I missed getting this up. Congratulations a crown and a badge. |
Gah! Finally able to login to v20 (Syrups made it to the World Series for the second year in a row)... only to find they lost game 7 by a score of 5-4 (on a walk-off, bottom of the 9th, 2 run home run)... guess if you're gonna lose, might as well make it exciting
|
Still A No-Go!
As of 07:00 CST, PT21 is still showing "SIMULATING" and still showing yesterday's setup.
So for those of you who can't get on, you are not missing anything, on that side. The tournaments and the AH still appear functioning properly. |

yeah, think they still need to get the pro/rel part done to get the new season setup.... going to take a little time, since even the devs couldn't get in until just recently |

2030 Silver league:
OL spread out in all six divisions. overall, looks like everyone made it into the correct league. Huzzah! |

The Rats pulled a 98 Walter Johnson from a challenge pack on Saturday. I put in up for auction, but it hasn't sold yet. May put him on the roster for the week, then try and sell him again. Hate to have him sitting and not getting me anything at all! |

Gold and Diamond setups. Division spread is pretty poor in gold. Looks like everyone made it into the two leagues though.

Thanks for the great news!
My break now, so I will check my laptop. PC still not connecting, but the laptop seems OK
|
Still No PC Access
But laptop seems fine. Was able to make spreadsheet for Silver. Will check schedules later this afternoon. My patience was rewarded by seeing packs for a couple of my teams. Gonna do the save all week thing again, I think. Good luck to all this week.

1 IS the loneliest number
Vlora White Stallions will be spending another season adrift in Stone. Their failure to complete missions, combined with a lack of point generation has conspired to leave them mired in Stone alone. (Rhyming unintentional)

Breaking News!
Quote:
The news of the day in the sports world, which has been confirmed by multiple sources, is that a secret private investor group named "Long Live the Stephensville Bears" is quickly trying to raise several millions of dollars and are planning on presenting and petitioning "Our League" top officials into forcing the current ownership of the Vlora White Stallions, into selling the team, so the new group can buy and relocate them back to Stephensville, where they have a very strong fan base, and a very rich history. Once word got out of this news, thousands of loyal Bear fans began flooding Stephensville's main thoroughfare, chanting "Go Bears Go!" & "Bring Back Our Bears!" At the local Stephensville "watering hole" named "The Honey Bears", hopeful fans were going so far as to sign up for season tickets. Many of these fans have also already donated money to the "Bring Our Bears Back!" "Fund Me" drive, which appeared to be gaining momentum, at the time of the publication of this article. Back in the day, the Stephensville Bears were a very popular and exciting team to watch. The local fan base well supported their local team and the team was a huge draw, providing well received revenue, to the local community. It was not uncommon for Bear Home games to be sold out, as the tickets became "hotter than a firecracker on fourth of July", when another rival OL team came in town. One of the most popular traditions at Home Bear games was whenever a visiting team's pitcher was relieved after a rough outing, the fans would chant and jeer "Feed Him To The Bears!" It wasn't long before local bear activists started protesting that local bears were highly offended by these actions. Yogi, the senior bear from Jellystone Park was quoted as saying that "a Bear is a Bear", and then proceeded in asking if there were any unattended picnic baskets around. An official who is close to the internal deliberations and spoke on condition of anonymity, because they are not authorized to publicly speak, stated that if the team relocated back to Stephensville, one of the conditions would more than likely be for them to ban the "Feed Him To The Bears!" chant. Stay tuned for more breaking sports news! -30- |

I think they have a three-game series at Asylum, in April, and that's it for the season. :crying: Asylum management is hoping to salve the wound of the PT seeding by offering up a years supply of Keeper Cakes for the Warriors. In addition, the Cafe du Fou will be open only for the exclusive dining use of Coney Island during their visit. |
Sorry for not posting in a while. Whalers still mired in Iron as I continue the collection missions. Managed to sell off a SE card I already had plus Tony Oliva to get most of the AL Central (only one I have started so far) to include the dreaded White Sox. Only have Indians to go. Getting off to a good start so far. Will be a few months til I finish the MLB LIVE mission but enjoying the ride.

Yaaay! Finally, we will have an OL championship in Diamond, since all five teams made it into the same league this time.

D356 Update
1 Attachment(s)
Hey, I can do Diamond this week! :D
The OL opened up D356 with a full slate of OL games as teams took turns beating each other up. Shinbone started strong out of the gate but won't see more OL action until after the All-Star break (note: Shinbone only plays 3 more OL games so unfortunately they are not eligible for the crown). |
Terra Incognita, Hooterville Quick out of Gate in OL S286
1 Attachment(s)
The Rustlers and Haymakers were the early leaders, but there should be plenty of OL action and fierce competition, as a quick perusal of the schedule showed a decent slate for the league. Still can't access the game on my PC. It's gotta suck for those who don't have their second license on another machine.
Lackluster showing for OL teams so far in PT, with OL teams taking up four of the six relegation spots, and only Hooterville, at 14-11, at .500 or better. |

After a couple weeks in the wild with Live Trout, I think the Bombers will be returning. I mentioned it earlier that they would likely return, but I wanted to give one of my favorite players to watch, a chance at the action. He did fairly well, up until Diamond, but that low avoid K really hurts. It's unfortunate to see one of the greatest players of all time, and the greatest of his generation, struggle in OOTP, but it's how it goes. I'm in the process of getting a replacement in, and swapping him out. It should be done by next week, but in the event that it isn't, I'll let you know.
FYI, this team did have a nice pull from a tourney pack of 100 Clemens ~15 days ago who I liquidated for 180k yesterday. He had over a 4.5 ERA across 1.75 seasons in Diamond. Absolutely insane. Not worth the 180k from a production standpoint so I thought it'd be better off investing it in the team. |
Nice to see you back...
For my teams' sake, just hope it's not before they're ready.;)

Port Ruppert Grabs Lead in OL S286
1 Attachment(s)
The Mundys had a busy and productive month to take over the top spot in OL. Although Waffletown has been on the sidelines, I double checked their schedule and they have more than a dozen OL games left to play.
In PT, Port Ruppert has slipped into a wild card spot, with Transylvania and a couple of others weighing in. However, the three bottom relegation spots belong to OL teams as well. |
Might be my last post for awhile...
My laptop, with the second license, and older version, just started throwing me the "Could not connect!" message my desktop has been sending for several days, so I guess the problem is getting worse not better. Hope they figure this out soon. Later, folks!

