November 2296 - News and Notes - November 23-28
Not many action rolls in the rest of November...
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1586093507 Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 23 November 2296 - Shroud Reliever Crab-Bitten Fort Hagen Silver Shroud reliever Jason Niederer joined a group of young Shroud players in touring the the C.I.T. Ruins Refractors’ baseball facilities. While on the way to the C.I.T. Ruins courtyard to see General Atomics Stadium at the Ruins, Niederer happened to run into a mirelurk nest of hatchlings near Charles River. As mirelurks and their hatchlings are prone to do, the hatchlings swarmed Niederer and delivered several bites to his legs. Nearby security was able to exterminate the hatchlings, but Niederer had a few nasty bites all over his legs. He was transported to Kendall Hospital to be treated with meds to help prevent infection. The rest of the team continued their tour after the incident and planned to attend a kegger at College Square that evening. 28 November 2296 – Birthday Party Gets Egret Player in Hot Water Egret Scrappers’ third-round rookie draft pick Mackeron Kulpa was celebrating his birthday with his new teammates at Egret Tours Marina. It was everything a young man could want: booze, gambling, and shenanigans. Everything was going perfectly, that is, until Kulpa’s mother showed up. Apparently, the Kulpa clan decided to relocate to Egret Tours Marina while Kulpa is a member of the team, though he may end up playing for the minor league affiliate, the Poseidon Reservoir Sentry Bots. Mama Kulpa, whose first name we do not know and were too afraid to ask, is a strict one and pulled Kulpa away from his 19th birthday party to be “taught a lesson.” When we inquired with the Egret franchise about Kulpa’s status, bench coach Too Cool Tomlinson said Kulpa would be taking a leave of absence for the rest of the 2996 calendar year to “detoxify, but in my opinion, get henpecked.” In short, Kulpa’s mother has punished him and will not let him see his friends for a month. |
This is awesome. Just read all of this today. Big fan of the Fallout series, and this really is a lot of effort to make a dedicated cross-over.
Teams I'm most the fan of are the Party Boys, Yao Guais, Swatters, Dwellers, and Silver Shroud, though clearly that's too many to really support all at once, so I'll throw my lot in with the Silver Shroud as my primary team. |

Anyway, thanks for joining. I see you are new to OOTP and this forum, so I feel honored you used one of your first posts on responding to this dynasty. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 4 December 2296 – Gunners Scout Develops Terminal Program Quincy Gunners scout Jason Harri may not be the bee’s knees among CBO scouts, but he is a bright mind with a plan. In addition to breaking into the scouting ranks with his advanced understanding of concepts of sabermetrics, Harri has been working on his own terminal program to help the Commonwealth Baseball Organization centralize its scouting reports. Harri is calling the system the Operational Scout Access, or OSA. According to Harri, the OSA will work in conjunction with the Electronic Stadium Amplification Unit (ESAU ) system, allowing the CBO to send out advanced scouting reports and statistics sheets in real-time. Harri said that the OSA will help teams with their limited scouting departments and aid broadcast teams in giving better statistics than just runs and hits and strikeouts. “There are a lot of sabermetric numbers I can input,” Harri told Travis Miles of Diamond City Radio in an interview. “Through the OSA for our team, I can see advanced statistics, splits, individual game logs, spray charts, and player streaks. I can also compare my numbers of how I rate a player compared to how the centralized OSA sees a player. It could help me rethink some of my guesses about which players belong on the Gunners and help all teams in trade negotiations to set trade scores.” CBO Commissioner Nate Howard has been made aware of Harri’s program and has set up a task force to test the program and ensure it can work as expected in the ESAU. Howard said that the OSA would be a “game-changer.” |
More and more I am incorporating OOTP in-game acronyms so that I do not have to edit stories as much. I guess the next step is to accept that each settlement has its own baseball paper, like the Fairline Hill Estates Courier and the Quincy Rag or whatever OOTP is calling them. Or maybe I will eventually umbrella everything under BosCom, I don't know.
