BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 December 2315

The December 1 Super Post

CBA Analysis

We have now completed the first full month of the season, with Southie play9ing the most games (15) and Cambridge with the fewest games played (8). That means we will have a lot of basketball to play once the calendar turns to 2315 in a month.

Conference leaders are Medford (9-4) in the North and Boston (10-3) in the South. The Irish are trailed by Salem, Cambridge, and Con-Lex. The Bugles are trailed by Airport, Quincy, and Southie. The top two teams in each conference make the playoffs.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1743555871

Medford's PG Junji Christie has been on fire this season, averaging double figures in points per game (30.0) and assists (10.1). Those 30.0 points per game trails only Quincy's Reggie Pacer (35.1) and the 10.1 assists trail only Southie's Vee Tsankov (10.9).

The Bugles have six players averaging double figures in points per game, but the leader is C Tre Davis. Davis is averaging 28.0 points (4th), 13.3 rebounds (2nd), and 2.3 blocks per game (2.3).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1743555871

As mentioned above as the CBA's top scorer, the Ironclads' Pacer was named Player of the Month. Sniper Armstrong, Cambridge's #1 overall pick in the 2314 Draft, was named Rookie of the Month.

The NEBA is just getting under way, so there is nothing to report at the time. Teams have played one or two games, so we will cover them more in January.

CBO News

The 2314 offseason has not been particularly active thus far. One incident that is on the serious side happened mid-November when a group of FHE players traveling together were attacked. Ori Gun, Jeremiah Frogbull, Lawdog Whipple, and Sluggo Pyne were involved in an incident involving a queen mirelurk along the Atlantic coast. Frogbull was the most serious injured, supposedly currently fighting for his life at a clinic in Sandwich.

In other news around the CBO, the CYL has been trying out pitching training, considering working on upping the productivity of pitchers coming out of the CYL. According to one unnamed coach in the league, "Pitching is priority. We don't see much good pitching at this level, but we need to."

It is most certainly not in the best of health but chugging along. I had a damn good reason for being away for a week, though. I completed my dissertation. Next week, I defend, and then I finally reach my goal of being Dr. StLee. :D

The January 1 Super Post

CBA Analysis

The new year is here, and the CBA's second season is now in full swing. We are now about one-third of the way through the 2314-2315 season, and there is one team that is a rung above the other seven teams. That team is the one with the Boston namesake, the Bugles (19-6).

In the Northern Commonwealth, Medford (14-10) and Salem (15-12) are battling for 1st place, while Cambridge is two back (10-10) and Con-Lex (9-16) trails by 5.5. In the Southern Commonwealth, Airport is four back of the Bugles at 14-9, with Quincy (8-14) and Southie (7-19) are both hoping to get back into the wildcard discussion later this season.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1743812914

The players of the month may be repetitive throughout the season. The top player was Boston's C Tre Davis, while Cambridge rookie Sniper Armstrong was the top rookie.

Looking at the League Leaders, Quincy's Reggie Pacer continues to lead the league in scoring average (33.0) with Davis (29.8) catching up to him. Other categorical leaders are Vee Tsankov (10.2 APG), DA Forte (14.0 RPG and 2.7 BPG), and Jeryl Newman (3.2 SPG).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1743812914

In the NEBA, a month plus into the season has teams having played 17 games apiece. Divisional leaders are the Portsmouth Hoops (12-5) in the North, Jamaica Plain Thunderbirds (14-3) in the Downtown, Nuka World Wheelz (16-1) in the West, and a tie at 12-5 between the Brockton Spartans and Sandwich Royals in the South. Topper Robinson of the Wheelz is the early leader in PPG (28.9).

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 February 2315

The February 1 Super Post

CBA Analysis

Now that we have entered February, the 2314-2315 CBA season has begun to get interesting, including the former best team, Boston, best no more. Let's break down what has changed in January.

In the NCC, it is a bunched affair with Medford (22-15) on top, followed closely by Cambridge (19-15) and Salem (20-17). Con-Lex (12-24) looks to be the last place team this season. The Tigers have been the hottest team of late, winning their last five, while the Irish has been the best in their last 10 at 7-3.

In the SCC, the defending champions, the Airport Aviators (23-12), are now on a six-game winning streak, vaulting them past the Bugles (23-14), which is on a three-game losing streak. With a 4-6 mark in their last 10, Boston has also almost doubled their losses in the past couple of weeks. Quincy (16-22) and Southie (11-27) may be playing for draft position.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744417662

Should we just repeat this paragraph all season? Why not? The players of the month may be repetitive throughout the season. The top player was Boston's C Tre Davis, while Cambridge rookie Sniper Armstrong was the top rookie.

Looking at the League Leaders, Quincy's Reggie Pacer continues to lead the league in scoring average (33.4) trailed by Davis (30.8). Other categorical leaders are Junji Christie of Medford (10.2 APG), DA Forte of Airport (13.8 RPG and 2.4 BPG), and Jeryl Newman of Cambridge (3.0 SPG).

