I've been waiting to spend the rest of the PP from the 100 DiMaggio that I pulled from a pack early on. I finally pulled the trigger and picked up 100 Ripken for a good price. I hope it wasn't a mistake!!
So from that DiMaggio card I got Boudreau, Cabrera and now Ripken. I'm glad I sold it!! |

I don't look at the all star game box score generally but I did this morning. I wonder if the the three Ichiro's on Darvish's team jumped in.

My teams are making me mad now... both of them are acting like they want to get promoted, which I know is going to be a disaster. I was willing to work with one of them being promoted but both.... it will be brutal.
Ok, here is a question I'm wrestling with, baseball brainiacs. I'm looking to upgrade my RF on Annandale. Which of these players would you take (showing BA/OBP/SLG/OPS)? Player A Offense - .306/.431/.611/1.042. No platoon split. Defense - LF good, CF meh, RF ok... a slight defensive downgrade Player B Offense - .334/.394/.585/979. Slight platoon split, better vs RHP. Defense - LF good, CF meh, RF good... basically the same defense as who's there now. Both guys are a big offensive upgrade over who's there now. And either could someday migrate to LF where they would be great on defense. Normally Annandale goes with the defense but I'm a little concerned that at higher levels B will suffer from his lack of walks. They are similarly priced, though to be honest B is a teeny bit cheaper. If B is 15000 and A is 19000 PP, who do you get (neither is a valid choice!). I think I've decided but am interested in opinions if you feel like chipping in. I will reveal the players tomorrow morning. If you want to guess who they are feel free! :D |

I can't afford to buy the game 3 times...or is it 3 teams per copy of the game?
I'm disabled and have limited funds. |
If you buy one license, you can have 3 accounts playing. All you need is a different email address for each one.

Palolo still leads the way. The Puppies are involved in all nine remaining OL games with 3 games vs. Shinbone, Highland and a season closing 3 game set vs. Coney Island.

Hooterville Still Leads, but...

same story as yesterday, with the three team race even closer. As far as PT is going, Brigadoon and Annandale will make the playoffs, one from each league. Hooterville and Asylum are within striking distance, but neither seems capable of a sustained hot streak.

For those of you dying to know who I purchased for Annandale... (all none of you), here's the answer. And the insight into my purchase decisions that you're all dying to know about.
Keep in mind is that when I upgrade players on Annandale I want to keep an elite defense - when two players are close I will pick the better defender. As you recall, I was considering 2 players (Players A and B). However, I looked at the auction house again and found a third contender had entered the ring. Let's call him Player C. And as it turns out, he's the guy I ended up buying, even though he was a bit more expensive than the other two. Here's an abbreviated version of my player evaluation spreadsheet for the guy I'm replacing and the 3 guys I was considering. Player A was Dave Parker, B was Mickey Mantle, and the guy I bought was Dale Murphy. In the end I decided to skip Mantle because I'd be going from a 91 to an 83 in RF. I decided for Murphy over Parker because Murphy has a much better walk rate, and he is much better vs lefties. Their defense is essentially identical also (and maintains what I have there). Murphy could also move to LF later on as he is an overall "better" version of my SE Duke Snider who is in LF now. As for prices, here's what they sold for in the order in which the auctions ended:
I barely had enough for the purchase so now I'm broke. See you in three weeks, Auction House! |

Actually, it was very helpful and interesting. The onoly thing missing from what I do is the biggest factor of all (for me) - the heart factor.:flowers: |
How it shapes up
Had a few minutes to check so here goes...Annandale is finished, Brigadoon has three @ Port Ruppert, and Hooterville has six left with Asylum, home then road. Hmm... so two of my mediocre bumps on the log will decided the crown.
|
good luck down the stretch for anyone in the playoff hunt and/or OL crown....
Waffletown has been playing better the past two months and have embraced the role of spoiler for this season (took 5 of 7 from the first place team in their division last month and helped whittle their lead down to a half game). edit: and for those in Silver league, something fun to watch if you aren't in the playoff hunt will be Norwood's outfielder Ichiro (currently batting .397) to see if he can eek out those last 3 points and crack the .400 mark for the season. |
The Shinbone Stars will probably get promoted to Diamond and get slaughtered again. Then back to Gold the week after next.
I've built up a bunch of PP but now must decide on keeping my line-up as is and go for pitching. Decisions, decisions... At this point I think hitting/defense is more important then pitching. But who knows? Also, I think the Collection Mission SE cards don't make the grade at Diamond level. Maybe Ichiro or Maddux, but that's it. And probably Berra.... |
Super Fan Sighting

Just happened to take a quick peek and saw that Hooterville, after a season-long residence, was kicked from the top perch, when they slumped against Asylum, who they had dominated. Though they have two games left, they won't be OL S257 crown winners. I think you can guess who the winner is. By the way, please make sure I have your logo. With the way the graphics in the game have gone FUBAR,I can't even find an example to follow for your team. Be forewarned - you may end up with the product of my imagination.