I have written a bunch of stories outside of what have been published here so far, but I think I now have the BNN and OSA accounted for. Those can bother me no longer! |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 5 December 2296 – Gatekeeper Displays Bad Leadership The Warwick Mirelurks may not have won the first ever CBO Sole Survivor Series Championship, but it was not due to a lack of leadership. This offseason may be taking a toll on the leadership. First baseman Ron Lobsterclaw has already been called away on a mission that forced him to miss most of the 2296 season. Now, third baseman Tutton Gatekeeper learned the downside of trying to be a leader. While having a team party at a retreat on Spectacle Island, Gatekeeper decided it would be a good idea to show how trustworthy he could be by allowing rookie right fielder Tunafish Walshe to brand him with a hot iron. From the incident, Gatekeeper suffered severe burns to his left buttock where the hot iron was applied. Appropriately, the brand reads, “REAR.” Gatekeeper had to leave the retreat and take a boat to The Castle to receive treatment and try to prevent infection from setting in. If things go OK, he should be ready for the season. 7 December 2296 – Gadz Alive, Rescued Salem Witch Hats third baseman Mike “Gadz” Gadzinski has been missing since early September after his traveling caravan was attacked by raiders. Today, he along with several others were rescued by Brotherhood operatives from a raider slave camp on Plum Island. Gadz had an explosive slave collar that had to be deactivated. He was underfed but otherwise healthy. The Brotherhood transported Gadz and the others rescued slaves to the Boston Airport for treatment and information. All are expected to leave the Brotherhood facilities as soon as they pass medical and psychological tests. One person with knowledge of the situation who wished to remain anonymous stated that Gadz appeared to be upset and angry more so than the other captives rescued. At the time of his arrival at Boston Airport, he was not cooperative with the medical staff there. 9 December 2296 – No Go Fo’ No Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers Craig No is no yes man. No, he is a no man. And this time, No said no to the wrong Flo, which left No with no consciousness for quite some time and a hospital trip to Milton General Hospital. In an argument with another person, identified as Gertrude Hertenpeepel, No said no one time too many. Witnesses at the Library, the name of the club in the Shaw HS building, overheard Hertenpeepel offering No relationships of the horizontal nature. No was in no way attracted to Hertenpeepel, which angered Hertenpeepel towards violence. One body slam followed by a suplex later, and No was no better for the wear. Doctors have said that No had blood collecting in his brain and needed surgery to prevent the blood from clotting. He will be expected to miss some time. Hertenpeepel hurt three other people trying to subdue her. She eventually tired and was taken away towards The Castle in handcuffs, shackles, and an explosive collar. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 10 December 2296 – Egret Fans Want Name Change With a little bit of nickname envy, the fans of the Egret Scrappers team protested their own facilities at Fallon’s Field at Egret Tours Marina. Just like Kasumi Nakano’s desire to use the Red Rockets team nickname set for the Boston Minor Union, the Egret fans like their BMU team nickname better. “There is nothing fierce or ferocious about the Scrappers,” fan Wrested Development said. “But our other team, the Sentry Bots, could do some damage.” Fans held various signs expressing their displeasure with the team’s nickname. It looks like they want to take the Sentry Bots name from their BMU team, Poseidon Reservoir. Team owner Ron Staples and GM “Wrinkles” Erickson have not responded to our request for comment. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 19 December 2296 – JP Pitcher Not Going Soft Jamaica Plain Red Rockets pitcher Chris Teddybear was the most successful a pitiful pitching staff in 2296. He finished the season 7-10 with a 6.55 ERA. Though he was the second pitcher behind ace Will Rope, Teddybear vowed that he wants to be more than fluff. The pitcher has used the offseason to work out with new pitching coach Lance Okolita every day. Teddybear credits Okolita with showing him new ways to deliver his fastball and vows to up his numbers from 72 strikeouts in 115.1 innings pitched, a low rate of 5.6 strikeouts per nine innings. “I am concentrating not on volume,” Teddybear said, “but being able to deliver the ball in a way where hitters just aren’t ready for it.” Okolita worked some as a traveling coach before joining the CBO this offseason. His philosophy is to show pitchers how to pitch harder and to blow fastballs past hitters. “Chris has shown me two things so far since I joined