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744417662

In the NEBA, there is a definitive talent gap with some teams way more dominant than others. Divisional leaders are Concord (21-11) in the North, Jamaica Plain (27-5) in the Downtown, Nuka World (29-3) in the West, and Brockton (24-9) in the South.

Both the North and South divisions are currently competitive with four 20-game winners per division. In the North, Portland and Portsmouth both trail the Colonials by a half-game, while Dover trails by 1.5. In the South, Plymouth trails the Spartans by a half-game, followed by Dartmouth and Sandwich. The New Britain Coyotes in the West are the only other team in the NEBA with 20+ wins.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744417662
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744417669

Current league leaders are JRun Scrapper of Sandwich (28.3 PPG), Steady Scott Marks of Jamaica Plain (13.1 APG), Magnum McKie of Plymouth (15.0 RPG), Marque Hughes of New Britain (3.0 BPG), and Will Clark of the Royals (2.0 SPG).

CBO Analysis

It is baseball time, folks! Later this month, the Nuka Cup Tournament begins on February 27 with 24 of the 28 teams trying to play their way into the double-elimination tournament with those games starting on March 3.

In the meantime, the CCBL and CYL will see their groups of freshmen entering the fray trying to earn their way into the CBO draft within the next few seasons. All new teams to the both CCBL and CYL will also begin competing next month for their place in the championship hunt.

Ban the pink goo? The Sunshine Tidings franchise has noted an interesting side effect of the pink goo, also the namesake of their MML team in Suffolk County. The Chemists have reengineered the pre-War pink goo found in the Suffolk County Charter School, eliminating the pink-tinged side effect and instead showing increased abilities to improve performance. Since the CBO has banned all chems except for life-saving matters, the question is if Sunshine Tidings has a sudden competitive advantage. While they could use the boost, that boost would have to be available to everyone. Sunshine Tidings has been upfront about the usage, so we will see if there is any final decisions by the front office.

Passenger vertibirds in the works. Recent developments at ArcJet Systems has made passenger vertibirds a reality. We said that there would need to be developments in travel for the future expansion of the CBO. This may be it. A spokesperson for ArcJet Systems has stated that they are able to reduce crash rates and would like to get that number below 1% before they begin trial runs.

CBO Draft - Revisiting 2309

There are a lot of trades in the CBO. We wanted to look at the 1st Round of the 2309 CBO draft, the first that involved 28 teams. In the 28 players taken in the 2309 draft, only SIX played any time at all with their CBO-drafted team. While several more players have played in the CBO, including one of the best CBO players in C Red Jay Jones of Sunshine Tidings, very few players come up with their original teams. Let's look at the entire 1st Round. The second line includes picks with their 2314 location, most prominent level (most games played unless 10 or more games started/RP appeared in the CBO), and 2314 stats

CBA Analysis

We have reached the halfway point in the season, including the All-Star Game. With all teams now having played between 44 and 49 games in the 2314-2315 season, we now have a better lock on which teams are contenders and which are not.

In the NCC, it is a three-team race. Salem (26-20) leads over Medford (26-21) and Cambridge (24-20) with Con-Lex (16-31) 10.5 games behind. In the SCC, Airport (31-15) has a slight lead over Boston (30-18) with Quincy (20-27) and Southie (14-35) falling further behind. Both conference leaders met in the finals last season.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744751660

Want to guess who won the Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month? A surprise? NEVER! Tre Davis and Sniper Armstrong. We will make a big deal if there is a month where one of those two is not the winner. The leaderboards are the same players, so, you know. Blah, blah, blah. This league is not dynamic and surprising like the CBO. That is a fact.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744751660

The CBO All-Star Game ended in a thrilling 175-171 advantage for the NCC. Junjie Christie of Medford was named the MVP with a line of 39 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. Quincy's Reggie Pacer led the SCC in scoring with 31. In the contests, Boston's Release Progin topped Brandon Perine of Cambridge with a score of 72-65 in the Slam Dunk Contest, and Rudy Pebbles of the Ironclads scored 20 points to top Medford's Eric Potter (13) and Con-Lex's Erik Arline (10) to win the Three-Point Contest.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744751660

In the NEBA, only one division is tight and only one other division has a team with a reasonable chance to catch the leader. In the Downtown Division, Jamaica Plain (39-7) leads by 15, and in the West, Nuka World (40-6) leads by 12.5, so neither the Thunderbirds nor Wheelz are getting caught.

In the North, Concord (32-14) leads Portland (31-15) by a game and Portsmouth by 1.5. Plymouth (36-10) has a 4.5-game lead in the South over Brockton (32-15).

Nuka Cup Tournament

The Play-in Round of the 2315 Nuka Cup Tournament is now complete, and 12 teams now move on to the 16-team double-elimination tournament.

