What about SELL THE TEAM TO COHEN

Westheim will want a raccoon. Maybe multiple raccoons, as many as he can afford.

it still isn't a "season"
but watching Jake's all-fastball first inning was unbelievable. I was at the Opening Day a couple of years ago when Syndergaard blew away the Cards in the 1st on 7 pitches, a K and two dribblers back to him. They had played "Thunderstruck" while he did his warmup tosses, and they were all 100 mph heaters. I don't remember if he threw any breaking balls during the inning, but that was the most intimidating thing I ever saw on a baseball field. It was a fun contrast to see Jake smiling as he did his magic.
I also enjoyed seeing Cespedes mash one into the stratosphere but... can he do anything else? I know they supposedly told him not to run, but I'm afraid he's more likely to hurt himself trying to hold back the way he was gimping down to first during his other ABs. I didn't see any of the scrimmages, maybe he looked better then. And I know he can still throw and catch from various videos I saw on social media. Anyway, LFGM, undefeated since March 2020! |
I love raccoons, almost as much Ces' homer on Friday. :o

That offense is going to be the same pain in the ass as last year. I must disagree with Ron Darling when he says that this is a different lineup, strong one through nine. It is THE VERY SAME LINEUP. Plus Ces in the fake position, and he might yet get a golden sombrero today.

Congratulations to good ol'Strick, that was a very Metsy inning. I was enjoying watching them being managed by adults until I heard he was warming up in the 9th. I hated on Diaz a lot last year but Ozuna made a nice swing. Strick, OTOH, pitched like the Long Island Duck he is.
|
True story: I feel asleep just as Boom-Boom Diaz came in and for another six hours lived in blissful "Mets are 2-0" land.
Imagine the horror. |
Watching last night's Mets game. And... uh... it's 12-1 Atlanta. I wonder, at which point do the Mets show up?
And can we get a broadcast crew brighter than a lamp screen, a melon with a bad hairdo, and a wiffleball bat? |
These blue and orange idiots are gonna make me start to drink...
E4, F8, E5 5-6 (somehow), 1-3-6. |

What a sloppy mess of a game this is, the Red Nex starting a guy the Giants gave up on as a lefty reliever years ago, 3 errors in the first inning by both teams, blech. And an awfully juicy-looking ball to boot... |
Gimenez!! Two hits with a triple. No stupid crap in the field. I'll keep him! DFA Rosario. That bum.
:woohoo: |
Man, Ces can still whack 'em!
But only with nobody on base. And when the dogs in right don't move. |
Cano, the old fart, will be the death of me.
|
Dozier fitting RIGHT IN, playing ****ty defense and hitting into absolutely miserable double plays!
Thank the lords that we have Brodie Van Potatohead! |
There is a saying in German, where when you're done with somebody and just want him to go away and stay out of sight, literally translated: "he can go to where the pepper grows"
Well. Diaz can go to where the pepper grows. I hate his face. I hate his hat. I hate his floppy wings. And I hate how he walks the bags full and nails two guys in one inning. |

Diaz and Cano, that trade with Seattle will go down as one of the worst in Mets history, not easy to top young Amos Otis to the Royals for nothing left Joe Foy, but I think this one has an excellent chance. |

Well, they bought their lemons and I don't think they have enough water to make lemonade, but as of about May last year I was wishing they'd start pitching the poor kid anytime except the 9th. Instead there was Callaway watching him fritter away a lead against the Nats in September. It's the same as batting Cano in the middle of the order regardless of production, they can at least put these guys in situations where they'll cause less damage. |

True enough, unfortunately by September the place where they cause the least damage may be in the dugout |

Forgot about Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi, that one is still worst Mets trade ever. |
