Almost....

Well, diamond got screwed up, unfortunately in the first season we might have had a crown chase. With my three teams in silver, I'll be handling those standings. Will need others to pick up the others.

Here's what I've got:

B213: Sierra Vista, Bluffton, Left Coast, Jefferson Valley, Daytona Beach, K-Town, Norwood Red Menace

S263: Hooterville, Terra Incognita, Port Ruppert, Asylum, Transylvania, Waffletown

G309: Brigadoon, Annandale, Coney Island, Krikkit, Palolo, Norwood Defenders

I223: Otonokizaka, Hartford, Cochise County, Fort Huachuca, Ring Road

Vlora and Asheboro are both in St199, but there obviously won't be a crown chase.

Edster007 05-25-2020 07:47 AM

I will do Gold or Bronze. I would appreciate not doing both if someone wants one of the two. If not I will do them but I am getting busier at work early in the morning and wont be doing both daily.

Charlatan 05-25-2020 08:09 AM

I can do gold this week.

Edster007 05-25-2020 08:18 AM

I will handle the Bronze League

Keepers Destined to be Stuck in Silver?

The Asylum Keepers had tremendous pack luck early and broke quickly, moving into silver in 2023...and there they still sit. They've won between 60 and 70-something games each season. They even enlisted JoBu a couple of weeks ago. The net result has been underwhelming. As a silver tourney team, they've done okay, generally grabbing a pack or two a day, rarely getting completely shut out. They've also done well in the 750 PP tourney. Pack pulls have been pretty poor, though the 88 Paul Derringer has been a nice bullpen add. The net result of it all is that they've been able to accumulate points very slowly and make just a couple of slight upgrades over the course of the six weeks of waving to the other OL teams passing through.

That all seemed to change the other day when JoBu came through in a big way. I don't usually enter the daily tourneys if I'm gonna be around and can check in every couple of hours. However, because I knew I'd be unable to, I entered the daily silver pack tourney...and won 15 packs. Wow! They added two more overnight, so this morning I ripped them, feeling the JoBu turn of luck had come.

Not so fast. The 102 card bonanza contained two live gold, which might sell for 1300 each, three live silver, which I'll keep for tourney teams, 31 live bronze to sell, 7 OL bronze, which I'll keep, 14 OL iron, which I'll keep. Sorry to sound so whiney in the midst of such luck, but just one good pack could've have turned it around, and fate did appear to be smiling on Asylum. Ah well, I have accumulated close to 20,000 PP, so some improvement should be possible. Thanks for listening.

By the way, what do you folks do with your excess OL (that's what I call historical cards) cards? I've been saving mine. Not sure why. Live cards, except for tourney cards, are gone as I get 'em. Probably should cull some of the tourney cards, as well. Just haven't had time to go through my tourney rosters lately. Hopefully later today.

Good luck to all in 2029.

I always have to remind myself it's a journey and not a race.... trying my best to stick with the "only sell duplicates" rule, though I've broken it twice so far as I've sold a pack pull (diamond Brad Lidge) and a tourney reward (diamond Roy White, I think it was)...

started working on the live collections midway through last season after it was obvious my bunch wasn't going anywhere and I wouldn't make enough points to pick up any old timey improvements... figure a few of those reward cards can fit into my theme, and the rest might be useful in tourney play

Good luck to all in 2029.

Jobu never brought my San Pedro team luck last year. I had amazing good pack luck early as well but have done the best at flipping cards. Thanks to the pandemic I have had more time to check in and have made pretty good gains weekly on both my teams just doing that.

As for the excess historical cards if I am going to get a decent return to help build the teams bankroll I put them in the AH when the AH isn't flooded with that card to try and extract maximum value.

For a team below .500 last week Coney Island did pretty well point wise turning two triple plays and Guidry ended the season on 41 game save streak-shame it doesn't carry over to this week. I did play at midweek, a few of silvers I had to sell off a few players on the 26 man roster and reinvest.

Charlatan 05-25-2020 09:36 AM

Last year all my FTP teams sold off the players I replaced pretty much as fast as possible. This year I'm selling off my replaced guys a lot slower. I mean, most of the guys I'm replacing at this point are golds, and the majority of them would probably sell for 2-4k PP, which isn't much at this point in my teams' evolution.

Plus I keep telling myself that someday they might add a mission for some of these guys, which would make them worth a lot more.

Which reminds me, I do tend to sell the cards that are part of a mission (once I verify I'm not going to complete the mission). Because I think the odds are there won't be another mission involving the same card.

Schedule for S267

Seems like Asylum will not get 10 games in for OL this season. I believe the schedule is set now, because there's been a sim, although no games were played. I guess that first sim must be for settling the schedule. Sigh...

Not sure what happened in Diamond again. This time, I'm one of the ones to not make it in. Last season, Southpaws and Weston Pointe were there with me. Friends list unchanged since I've added the teams that are in silver and up, just in case I don't make it in on a Sunday night to check the list. Oh well, we go again next week.

Good luck to everyone this week!

Report from OL teams in D358.