The Slog Regional
#2 Diamond City 2, #7 Nahant 1
#3 Salem 3, #6 Jamaica Plain 0
#4 University Point 2, #5 Easy Town 1

This regional was one of two "boring" rounds with all three higher seeds taking the series. University Point and Easy Town had three relatively low-scoring games in their series, with the Deathclaws taking the series in Game 3 with a 3-1 victory.

Next Round Matchups: #1 The Slog vs #4 University Point; #2 Diamond City vs #3 Salem

Vault 81 Regional
#2 Lexington 2, #7 Spectacle Island 1
#6 Malden 2, #3 Oberland 1
#4 Cambridge 2, #5 Egret 1

Nothing was a bigger statement in exclamation points than the first two games of the Cambridge-Egret matchup. In Game 1, the Coursers' Hrye Caje used 114 pitches (!!!) to complete a three-walk, eight-strikeout no-hitter against the Ninjas in a 6-0 victory. Game 2 was not much better for Egret hitting when Scooter Yaghmour and Monte Ward combined to pitch a one-hit shutout as Cambridge clinched the series, 1-0.

Next Round Matchups: #1 Vault 81 vs #6 Malden; #2 Lexington vs #4 Cambridge

Quincy Regional
#2 Bunker Hill 2, #7 Roxbury 1
#3 Atom 2, #6 County Crossing 1
#4 Starlight 3, #5 Southie 0

The other "boring" regional, all three higher seeds advanced. The 75ers had the toughest time, winning Game 3, 2-1, over the Rad Sox to clinch the series. Pokey Chatman allowed just one earned run in 7.0 innings to earn the victory over Lucas Frost, who went the complete 8.0 innings in the loss.

Next Round Matchups: #1 Quincy vs #4 Starlight; #2 Bunker Hill vs #3 Atom

Fort Hagen Regional
#2 FHE 2, #7 Sunshine Tidings 1
#6 Goodneighbor 2, #3 Concord 1
#5 Nordhagen Beach 2, #4 Glowing Sea 1

If The Slog and Quincy were "boring," this regional was the "fun" one with two lower seeds winning their matchups. While the Party Boys lost Game 3 in 19 innings (!!), they easily took the first two games, 10-3 and 6-0.

Next Round Matchups: #1 Fort Hagen vs #6 Goodneighbor; #2 FHE vs #5 Nordhagen Beach

CCBL Freshmen to Watch

With the new class of recruits entering their schools for the beginning of the year, we want to look at the five freshmen we want to watch in 2315. These are all players both expected to make significant contributions to their schools this season and look to be potential high picks when they declare for the CBO draft.

1. SP Casan Evans, Assumption - With five pitches in his arsenal, Evans may already be CBO-ready as a 17-year-old out of Killingly, CT. Scouts are already in love with his deceptive changeup. This may sound silly, but scouts are already attaching names like Beachboy Nut and Nuke Laloosh to Evans.

2. LF Two Face Hale, Revere College - Hale may have all the tools necessary to have a high contact-power potential, with the batter's eye that gives him multiple advantages at the plate. While not the best defender, he should be efficient enough to play the corner in the outfield and not get overwhelmed there. He has decent range but a weak arm for the outfield.

3. CF Sandy Slinky, Endicott College - Slinky will start out listed as a CF because of his speed and range, but he needs to be better at taking the right angle and making tough catches to stay there. What coaches and scouts do not doubt is his ability to get on base and then nab bases and take extra bases when on. He is also strong for his size and will pop his fair share of balls out of the park.

4. 3B Kicks Stannard, Commonwealth - Stannard is listed as a 3B on a talented team but can play any of the infield positions. In time, he may stick at 3B because of a strong arm, but he could also be an effective SS or 2B due to his range. He may actually be best in the middle since he is a great contact hitter but lacks pop on power hitting.

5. CF Derek Cureall, Winthrop College - What we would define as pure potential talent, Cureall already has shown a knack for making contact. While not a power hitter, per se, he should see his numbers around 10-20 at this level and probably similar at the next level, too. He has great range in the outfield and a reliable glove. While not seen yet as a steal king, the right coaching could make him the ideal leadoff hitter at the next level.

CYL Freshmen to Watch

In addition to the new freshmen at the collegiate level, the Commonwealth Youth League has a ton of talent that has entered at 13 or 14 years old. Here are five we will watch with a special note that the CYL thinks there is a heavier load of pitching talent than there has been in a while. We have three on our list below.

1. SP Eagle Eye Hayes, Marblehead - Possessing great movement in his pitches, the lefty looks to be a nightmare for LHBs. His curve and cutter are both pitches batters must anticipate with the expectation that batters will poke a lot of weak grounders to the infielders.

2. SP Shotty Kawolski, Boxford - The baby of the Sheng Kawolski-Nat Wright-Kawolski sons, Shotty is no shorty as a 6'4" 13-year-old. He has six pitches in reserve, but Kawolski's go-to pitch is his splitter. He has decent movement on his pitches, which also makes him hard to hit.