Jamaica,” Okolita said. “He is willing to work and he has the talent to get better. He’s sharp, and I’m not just talking about the combat knife in his pocket.” Teddybear is considered to be among the leaders of the Red Rockets. New manager Mark Sellsword has said better pitching will go a long way in making the team more successful. “We’re looking to generate runs on offense and keep numbers down on defense,” Sellsword said. “Half of that battle will be getting Will and Chris to strike out a lot more batters per game.” 19 December 2296 – Warwick Minor Leaguer Tries New Diet Warwick Mirelurks pitcher Dave Kovalenko has experienced disappointment so far in his young baseball career. Having gone undrafted in the 2296 Inaugural Draft, Kovalenko was not initially signed by a team after the draft either. Ten days later, he was called out to Warwick Homestead where he got a tryout with the Mirelurks. He was signed but never got off the reserve roster all season. Kovalenko decided that was not good enough. Considered a health freak, Kovalenko tried various regimes and diets throughout the season hoping to gain an edge. Now he thinks he has found that edge. “I got a hold of a few consumables from a seller out of Far Harbor,” Kovalenko said. “It’s a mash up of aster, lure weed, and cave fungus. I dry it out and add it to my meals. I feel like it’s really going to give me a boost in my baseball career.” So far, Kovalenko said he tried a few fad diets and exercise regimes—the Cat-O Diet, the Pale Ale Diet, the Meat Diet, and the County Crossing Fit exercise regime—but nothing made him a better baseball player. “Nobody is doing this new diet. I think I’ll call it the Kova Diet.” We’ll see if the Kova Diet works and if it will then catch on. I will say that smelling the powder he makes reminds me of wet leather and crusty underwear. Smells delicious, or not. 21 December 2296 – Vault 81 Pitcher Injured by Blast Vault 81 Dwellers starter Godfather Hough has suffered minor injuries after an incident that killed his pet brahmin, Puffy Puffy Passie, at the players’ living quarters near the Charles River. It is unclear what exactly caused the explosion, but a team of Brotherhood explosives experts will be dispatched to the area to investigate. The explosion is not considered accidental. Hough will also need to answer questions. According to Hough, “I was sleeping in my bed. I hear an explosion, and the next thing I know is Puffy Puffy Passie’s severed head is in the bed with me. It was unreal.” Asked about his injuries, Hough only said that he had a few schrapnel injuries and a busted nose from the impact of his brahmin’s head smacking him in the face. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 23 December 2296 - County Crossing Trades Heagy, McElveen for Abernathy's Eviritts The County Crossing Bloodbugs and Abernathy Adamantium have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. County Crossing will part with 29-year-old LHP T-Bone Heagy and 19-year-old minor league 2B Shotgun McElveen, while the Adamantium have dealt 21-year-old minor league RHP Gavin Eviritts. "This one took a while to figure out," said County Crossing general manager Mike Pieface with Sugar Bombs crumbs painted around his lips. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs." In 12 games in 2296, Heagy pitched 15.2 innings for a 4.02 ERA and a 0-1 record. He walked eight and struck out 20. Heagy was the Bloodbugs’ 9th-round pick in the Inaugural Draft. McElveen was drafted in the 27th round of the Inaugural Draft but never saw action in 2296. Eviritts was undrafted in the 2296 Inaugural Draft. He later signed with Abernathy and remained with the organization all season. While this trade may seem uneven, Eviritts is thought to be an overlooked prospect who looks like he could develop into a future starter in the CBO. “I don’t think there is any secret that people will look at this trade like we got cheated by a better team,” Pieface said. “However, we hope we saw in Eviritts what we think we saw, a guy who can pitch and be successful.” 24 December 2296 – Atom Cats Pitcher Seeks Versatility Atom Cats 2296 reserve pitcher Jerky DeWitt may not break onto the CBO team with his current pitching abilities. That is why DeWitt has been working with hitting coach Happenin Travelman. DeWitt was working on an approcah to the plate that would help him to hit for a combination of average and extra bases. “I’m 28 right now,” DeWitt said. “If neither the Gunners nor Cats could find work for me as a pitcher, then I need to find work for myself.” DeWitt mentioned that the extra work with the bat has loosened his arm. He feels he has more power to his fastball, but his arm may be best suited for the BMU. Cabot House Rayguns pitching coach Gary Peguero said that DeWitt is probably his team’s ace, but he will give up a lot of runs. “He’s got good speed on his fastballs,” Peguero said, “but they just don’t move much. Unless