Puppies take the crown in gold
2 Attachment(s)
The Palolo Puppies were the big dog in Gold. They limped to the finish line with a 3-6 record in the final month but nobody was close enough to make a run.
In Gold play Highland and Shinbone will face each other in the division series and be promoted. Palolo, Krikkit and Coney Island will stay in Gold. |
Jefferson Valley finished their season 83-79, 12 games out in their division and 3 games off earning a wildcard. They will remain in bronze next week.

Highlanders, aye!

Sorry for the delay, but I had mouse problems and it took a little bit before I tracked another one down.
As far as PT goes, Brigadoon and Annandale each made the playoffs, the Atom Smashers as a wild card. Brigadoon will be promoted to gold, Annandale will also if they win their wild card game. |

Scorpions capture OL B239 Title
1 Attachment(s)
Sierra Vista captured the OL B239 Title, holding a late-charging K-Town team. The Scorpions used a win over the Bluffton Boomerangs - their only win of the 3-game series - to beat the Rock Piles.
K-Town hadn't lost an OL game since August, but it was that August loss to the Impalers that did them in. Transylvania was the only OL team to make the playoffs, once again foiling the Rock Piles to make the second wildcard in the NC. While Transylvania still has a shot at promotion, Hartford will be relegated, and all other OL teams will stay in Bronze. |
LabRats scurry to OL I184 Title
1 Attachment(s)
The race for the Iron 184 OL flag came down to the next-to-the-last game of the season, with Daytona Beach chasing the Left Coast for the crown. In the end, it was Otonokizaka who played the spoiler, taking game 161 from the Tortugas, who ended percentage points behind Left Coast.
The Tortugas and LabRats still have the potential to meet and settle the score in the Iron Series, as both top-rated teams are in the playoffs. The Muse and Ring Road also made the playoffs, and all potentially advance next season. Meanwhile, at the other end, Vlora and Asheboro will be relegated, while Cochise County will remain in Iron next season. |
Annandale lost in the wild card game, 6-4 when Memphis scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th. Second time in 3 weeks I've had a team lose the WC game in extra innings.
So Annandale will stay in silver with the rest of the gang while Brigadoon joins the folks in gold. |
Otonokizaka no-showed their wildcard game and will have no choice but to stay in iron.

Josh Hader has been jettisoned, and the Norwood Diamonders would like to join. Team name: Norwood Diamonders - OL Username: scannon755 Also, is it kosher to enter a second team? I have another team going from Iron to Bronze that also fits the qualifications. It is a strict Reds theme team, so it might not be the most competitive team (especially the farther along we get), but if they can join too, let me know and I will add their information. Looking forward to it! |

added to the online sheet.... welcome aboard! make sure you check off 'use friend's list' in the settings and then friend the other OL teams.... and anyone in Gold level next season, be sure to add Norwood as they are moving up. was pulling for your Ichiro to crack the .400 mark this season.... looks like he fell just short |

You can definitely have two (or three or more) teams in the OL. Post your manager names and team names and people should friend you. Also make sure you're using the "Use Friends List" for league placement (choose Profile and look at the top right-hand side menu). That has torpedoed many a new manager their first week. |

Don't Forget the New Guys
Please take a few minutes to check your list and make sure to submit the 30 names closest to your level. We'll get a test if three's enough because Port Ruppert, Terra Incognita, and Asylum all definitely had Norwood friended and submitted. Let's be perfect next week.

From a quick scan of the friends list it seems that aside from Diamond, all the OL teams made it into the proper place. There are 5 Diamond level teams and they are in 3 different leagues. Not sure what's going on there.
Here's the Gold league placement. Seems like all 6 OL teams made it. Also, even though the Pro/Rel tab indicated otherwise, Annandale got promoted to gold. |