3. SP Rhubarb Coombs, Glocester - Coombs can look sneaky with his 93 MPH fastballs, only because he has effective changeups and knuckle curves to throw batters off-balance. Coombs is a "stuff" pitcher who will often fool batters into swinging over the top and hitting hard ground balls right at the infield.

4. 1B Worm Sanders, North Charles Bank - Our lone position player in the top five, Sanders is built like a marble statue and swings the bat like one, too. He may have some average issues early on, but we expect this annelid to knock a lot of balls out of the park. Scouts think he could challenge Sluggo Luge's 127 career homers in the CYL.

5. LF Cam Hall, Lynn Pier - Hall appears that he could be a monster at the plate with the ability to compete already for the SLG title with his driving power. He has a lower launch angle, which could limit his homers, but he tears into the ball, putting many on a line right off the fence. He can also hit to all fields, making it difficult to defend him. Hall still has some work to do on defense, but he has a strong arm that could eventually make him a high lineup RF.

Nuka Cup Tournament

Rounds 1 and 2 of the Nuka Tournament are now complete with a few surprising exits so far and lots of excitement about what the 2315 season may bring. This coming week, we will have Round 3 of the Loser Bracket teams facing off and then the Regional Finals over the course of four days with the Winners Bracket teams having a 1-0 advantage to start.

The Slog Regional
#4 University Point 2, #1 The Slog 1
#3 Salem 2, #2 Diamond City 1

Salem 2, University Point 1
Diamond City 2, The Slog 1 - The Slog eliminated

We called this regional boring, but it has been anything but with the Witch Hats the lone undefeated team in series results. The home team Ghouls are now out, leaving the visitors in town and willing to watch more baseball.

Vault 81 Regional
#6 Malden 2, #1 Vault 81 1
#2 Lexington 3, #4 Cambridge 0

Lexington 3, Malden 0
Vault 81 2, Cambridge 1 - Cambridge eliminated

Malden surprised the host Dwellers in the first round before falling to the machine that has been the Synths so far. Hah! Lexington has not lost yet at the Vault, but we would love to see them face the home team.

Quincy Regional
#4 Starlight 2, #1 Quincy 1
#3 Atom 2, #2 Bunker Hill 1

Atom 3, Starlight 0
Bunker Hill 2, Quincy 1 - Quincy eliminated

There is a pattern here. Both "boring" regionals saw their hosts as the first team eliminated. We feel as though Atom is always in the mix in the Nuka Tournament. Spoiler: they are not. Unless you count 2303 and 2304, of course.

Fort Hagen Regional
#1 Fort Hagen 3, #6 Goodneighbor 0
#5 Nordhagen Beach 3, #2 FHE 0

Nordhagen Beach 2, Fort Hagen 1
Goodneighbor 2, FHE 1 - FHE eliminated

The Silver Shroud were the only host team to actually win their first-round series, and they did it with a sweep. Of course, the Party Boys also swept #2 FHE and then outpaced the Shroud to move into the Winner's Bracket.

CCBL - Sophomore Spotlight

This week, let's take a look at sophomores worth watching. Again, we have selected a combination of good now and top prospects for the CBO Draft, perhaps in 2316.

1. 2B Cool Papa Cornwell, Mass Maritime - Cornwell burst onto the college scene in 2314, hitting .400 and stealing 30 bases for the Buccaneers. Scouts believe he has the chance to be a .400 hitter at the next level, too, making him one of the top prospects as a leadoff hitter. He is also a talented infielder with his position in the future being either of the middle spots. As a 2B, he will be winning defensive awards, though, so that may be his spot.

2. 2B Bastian Gonatas, Boston College - The Eagles' 2B also hit over .400, going .404 with 14 home runs and 34 stolen bases. While not presently as talented as Cornwell overall, Gonatas will see his name called in the 1st Round if he continues this pace.

3. 3B Vacuum Sandoval, Hartford - The man with a vacuum for a glove, the Hawks play him at 3B but he could also play the infield. Sandoval also has high power potential that makes him a hot commodity, though he did not fully show off that power in 2314 with just 16 home runs.

4. LF DJ Shark, Bridgeport - Shark hit .374/12/40 and added 12 SB for the Purple Knights as a freshman. Shark expects to add more muscle and eventually more pop to put himself as a likely Top 10 pick when he declares. He is also a good corner OF, making scouts boost his prospects at the next level.

5. SP Christian Hill, Rhode Island - Hill did not have outstanding stats, but his 5-5, 3.89 mark in 15 starts was a good start. The power-throwing sidearmer has four pitches with his 4-seamer and cutter being his favorite two. While he gave up 10 homers as a freshman, scouts see his potential as being able to keep the ball in the park.