he is making people miss or finds a way to edge them in on the corner, then he will probably lead the CMU in home runs. He needs a lot of work. A lot.” Peguero said in one model that DeWitt would give up on average two home runs a game. “One is a lot. Two is a loss.” Cats pitching coach Slick Lick Thompson is not one who has his pitching preferences, but he has voiced his concerns with limiting home runs. Cats ace Matt “Ace in the Hole” Hope had an ERA of 7.05, but his home runs allowed per nine innings was a respectable 1.3. Third starter Wyatt Wallace is already on the chopping block due to his 2.1 home runs allowed per nine innings. Reliever Sam Teflon, who earned three starts in 2296, may take over as the third starter. DeWitt was traded to the Cats from the Quincy Gunners on April 30 in a Jerky for Jerky trade. The Cats sent outfielder Jessie Jerky to the Gunners in the trade. 25 December – Christmas Decorations Galore It's a tradition few understand but many do anyway, the day of lights and decorations. It is Christmas in the Commonwealth. May you be merry and free from the deathclaw fairy and the scary white-bearded man. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 28 December 2296 - Egret Trades Oberland Two Pitchers for Two The Egret Scrappers and Oberland T-51s announced today in a joint press conference that 29-year-old RHP Joe Charlie and 17-year-old minor league RHP Bobby Carvajal will be going to the T-51s in exchange for 28-year-old minor league LHP Ronnie Gipper and 17-year-old minor league RHP Dave Harden. "It'll be exciting to join a new organization," Gipper said. "Some of us could use a fresh start." Charlie left the Scrappers in October for a religious pilgrimage with the Hubologists. At the time, Egret manager “Wrinkles” Erickson expressed his displeasure with Charlie’s focus while also expressing understanding. Erickson also stated that Charlie would be fined his salary for time missed. Charlie made seven appearances for Egret in 2296, all in relief. He was 1-1 with a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings pitched. He was a 16th round pick in the Inaugural Draft. The T-51s supposedly approached the Scrappers about the trade for Charlie. They were looking to move away from part-time starter Gipper, who was drafted in the 26th round of the Inaugural Draft. In eight starts in 2296, he was 3-1 with a 8.72 ERA. He pitched 42.1 innings, allowing 41 earned runs on 53 hits with 23 walks and 27 strikeouts. Harden and Carvajal never saw action in 2296. Harden was originally drafted in the 26th round of the Inaugural Draft by the Salem Witch Hats but was released before the regular season. He was then signed on a no-sight contract with Oberland where he was able to stay throughout the season. Carvajal was an undrafted free agent last season before being signed by Egret. 29 December 2296 – Death of Puffy Puffy Passie Solved Last week, Vault 81 Dwellers pitcher Godfather Hough was injured when his pet brahmin Puffy Puffy Passie exploded and the severed head and schrapnel landed in Hough’s bed. Today, the Brotherhood of Steel found the culprit was just a teenager exploring his talents and interests. The teen, identified as Exxie Summerset, aged 13, confessed to the crime, stating that he was curious what a frag grenade would do to an animal. Apparently, young Summerset, it will blow it the **** up. The Brotherhood said that they would enter Summerset in some intensive youth training to set Summerset on the right path. Summerset’s father, Marty, who runs the Vault 81 Old Diner, said he agreed to the punishment and would pay Hough to replace his brahmin. Hough has a slight infection in his left (non-pitching) arm that is being treated in the Vault 81 clinic. He is expected to heal and return to the team when they officially report in March. 31 December 2296 – Knuckle Punchers to Host Fireworks Extravaganza They may be far from the lights of Boston, but Shaw High School owner Arlen Glass said that his settlement would have the best New Year’s Eve Party in all of the Commonwealth. “We’re lighting up the sky tonight,” Glass said. “It will be brighter than the Glowing Sea.” Glass also declared 2297 to be the “Year of the Knuckle Puncher.” “We’re coming back this year,” Glass said. “We drafted an awesome player in Beachboy Nut, and a lot of our guys who struggled are going to be a lot better. Those 18 wins were the past. We’re flipping our wins and losses this year.” Glass seemed to be well-imbibed when he spoke about the festival and baseball and a few other topics we won’t print in this publication. What we do know is that Glass is excited about his team despite the poor results in 2296. For his team’s sake, we hope they can be much better to increase interest in a settlement that is one of the less populated in the Commonwealth. |
Presumably Egret will be looking to win one [or a lot more than one] for the Gipper in the new season.
