It fixes / adds the following compared to version 12.5.44:
- Fixed an issue where the winner of the playoffs was not properly highlighted in the league history
- Fixed an issue which caused the owner to take away (or add) cash to the team budget despite the 'owner controls budget' being turned off
- Fixed rare crash when adding a new manager in online leagues
- When negotiating with free agents, the negotiation screen now displays your previous offer
- Players on waivers can no longer be offered contract extensions
- Players who were just released cannot be signed by their former team
- When setting the scouting / development budget, cash on hand can be used if the projected balance is negative
Assuming it works as intended, but the text is just not a great explanation of it.

It doesn't matter...I agree I wouldn't either, but what if there were a talent bump, and you decided you wanted to? (or the AI for that matter)

BTW-you can stop being a sarcastic horses you now what any time now.

Again, these players are not on waivers...they have cleared waivers. Markus messed this up unintentionally in the process of implementing this change.

What part of the season are you in? After the trading deadline maybe?

Just wondering if the AI players are left in there (the waiver "Transactions Screen" even when they cleared the waiver period) intentionally to facilitate trades after the deadline. In my present season I have seen 2 different trades between 4 AI teams after the trading deadline which involved the players requiring to go through waivers.

The AI players are in fact left in the screen, even after they have cleared waivers (it has always been this way) and the human team players are placed there also by default. I am in May, so it's early in the season. I don't think that has anything to do with it. When Markus made the tweak which prohibited you from offering contract to players on waivers, he overlooked this aspect of the fix. So essentially while fixing one thing, another broke. He probably isn't aware of this. This holds true for ANY player who has cleared waivers. Somehow when you offer the payer a contract, the AI still thinks these players are on waivers, even though they have already cleared.

PSUColonel 12-23-2011 07:33 AM

Is there any way to notify Markus of this?

Markus Heinsohn 12-23-2011 10:09 AM

Will be fixed in OOTP 13. For now, simply remove the player from waivers before offering a contract.

I agree human controlled teams can do that as a temporary fix,........But what about AI teams? Wouldn't AI teams not be able to offer contracts to players who have cleared waivers?

PSUColonel 12-23-2011 11:21 AM

Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I went through and reviewed all players in my league who have been placed on waivers at one time or another, and the AI hasn't re-negotiated with even one of them...which leads me to believe the AI is also very likely encountering the same problem, which of course gives a human player a bit of a leg up. Markus, if there is anyway you could fix this before 13, it would be greatly appreciated.

PSUColonel 12-26-2011 07:58 PM

Can anyone else confirm (or not) weather the AI can offer contracts to players who have been placed on waivers at any point? I think this is a much bigger issue than people realize if the A.I. can't.

He said he'd fix it for the next version, which will never make it out if he is constantly going back to fix things in v12. What more do you want from the man?

I think they need to stop trying to rush out new versions to be on time for opening day or any other arbitrary date, and put whatever amount of time is necessary to fix the basic problems (1) listed here, (2) the 60-day DL issue for minor leaguers issues, (3) the serious issues listed here:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post3239973

and (4) any other issues that are not frills but basic simulation deviations from reality BEFORE they put out a new version. Test it. Make sure these issues which corrupt the synchronization of the game and reality are fixed. Then release. That's what I ask of "the man".

My frustration lies in that the game obviously has so much potential but it's a giant wart that there are deviations from real baseball ignored across multiple years/versions while time is being poured into bells/whistles/frills. Fix the product to mirror real baseball THEN add the frills.

I realize all of this, but this was never an issue until recently due to a change that was made.

I agree with this totally. Why push new versions of OOTP out when known bugs..I.E., issues aren't fixed in the current or previous versions. This is an outstanding sim, yet bugs aren't always fixed before new versions of the game are started. OOTP bugs are still present and should be looked at/and or fixed before working on new versions of the game. Just saying...

What month did v12 release?

If this was in fact broken because of a patch then it should get fixed IN THIS VERSION without the need to wait for another version.

It should get fixed in a patch for this version. But it's a question if this is a big enough bug to spin a new release, and devote resources away from the next version. If it's not a show-stopper, then often it's an acceptable compromise to just fix it in the next release that goes out.

It was, that's my point.

I think this is actually fairly serious. It means AI teams cannot sign/negotiate with any player who was ever placed on waivers during the course of a season.

Cinnamon J. Scudworth 12-27-2011 03:43 PM

So anyway, for the time being, the DIY fix for this would be to manually remove players from the "cleared waivers" list in commish mode, right?