CYL - Sophomore Spotlight

1. SP Talley O'Reilly, Rockport - O'Reilly went 6-3 with a 3.08 ERA as a freshman with the Seafarers. Scouts are expecting him to make a leap in 2315 and be one of the CYL's best pitchers. He can throw arounf 95 MPH regularly and has five pitches that he is almost equally comfortable throwing with his fastball and sinker the two best in his arsenal.

2. SS Alvin Dark, Sandwich - Dark put up a .354/10/28 mark with the Screamers in his freshman season. Scouts see him developing into a tools hitter and a decent enough defensive shortstop to warrant an eventual high pick in the draft.

3. 1B Daniel Bowler, Lewiston - Bowler will show off his stuff in his first year of the CYL after playing last season in the independent Maine leagues. As one of the players coming into the league, scouts think he will be a great all-around hitter with of course great pop with his bat.

4. 1B King Fish Davenport, South Charles Bank - The Moonies first bagger hit 20 homers in his freshman campaign, showing the raw power he has on both sides of the plate. Scouts think he can be an elite hitter at the next level and already love the leadership he shows on the ballfield.

5. RF Shalvey O'Doherty, Haverhill - O'Doherty has all the skills needed to be successful at the next level. If he develops as expected, the Detectives right fielder should be able to bat well over .300 and hit 30 homers. While not the best outfielder, he will not be one that a coach hesitates to place out there.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

11 March 2315

CCBL Preview

The 2315 Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League season, its 8th, is underway today with 54 colleges and universities competing for a title. Ten new schools--American International (which uses the baseball name of American Intl), Franklin Pierce, Naval War College, New Hampshire State (NHSU), Nichols College, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Southern New Hampshire (SNHU), Vermont, and Vermont Tech--will begin competing in 2315 to try to join the immortals.

Last season's College Series ended with the Commonwealth University Terriers topping the Boston College Eagles, 3 games to 1, in a battle of Boston's, the BCAC's, and the CCBL's two best teams record-wise. Both teams were seeking their first title in the seven-year history of collegiate baseball.

This season, there are expectations of some parity in the league. Sixteen teams qualify for the postseason with conference winners in teh BCAC, MassCon, NoComm, SoComm, and Atlantic Sound conferences getting the top five seeds, followed by 11 wildcard qualifiers from those five conferences and the independents.

Looking at the predictions, conference winners will be the Revere College Riders (BCAC), Curry College Colonials (MassCon) as the tiebreaker winner in a three-way tie, Acadia College Minks (NoComm), Yale Bulldogs (SoComm), and Mass Maritime Buccaneers (Atlantic Sound). The defending champions and runners-up are expected to be the first two wildcard teams. This is the predicted order of the playoffs:

1. Yale (SoComm) 42-18
2. Revere College (BCAC) 41-19
3. Mass Maritime (Atlantic Sound) 38-22
4. Curry College (MassCon) 37-23
5. Acadia College (NoComm) 33-27
---------------------------------------------
6. CWU (BCAC) 40-20
7. Boston College (BCAC) 38-22
8. Nuka University (MassCon) 37-23
9. Assumption (MassCon) 37-23
10. Hartford (SoComm) 36-24
11. Endicott College (Atlantic Sound) 36-24
12. Mass Atlantic (MassCon) 36-24
13. Holy Cross (MassCon) 35-25
14. CIT (BCAC) 35-25
15. Quincy College (BCAC) 35-25
16. Fairfield (SoComm) 35-25

UConn, also predicted to finish 35-25 is expected to be the first team out. None of the independents are expected to make the playoffs with Sturbridge expected as the top team there with a 33-27 record.

Freshman Holy Cross 1B Jayden Dawson is the pick to be the Top Collegiate Hitter, while Terriers' freshman SP Jaden Newt is the expected Top Collegiate Pitcher award winners. Last season's award winners were Endicott's Terror Scheer and Northeastern's Bullet Barnes, respectively. Scheer is entering his sophomore season and Barnes is entering his junior campaign. Neither is in PAM's Top 10 predicted for this season's top award.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1744927574

The Upperclassmen

Since as a lot of the top prospects leave after their junior seasons, so let's combine the top juniors and seniors for those expected to shine and at the same time may see themselves drafted in the 1st Round in 2315. Please note that these rankings are our own based on scouting reports and not on PAM's predictions for the 2315 season.

1. SP Bullets Barnes, Northeastern - The top collegiate pitcher in 2314, we are not sure why Barnes is not expected to be just as dominant even if the Huskies are not expected to be in the playoffs. Barnes has four still-developing but good pitches: heater, slider, changeup, and sinker. In two seasons with the Huskies, Barnes has compiled a 22-3 record with a 2.27 ERA. If he wins at a similar rate in 2315, that would put him at about 33 career wins, which would rank him third all-time behind just Em Babbage (Harvard)and Frank Heart (Mass Bay).