Good to know that the mystery of Puffy Puffy Passie's death has been solved and, especially that it was a perfectly understandable case of youthful inquisitiveness! |

January 2297 - News and Notes - January 1-6
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1586093507
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 1 January 2297 – CBO Begins Year 2 The Commonwealth Baseball Organization is now officially in its second season as the new year has come. Reports are that most of the fires in the Shaw HS area have been put out and there has been no damage to Atomatoys Stadium. In other news, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and Easy Town Assaultrons are now in existence as their former names, the Treasures and East Boston Prep, go away. There is no immediate business at this moment. Players are expected to report on March 2 for the first official day of spring practice. Announcements for the preseason tournaments are coming. 6 January 2297 – County Crossing Feeding Off Trout County Crossing Bloodbugs general manager Mike Pieface did not pull bait when talking about the 2296 Rookie Draft. “We thought there were two guys worth something special in the draft,” Pieface said with a cake-eating grin. “One was the pitcher that went #1 overall [SP Beachboy Nut selected by Shaw HS] and the other was [Biter] Trout. Jamaica Plain and Fort Hagen passed on Trout, and we got him. By Uggie-Q, we got him!” Trout has shown he was worthy of a high first-round pick by working relentlessly to improve his game. He feels he has not even breached the surface of his abilities. “If the season started today, I’d be playing in Malden,” Trout said referring to the Bloodbugs BMU team, the Malden Grognaks. “But I want to be the starting catcher for County Crossing from day one.” Bench Coach Ron McCarthy is a yang to manager Biff Future’s yin in baseball philosophy. McCarthy said the advanced numbers point to Trout being a future star. “He can hit from all ratings standpoints, and he looks like a true catcher in his fielding abilities,” McCarthy said. “I would play the numbers with him.” Future was also not shy about praising his team’s draft haul. “Trout may be the key to turn this franchise into a long-term winner. We also got Punky [Shaum] in the 2nd, so we had a hell of a draft.” 6 January 2297 – Daros Getting Patient One thing is for sure. When Lexington Synths third baseman Justin Daros approaches the plate, he will do it with patience. “I would go up and swing at the first pitch no matter what it was,” Daros said. “Fastball down the middle? Swinging, of course. Curveball seven feet off the plate? Yep, I was swinging.” Daros did not have terrible numbers on the season. In 2296, he batted .278 mostly hitting out of the 6th position, adding 15 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 29 runs batted in. The 13th-round pick in the 2296 Inaugural Draft was never a star, but he was productive for a team on the brink of making the playoffs. However, he swung at the first pitch on nearly 100% of his plate appearances. Of those, he connected 30 times, going 15 for 30 on the first pitch with four doubles, two home runs, and seven runs batted in. Those are great numbers for when he connected. When he did not, the numbers dropped considerably. With two strikes, he hit .170 on the season (19 for 112) with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, and nine runs batted in. “I love playing baseball,” Daros said. “That’s why I approached [hitting coach] Willie Weirdhand as soon as he got hired. I want to learn how to be patient at the plate.” Weirdhand has said his philosophy for hitting is simple: “Put the ball in play and good things happen. Whiff, and you get an uncomfortable walk back to the bench.” 6 January 2297 – Southie Has Run-In in Former Hood Abernathy Adamantium reliever Chris Southie has always been proud of his upbringing. Unfortunately, that upbringing involved a gang of parentless hoodlums. Today, Southie’s past turned ironic when he was attacked by members of the same gang in which he used to be a member. “I’m a Southie orphan,” Southie has boasted in the past. “We were all runners and gunners.” While it may sound like code for those who do not know, “Southie” refers to South Boston, which includes the areas where the Goodneighbor Hancocks, University Point Deathclaws, and Jamaica Plain Red Rockets’ CBO teams play. The “runner and gunners” reference is to a pre-civilization gang of orphans known for having a balance of pickpockets and armed robbers. Southie eventually left that gang when he got too old. He later joined a traveling baseball team and then started coaching and training a youth baseball traveling team, the Andrew Station Southies. Today, he decided to try to reach out to more of the South Boston youth. Upon hoping to spread the word for baseball and recruiting more of the wayward youth towards a more productive future, one member of the local gang did not taking a liking to Southie. He responded by knifing Southie, leaving him in bad shape. Southie was able to be treated and eventually got a caravan ride to The Castle to receive proper treatment. The youth who stabbed Southie is still being sought by local Minutemen. |
Getting the new season jitters. Here's hoping to a good one, and a good one for the Silver Shroud especially.