No, we didn't have an OL championship in D358, but thought I would give an "end-of-season" update, anyway.

There were three OL teams in D358, and these were their records against other OL teams:

Cary Southpaws-OL: 0-0
Kansas Rangers-OL: 13-6
Weston Pointe Caspers-OL: 6-13

So there wasn't an OL championship, but there should be next season, with the two gold teams moving up and none of the current OL teams moving down.

The real surprise is that the OL contingent actually held up decently against the whales. In the AL central, Cary Southpaws and Milwaukee Guilt Trip tied with identical 99-63 records. They met in a single deciding game, with the winner guaranteed to have home team advantage at least until the Championship series, and the loser hosting the wild card game.

The Southpaws lost a close one that Milwaukee won with a rally in the top of the ninth inning, and so Southpaws went to the wild card game, which they won. In the next round, the Southpaws and Milwaukee went to a deciding fifth game, which unfortunately Milwaukee won, and they ended up losing in the league championship series.

Over in the NL, the Kansas Rangers also did quite well, ending with a 92-70 record, good for the second wild card position. Unfortunately, they lost in the wild card game.

Even the Caspers did decently, considering it was their first time in Diamond league, ending with a 79-83 record.

Next season should be fun in diamond!

[Note: I actually thought I had posted this last evening, then I saw that it was just preview... I know now that only three teams made it in to same league. ]

allenciox 05-25-2020 11:28 AM

Looking at the teams in D351, Caspers have it a whole lot easier than the Southpaws this season. Southpaws are in a division (NC West) with three bona fide whales and one team that looks about equal to Southpaws, so it is very doubtful they will repeat last season's result this season.

The Caspers and the Shinbone Stars are in the AC and both have only one whale in their respective divisions.

Good luck, all!

It's much better if you post it it. If I clip it from the game, it often resizes a little fuzzy. See Sierra Vista's this past week. Of course, it may not be as noticeable as I think. I do sharpen it as much as I can. If you'd like, I'll re-do this week's. By the way the last patch, version 3.54, seems to have corrected the problem. My graphics have been holding the past couple of days.

The Syrups, followed closely by Port Ruppert broke on top in a rather slow OL schedule. You have to love the irony of the hapless Asylum Keepers having the best winning percentage, even if for just one week. The team, stuck in an endless swirl of mediocrity has won perhaps 30% of it OL games in six silver seasons. Wouldn't it be a nice reward for their loyal fan base to come out on top in a season where they will be one game short of qualifying? Might drive 'em crazy.

G309 Standings

Norwood takes a slim lead in the Gold OL Standings but there's miles to go.

I reviewed my schedules this morning and it appears to me Brigadoon will only play 7 OL games (all vs Annandale) so they won't be eligible for the crown (not that I was worried about that!). Both of my teams are getting a reality check in gold this week.

Cochise County, Hartford, and Otonokizaka (I only had to look twice to spell it this time) have the fortune* of sharing space in the AC East this season, which means there will be many OL meetings between them.

Meanwhile, Ring Road is in the AC West, so their OL schedule is condensed to 14 games in June and another batch in September. Unlucky Ft. Huachuca doesn't appear to have any OL games this season as a member of the NC West.

Waffletown continues lead in OLS263 as the schedule was again fairly light. It worried me a bit , so I did a quick check, and only Asylum, with 6 games left, will be short. My quick count(could be off a bit) reveals the following remaining games:
Hooterville - 9
Waffletown - 13
Port Ruppert - 16
Terra Incognita - 19
Transylvania - 23

In PT, Asylum and Waffletown are division leaders on on opposite sides of the league, Transylvania leads the NC wild card, with Port Ruppert and Terra Incognita 4 and 4-1/2 games back, respectively. Hooterville is 3 games out of the AC wild card.

easiest way I've found is to just go to the 'team-vs-team' report and look for the -OL tags, then log those on a spreadsheet to tally up the totals

Thanks for the question and your answer. I've wondered what others were doing as well...and if you just screenshot your spreadsheet when done. That's what I do.

Also, before tallying, I open the report in a browser, because I find my browser scrolls better than the game screen.

I do just screen shot the spreadsheet. Last year when I started doing stats I did't know about the team v team report so the first few weeks I went through everyone's schedule which was tedious especially when you were off by one game.

nice pull.... wouldn't mind seeing him come out of a pack myself... he'd look perfect in a Syrups uniform  though I'm expecting to get the bronze/iron-quintet very soon from some packs (in the finals of a gold 32 tourney, so it'll either be 2 packs or 4)

Fills me with anticipation. I'm back working, albeit from home, so this week I decided to skip my pack opening over coffee ritual because I like to go slow. So, I've been saving my tourney packs for Saturday morning ripping. A really great thing about working from home is that, every couple of hours, I can pop in and sign up my teams again. It's helped build up a decent total for Saturday. Wish you were here, Jeff, so I could rub your head for luck. :p

Also, for the record, my challenge mode packs have recently been pretty lackluster so I am both in awe and jealous of Jeff’s pulls.