2. SP Scooter Harcourt, Vermont Tech - One of the newcomers to the CCBL with the Maples joining in 2315, Harcourt is expected to make an immediate impact on the league. While he only has a three-pitch arsenal (fastball, slider, and changeup), he knows how to use all three pitches well and probably could slot into the bottom of a CBO rotation now. Scouts think the 6'5" is elite and expect his name to be called in the 1st Round of the draft.

3. 1B Jag Jouan, Rhode Island - The Rams' junior has yet to find his power, but that does not mean he does not have a great bat. In two seasons with Rhode Island, Jouan has a .403/.510/.645 line with 19 homers and 68 RBI. With exceptional speed and range for a 1B, Jouan is also a probable top defensive prospect and is considered a top prospect.

4. 1B Haystack Black, Revere College - Part of the reason why PAM believes that the Riders have a chance to win it all in 2315, Revere College is stacked with talented upperclassmen, led by Black. In two seasons with Revere College, Black has a .422 career average with 37 home runs and 112 RBI. While scouts love his power possibilities, they also like his eye and think it will guide him to being a success at the next level. He may not be as talented as Jouan as a defensive 1B, but he is very close and could see a more productive CBO career overall.

5. CF Gauntlet Kim, Revere College - Another top junior for the Riders, Kim is trying to change his game. Possessed with a unique combination of speed and power, Kim could be a great #2 or #3 hitter for a team at the next level (he's the #2 hitter for Revere College). He had an interesting 2314 where he saw his average rise by .060 from .277 to .337 but also saw his homers drop from 21 to 12. We expect him to revert back to 2313 form. Kim is also a top outfielder who can play anywhere but could use that super speed to remain in CF.

CYL Preview

Just four days after the regular season start of the collegiate baseball season, the youth are now oiling their gloves and sharpening their cleats in anticipation of the 2315 season. Last season, the Needham Radstorm topped the New Bedford Whales, 2 games to 1, to take the Youth Series.

The CYL has announced that it has also created titles for its various awards to express more interest in the winners:
MVP -> Slugger Supreme
Pitcher of the Year -> Mound Ace
Reliever of the Year -> Shutdown Specialist
Positional Hitter -> Iron Bat
Defense -> Diamond Defender
Manager -> One and True King

This season, the Radstorm are expected to be in the scrum, while the Whales are expected to take a dive to the bottom of the Crispus Attucks Division. Let's take a look at the expected division winners first:

NR Franklin - Needham Radstorm
NR Emerson - Marblehead Mess
NR Fuller - Lexington Minuteboys
NR Revere - Boston Common Baby Bellies
NR DuBois - Rockport Seafarers
NR Longfellow - Far Harbor Dockdwellers
SR Adams - North Providence Phantoms
SR Alcott - Jamaica Plain Treasures
SR Morse - Weymouth Locksmiths
SR Attucks - Eastham Rads
SR Hancock - Old Lyme Lake Monsters
SR Bradberton - Chicopee Galaxy

Assuming that regular season records are indicative of the finals, PAM has Boston Common at 39-11 emerging from the North Region with Jamaica Plain at 38-12 representing the South Region. The Baby Bellies are predicted to have the overall best record, thus the prediciton that they win it all.

Top players are expected to be Needham's 2B Matej Hladsky and New Haven's 2B Headcase Stepniewski for Slugger Supreme in their respective regions. For Mound Ace Award, PAM has predicted Gloucester's Rhubarb Coombs and Old Lyme's WIng Kawolski.

CYL in the 2315 Draft

There are 1120 senior players eligible for the 2315 CBO Draft with a number of juniors who are eligible to declare a year early for teams in the CYL under two years. Those players can declare following the CYL season. Looking at the list of eligible players, here are five we think we will see selected early in 2315:

1. SP Mike Searocker, Lowell - PAM may not think that Searocker is the CBO's best pitcher this year, but the Frags' lefty's only hang up was an elbow injury that shortened his junior season. Coming back from that injury, Searocker has a 13-6 career record with a 3.14 ERA in 27 career starts. Scouts love his curveball and see him as a future ace in the CBO.

2. 2B Cajun Darri, Saugus - The Launchers' 2B came on last season, hitting .404/17/51. Scouts think he will only get better this season. With a .360 career average, 57 home runs, and 161 RBI, Darri is one of the best offensive players in all of the CYL.

3. 3B Tommy Tanks, Woodlawn - If Darri came on, Tanks emerged in 2314, moving his batting average from .299 the previous season to .391 and recovering his power from 10 to 22 home runs. Scouts see his power as limitless, expected to double by the time he reaches his career peak, making him an elite power talent in the 2315 CBO Draft.

4. 2B Arbor Creek, Provincetown - Creek saw his production drop in 2314, but he is expecting to rebound. Despite those "struggles," Creek still hit .295 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI for the Land Pirates. He is a good all-around player, but scouts have noticed he will not speak up when he needs to make changes or struggles with the coaches' directions. Coach Victor Mettlesome saw his team struggle last season and would hope that Creek can help turn things around.