BTW, I'm going back to read the New Vegas chronicle too. Almost done with it by this point. I'll comment here instead of bumping a long buried thread. Was rooting for the Bears, so it was quite a shock when they up and disbanded (This is despite not liking Kimball much). Having to pick a new team to support almost hit me harder then the drama over my Chicago Fire rebranding this past year, but settled on Nellis. Just starting Year 6 now, so still have to see how the plot resolves with the NCR power grab. |

There is more to these stories, including another dynasty I had started but could not get far into, a fantasy-based one where I was going to delve into the multiverse and spawn whichever players I wanted. I just did not have the time to commit to what I wanted to do, so it faded away quickly. Anyway, I considered adding some cross posts into the New Vegas thread once I got to the correct place in the timeline. Still, I need a new rig before it can handle all my plans. Hey, that reminds me. Bradberton has something to say. Let me write that story in! Coming soon, but first . . . 2297 must move quickly! |
I finished the thread after dinner, and I must say, quite the creative direction you took it, adding quite a bit of original content and spin to the universe. Not exactly a happy ending, in the traditional sense, though not a bad one by any means either (both in terms of quality, which goes without saying, and in terms of tone, I mean), which is probably fitting of the Fallout Universe.
Was glad in the post-script that Nellis had at least one Championship. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 11 January 2297 - County Crossing Bloodbugs Ship McMath to Salem The County Crossing Bloodbugs have made a deal sending 25-year-old minor league 1B Dan Catman and 18-year-old 3B T.J. McMath to the Salem Witch Hats for 19-year-old minor league RF Governor Bellingham. Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out. Bellingham was the Witch Hats’ first-round pick, 14th overall, in the 2296 Rookie Draft. He will now join an impressive rookie class in County Crossing with catcher Biter Trout being the 4th overall pick in the 2296 Rookie Draft. McMath started all 60 games for the Bloodbugs in 2296. The 5th-round pick in the Inaugural Draft batted .233 by going 55 for 236 with 13 doubles, 9 homers, 35 runs, and 33 RBI. Catman, the Bloodbugs’ 19th-round pick in the Inaugural Draft, batted .538 on 7 of 13 with two doubles, a run scored, and three runs batted in. “We hate to lose promise in McMath,” County Crossing GM Mike Pieface said with a sweetcake-imbibed smile, “but we are trying to load up on young talent and [Bellingham] fills a need for us.” 12 January 2297 – Piper Wright/BosCom Announce Lineups Piper Wright, in conjunction with BosCom and the former Pipercom corporation, has announced that BosCom will have multiple lineups for its television programming in upcoming years. BosCom will begin broadcasting on a limited basis in 2297 but hopes to be at full go by the end of the year. BosCom has several locations to simulcast its broadcasts with the main studio in the former Gunner’s Plaza and the Hubris Comics television studio in Downtown Boston. To help amplify the signal, Relay Tower OSC-527 just outside Fairline Hill Estates and Relay Tower 1DL-109 just outside Oberland Station are currently in use. Starting in March, there will be limited programming available in Diamond City and Fairline Hill Estates. First, Piper Wright announced that the BosCom News Network (BNN) will have multiple programs. Related to the Commonwealth Baseball Organization, BosCom will hold several baseball programming, including a baseball-dedicated news program and weekly broadcasts of games around the Commonwealth. Equipment and technology is expected to be limited in 2297, so there may be only one live broadcast location per week, but the hope is to expand to all 12 weekly series in coming years. The baseball programming is seeking talent, but there are plans to hold a daily sports talk program, as well as weekend broadcasts of games during the season and playoffs. The complete daily schedule of baseball-related television on a Friday during the CBO season may look like this: 11:00-12:00 – BNN Baseball Daily 6:00-7:05 – BNN Series of the Week Pre-Game Show 7:05-10:00 – BNN Series of the Week Broadcast 10:00-midnight – BNN Series of the Week Post-Game Show Crews are also working to convert from radio to TV and expand TV signals through other relay towers around the Commonwealth. Some of those include: USAF Satellite Station Olivia northeast of Concord, Relay Tower OMC-810 northwest of County Crossing, Radio Tower 3SM-U81 northeast of General Atomics Galleria, and Relay Tower 0BB-915 north of Fort Hagen. There are currently a shortage of relay towers along the Atlantic Coast, which will prevent several locations in the Brotherhood and Minutemen Leagues from receiving signals in 2296, including Salem, Nordhagen Beach, Easy Town, South Boston (may receive weak signals from Relay Tower OSC-527), Atom Cats Garage, Quincy (may receive weak signals from Gunner’s Plaza), and Warwick Homestead. Piper Wright said she is considering amplifying the signal through some existing structures like Kingsport Lighthouse, Boston Airport, the Castle, and Poseidon Energy. BosCom may also build its own relay towers. 