Have you tried plugging an ethernet cable into the laptop and connecting? If that works then that's more evidence that the wifi card is flaking out. |
Quote:
No the problem's definitely with OOTP. I swapped out the ethernet into the laptop the first day to make sure it wasn't my wifi. The laptop was fine until this morning. The phones in the house all seamlessly shift into wifi mode from data, etc. I had my son check and my wifi speed's actually pretty good compared to the direct connect, so my modem is fine. Everything else works except, PT 20 (which I have left uninstalled) and PT 21, which I reinstalled early on in the problem. I'm not gonna mess with the laptop in the hope it returns to use. I never had 20 on the laptop. I guess the problem is isolated to few enough cases to make it hard for them to find. Ah, well. Hope I at least win a pack or two from the last tourneys I could enter. |
Is it possibly a weird DNS error? If you have VPN software available you could try turning your VPN on and then connecting to see if that makes the problem go away.
It also makes sense to try to eliminate your ISP as a potential cause. You could take your laptop to a different place like a Starbucks or a place that offers free Wi-Fi (or the library if your library is open) and see if you can connect from a different network. Maybe none of that will work but all of those actions will eliminate other potential causes of the problem. That is, unless you are 100% sure it is a problem with OOTP’s servers in which case just keep complaining to them. :( |
Quote:
I would be inclined to try this as the next step. Or, safer yet, a friends house. Side note, the transformation is complete, so the Bombers will be back in OL next week. Trout and his -0.8 WAR in Diamond across a couple seasons has been banished from the team! |
Quote:
Too much of a coincidence that only their stuff is giving me problems for me to go through that many gyrations. They mentioned something about certificates expiring with their servers. My guess is that they're not a big enough fish for their server to give them a great deal of attention for what seems like a fairly narrow problem. Probably not enough users affected for the server folks to care that much. My guess is that OOTP is doing most of the investigating and they're a small team. Just gonna wait it out. Complaining more doesn't add anything at this point. I'm sure they're embarrassed by this. Thanks for your help. |

Laptop is working again.
It seems I had a senior moment and screwed up the settings, so the problem, Dear Brutus, was not in our stars. Thankfully my son set me to rights, with only a wry smile, rather than poking the fun I deserved.
|
Glad to hear all is up and running again, Mark.
I am not sure what the PT21 baseball gods have against us this season however 90% of the OL teams in Silver 286 are bottom feeders. Even Jason's syrups were having a really tough go of it, early on sporting a 6-14 record after the 1st 20 games. The majority of our top pitchers are having "issues" and all of my big bats decided to take the season off, all at the same time. If nothing changes, it will be a long week! |

Quote:
I think I discovered the problem.... instead of the usual supply of bats from the Louisville Slugger company, Waffletown was mistakenly sent pool noodles (which accounts for their inability to hit the ball this season).... combine that with the pitching staff, who are trying a radical new pitching style: asking the opposing batter where they want the ball and tossing it in underhand.... makes for a losing combination might need a team meeting to rethink things. (gotta say, the temptation to ignore the pre-ww2 restriction and bring aboard Ichiro and Bagwell is growing larger after each dismal game we play) edit: hey hey! Syrups are out of the basement! (probably temporary, but savor the little victories |

D356 Update
1 Attachment(s)
I have an important correction to make: when I looked through everyone's schedule I thought Shinbone was ineligible because I only saw 7 OL games for them. Somehow I missed a 3 game series vs Highland that happened in June. So as it turns out Shinbone IS eligible for the crown. And look, they're in first place!
Shinbone's last 3 OL games are against Weston Pointe right after the All-Star break. That series will go a long way towards establishing who brings home the Diamond OL crown. |
Iron 208

Ft.Huachuca only breaking even in Iron, but winning when it counts.
|
No Bronze trophy will be awarded
After further review of the upcoming schedule in OL B241, only Daytona Beach plays more than 10 OL games (12). The scheduling gods have conspired to perfectly place the 4 Bronze teams in a way they don't meet.
Meeting in the postseason also looks unlikely, as only Ring Road holds a solid spot in the playoff chase, with Daytona Beach right on the edge of a wild card. |
Finished the AL Central missions and now working on AL East. I have BAL and BOS done....flipped the gold SE cards to fund more mission needed cards. Currently on the Yankees, which I think will take a few weeks at least to accomplish. TB and TOR look relatively easy.
Reading on here, it does appear that there are many "carbon copy" teams consisting of most or all of the SE rewards cards, which I may try to shy away from, which will mean selling some to acquire similarly talented cards so my team has a little different identity. I will wait until I finish the mission to do that, probably once I reach gold (if I ever do!) In the meantime, The hunt continues for my first OL Championship. |
While I am on a roll typing....some education about my avatar.
I am the webmaster for seasonspastbaseball.com. It is a set of six different computer baseball leagues using Diamond Mind Baseball. I have dabbled with OOTP in the non-PT realm, and love its functionality.....but most of our current members are crusty old farts who abhor change! This isn't about DMB vs OOTP, but rather to point out that the avatar is the logo for our organization. |