5. LF Just Jeff Efferson, Stoneham - Efferson popped out an amazing .430 average in 2314 with 18 homers and 42 RBI for the Commandos. He is a rare player that can play pretty much anywhere but pitcher and catcher (and he could probably play those positions, too). Scouts think his speed is going to keep him in the outfield and he may eventually play RF at the next level because of his strong arm and power.

Here are five more to watch. Let's see if these names show up on our draft previews later this season.

6. 1B O'Day Gabby, Boston Harbor
7. LF Ice Cream Horton, Wellfleet
8. 2B Ksawery Necel, Boston Common
9. C Joorden Danyaals, Wellfleet
10. RF Justin Stedd, Attleboro

Nuka Cup Tournament

We are down to the Final Four of the 2315 Nuka Cup Tournament with a lot of exciting action and an interesting group. Spoiler: no regional hosts are in the semifinals. What we do have is three hopeful teams from the North Charles Association and a recent CBO champion from the South Charles Association.

The Slog Regional
Diamond City 2, University Point 1 - University Point eliminated

Salem 3, Diamond City 2 - Salem wins regional

Top 25 Poll

CCBL Players of the Month

Hitter - Jag Jouan has a lot going for him. The Rhode Island first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League has just picked him as its top hitter for March.

In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .459 with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Pitcher - The hottest hurler in the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League last month was Booker Wood of the Harvard Crimson. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the CCBL Pitcher of the Month.

In March, Wood starred with an impressive 4-0 record. In 5 starts he gave up 30 base hits and struck out 31 in 38 innings with a 1.42 ERA.

CYL Analysis

In the CYL, a lot of divisions are tied or close at a still-early point in the season. Here are the teams that would win the divisions through current tiebreakers:

Franklin - Needham (5-way tie with Wellesley, Leominster, Worcester, and Littleton)
Emerson - Georgetown (1 game up on Salem)
Fuller - Saugus (0.5 games up on Woburn)
Revere - Boston Common (1.5 games up on Circle)

CYL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - Newburyport Cubs fans believe they've got a talented young star in Casper Dahlen.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in March, as he hit .545 with 13 home runs, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

The end result was the catcher being named the North Region Batter of the Month.

SR Hitter - Fenwick Eagle put together a good March to earn the South Region Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Coventry officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Quads left fielder posted a .512 batting average with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

NR Pitcher - Grobe Axelrod really tore up the North Region this past month. He went 4-1 in March and won the Pitcher of the Month award.

In 5 starts he struck out 42 in 34.1 innings with a 2.10 ERA.

SR Pitcher - The South Region scribes have announced March's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Antoine Delamothe of Wareham. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 4-0 mark to prove it.

The Wareham star made 4 starts with a 1.08 ERA and surrendered 17 hits in 33.1 innings. He struck out 38 and walked 10.

CBA News

We are pushing back the CBA update to the end of the season on April 14 since all standings and league leaders have held serve. Be on the lookout for the final analysis and playoff preview.

CBO Preview

PAM is back! That means it is opening day of what we anticipate to be a great season with no clear favorite on our end. PAM may have different opinions, but we will break down what those are.

It is also noted that PAM has tried to calculate the "raised mound" as it has been introduced, something Commissioner Nate Howard has instituted to try to give balance to the hitter-pitcher dynamic. Vice Commissioner Jimmy LaRue is the supposed mastermind behind the new rule, and we will all wait to see what the 2315 season brings us in terms of results. We can see that PAM has predicted runs scored to be way down, and the top home run hitter in the CBO is predicted to have 30. Enough of that, though. What people really care about is which team will be on top at the end of the season.

By PAM's predictions, the Brotherhood League will be the tightest race with the defending champions, The Slog Ghouls, predicted to finish tied with Salem. Based on run differential, the Ghouls would clinch the BL. Atop the Institute League, PAM has Lexington not only winning the league but doing so in dominant fashion with a 12-game advantage over second-place Fort Hagen.

Looking at the predictions for playoff rankings, PAM has the following NCA order:

1. Lexington 81-49
2. The Slog 71-59
3. Salem 71-59
4. Fort Hagen 69-61
5. Malden 66-64
6. Cambridge 66-64

In the SCA, there is more of a balance in 2315. The 2315 runners-up, the Quincy Gunners, are the pick to win the Minutemen League with a four-game advantage over both Atom and University Point. Vault 81 is again expected to dominate in the Railroad League with an 11-game league margin and the CBO's top record. Here are the predicted SCA playoff rankings:

1. Vault 81 85-45
2. Quincy 72-58
3. Diamond City 74-56
4. Oberland 70-60
5. Glowing Sea 69-61
6. Atom 68-62

That means PAM has a likely Sole Survivor Series matchup of Lexington versus Vault 81. We guess we will believe it when we see it for the Dwellers, but we will just interpret that as a championship for them in 2315.