12 January 2297 - Connolly Announces HCU Plans This has nothing to do with baseball that we know of, but hopefully there will be storylines related to the CBO. In addition to the complete line up of programming planned for BosCom broadcasts, Kent Connolly, proprietor of Hubris Comics and creator of the Hubros Comics Universe has plans for multiple television series and movies centered around The Unstoppables and their various alliances and antagonists. The HCU would first be introduced through a short season (three episodes) featuring the Silver Shroud. Summary: "The HCU comes to life with this short season series involving Silver Shroud’s back story in this 23rd Century rewind. Follow the shadowy detective as he discovers his tell-tale outfit, his trusty sidekick sending out missions through the radio, and a no-name gangster making trouble in Goodneighbor. Tune in to the first show of the HCU when Silver Shroud takes on 'No-Nose.' In Episode 1, "Shroud Finds His Garb," Shroud becomes the hero the streets of Boston needs. He meets his trusty sidekick, Den Memory, in Episode 2, "Shroud's Sidekick." Together they stake out a small-town ganster in the alleys of Goodneighbor in the climactic episode, "Busting a No-Nose." In addition to Silver Shroud's series, which will include at least three seasons, there will be other shows featuring Grognak the Barbarian, Mistress of Mystery, The Inspector, and Manta Man from Unstoppables fame. There will also be shows featuring Vault Boy, Captain Cosmos and his sidekick Jangles the Monkey, Kid Wacky, Drake Tungsten the Chrono Cowboy, and The Mechanist in a crossover hero role. Planned movies will be directly based on the Unstoppables comic series: Dr. Brainwash and His Army of De-Capitalists, Who Can Stop the Unstoppable Grog-na-Rok?, Commie-Kazi vs Manta Man, Trapped in the Dimension of the Pterror-Dactyls, and the Unstoppables Visit the Ux-Ron Galaxy. There will also be new movies featuring Zetan invaders in a two-part series where the Unstoppables join with other heroes to defeat the ultimate enemy, the Zetan leader, Mkjfdshebsfhjeifejii. More details will be released as casting choices and writers are obtained. For now, Connolly showed off comic covers and said, "imagine these on TV in your living room. Or even better, imagine sitting and watching these on the big screen at Starlight Drive-In. Possibility will be reality in 2297." |

Stupid is as stupid does . . .
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1586093507 Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 13 January 2297 – Happy Man Fights Coffee Machine Fort Hagen minor leaguer Happy Man was unhappy with the quality of coffee at Slocum’s Joe in Diamond City. The player, who was not on a roster in 2296 but signed a free agent contract in September, broke his hand when he attacked a machine not producing the quality of he expected. On top of the broken hand, Man also scalded his hand when the broken machine started spurting out hot coffee. No one else was injured. Man was treated in a clinic in Diamond City but will probably head to Kendall Hospital across the river to get a better look at his injuries. At this time, Man is not expected to miss any time from the March 2 reporting date for spring practice. 14 January 2297 – Flatface Flattened by Super Mutant Brute A group of CBO representatives on the way back from the Cape Cod area were attacked by a group of super mutants. There was a fierce battle between the two groups of baseballers and mutants, with the mutants suffering the larger loss of life with all ten mutants and mutant hounds killed. One member of the caravan was killed though he was not a CBO player. One CBO player was injured, but it could have been worse. The Quincy Gunners’ Flatface Parker was pounced upon by a super mutant brute sporting a sledgehammer. The mutie swung at Parkers face, which would have made his face even flatter, but Parker put up his arm in defense. The blow was not a killshot but did crush Parker’s arm. He was airlifted by vertibird towards Boston Airport. The guard who was killed by a hail of bullets from one of the mutants also was taken away by vertibird. The rest of the group headed towards Quincy where they were expected to regroup and rest. Parker is a potential huge loss for the Gunners. As the leadoff hitter for Quincy, he was tied for third on the team with a .337 batting average. He also added 9 home runs and 38 RBI. He also led the team with 15 steals. |
