CWhit, just wanna say, I'd love to catch some of your streams but they're 3am for me.

appreciate it! definitely harder when I'm east coast US and work a 9-5 so the evenings are generally the easiest time outside of weekends. I'm not working again until the 6th so I'll probably be on some afternoon in the next week and a half, hope you can catch it! if not, the VODs are always up and you can always message me on twitch or discord as well!

Mark Prior 102 STU 143 4-7
Zach Wheeler 102 STU 146 3-8
Tom Seaver 102 STU 138 7-5

I just got these 2 and they're also awful, though some say mid week adds take a large penalty.

Roger Clemens 102 STU 146
Bullet Joe Rogan 102 STU 126

The team top of my division has the same Zach Wheeler but theirs is 7-2.

What Park are you using and what is your defense efficiency.

This would also explain why I am bad in tournaments since these are the guys I generally draft.

Note: I don't use 6-man rotations; just wanted to show the guy before Kershaw.

Case in point, my rotation looks a lot more like Hawkwing's and I would *love* to have Bailey's. I've spent more time in DiL than gold and have the 2nd best record in my league this week. As Daves eluded to, pitching can be heavily manipulated by park settings and defense -- defense is usually the cheapest commodity in the game, so if you're FTP and your defense sucks, start there.

Is that team going to compete in perfect at this stage? Obviously not, but set attainable goals based on your current roster and keep moving forward. Or wait until PT 26 and spend money. ;)

I see my 2B Jackson Holliday has a bit bad D, he's 90 when the good teams have the good Mookie Betts.

My CF might also be hurting me, it's the 100 Aaron Judge.

3B is Gunnar Henderson, 115 D. Not likely to get better than that.

I just picked the park closest to where I grew up, which is the White Sox Guaranteed Rate field. Maybe next week I'll try a pitcher friendly park.

This season was a slaughter. Previously, in gold, I got a record of 76-86. Now, slightly improved team is 54-88 so far. There's some killer whales in my league, one is 107-35 in Gold. Yikes.

Definitely a learning year for me. I mean, I didn't even start getting free packs from Twitch until this week.

Those look like studs. I'm working on the 103 Christy Mathewson mission, just need two cards.

Money Spent

Played basic game years ago. Started back Dec 3 this year with Perfect Team. To date spent $128.00 concentrating on LAD theme players but correcting now for better players overall without regard to Chemistry.

Won Rookie League and Stone League first time through. In Iron I have secured postseason spot with 112-32 record so far.

I'm in a league where a team is 127-19 in the central division.....I've played him 6 times so far & I'm 1-5 with the 5 losses being double digits. I play on my active roster 7 perfects, 10 diamonds, 7 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze. I play White Sox cards only. Been locked in Bronze league forever. I currently sit a 91-55. It's fun but good White Sox cards come far & few between. With 3 months left until version26 I'm probably done. Definitely won't spend with only 3 months left, leaving me in Bronze Hell. Just not enough of value when they release with Sox cards. Oh, they released another 40ish or 2 cards last week

My alt team (free to play) was a Cubs theme team. They had a few really good years in Rookie and Stone only. Once they got to Iron, it was game over. They're over 500 now, in Iron, but only after I threw in the towel on "only Cubs" on the roster.

I don't see how theme teams are viable in Bronze and above.

they aren't: you're making sacrifices and not playing the best cards so your ceiling is much lower.

join EVC's theme team group: they are able to put all theme teams into leagues which will probably make your experience more fun

This. Even if you pick a Yankees theme team, there will be better non-Yankees players at most positions. There are some weird theme teams out there (like only players with 3 or 4 in their uniform numbers), but restrictions restrict.

As a play for free user, I'm curious at your highest level that you can maintain.

I created my PT account on November 2nd, 2024, so my first week was the week of November 4th - November 10th (in my 9th week of PT), and I have spent a total of $562.90.

I did not spend it all at once, I got PP when they were discounted as well. Is it alot of money? Yes. But also, it is my disposable income. My bills are paid, and I am still employed, my retirement and savings accounts are funded, so I see no problem with me spending.

I am currently in Diamond .353 and in first in my division. Hoping to make the playoffs for the second week in a row. It's my third week in Diamond.

I do not plan on playing PT26 right from the get-go. I plan on continuing PT25 for a while and maybe doing PT26 again in late October early November.

This is my first season back playing PT since like when it first came out, so I did (and still do) have alot to learn about PT. I did not play tournaments at all, wasn't really a fan of them. If I do end up playing PT26 from the off, I may just see how many PP I can collect with Perfect Drafts as I feel you dont need to have the meta cards in order to be competitive in those tournaments. Of course, I'll still put my best cards on my roster, I just won't be spending to try and improve my team.

All-in-all as long as what you are doing is within the bounds of the game, I don't care how you play PT. All the more power, and respect, to the FtP players who are in the upper echelons of PT, as I would not have the patience nor the drive to do a FtP team.

But I average getting 10 drops per day, every day.

I'm in Diamond, but about to go back down to Gold.

If you don't get any drops, it's going to be a slog.

I'm free to play other than buying the OOTP GO app (not sure if that counts) and started from the first week. I've been in diamond all year (relegated once during a theme week) and have been in PeL I think for around 6 total weeks so far (made the playoffs once). I've been in PeL more frequently as the year has gone on, because it took quite a lot of time to build up momentum and a bank.

During the TE2 cycle I was really successful doing diamond and wildcard dailies, and then in the TE3 cycle I finally broke through and won 4-5 weekly tournaments, mostly diamond focused. I haven't been very competitive in tournies during the most recent cycle as I've been more focused on league due to being in PeL or close to it.

During PTCS Saturdays you can get over 30 drops. The holidays provided more as well.

FTP, have almost a million PP accumulated through collection missions, but I didn't win a league this year (normally I win once or twice) and haven't gotten past gold. I enjoy the grind and trying to win early with silvers and golds. With the addition of 101+ players now, does it even make sense to spend $$$ early only to have those cards be severely devalued in a few months?

it does, because the investments you make are more important than the actual cards. you spend early, you sell a ton of live dupes for a ton, you get advantage in the missions...this game is a resource game more than it is a baseball strategy game, so having the resources early allow you to invest for late game. this is how i've been very good the last few cycles.

the issue I'm noticing is that with so many missions tied to 100+ cards which are already massively difficult to acquire even if you have the money it's a lot of sitting around and waiting for cards to turn up that may take weeks to show up, certainly in any sustained matter

tying the collections missions to such ridiculous cards and making them so hard to pull (how many Bob Uekers will I pull before I get a black back and it ISN'T a live card or a "mere" 101)

if you're gonna make everything about acquiring several 103 cards give us a damn chance please

This is a feature and not a bug, as are the missions requiring tournament rewards for completion. Look at the Mission Week Koufax mission. To complete it, you need three Diamond tournament cards at a cost of somewhere around 200,000. Even if you're scoring Diamond choice packs from tournaments, you probably won't have three of those particular cards and will have to buy something. That might have been reasonable when it launched, but you can now buy Sandy in the card shop for less than the cost of one of those cards.

One way they could fix it is to have previous tournament rewards become available in packs once a new tournament batch is released; but again, it's a feature and not a bug, even if it means silliness like the topper costing far less than the underlying mission.

Orcin 02-05-2025 08:31 AM

It's not how much you spend; it's how you spend it.