Looking at predictions for top hitter in each association, PAM has Easy Town's Eden Babz leading the NCA, followed by contenders Lance Tinter (Malden), Slammin' Sammy Holloway (Nordhagen Beach), Hurr Lee Reyes (Lexington), and Campy Madrid (Lexington). In the SCA, PAM thinks Enigma Montgomery of the Glowing Sea will be the batting title champion. Other contenders are Pockets Wrench (Vault 81), Missile Crews (FHE), Odd Todd Walker (Oberland), and Jay Gabby (Goodneighbor).

The top pitcher prediction in the NCA is Salem's Paul Stains, followed by Flirt Perez (The Slog), Dee Dee Martinson (Lexington), the comeback king Lonely Gale (Easy Town), and Scooter Yaghmour (Cambridge). Heaven Fontenot of Diamond City is the top pick in the SCA, with other top contenders being Aqua Purified (Spectacle Island), Ahsoka Tano (Oberland), Zack Million (Vault 81), and Macho Lopez (Diamond City).

Gale was mentioned because he is returning from a 2312 injury while with Nahant in his premier season as a full-time starter. He was 1-2 with a 1.61 in four starts before he suffered a ligament separation so severe that the Institute got involved to try to repair his arm. He elected not to have a synth-based implant since it would prevent him from being allowed to make a comeback. Instead, Gale has been rehabbing and working with medical staff. He refused to play before being CBO-ready, so here he is, three years later. While scouts are not sold on his ability to be anywhere close to his 2312 form, PAM has given him the benefit of the doubt.

Very much looking forward to this season! I really think the Radscorpions can steal one of the Wild Card spots. Division will be out of reach unless something crazy happens

We'll see! I have simmed the first week of the season, but need to post my CBA playoff preview before completing Week 2 and then the CBO update. I will say that there is one surprising 7-0 team after the first week and two (kind of surprising based on their Nuka Cup Tournament performances) 0-7 teams. Spoiler: none of the three mentioned here are Glowing Sea nor one of their Railroad League opponents.

CBA Analysis

The 2314-2315 season is now complete, and four teams now vie for the right to be champions in the second season of the Commonwealth Basketball Association.

In the North Commonwealth Conference, the Medford Irish (41-31) edged Salem (40-32) and Cambridge (38-34) to take the division title. The Irish and Shadows now face off to see which team represents the North in the CBA Championship. In the SCC, Airport (47-25) repeated as champions with a five-game advantage over Tre Davis and the Bugles (42-30). The Aviators and Boston will now meet in the playoffs.

CBA Playoff Preview

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1745615348

Medford vs Salem

The NCC was again inferior to the SCC in the CBA's second season, but it was the conference that had the most fun competition. Medford flipped the division crown and won the NCC regular season crown. With just a one-game difference, this series should also be exciting.

The Shadows are again led by a tough 1-2 punch of PG JB Letterhead (25.2 PPG, 7.6 APG, 1.3 SPG) and C Licker Sam Arnold (19.0 PPG, 13.1 RPG, 7.4 APG). SF Jamal Pleick led the team with 0.8 BPG, tied the team lead with 1.3 steals per game, and finished second in scoring at 20.0 PPG.

For the Irish, PG Junji Christie (30.1 PPG, 9.5 APG, 1.8 SPG) was the star. PF Eric Potter (16.1 PPG) was the second-best scorer out of six who averaged at least 10.0 PPG. C Jarian JaNian (10.4 RPG, 11.1 PPG) and C Cleveland Brooker (0.8 BPG, 4.9 PPG) also contributed.

While Medford took the regular season crown, the consistency of this league is making us think a repeat of last season's representative in the CBA Championship. Salem 4, Medford 3

Airport vs Boston

Airport again finished with the CBA's best record, surging past Boston, which started the season hot but then leveled off over the course of the season. Luckily for the Bugles, their playoff contention was never in doubt since both Quincy and Southie struggled all season.

Boston has the likely MVP in C Tre Davis (31.2 PPG, 12.6 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.9 BPG, 1.2 SPG), who most feel was robbed last season when the Bugles finished in last place in the SCC. This season, he may turn them into champions. Oh yeah, there are other Bugles. SG Impossible Catchman (15.8 PPG, 5.2 APG) and PG Beau Chatman (13.7 PPG, 5.8 APG) both created and produced points all season. Three other players all averaged double figures in scoring.

The Aviators are guided by their own superstar power of C DA Forte (28.0 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 2.3 BPG). Two other players scored nearly 20 points per game: PF BB Whiteman (18.9 PPG) and SF Fickle Fitzpatrick (17.4 PPG). PG Brick Watson (7.4 APG) was the assists leader.

As good as Davis is, that early-season surge, including a 3-0 regular season series lead over Airport, later turned into a 6-4 disadvantage on the full season series. We feel that the Aviators figured out what to do and will repeat that in a short series. Airport 4, Boston 1.
