runs scored (746) but 1st in the NCA in home runs (189). While the Bugs are a powerhouse on offense, they will need to survive without their star RF Babs Rooth (.365/37/107), who strained his abdomen on August 15 and missed the rest of the regular season. He could be back for the Sole Survivor Series should they make it. Some players who are healthy and will be featured include CF Bumpy Redfern (.335/24/98), 1B Zeldolph Violet (.272/17/56), 2B Yoink Yukon (.279/12/40/39 SB), and LF Any Why (.290/16/71).

The pitching was not as good and could be detrimental in the Bloodbugs' pursuit of a title. County Crossing finished 11th in runs allowed (644), including 12th in Starters ERA (4.65) and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (4.57). SP College Luckyman (15-8, 3.41) was the only good starter, while the other two playoff starters--Gavin Eviritts (12-9, 4.43) and Shaak Ti (11-11, 5.14)--struggled at times. CL Wick Prater (32 SV, 2.83) was the best option out of the bullpen with contributions from RP Jupiter Jones (5-3, 2.60).

Prediction

County Crossing did what it took to overcome Salem, which struggled mightily to conclude the season. Talentwise, the Bloodbugs are a better team, but having two starters in Rooth and SS Cy Thompson missing could help to balance this series. In the end, we like the Bugs' offense to overpower the Hats. County Crossing 3, Salem 2

CBO Playoffs 2312

SCA Association Semifinals Round: #5 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (69-61) vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox (73-57)

Season Series: Roxbury 2, Jamaica Plain 2

April 27-28 @Rox: JP 4-1, Rox 6-3
July 4-5 @JP: Rox 3-2, JP 8-3

Analysis

Both Roxbury and Jamaica Plain have been playoff regulars throughout CBO history, but their success rates in the playoffs have been much different. For the Rad Sox, this marks their ninth trip to the playoffs with three championships and five Sole Survivor Series appearances under their belts, including a year ago when they won it all. On the other hand, the Red Rockets are making their 10th playoff appearance, but they are still seeking their first trip to the Sole Survivor Series.

The first time these two teams met in the playoffs was in 2302 when the #2 Rockets defeated the #3 Sox in a 3-2 series win. In 2304, they faced off in the SCA Championship Series with Roxbury taking it in seven games. They met against in the SCACS in 2307 with the Sox winning in six this time. This season will mark the fourth postseason matchup between the two.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1730575989

Roxbury is not a dominant #1 seed like Fort Hagen is in the NCA. On offense, the Rad Sox finished 3rd in the SCA in runs scored (686), their highest-ranking offensive category. The unquestioned leader on offense is 3B Donn Mattingley (.333/27/86). Other top contributors include C Ayag Mour (.313/17/80), LF Ben Pawlak (.289/17/72), and SS Purple Gupta (.281/11/65).

Where the Sox used to dominate, they were just the middle of the pack in pitching in 2312. Roxbury finished 7th in runs allowed (637), 8th in Starters ERA (4.35), and 5th in Bullpen ERA (4.91). Age is a sad affair, especially when you talk about the once-great pitching staff of the Rad Sox. Ace SP Nuke Laloosh (10-9, 4.34) was anything but for the 31-year-old two-time Vim! Pitcher Award winner. The same goes for one of the CBO's best closers ever, Josh Samm, who not only has not been the closer, but finished 8-12 with a 7.17 ERA as a reliever. Two starters who enter the playoffs with sub-4.00 ERAs are Urm Rehfeldt (10-6, 3.94) and Saint O'Fender (5-1, 3.73). CL Professor Harriel (37 SV, 2.50) is the best option from the bullpen, with RP Charred Lee Widemore (6-0, 2.70) assisting.

Prediction

We are pretty sure that the Sox would have to struggle to a championship moreso this season than they did last. With that stated, Jamaica Plain has not shown the ability to get over the hump in the playoffs, and playing a team like the Rad Sox will tax them. In the end, we think Roxbury will eke out a series victory. Roxbury 3, Jamaica Plain 2

SCA Association Semifinals Round: #3 Vault 81 Dwellers (72-58) vs #2 Goodneighbor Hancocks (70-60)

Season Series: Goodneighbor 2, Vault 81 2

June 18-19 @V81: V81 4-2, Good 3-1
August 14-15 @Good: V81 5-4, Good 7-4(10)

Analysis

From 2298-2300, the Goodneighbor Hancocks were a force, including winning the Sole Survivor Series in the first season of the full CBO in 2298. And then they dropped off, finishing .500 in 2301 and never much better than that until this season when they won the Minutemen League in a contentious race. For Vault 81, this is their eighth playoff appearance, including the past two seasons. Unlike the Hancocks, though, the Dwellers have yet to get to the Sole Survivor Series.

These two teams have met in the playoffs before. In 2299, the Hancocks were the #1 seed, playing the #4 Dwellers in the Association Semifinals. There, Goodneighbor won 3-0 before succumbing to Diamond City in the SCACS. That was the only meeting, but both were victims of the Swatters in 2300 in the first season of the five-team playoffs for the SCA.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1730575989

This season, the Hancocks come in as a good team that seems to be at least a year away from being a legitimate contender for the title. Offensively, Goodneighbor has a lot of work to do, finishing 13th in the SCA in runs scored (569). The two best hitters were CF Missile Crews (.311/23/78/32 SB) and RF Jay Gabby (.284/24/76/11 SB). Other contributors include 1B Handel Alone (.310/12/39) and LF Ziggy Stardust (.276/14/52), both of whom make the top half of the order good while the bottom half is unable to produce runs.

Where the hitting has failed, the Goodneighbor pitching starters have been great. The Hancocks finished 1st in runs allowed (520), 1st in Starters ERA (3.33), and 9th in Bullpen ERA (5.11). The playoff starters are Heaven Fontenot (12-12, 3.60), Clubhouse Treelover (13-8, 2.89), and Mister Burns (13-8, 3.03). The bullpen was not as effective, especially at the closer position where the early-season closer, Jaree Ra (23 SV, 4.78), was replaced late-season by Pollox Troye (10 SV, 2.57). RPs Josh Kelley (4-1, 3.50) and Exec Horton (3-5, 3.86) also had some success.

Prediction

While the Hancocks' pitching is awesome, their offense would have to hit out of character to be able to take this series. We suspect that they will be mesmerized by their first trip to the playoffs in 12 seasons with many of their current players being too young to remember that appearance well. The Hancocks will be able to take one at home, but that's it. Vault 81 3, Goodneighbor 1
